Nokia 6103 connecting

Do you need isync for a cell to connect to the mac.. OSX10.3
I am curious before I buy a cable to connect it, does it just come up on the desktop like a harddrive for me to drop things in and take things off it? or do I need it to run through isync for it to work at all?
if so I am screwed cuz isync 1.x doesn't support my phone. and I really doubt apple will bother with older OS's.
So unless there is a solution to that, other than upgrade my OS etc.
Important!!!
I am just curious about what happens when I connect the Nokia phone to my computer through USB. if it will recognize it, and if I can take the pictures off it and download new ones onto it without isync.
Thanks.

iSync has nothing at all to do with transferring files to and from mobile phones. It is for syncing Address Book contacts and iCal events and to dos.
Have you tried sending files via Bluetooth?

  • Sending contacts to Nokia 6103 via bluetooth

    Good morning, everyone!
I'm having some trouble with the bluetooth connection between my MBP (C2D) and my Nokia 6103 telephone. Specifically, I am trying to send the contents of my addressbook from the MBP to the Nokia. However, I'm only able to send one contact at a time and the connection turns off and back on between each contact. I'm presuming (hoping?) that I'm missing something quite obvious.
Can anyone offer some help? (I've posted this same question in the bluetooth area.)
    Thanks!

    Good Evening!
The obvious thing I think you may be missing is iSync.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/
Open the Bluetooth preferences pane, click the Devices tab, then click the 'Setup new device..." button, then follow the instructions.
iSync will handle the synchronisation of Contacts and Calendars between your phone and Mac. Its not necessary to do it manually from Address Book.

  • Windows does not recognise nokia 3500 connected wi...

Generally I use my phone as a modem . As I didn't have a usb cable I used bluetooth to connect my phone. I tried to upgrade my phone's software using it's onboard software updater it says "no update found" though my phone's software version is 5.51 . Then I tried to use software updater but it said I need a data cable. Then I bought a cable. I connected my phone and choosed nokia mode . Phone shows that it has been connected but pc shows nothing-no sound,no pop ups nothing. Then I opened nokia pc suite but it was showing "no phone connected." . I opened the get connected wizard and selected cable connection but it was showing please connect your phone though my phone was connected. I used different ports and found no problem with the ports . Then I tried to connect nokia 6500s and nokia 3110 classic. Nokia 6500 connects with no problem but 3110 classic has the same problem as 3500c (which has same mini connector socket like 3500c). I used three different data cables but no luck with none of them. How to solve this?

  • New Sim on Nokia 6103 - will i lose my messages?

I'm planning on buying a contract Sim for my old Nokia 6103, but I don't want to lose my messages. I read on here that messages are usually saved onto the phone memory, not sim, but I don't know how to find out if they are saved on my phone or sim card (I'm not good with technology)
Help? The new sim is a Tesco one, current sim is T-Mobile, if that makes any difference. Also, if i need to unlock my phone to allow the new sim, does that delete stuff?
    ~Callie

one simple way to find out is to remove the sim card then see if messages are still there ,you will need to get the phone unlocked to insert new sim ,if you bought the phone from t mobile and have had it for a certain period of time they can give you the unlock code
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Nokia N70 connected in non compatible mode

First here are some facts: Im Using Pc Suite v6.83 on Windows XPsp2. Im using USB cable to connect to my N70.
Now here's the problem: The first time I used PC Suite after Installation, it worked fine. When I used it again the second time, it acted strangely. It didn't detect my phone correctly. It detected the N70 alright, but a baloon popped up from the PC suite Icon on the system tray saying "nokia n70 connected in non compatible mode". Then when I went to the Get Connected wizard, a warning popped up which says "Your phone is in file transfer mode and connot be used with PC suite. quit file transfer mode from the phone if you want to use PC suite". I wonder how could this be since I know that the N70 has no file transfer mode.
Then after finally having my phone detected correctly after diconnecting then connecting the USb cable, my system detected the phone as a digital camera imaging device and as a mass storage device, showing up in windows explorer aside from showing up in the Nokia Phone browser. I Don't think this is a normal bahaviour.
Then the third time I tried to use PC suite, it detected the phone as bing in in non compatible mode again. Yhis time disconnecting and reconnecting the USb cable didn't help.
I found some strange things in the windows device manager too. I found out that under portable device, the N70 was there but disabled and labled as not properly working.
Have you guys encounterd this prblem before? If you did maybe you can help me resolve it. Thanks in advance!

