Nokia 5800XM Radio Tuner Gets Freezed

Hi. Im having a nokia 5800XM with the latest firmware update and im having a problem regarding the radio tuner, that is most of the time the radio player gets freezed and cannot switch to another preset frequency or exit the application, inorder to do so is to turn the phone off and restart it. This problem is for the radio tuner only, the music player works fine without any issue. Please help me with this situation.

Have you tried to repair "Nokia connectivity cable driver" (right click) under Uninstall or change a program?
You also should use Ovi suite.

Why Nokia 5800xm is not getting any updates, i think its left out , We spent Rs 20000(arnd) for this phone and we are no where in the competition , no processor tweaks, no os tweaks by means of software updates and most importantly the basic software updates like Flash Lite 4 for S60 5th edition phones as Nokia 5800 supports it . Any replies positive /negative will be appreciated. Just ma view , thnx a lot NOKIA and BETA LABS , you people are doing a great job !!

Nokia 5800XM Freeze Up

Hi Guys
I am running a Nokia 5800XM on firmware V21.0.025. It is a new phone, 2 days old and today I got a irregular freeze. When I picked up the phone to check the time, the incoming call screen appeared (did not hear a ring @ all) and the entire screen froze. Nothing responded, so I had to remove the battery in order to restart it.
I did some searches and people have suggested to check the firmware; it is the most up to date on for my product code.
Does anyone know why this problem occurs and how would I go about fixing it. I purchased this phone of a guy (I'm in Canada) and the phone says warranty is good in Nigeria only...
Any help will be appreciated.

Aah I see. Well yes, the firmware is not perfect, so there are random freezes but they are quite rare. Not all random freezes are caused by the same underlying problem. If you notice it happen again and repeatedly then you can start worrying.
Firmware v30 is said to fix many internal bugs, and it is slowly getting rolled out to more and more regions. Keep checking your phone for a FotA update. In the dialler, type *#0000# , then Options->Check for updates. You'll get it soon, probably within the the next week or so.

Nokia 5800XM Freeze

Hi, i have a Nokia 5800XM with software version 51 and i have a big problem: if i try to sent 3 or 4 photos to another phone with Bluetooth, the phone freeze completely; i can to restart the phone removing battery only.
i tried sometimes and with different phones and phone freeze-crash always at 2nd or 3rd photo-image sent.
Nokia 5800 with fw 51 and pc 0596011. I tried with reset and with a reinstall software but problem persist
Is possible to update to firmware 52 and solve this problem?

I think you should go with you Nearest Nokia Priority Center because at there you can get solution for your Mobile and If you phone in varranty then service charge will be not count so according to me, you should go there.

How does one get a radio station listed in the iTunes Radio Tuner?

Hi!
I am CIO for Head On Radio Network, http://www.headonradionetwork.com
We have a live 24/7 Liberal/Progressive political talk radio stream which may be found at http://server2.whiterosesociety.org:8000/HeadOnRadioHQ and we would very much like to have this listed in the iTunes Radio Tuner.
We produce 60 hours of original programming every week, and also have permission to do a "The Best Of The Mike Malloy Show" in the wake of his firing by Air America, and that is appearing at 10pm ET every weeknight. When we are not live, we replay recent shows from the live stream.
I think that having HORN on the iTunes player would be an asset to Apple.
Who do I contact? Is there some sort of application form?

Sorry, but there's no mechanism for getting a station added to the iTunes Tuner list. No one outside of Apple knows who's running the server that maintains the list since 3Com shut down Kerbango, the previous host of the list, and for some unknown reason Apple has not provided any way of contacting the current provider or administrator for making changes or additions.
I can only guess why this is the case; perhaps Apple doesn't want to bog iTunes down with potentially a huge list of stations (there are after all hundreds if not thousands of iTunes-compatible streams available) and so only provides a sampling.
You might want to consider listing your station through Live 365 or ShoutCast or another such streaming service. That would get it to the attention of a lot of people.

Nokia Internet Radio Error: Connection Timed Out. ...

