Nokia 6120 classic - Call log icons bug

Hi to all.
This is my first message in the forum.
One week ago I bought a Nokia 6120 classic with brand Vodafone (I'm from italy).
Everything works great except  the icons in the call log, accessible with the green key (that's to say the answer key).
In fact, despite the phone numbers are correctly stored (and divided, for each contact, into mobile, home, etc.), the icons in the call lag is always the small blue icon related to a mobile phone niumber, even if  the number does not correspond to a mobile phone number.
I have firmare version 4.21.
This is what appears with *#0000#
v 04.21
09-10-07
RM-243
Nokia 6129c EMS53.02
Through Nokia Software Updates I see there is a new firmare: v6.01.
Do you know if this firmware fix the call log icons bug?
As it is the unique bug I faced, I don't want to go on with a firmeware update if the new firmare do not solve it.
Unfortunately I can't find on the web a changelog for this firmware.
Many thanks.
Filippo

well the change logs for firmware updates are not public knowledge, they do not get released so in reality you never know what you are getting. firmware update is always recommened as it brings in more stability to the phone, usually fixes bugs, improves speed, sometimes battery performance and other identified issues. the chances are that you will not be able to find a changelog for your phone. you may not be able to update your phone unless it has been approved by voda since your phone is branded it is up to them to release approved firmware versions for thier customers.

  • Nokia 6120 Classic USB Modem is not working proper...

    Hello everybody!
Something strange happened last week with my Nokia 6120 Classic (version: 03.83). I regularly use it as a USB modem and last week's Wednesday it stopped working. What the problem really is due to, is hard for me to say precisely.
Using Windows Vista (Business, x64, SP1) "Connect to" function, I have previously connected to using HSDPA, but after last week the following happens:
Starts with "Dialing" then goes to showing status "Verifying user name and password" for less than a second after which Vista informs that "Failed to connect to..." and the phone shows the 3G symbol with dashed arrows below.
    I've tried the following:
    - reinstalling PC Suite (the latest, greatest version)
    - reinstalling the modem drivers (between Nokia USB modem and 6120 USB modem) using the whole reboot thing
    - using another USB port, which doesn't work since Device Manager reports that the driver can't start properly
    - restarting, cold resetting the phone
    - switching to GSM only
    - testing with another computer running SP1
    - removing modem init commands for the Internet connection
Now, the strange thing with the second computer was that everything worked just fine with it. My computer on the other hand didn't work at all!
I've put the modem communication logs from the working computer here:
    http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ah8pw9pjrf55_12g38wqpdt
And the modem communication logs from my non-working computer here:
    http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ah8pw9pjrf55_11hjcq39g4
What was interesting on my computer is the "NO CARRIER" line which makes no sense to me: why on earth is it starting to check for a carrier signal all of the sudden??
Any tips with this here dilemma would be greatly appreciated.

I tried using a Nokia E90 and connecting to the net using both PC Suite's "Connect to the Internet" and using Windows´ "Connect to" programs. With the E90, I had the same problems: fails at "Verifying user name and password" and the strange looking modem communications log.
What the heck is going on with my Windows installation here? I tried removing the drivers again, repairing PC suite and restarting the computer, but to no avail.

  • Bad audio quality of Nokia 6120 classic

Welcome Anshhardcore, Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
If you would like to customise your sound quality I suggest playing around with the equalizer feature. The equalizer feature can be found inside the Media Player. The equalizer has some preset levels but also empty slots for you to make you own custom levels
I hope this helps and that you are able to achieve a sound quality you are happy with.

    Dear Islamic Brother, assalamu alaikum!
i had the same problem with my 6120c phone. the original version in my set was 4.2 and i updated it to 5.11 myself. afterwards Islamic Organizer was not installing. but im glad to find a very simple solution myself.
Important: All your data and installed applications will be removed permanently. So you should take backup of all your data on phone memory (contacts, calender items, sms, images etc) and though not necessary but in order to be safer - remove your memory card before following these steps:
    - Turn off your phone
    - Press and hold '*' '3' and 'call' buttons, and while holding all these three buttons simultaneously, and press 'ON' button. (this may sound difficult but when you will try to do this you will find it easy)
    - Keep all these four buttons press until your phone starts
    - If you have done it correctly the phone will ask you to enter your country, city, time and date, etc.
    - Go to Menu>Download - refresh the list and download Islam Organiser again.
    - That's all!!
May we all respect our prayer timings!