  • Nokia PC Connectivity Solution slow launch of Offi...

    Hello ,
I work as IT support for a company.
I have a problem with Nokia PC Connectivity Solution software that came with Nokia_PC_Suite_rel_6_86_9_0_eng_web and also with new Nokia_PC_Suite_rel_7_0_8_2_eng_web. Installation of this software cause all office documents ( word , excel ) to open very very slow. This happened only on Dell D530 models that i have in my company ( 20 pcs ) with intel centrino processors.
This has been study on 3 different laptops with Windows XP Pro SP2 and also SP3.
The procesor is not used , RAM is not used but files have a delay of about 10 seconds to open , even with empty files.
If i remove specificaly this software component - 'Nokia PC Connectivity' everything is back to normal , but of course the Nokia PC Suite application doesn't work. Problem appears only in Office 2007 but not in Office 2003.
    Thank you for your help.

This fixed it - thanks to a message from pvenalai - taken from another thread dealing with the same issue.

    Hi,
Problem solved! I have Dell D630 and it uses Toshiba Bluetooth stack by default. This stack causes the problem with PC Suite and Office. Workaround is to use Microsoft Bluetooth stack. Installation instructions can be found from article "Additional Bluetooth Drivers for Microsoft Bluetooth in Windows XP SP2" http://www.vinsvision.com/Articles/tabid/66/EntryID/13/Default.aspx
This may help to other 3rd party bluetooth stack users, too.

  • Nokia PC Suite VS Nokia PC Connectivity

This may be a noob question, so please forgive my ignorance.
Can someone please give me a concise rundown of what Nokia PC Suite & Nokia PC Connectivity Solution are?
I've been searching Google & all over & can't really get a distinction between the two. I'm largely unfamiliar with these applications, but because of some of the work I'm doing for my job I need to find this information out.
    Thank you all.
*Hopes & prays to not get flamed or trolled upon* (^_^)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There used to be separate versions of PC Suite for each and every phone model
At some point it evolved into a single, "unified" PC Suite version supporting all phone models (relatively current at the time and afterwards, ignoring support for many older models).
A few yeara later Nokia branched off parts (the core PC connectivity bits/components) from PC Suite to create a new application (user interface) called Ovi Suite (PC Suite was being kept updated alongside) based on Qt.
A couple of years later (last fall) Ovi Suite was renamed to Nokia Suite (as Nokia is gradually moving away from the "Ovi" brand it introduced in 2007).
    Latest Ovi/Nokia Suite here:
    http://www.comms.ovi.com/m/p/ovi/suite/English
    Latest PC Suite here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/nokia-pc-suite
If things haven't changed lately, you can even install both on the same PC, if you wish.
For N9 (MeeGo) Nokia also has the Nokia Link:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/nokia-link
And for Mac users Nokia has had stuff, too:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/mac-support
(Note: For Windows application developers Nokia has also released two different SDKs, Software Development Kits. For the phones prior to the "unified" PC Suite times, there is/was something called the "Nokia PC Connectivity SDK", and for the newer PC Suite supported phones there's the "PC Suite API", also known as "Nokia PC Suite Connectivity API".)

  • Nokia 6103 - Exiting from Text Editor

I have just got a Nokia 6103 and am very happy with it (much better interface than my old Motorola), but I have a problem with Text messages.
I create a text message and send it OK. I would then expect to be taken back to the main menu or message menu, but this phone takes me BACK into the Text editor, editing the message I've just sent. I then have to do Options => Exit Editor to get out. THEN it saves my message to my 'saved messages' folder, but of course I don't want it there as there is already a copy in my 'Sent Items'.
Can anyone tell me how I configure my phone to automatically exit the Text editor after sending a text message ?