Hi,
I'm having an issue with the Nokia Internet Radio application on the Nokia N95. The app launches ok but if I try and browse the station directory or perform a search I get the error 'Connection Timed Out. Try Again' This happens almost instantly i.e. it doesn't look like it's even trying to connect. If I go to the shoutcast site and click on the 'Tune In' button next to a station the Internet radio app launches and I get an error saying 'General: System Error' and the application closes then goes back to the browser and a message saying 'Web: No Gateway Reply' The application worked fine up until recently. I upgraded to FW V 21.0.016 and hasn't worked since so it may be that this has caused the problem. I've removed and re-downloaded \ re-installed the software but still get the same issue. Web browsing works fine, so I know my internet settings are fine, and the old open-source version of the radio player even works so it's just an issue with this app. Any advice on how to fix it would be much appreciated. I had the same problem and I fixed it. For me, it was because I am on the Rogers network in Canada. Regardless of where you are many cellular neworks use firewalls and something called NAT (Network Address Translation). Nokia should really make people aware of this because probably 50% of people around the world have this problem. The solution for me was to use Rogers VPN or Public IP to access the internet. Rogers blocks access to this internet connection so you have to add the service to your account for $10 per month but I have heard that other carriers like FIDO have not blocked access to it.
On the Nokia n79 this requires creating a new access point under TOOLS>SETTINGS>CONNECTIONS>DESTINATIONS. Add a new access point with the following settings:
Connection Name: Rogers VPN (or whatever you want to call it)
Data Bearer: Packet Data
Access Point Name: vpn.com
User Name: wapuser1
Prompt Password: No
Password: wapuser
Authenticaiton: Normal
Homepage: None
Use Access Point: After Confirmation (or change if you want something else)
That's it. When you load the internet radio Application and it lists your options select "Rogers VPN". If you don't see it in the list, press the soft button for Options then "Select Access Point" and you will see the full list. If you want the VPN to be the first thing you see you can change the priority under destination settings. Just select the VPN and press "Organize" then "Change priority".

NOKIA 5800XM - Calls not transferred to headset

Hi, I am Austin, I purchased a nokia 5800xm 2 months back and it worked flawlessly. I updated the firmware to 30v and it was even better, the headset that was bundled with the handset also worked fine, Butsince past week even though all the function keys on the remote and earphones work properly on the headset [radio/music player] when i get a call i cant hear it on the earphones but instead on the handset earpiece. I did a soft reset a few days back but after i installed a few apps the problem has resurfaced!!!
I have only installed opera 5 beta, myphone 2.2, pictureflow and a few simple themes nothing else...
Please help me!!! Im really confused if i should take it to the service centre or there is something i must enable???

Easiest way to get a demo going is to do this:
1) Create a 'skill' in the RmCm subsystem menu in appadmin, call it Test
2) Create a Contact Service Queeu in the RmRm subsystem menu, and call is TestCSQ
3) On the CSQ properties, configure it for skills-based routing and add the 'Test' skill on the second page.
4) On your application, configure the 'icd.aef' script. This is a simple ACD type demo. Set the CSQ property of the application to "TestCSQ" (this must match your CSQ name identically)
5) Assign the Test skill to your agent in the RmCm/resources menu
At this point you should be able to dial your trigger and hear some prompts. If you log in as your agent, they shoudl received the call.
Note that to transfer the call to the agent, the CSS of the CTI Ports (i.e. the Call Control Group) must have the agent DN partition in it.
Also if you have only standard, you will need to create a Resource Group instead of a skill, and set that on the agent and the CSQ.

Work around for radio tuner service not working

A work around for the lack of radio tuner service that has appearently hit Itunes versions lower than 11.
We all hope that Apple will restore Radio Tuner Service for us legacy products users soon, but I've been thrown under the bus more than once by Apple in the last 25 yrs to put much hope in that (I started with an Apple III w/a Z80 card running C/PM, yeah I'm that old)
Have your iTunes and your favorite browser open.
In your browser go to http://vtuner.com/setupapp/guide/asp/BrowseStations/startpage.asp
This will give you a list of Genre's, etc of streaming internet stations.
When you select a genre you'll get a list of stations that shows station ID, what type of feed codec and data rate.
Select any of the AAC or MP3 feeds.
Select play.
This will send a small download file to your computer containing the selected feeds URL.
Your computer will ask what app to use to open the file, select iTunes.
This will automatically open a file called Internet Songs at the end of Playlists in iTunes (if you don't already have one), and will install the URL there.
All the stations you selected will now be permanently stored in Internet Songs.
Viola, your very own custom personal internet radio playlist!