  • Nokia 6120 Classic Accept button not working

I have a Nokia 6120 Classic and is not working fine. I have decided to change my mobile.
Before change my mobile I want to backup all my data and telephone numbers. The problem is that Accept button is not working correct. When I start my mobile I can enter pin number but after this I can't enter the date because I have to use Accept button (the one in the top left). Is there any possibility to skip entering date? This is the only wey to enter mobile and backup my data
    Thanks

I was going to take it to Nokia care but duh? Should the button stop working suddenly? Without anything wrong also the same with the camera button also I'm not the first one to have this problem right? Then its not our problem but its Nokia's I thought there's another solution, but yeah I'm making angry posts can you just make good products? I see all the people complaint about that button **bleep**, you better not talk while maybe the problem from th company.

  • Memory/software issues with the Nokia 6120 classic...

Hi. I have a Nokia 6120 classic phone which I bought recently (not covered by warranty) and I'm having problems with the phone on my memory or software part (i don't know which one is exactly). I'm having issues like this for example when I'm to run Opera Mobile 10 on my phone after 2 or 3 sessions of browsing it starts telling me that it does not have enough memory and to close any other applications when non of them are really running at all (not even anti-virus). If I try to open it when for example an application like radio or music player is running it won't even bother to give me the loading logo or something, giving me the same memory error like it does in the previous described issue.
Another issue of this phone is when I open high quality 3gp videos in real player and I switch it to full-screen the video will freeze every 3-4 seconds, thing that doesn't happen when it's out of full screen.
Can somebody help me fix these issues? Thank you and good luck.

  • SDHC support Nokia 6120 classic

    Hi there,
Does the Nokia 6120 classic support microSDHC cards, i.e. memory cards of 4GB and larger? Yes, I know the specification only says up to 2GB normal microSD. The E90 and N95 do support SDHC while they have the same Symbian platform (S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1). Anyone tried a 4GB in a 6120 already?
I use a 4 GB card 9FAT32) in my 6230i and works perfectly, while according specifications only 512MB (FAT16) is supported.

    Hi All,
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I went out and bought myself a SanDisk 8GB microSDHC Class 2 and it works perfectly with my Nokia 6120c. The guy at the store said that 8GB microSDHC was the maximum capicity supported (/ tested???) by the 6120c.
Just to be sure, I updated the phone firmware to 5.11 and backed up all phone contents prior to putting in the new memcard. Hope this post helps some one else...

Sometimes the drivers for your Nokia device and associated connectivity cables can become corrupted.
To resolve this, uninstall and re-install Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater:

  • New Battery for Nokia 6120 Classic

Hello! What do you know?! Is there other battery compatible with Nokia 6120 Classic??? This one(BL-5B) sucks. 2 days without taking pictures, playing games, listening music, etc, just normally speaking (not much at all). And I turn it off during the night! All my friends have the same problem so that means that my battery has no malfunction, this is how it is made! Please help me! Is there other battery compatible with Nokia 6120 Classic???

I don't know why they don't make a better alternative.
It's size, weight and price range that determine which battery they use.
The 6120c is quite small for a smartphone and it's also considered to be a low-end model with a fairly low price tag.
Sometimes these compromises are made to release a device into a certain price range to be competitive.
You are better off searching google or unofficial forums to see if anyone has got a different battery to work as it's never been mentioned here.

  • Unable to connect to Skype Nokia 6120 Classic, sig...

