Nokia 5800 XpressMusic device software update issu...

Hi all,
I can't update my phone's device software whatever via cell phone or Nokia Software Updater application. My phone's software version is 31.2.101 and the latest software release for Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is 50.0.005. Every time I will get "No update available".
Also, anyway can install language pack? I am looking for the chinese language pack for this phone. Many thanks!

    Hi guys,
    I got the phone on 17th Nov 2009. After two weeks, the phone hang and restart for no reason. And also all my data was gone from the memory card. I brought my device to Nokia Care to check and they upgraded my firmware to V31 (previous was V21). Everything seems okay to me except for the memory card. They did not do anything even though I have been promised will be getting new memory card. I thought that maybe with new firmware added, I will not be facing the same problem. But after few days later same problem occured. The device hang and restart for several time while I was connected to the internet. And again all my data in my memory card was gone. After that I discovered new firmware available (V40.00.05). I upgrade it on my own. I dial *#0000# and just follow the instruction given to update the firmware. Everything seems perfect. But after that, another problem appears. Somehow I unable to connect my phone as a modem. It shows the cable is not supported. But I able to transfer the data to my laptop. Before this no problem to connect my phone as modem. Any advice?

    -make a backup of the phone memory, excluding the phone settings (uncheck the box) using pc suite.
    -use this to re-update the phone (type the model in the search box and select it)  http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/download-software/device-software-update
    -after the update do this to reset the phone (it will delete everything from the phone memory only, not the memory card)
    1) With the phone turned off
    2) Press and hold [Green]  + [Red] + [Camera] Keys
    3) Keep pressing them while you turn the phone on until you see the nokia shaking hands Logo.
    After that the phone will be resetted to the firmware defaults. (if you have succeeded it you will see the "select country" list.
    -now restore the backup to the phone by following the programs instructions. Finished!
    Now you only have to change again the settings of the phone to adjust it in the way you like. If the problem still persist the memory card might be faulty, try to format it using the phone itself. (Note that you will lose all the data in it, try to take a copy of the photos, songs and some other of your stuff only to a pc, before you format. Leave the applications and other data which don’t “belong” to you alone)
    If you face the same problem again visit them again and explain them what you have done so far, and ask them to help you again!

  • Nokia Astound C7 OVI Software Update Issues....?

    My husband and I both got the Nokia Astound C7, we both r having issues updating the OVI store software on the device itself and from the PC...is anyone else having the same issue?  We really like this phone and would really like to get the full use of it's capabilities, but can not b/c the OVI software doesn't "Update" on r phones...hope we get help w/this as soon as possible!

  • Nokia 5800 RM-428 software update

    Hello, I have a Nokia 5800 from Rogers with software version 31.2.101. I have heard about the new software 52.0.007 and I was wondering how can i download/upgrade to it. I have used both the Nokia Ovi Suite and the Software Updater but no avail. Both of them read "no update available." Is it because my phone is locked to Rogers and they do not allow the update or is there anyway I can bypass and install the new software. Any help would be appreciated.

    I have 51.2.007 installed in my Nokia 5800 (RM-428) Product Code 0561618. NSU v3.0.223 indicates that mine us up to date. Unless they add a featue like cover flow to the media player I don't know what they would be doing in this update. It runs pretty good now. Big improvement over v21 and especially over v40, which resulted in Nokia replacing my handset.

    Hey I was hoping someone would be able to help me. I've got a nokia 5800 express music phone. I updated it but then the phone got locked. It keeps saying code error and the green+red+camera thing isn't working as well... I got the phone from England but now I'm using it in sri lanka...So pls pls help me.....

    Sorry, there is no software currently available for that product code via the Nokia Software Update tool.
    it means that my phone doesn't exist for nokia?

    This will work only if Nokia has released an update for this specific phone and it is an unbranded or unlocked phone. If bought through a cell carrier, Nokia will not touch it and the only solution is to wait until the cell carrier releases the update.

  • NOKIA 5800 OTA "phone software" update not startin...

    Hello,
    I am trying to update the phone software via the software update application on my phone. I dont know if I have the option to do it on my laptop as I have a mac. Anyway, so I have done other updates this morning, ovi maps with sat nav, adobe lite and these started no problem however the "phone software" just doesnt do anything when I press the start update button or go option start update.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • Nokia N80 Internet Edition Software Update Issue

