Nokia 5800 with 32gb card?

Has anyone tried the 5800 with a bigger card than 16gb? There are some romours that it can handle bigger cards...

In theory it can handle 32gb (and even larger like all S60's that support SDHC) but they are not commercially available yet so it is unknown. I read somewhere last month that a 32gb preproduction card had been found to work on nokia S60 phones that support SDHC but no specific details were mentioned.
All you can do is wait until the cards go on sale then check blogs and forums for people using them. Nokia will not officially confirm in advance if they are compatible or not.

Don't you feel a bit ripped off with this...You buy a brand new one and within a couple of month they release another version of the same model with a capacitive Screen. Sucks man...I feel like I am a Guinea Pig, They checked if we would love the phone, We did, and now they are upgrading.

Nokia 5800 with Greek letters

Hey all,
I'm hoping to buy a new phone sometime in the next week or so. I have been looking at the Nokia 5800 however there's a minor setback. Because I live in Australia, the languages are usually Asian languages and English. The problem is, I do part time translating and quite often have to message friends in Greece for help, and it's a pain writing in "Greeklish."
Does anybody know if:
A. The Australian version comes with Greek
B. If not, is there a way to install a Greek character keyboard
I've used Nokia for the last 8 years and I really don't wnt to change for something so minor, but I may not have a choice.

A. It does not come with greek installed on the Australian version of the phone.
B. You can get the language added at a nokia care point, for a small fee. Ask at your nearest before purchase to ensure that they can do it for you.

Nokia 5800 with Route66 Mobile 7 for S60 V2/3

Hello,
I have Route 66 Mobile 7 S60 V2/3 installed at a new Nokia 5800.(it comes from my older Mobile N80i)
The software Route66 start up very well but can handle the touchscreen of the Nokia 5800.
Is there an possibilty that the Nokia 5800 can work with mine Route 66 version.
Route66 said that you need S60 V5, but maybe somebody knows an other solution.

Nokia 5800 with terrible slowness problem

I have a Nokia 5800. The device recently became very slow. The simple act of shutting down and restarting (detection range of a local network) take a period of several minutes long. Middle clicking on the menu appears, takes just a long time. What can I do to fix this.
It is important to note that the device is installed version 50.0.005

From what u tell it probably would help formatting it at some point. Note that this will delete everything on the card. Back up first.

Meanwhile you could clear browser cache. Also an extreme amount of messages could slow down your phone if they're stored on the phonememory.

Nokia 5800 with Ford fiesta

I have just got a new fiesta with bluetooth and recently got a nokia 5800.
I tried to set the phone up so that i could have it handsfree in my car, they paired fine and i can dial through my car but once i try to call someone it doesn't come through the car speakers it stays as a handset call.
The phone shows the bluetooth connection with a car symbol in the corner.
I have tried the car with a different phone and it worked first time so it is definately my phone.
The ford site says that the 5800 is compatable so why wont it work??

RM-428 is the North American version. They use different frequency bands over there so your 5800 will not work on 3g in Europe and most of the rest of the world. It should however work in GSM mode.

another point is the laguage used on the phone, if you're using non english characters on you phonebook , please change one of the names to english letters and see if it appears on the headdset. if it does then the headset only supports certain languages and phone book entries has to be in that form to appear.

Help needed to sync Nokia 5800 with Ovi Suite, but...

I need to back up my phone with Ovi suite before my phone goes to Vodafone for repair as the lcd screen isnt working. how do I sync my phone when I cant read the sms sent to set the sync up?

if u hv the mobile wd u and u r able to switch on ur mobile and also hear the startin tune.. U can attach the phone to pc and sync using ovi suite.. U DONOT need to select the connection mode.. It gets selected by default if u start the ovi suite..

have you checked via the settings of the 5800 and your car head unit's Bluetooth that it pairs automatically? my mother has a Nokia 2690 and it pairs up automatically with the car head unit's Bluetooth capabilities as soon as she starts the engine.

Nokia Ovi Suite and Nokia 5800 crashing after fw u...

When I start my Nokia Ovi Suite (V. 2.2.0.245) it works as usual, I can brows around my content without any problems. As soon as I connect my Nokia 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006) it crashes. Worked just fine before I upgraded to the latest version on the phone.

Uninstall Ovi and re-download from Nokia web. Reinstalled Ovi Suite but that didn't work.
I then uninstalled all Ovi and all Nokia related software, cleaned Registry and reinstall Ovi Suite: Failed to fix.
Then I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1 which worked just fine with 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006). I had no problems making backups or to synchronize.

Made a complete backup on my phone.
Installed Nokia Software Updater and I reinstall the latest FW 51.0.006 to my phone.
Then I organized my content for a few minutes.
Shut down Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater.
Started up Nokia Ovi Suite.
Connected my phone and clicked on PC-Suite on the options.
It now works again????
Something happened when I installed PC Suite that enabled me to use my Nokia 5800 with Ovi Suite again.

My problem is when i try to update my nokia 5800 with the nokia software updater it says my current firmware is version 31.0.101, update version is also 31.0.101. I know there is a new version available,can anyone help me out please.

There is no schedule. Apple hasn't added any new model support to iSync for over a year. They're leaving new phone support up to third-party iSync plugins.
Try contacting one of the third-party iSync Plugin developers on the page below, to see if and when support for your phone will be available:

Updating Nokia 5800

My problem is fairly simple. Try to update my nokia 5800 with the pc nokia software updater, within the first couple of minutes, the pc says my phone is disconnect and then the pc suit says failure to update phone please reconnect it when i havnt touched it? Tried OTA but doesnt find update yet, Any suggestions?

I do not work for nokia but I do know how firmware updates work for branded models. I agree with everything grschinon wrote above.
Between orange and nokia you are being given incorrect information. The people on orange and nokia's support lines are just script readers that often have very little real knowledge about a problem. Thats to be expected for orange but it is disappointing that nokia care often act in the same way.
When nokia creates a new firmware they pass it to the networks before it's even released to owners of generic non-network models. After testing nokia then releases it for the generic models then as the networks approve the update it gets released for them too. The quicker a network approves the firmware the quicker nokia makes it available on it's updater. As an example vodafone UK were quick to approve the update and it is available through nokia's updater.
Nokia can never force the networks to approve new firmware so some networks get away with never releasing any updates. In the past few years orange UK have been amongst the slowest often not bothering at all.
Your situation isn't unusual or unique it has been happening for years and it's well known that the networks are the cause of this problem. Orange is the cause and sadly there is nothing that you can do about it other than to vote with your feet. Hopefully one day the networks will just allow nokia to release updates when nokia wants to, not when the networks allow them to.