Hi I have a Nokia 6120 Classic on Vodafone Egypt. Last month I downloaded skype mobile onto the phone and was able to skype reasonably well (within limitations as I am at a remote location) I left Egypt for some three weeks and on my return the skype application now does not work. I have discussed this with Vodafone and they have resent the settings to the mobile and I have also removed and reloaded Skype. But still no joy it just hangs when signing in until it times out? Skype version is Sybian 1.5.0.12, it's saved on the phone memory. In the advanced settings the incoming conn. port 8877 The Alternative in. ports 8877.
I can still get the internet on the mobile (eg Google and searches ok) Voda fone tell me if I can access the internet I should be able to access Skype? As far as I can see this is the right Skype download and I got it from the Nokia website. In need of some help please as this little application was really quite good, the other options are very expensive.

i have also this problem in pakistan
i m able to connect my skype throug computer and through web page skype.com on my 6120c but through skype messnger on my mobile 6120c i m unable to connect skype for last two days
i also change skype messenger on my mobile but its not working

  • Nokia X6 stores call log for only 3 days

My new Nokia x6 stores call log for only 3 days even though i set up it for 30 days? Any one facing this issue? How to overcome this? PLs help. Thanx in advance...

Have read on this forum.. suggesting to first change the Call Log duration to say 1 day.. Re-boot the phone .. then change it back to 30 days.. and re-boot the phone..
..also in some cases the no. of entries also caused the problem.. though the setting is for 30 days if there is a lot more no. of entries under the log.. it is getting erased automatically.. Some users pointed out that it was happening in their case when there are few applications  that required periodic connection to the network for updates (like e-mail, weather applications, etc..) and frequent logs were getting created...

  • 8900 Curve call log icon

I recently switched over from my 8800 to my new 8900 Curve -- I love the 8900 however I miss the call log icon and the call log in general -- My options are set for call logging however the call logs are mingled with my email messages and as such are difficult to track -0-0 where as my 8800 had a separate call log -- with an icon on my desktop which made it very easy to see missed calls and so on. Thanks!

    1. If you press the green dial key, you should open direct to the Call Log. Does that not happen on your device?
    2. To remove the calls logged from your main messages folder, open the Call Log by pressing the green dial key > press the Menu key > Options > Call Logging and remove the choice from ALL.
    And save.

  • Will Nokia Fix S60 Call Logs issues?

I dial so often to same persons but to their different numbers. Home, office, Mobile. In contacts, Office and Home both have same icon when even a cheapest of cheap phones from other manufactures show HOME icon for Home, and buildings for Office number.
Then, in call logs all calls to all types of number(home/office/mobile) show with same 'mobile' icon like below:
The right way is to display the right icon like the following Sony Ericsson W910 does. Also note the W910 has a menu option called "OPEN". This take us to the full contacts details of that person so we can dial to his other numbers directly from logs without having to go through 100s of contacts.
When will you guys get this BASIC thing right? Why waste time on Ovi and other **bleep** when you guys can't get basics right?

I and others in this forum are in total agreement.
It drives me absolutely nuts, as well. I never understood why they didn't have a different icon for work as well.
Ever since v3 FP1 and v3 FP2 (and even v5) were released, Nokia created a bug (IMHO) that made the call log almost useless (using the same icon for almost every call).  The worst part is that Nokia refuses to acknowledge it as a bug and says it behaves as designed: the icon represents the network used (i.e., it will show either the mobile phone icon (gsm network) or the Internet Call icon (for VoIP/SIP)).
Who are we kidding here?  How many people actually have VoIP set up? Especially when every other major smartphone manufacturer has adopted a pretty standard way of distinguishing between a contact's multiple numbers.
Call log navigation to the contact details is also a pain.  To add  salt to the wound, wife's s40 dumb-phone  (Nokia 6088) allows her to easily view the caller details with one click, when us users of Nokia's smartphone OS have to exit the call log and search for the user's information in the address book.
Horrible.  I've been holding off purchasing a replacement for my E61i hoping that every new phone fixes this, only to be disappointed yet again.

  • Nokia 8600 luna call log

When i receive calls it does not show the number and in my call log certain numbers not not show up after an call can you tell me why and how to rectify this problem please
I have updated the software to the latest version done it earlier.
    Cheers Niall

Try booting it without the sim and memory card (if that model has one).
If it won't boot up then unfortunately there is nothing that you can do yourself to retrieve your data.
A nokia care point may be able to help you recover the data but most likely they won't be able to.  They will be able to fix it by reloading the phones software but that will wipe everything out.
