Nokia 6070 - First charging of the battery

Hi, does anyone know if I have to first-charge the battery for 16 hours or is 2 hours (or what it takes to fully charge it) enough? I don't wanna under-charge it, but also not over-charge it, because I hear it's not good for the battery if you leave it charging for too long.

All new batteries are made in a state that allows a long shelf life, to "kick" start the battery you need to charge it, with the phone off preferably, for at least 12 hours before using the phone. Then let it go flat before charging again for nother 12 hours. If you don't do this then the battery may not acheive maximum capacity.

  • After it's first charge, does the battery need to be completely empty

I bought an iPhone4 today, and was told to use the phone and let the battery completely run out prior to it's 1st charge.
However, on turning it on, it has 3/4 full battery and says I need to connect it to iTunes before I can use it, unless I want to make an emergency call.
I don't want to ruin the full capacity, but then I don't want to find that I'm still waiting for the battery to die in 3 days!
    What can I do?

Ignore what you were told. The iPhone battery has no memory effect, charge whenever you like. You cannot overcharge, as charging automatically stops when your battery is full. Read more here:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Does keeping a macbook pro plugged in even when fully charged damage the battery in any way?

Does keeping a macbook pro plugged in even when fully charged damage the battery?

no it will not, your battery stops charging when it reaches 100%.  you can verify this if you'd like to through system report - power.
once in a while however, it's best to use it under it's own power and charge it back up once it's down to 75% to keep the battery in optimal condition.

My iPod shows that my battery is receiving energy and that it is "charging," but it doesn't actually charge. The battery never increases; it only decreases. Even when I have it physically plugged in and charging, it loses battery whenever I am using an APP or anything. I'm thinking that the chip that receives the energy is damaged or worn out. Is there anyway to fix it without going to the store? My USB chords is fine. It charges other iPods fine. Including a second generation iPod which means my 4th generation iPod should not have an physical battery problem. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Please find "System Information" in this folder path---Applications > Utilities---and launch it. When it opens, find "Power" in the left-hand contents pane and click it to get something like this in teh main pane:
Copy everything in the "Battery Information" and copy/paste it here. The number values in that report may help us diagnose what is happening.
Also, did you buy this battery directly from Apple or from another source. There are an increasing number of reports showing up that suggests some counterfeit batteries being sold.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. You can leave the charger plugged in, as you cannot overcharge...charging automatically stops when your battery is full. Once every 2 ~ 3 months, its a good idea to drain the battery to about ~ 40%, then recharge to full. Otherwise, you can charge whenever you like & leave connected whenever you like.
Try to avoid full battery discharges, Lithium batteries don't like that & frequent full discharge/recharge cycles will eventually kill your battery.

  • PLEASE HELP. I CAN"T FIND THE EXACT NUMBER OF INTIAL CHARGING OF THE BATTERY

    hi.
i just got my blackberry 8520 curve and i am a newbie on this kind of phone. i was wondering how long is the initial charging of the battery because unlike other phones you need to charge them overnight or 6-8 hours. i checked it on the web and i got inconsistent number of hours regarding the initial charging. i was told that you only need to intial charge the battery for 2hours but i am worried that it wasn't enough. would it be ok if i charge it agen to its recommended intial charging even though i charged it for 2hours only? please help. i would really appreciate any help given. thanks

    oops figured it out! THANKS!

  • My iphone 4 will not charge and the battery is dead how do i fix this?

My iphone 4 will not charge and the battery is dead how do i fix this?

If it's still under warranty, Apple will fix it, but you have to send it to them, so you won't have it for several weeks. If the warranty is expired, they'll still do it, but you'll have to pay for it. Last I heard, it costs $99/S&H.
That is the ultimate defect in the iPhone. No other cellphone has a battery that is not user-replaceable. I won't buy a phone that doesn't.

Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.  If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.
Suggest that you take full advantage of the above.
