Nokia 5800 XM - Screen Flickering

Hi,
I have purchased Nokia 5800 XM in the month of Jan.
I am facing a strange issue. When i try to unlock my cell the screen is flickering where i cant see any thing but blurr images.
You cant see whats on the screen. You just cant operate your cell.
XM has a lot of problems and I recommend not to buy this cell.

You have simply got a faulty phone, take it to a nokia care point and get it repaired under warranty.
Over three million 5800's have been sold now so it's a bit late that you are advising people not to buy it

Nokia 5800 - keep screen on when charging?

Is there a way to keep the screen of the Nokia 5800 turned on when the phone is plugged into a charger. This functionality was available on many older generation (non-Symbian) Nokia phones, but I can't find such a setting on the 5800.
Similarly, it would be useful to have a way to keep the phone unlocked when it is plugged into a charger.

Nokia 5800 lcd screen stopped working

Hi,
A few months ago i replaced my nokia 5800 screen with an unofficial one. After a recent update the screen stopped working. If I install a new and genuine nokia screen will this fix the problem?

I also have the same problem. The text displayed in the midlle of the screen is slightly inclined to the top. You can cleary see this when you are in the Help Section.

Nokia 5800 Touch Screen unique problem

My 5800 is showing some unique problems these days.
If i click the telephone key on the touch panel the contact keys gets pressed.
And this happens acroos all applications.Tried reset, hard, soft everything but not got the solution.
If anyone has please do share as this is taking on my nerve.

It's not unique because other people have had the same issue.
It happened on my device when I took it apart and put back together and tightened the screws too much. It has something to do with the connector connecting the display's touch sensor to the phone electronics.
Loosening the screws helped.
(I took it apart to install some non-Nokia covers on it which might not have the exactly same dimensions as the original ones. By the way some non-Nokia covers have a ridiculous design flaw which reflects the light from the LED flash right into the camera module and ruins all photos taken with a flash!)

Nokia 5800 xm screen display fault.

Hi, i hope someone can help me on this, After updating my phone to v31.01.101 my screen goes all lines and blurry, cant see any display at all, ive scanned the internet and noticed a lot of others had it too, (firmware fault), ive tried to update it to V5, but it wont go any higher than what ive got now , is there a fix for the screen? Thanks i await your reply.

What you can to is to try to reinstall the fw update and then go for a hard reset. - I don't think it will solve it, but might worth a shot before handing it in to a Nokia care point. - I have a slight feeling of this beeing a hardware fault.
Anyway, if you reinstall and hard reset (remember to make a back up) - you've tried what u can!

Nokia 5800 screen messing up

when i unlock my nokia 5800 the screen goes really messy and i can't read any thing. the only way to fix it until i lock it again is to press one of the applications, "watch". it started quite a while ago but i thought it might sort it's self out like most of the other problems i've had have... but it seems to be getting worse, now it doesn't even sort its self when i press the app sometimes and it takes a few attempts for it to work.
i don't know what the problem is and what to do to fix it, any help???

what firmware are you running on check and see if you can update
if the problem still continues back up your data and try this
Press and hold GREEN + RED + CAMERA when powering up.
Keep the keys pressed until you get the shaking hands. That should fully reset the device, with a lock code of 12345.

Instant Messeging on Nokia 5800 not opening

When i open Nokia's inbuit Insant Messenger (IM) under applications on my Nokia 5800, the screen splashes and gets closed. I dont know why? It is strange. All i did so far is just updated my software and now my version is 30.0.0.11 SW version date 29-6-2009. Latest Update was on 20-8-2009.
Any responsible person from nokia developers teeam please help me with this issue. I would like to use it.

Actually you may just need to reinstall it, but I do not know where to get the reinstaller. a hard reset MIGHT do the trick though.