Apperently iTunes 11 is not affected (Apple stil makes iTunes11 for the 14 yr old Microsoft XP OS, but not for anything PPCs can run. Go figure)

On 9.2.1/10.4.11 differences, some time in the past someone selected 'save file' and checked the box 'don't ask again' on your computers dialog box. That's why you're not given a choice wih the file downloads. I would think that selection should be able to be reversed.
iTunes 9.2.1/OS10.4.11 puts those downloaded URLs into the Music Libary of iTunes, no matter if it's opened directly, or you click on the file on your desktop. You can create a new playlist, highlight the selection in the Music Libary, and drag it to your new playlist to keep alll the steaming URLs together. NOTE, this only creates an alias, the URL copied by iTunes must remain in the Music Libary. You can then delete the the files on the desktop, if you want. I did multiple stations this way in 9.2.1, they all show in either the new playlist created, or in the Music Libary, and remain after the desktop files are deleted and trash emptied.
You can switch sations by double clicking them. Another note, all the URLs were all from vtune.

Has anyone been able to succesfully use the Nokia internet radio app on the N8?
I tried downloading it - but when i try to lauch - it does nothing - the screen flashes for a second as if its loading - but does nothing ....

Adding stations manually in nokia net radio

i am currently experiencing problems adding , then connecting to stations on nokia net radio app i have a n95-2 running firmware v30.0.018 i have managed to install correctly net radio and net radio keyspace, but when i add my friends radio station address i get a unable to connect to station message.
as far as i understand you can connect to mp3 streams , so why am i having this problem .... aarrgghh!!! help
please if anyone knows how to add these streams let me know it would be greatly appreiciated.

I have problem too. After updating with the new 2.02 version i can't listen nothing. When i choose some region or station i recive Loading and then Time-out. I use my WLAN like before. With the oldest version of Nokia Internet Radio i don't have any problems. Please help me,how can i install the previous version? Can you give me some link where i can download the old version. Still no Nokia Internet Radio for N97?!

In order to listen to Internet radio, like I always do with my N96, I have to purchase the JoikuSpot so that my N97 can become a Wi-Fi hotspot. And then I have to use my old N96 to connect to my N97 via Wi-Fi and listen to Internet radio using the N96. A temporary solution, I am OK with it. But this long wait is getting silly. And there ain't any other alternatives in the OVI Store either. No, not in firmware version 20. I hope Nokia can release a timeline or even a statement if and when, if or not Nokia Internet Radio will appear in N97 (and other touchscreen phones).
And no, the version in OVI Store supposedly for the N97 cannot be installed.

N900, N95

I tunes is freezing up mid play and freezing everything else including internet at the same time.

I have a lot of music in I Tunes and recently it's been unexpectedly freezing[spinning icon] in the middle of playback and if I happen to be doing something else such as e mailing or on line or whatever, all activities freeze up as well,but only sometimes.I know that this is I Tunes related because it NEVER happens if I am not using I Tunes at the time.I have all of the updates including the latest one today and still I encounter this. At times I tunes will freeze up while I am merely changing info or trying to create a playlist. It normallly takes about five or more minuites for it to free up again and resume play. Sometimes it will freeze while simply loading the music and artwork when I first enter i tunes. Very frustrating. I wonder if someone might be able to advise. I have roughly 5000 albums in I tunes, almost all Progressive rock meaning that they contain rather long pieces of music. It adds up to about 500 GB of music. Is that too much? I have a 1 TB hard drive with about 325 GB still available. Have I gone too far with my prog obsession and made my I Tunes "tired"? Thanks.

Networking is not easy.. if you don't know or understand it.. there is nothing wrong with saying I don't understand.. think of the whole thing as the washing machine.. get a computer tech in.. and say.. repair it.
My question to you is the TC wan port the one that has a circle because the other 3 ports on my TC have I am assuming ethernet ports.
When I did this again there was no signal to access internet so I reverted back to the modem connect to my computer to send you this message.

Yes the TC wan port is slightly spaced from the rest and has a different symbol. There being one WAN port and three LAN ports.
But you did not follow all my instructions.. You did not.. shut down the whole network.. including powering off the modem.. or you give no indication that you did so. It will not ever work unless you do that. I also indicated this may need a longer power off.. or battery removed. depending on the type of service you have.
Did you do that.
If not then it cannot work.

Thank you for your post. The availability of radio stations available in nokia radio may vary depending on your area. If that list does not include some BBC channels, you can always download BBC iPlayer which has all of them.