    Hi,
    I would like to express my disappointment for the poor service that Nokia has given me. I purchased a Nokia cellphone because I believed it was a reliable company. Nokia is operating in a global world, promoting online upgrades internationally. This does not rely on borders, and yet, on the ground Nokia is inflexible and has not responded to the mobile global population. Despite being within the warranty period, I have to pay a considerable sum of money to fix a problem caused by the online upgrades that Nokia promote.
    I used the New Zealand Nokia website to update my Nokia N80i software, and the message on my PC said that the update was completed successfully. When I tried to use the phone there was a message on the screen telling me to contact my retailer. From then on my problems started.
    I called the New Zealand Nokia call centre (where I live) and I explained the problem and they advised me to go to the nearest care center, and I did that. As this unit was purchased from abroad (Singapore), I was advised that as the New Zealand care centre is unable to service my Nokia N80i.
    I was told to send the phone to a Nokia Care Centre in Singapore because they would have the current issue on hand. Even though the fault was caused by the computer updates, I was informed that the issue would need to meet Nokia's warranty guidelines and be within its warranty period (my phone was under the warranty period at the time) for the repair to be covered under warranty. In any case, I had to cover all handling charges such as courier charges. Having received this advice I paid for the phone (with warranty card) to be couriered to Singapore.
    Nokia NZ told me if the phone has been posted to the care centre in Singapore, I should tell them IMEI Number, Date of Purchase, Airway Bill / Consignment Number - which I did.
    I then went through a very painful process of dealing with Customs Singapore regarding GST charges. Before it left customs (as I didn't want to pay GST on an item I wasn't importing into Singapoer), I received a call from the Singapore care center advising me that they cannot fix my phone as it is from the Hong Kong market (even though it was purchased in Singapore!!!!) I'm not sure how they could tell me this now (when they hadn't received the phone in Singapore) as they couldn't tell me this when the phone was in New Zealand.
    They now said I needed to send it to Hong Kong instead. I told them I could not afford to pay anymore money as I already spent lots to send the phone to them, only to have it return to New Zealand at my cost (which happened when I didn't pay the excessive GST charges).
    Nokia then told me to throw my phone in the rubbish and forget about it because they are not responsible for it.
    This whole process was ludicrous. The phone was working fine before I tried to use the online update feature, and yet, Nokia refuse to take responsibility for the faults caused by their updates.
    Right now I am left with a dead phone. Can anybody help me to fix it?

    I am very sorry to hear about your predicament. I always keep my fingers and toes crossed when I update firmware as it can be a risky exercise.
    Nokia warranties are usually only valid in the country the phone is meant for, except for European phones where the warranty is valid all over Europe.
    I read another thread where someone else got their phone to work following a similar problem to your. Have a look at the thread below.

  • Music player locked (Nokia 5800 XpressMusic)

    Hello all. I've got a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic whose software I've just updated via Ovi Suite. The phone seems to work OK, but the media player (well, the music player to be exact) does not. My music library doesn't show up, and whenever I tell the phone to update the media library, it begins to work, and locks when it reaches 140 music files, everytime. Then it becomes unstable, sometimes I can close it but sometimes I must remove the battery for the phone to became usable again.
    I'm using software V50.0.005,  custom version 50.0.005.201.13, language group 09, model 5800 XpressMusic, Type RM-356.
    Any help there? Thanks in advance.

    Well, I've searched deeper in the forums, and found how to solve this. All it needed was a hard reset, after a backup, of course. It is now working like a charm.

    I have nokia 5800- XpressMusic. product code 0575590.
    I read that there was a new firmware available for 5800 which is 50.0.005
    I tried to get the firmware over the air and was successful in doing so.
    I have been checking the nokia support website for software updates for the same product code and see it change from 40 to 30 and back to 40 every few days..
    wats up with that??

  • Update Nokia 5800 XpressMusic software

    Hello,
    I update my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic through Nokia Suite on my personal computer.
    Step 1. Get Started and Step 2. Back up was successfully done. On Step 3. Install, I follow the instructions. Then my phone screen turns white. Then the logo of Nokia and its version was displayed on the screen. Then it shut-down/turned OFF by itself. A message on my Nokia Suite(on my PC) says "Your phone is restarting" and an instructions below says "Take a look at your phone. If it asks you for your PIN code, time and date, or your Nokia account details, type them on your phone. You may also need to choose the Nokia Suite (or Nokia Ovi Suite, or PC Suite) USB mode on your phone. Then wait for the installation to continue.".. So I wait. Then a follow up message show that says "If your phone does not restart, remove and re-insert the battery, charger, and the USB cable. Then switch the phone on.".
    So I follow the instruction. I removed and re-insert the battery, charger, and the usb cable. Then I switch the phone on. BUT the problem is.. it doesn't turn ON. Still off. When I long-press the POWER button, it vibrates but it doesn't continue to turn ON. I hear continues pop-up sound on my PC when the USB cable was connected. But still nothing happens.
    Your immediate advice is highly appreciated on this matter. Thanks in advance.

  • Problem updating Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

    Hello,
    First excuse me for my bad English.
    I have just updated my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic with the USB cable and plugged into the mains. At the end of the update, a window told me that I could unplug my phone and nothing more since it does not turn over: just a vibration but no screen display. I removed the battery and did another test and still nothing. Is there a solution or should I return it to the VAS.

    Hi, Did the phone complete the hard reset? I.e. after the phone is completely started up, it prompts for a country selection? To do the reset, the phone must be turned off first, then hold the relative buttons together / simultaneously while turning on, until prompted for the country selection.
    If you managed to complete the hard reset, and your problem is still occurring, then please keep me updated as to how you resolved it, just incase I need to also try it

  • Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Gallery, Accelerometer etc ...