Nokia 5800 unsigned driver in Vista x64

Hi, i just brought the new Nokia 5800 touch screen phone. When i try to plug the phone into my PC i am met with an error telling me that the drivers are not signed.
I've installed the PC Suite software that came with my phone.
Im running Windows Vista Home Premium x64
Im connecting via a USB 2.0 port (ive also tried 1.0)
Where can i get a signed driver for this phone that will work with x64.

(Make sure that you have backup of all your pc and pc suite registries before you uninstall it from your pc)
Kindly uninstall all the files related to Nokia OVI Suite, make sure that you dont have any unwanted registries related to Nokia OVI Suite, uninstall PC Connectivity Solution, Nokia Connectivity cable driver, Nokia flashing cable driver if any, Run reliable PC and PC Suite cleaners, install Nokia OVI Suite from

switch off your pc and then restart your pc.
The Nokia OVI Suite that came along with your device is not the latest one, you can get the latest one from above link
Check this issue in the latest OVI Suite from nokia site.

5800 XM Screen color change after the firmware upd...

I not sure if any other facing this problem also, but my Nokia 5800 XM screen color will change for a while from time to time then back to normal since after I have the firmware updated to v20.0.012.

5800 touch screen response

Sometimes Nokia 5800 touch screen does not work when I get an incoming call and press the accept button.
Did anybody share the same experience ?
Does anybody has any solution to offer?

Sometimes I need to touch it more than once, but it usually works. This happens less often since updating to V31.

5800 XpressMusic Screen...

I'm having a problem with my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic screen...
When i turn the screen on, receive a phone call or even make a call (anything that turns the screen on) the screen blurres, when i use the buttons "blindly" for a while the screen returns back.
I really don't know what's wrong with the screen, i don't know if the problem is with the screen or it's a software issue...
Please if anyone can help me out..

Nokia 5800 Screen Problems After Firmware Update V...

Hi all,
I have the Nokia 5800 navigation edition. I just updated the firmwareon it from V40. to the latest available 51.2.007. Doing so has turned the phone's screen into a huge mess - the lower half of the screen is all white and the upper half has some weired flickering and the icons(the ones that are visible) are all messed up too and some of them are not responding at all.
Heres what I've done to resolve the problem:
- remove the battery, memory and sim cards for a few hours.
- reboot the phone without the memory card(eliminating any corrupt setup files).
- reinstalled the V51.2.007 update several times using bothe the Ovi Suite and the older Nokia PC Suite updater.
- tried running the updates on all XP, Vista and Windows 7.
Can you please advise me of any other possible solutions I can try. Is there any way to revert back to the older firmware. The phone was working just fine before the update.

There is another way to hard reset your phone and it is as follows.
With your phone powered off, press and hold Green + Red + Camera Keys. Then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping the three keys depressed until you see the Nokia Shaking Hands Logo.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
This reset will revert the phone to its out of the box state, so it will revert back to the original version of Maps that came with the phone. However, this should be an issue as you can easily redownload and reinstall the latest again.

Multiple screens for my nokia 5800 like N8

Hi,
I am using Nokia 5800, but I am really impressed with N8's three screen which comes with Symbian 3 OS.
Is there any way that we can upgrade Nokia 5800's S52 OS to Symbian 3 OS??
Because I wanted to have three screen combo..Its great thing we have got into N8..which I can not afford now. I don't prefer to use applications like GDesk for multiple screens.
Rather I would be happy if we can have upgrade for symbian OS...
Please advice!!

Nokia 5800 [ Screen and phone problems]

I got a problem with my nokia 5800 screen,
sometimes when my brightness is bellow 80% 2-3 flikering lines apear wherever i am ( home screen, watching a video, browser,call someone etc.)
when brightness is at 80% its normal always( maybe of the high brightness i may not see the lines)
however this is annoying and i want to know if i can do anything about it !
on top of that my phones shuts down suddenly on its own randomly!
the phone is functioning well running app without any problem and watching videos !

The 5800 is getting on in years now so it's definitely a hardware issue your facing. Your best bet is to visit a Nokia Care Point and see if it's worth the cost of repair otherwise you'd be better off getting a new phone.