You cannot set the phone to close the editor after sending a message.
What works is once selected "Send" and it starts sending just press the red phone and it will quit to the main screen and send your message in the background. Shortly afterwards it should tell you Message Sent (or failed), but you can use your phone in the meantime.

  • PC Suite 6.8 - Nokia 6230 - Connects ok but no Syn...

    Hi.
Finally got 6.8 to install on my Windows Xp SP2 machine.
Had the previous version installed and working ok. Had to uninstall/reinstall several times and use many of the fixes listed on this site to finally get 6.8 installed.
Phone connects via bluetooth ok and I can see files on the phone and transfer them back and forth.
PC Suite main window shows Nokia 6230 connected via Bluetooth.
Select synchronize. PC Sync window opens with Not Connected shown at the top of the form. The Synchronise Now and Settings buttons are greyed out. If I push Select Phone nothing happens.
Anyone any idea what the problem is ?

If you open File Manager in PC Suite and locate your phone at the left panel (you must have folders view in Windows Explorer), scroll to contacts folder under the phone, select update button phone with arrow in the upper area of the file manager window, do you get your contacts updated to PC from the phone ?
Just asking this question to narrow down the problem causes, if you get the contact to File Manager/Nokia Phone Browser, your syncronisation with the phone is propably OK, but the PC Sync application is stuck.
Another thing that may help PC Sync to realise the phone is connected is to open manage connections and untick the bluetooth option and then tick it back.
The is also a separate exit option in PC Sync, if you locate the jingjang symbol from Windows tray(bottom right of your screen)right click the icon you can see exit. Choose that and then reopen PC Sync from PC Suite main view.
OK, opend file manager from PC Suite.
The folder structure I see is
    My Bluetooth places->Entire Blutooth Neighborhood->Nokia 6230->
The only subfolder from this level is OBEX file transfer and below that are graphics,Images,Memory Card, Music files,Recordings,Tones,Video Clips
I don't see any contacts folder.
I can go into the memory card folder, see my music tracks and transfer them back and forth.
    Tried unticking/ticking. Makes no difference
Tried closing/reopening PC Sync, no difference.
If I click on the phone icon Nokia 6230 just below Entire bluetooth neighborhood then the right hand panel shows
Audio Gateway on Nokia 6230 (not connected)
COM1 on Nokia 6230 (not connected)
Dial Up Networking on Nokia 6230
Nokia PC Suite on Nokia 6230 (not connected)
OBEX file transfer on Nokia 6230
OBEX Object Push on Nokia 6230
If I double click Nokia PC Suite on Nokia 6230 it changes to show connected. If I right click on the icon and select status the signal strength shows GOOD, but after a minute or two the phone beeps and the icon changes back to not connected.
I noticed that after open/close PC Synch the first time I am no longer able to select Manage Connections. I have to reboot the machine before Manage connections will work again.
Throughout all of this, the icon in the system tray is saying that the Nokia 6230 is connected via Bluetooth.
Why is this so god damn difficult ??

  • HT204387 Is Nokia Bluetooth connect with iPad mini

Is Nokia Bluetooth connect with ipadmini

What are you trying to accomplish? File transfer is not supported.
If your Nokia provides personal hotspot, you should be able to make
wifi connection from iPad to use the internet.

For that... download the latest version of NSU from Nokia website (www.nokia.co.in/get-support-and-software/download-software/device-software-update/download) and install it in your PC and restart it again. Now turn off firewall and antivirus software and connect your mobile with PC. Now backup all the data of your mobile using Nokia PC Suite backup utility (for safety, if any problem persist). Now restart your mobile and connect it with your PC using original data cable. Now run NSU and do the procedure as written in NSU. If update is available then in ahead and don't run any application in your PC or mobile. Don't touch your mobile untill "successful update" message appear in NSU. After complete the update process, check your problem. Tell me the result.
If you have problems DO NOT try updating via NSU, because the connection might go off during update and your phone would be dead!