    Hey everyone, got a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic as my birthday gift. Love its camera, style, features etc. But there has been some Issues I am facing/discovered recently. Please help me!
    Gallery:
    I've got some ringtones I transferred from my old phone. But the problem is they are listed in the "Songs" folder, in the Music Library. This is a bit frustrating because I don't want ringtones to play when I want to play all of the songs. eh? They won't move to the "Sound Clips" folder. I've tried many things...but I couldn't fix it. Pls help
    Another thing is that when I load up my device with new Images and videos, they don't get added to the "Images and Videos" folder, unless I move them to the folder which the phone created itself and saves the pics and vdos captured by the camera. Then they get added to the gallery..I think. Is this a issue or it supposed to be like this? Pls tell!
    Accelerometer:
    Sometimes when I had to restart the device, after it freezes or hangs up etc. The accelerometer sometimes doesn't work. When I put the phone horizontally (to rotate the screen or images) It doesn't work. And I had to restart the device again to make it work..(the device takes a while to boot up though..)
    Other "funny" stuffs: 
    I've heard that you can put up to four contacts in the contacts bar (favorite four). But in my one, I can put up more than four! How's that?
    When I press the media key and activate the media bar, then tap the "Images and videos" icon, shouldn't it directly navigate me to the Images and Video folder? But it takes me to the gallery homepage, (where u select where u want to go, Images and videos, songs, sound clips, other media etc) why is that?
    Current software version: V 52.0.007 . Updated it using Nokia Ovi Suite. Previous version was V 52.0.004 .
    Full model name: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Navigation Edition. Bought on Dec 13, 2010

    gallery: it's supposed to be like tht. Irritating but the problem is all .mp3, .mp4 sound files are read as music files.. Sound files r .amr and .wav files i guess.
    Accelerometer: chk if ur memory card is corrupt or not. After update, did u try hard resettin? F u dnt hv much data to lose, u cud do a hard/soft reset, using *#7370# code. Nd if u make a backup before reset, which u should, avoid restorin the settings and files after the reset.
    If u'v lot of data to lose, try switchin off the mobile, remove battery, sim, memory card for 10/15mins., reinsert and switch on. If this doesn't solve, resettin is ur final option.
    As for contact bar, i donno if tht's how it is in Navigation edition. If it isn't, resettin will surely solve this. But do not restore settings frm backup after reset.
    The one touch image icon is supposed to do tht. No issues.
    Memory card corrupt: ths s not necessary, but u could check ur memory card. For this u'l have to attach ur fone to pc in 'mass storage' mode. Open my computer on pc. Rt click on ur memory card nd goto properties. Under tools tab u'd find 'check disk for errors'. Run tht. If there'r any corrupt files, it'l be solved. In my experience corrupt card usually leads to some or the other issues in the phone..

  • W510 not compatible with Nokia 5800 XpressMusic headset (earpiece)?

    Hi all,
    Have anyone came across this problem? I have 2 of those headset and I tried both in my W510. When I played any music source, the sound is so diffused like as if it works like a surround speaker that only produce presence sound. To get the vocal, I have to shift the Balance to the extreme left or right. First time encounter such problems. However, other headset work fine with my W510.

    Rest of all are updated...
    I have tried my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic headset on my other 2 desktops and 2 laptops, it work perfectly, I guess it has some incompatibility or something, Disable all enhancement in Sound does not solve the problems.

    did you update your phone to the latest firmware for your phone currently it is v30......but it just got released so it may not be avaliable for all product codes just yet. also is your phone unbranded./unlocked if that is the case then you have a better change of updating than with a provider.

    you can also try FOTA from your phone by plugging *#0000# on your home screen and see if your phone can pulll the updates.

  • Problems to sincronize Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic with...

    My Nokia 5800 xpressmusic sistematically sincronizes extremely bad with Outlook in Windows 7. Either it duplicates contacts, or sincronizes some and some not, many contacts incomplete but with duplicated info within, or deletes from Outlook contacts that I need, or aborts the sincronisation randomly.
    The last time I had erased all the contacts, notes and calendar from the mobile in order to sincronize from scratch with a laboriously just depurated Outlook and what happened? it deleted half of the contacts, the notes apparently sincronized well, and the calendar aborted the sincronization repeatedly. Does anyone have a clue o what is going wrong before I buy another mobile brand?The software in the mobile and OVI Suite are updated. Anyway, this has been happening with previous versions as well. Another problem is that the fields in Contacts do not match after sincronization with those in Outlook, and the information in each contact is partially duplicated and/or incomplete. I can send printed screen of the windows in which the errors have been informed.

    I have exactly the same problem.
    It is very often impossible to synchronize.
    I am able to send SMS-messages (via bluetooth connection), but unable to synchronize.
    When clicking on the "synchronize" button or when choosing "synchronize" from the pulldown menu, OVI Suite may or may not synchronize.
    I am unable to keep my Calendar in sync.
    If this does not get resolved soon, I will get another phone and it  will certainly not be a Nokia.
