Nokia 6210 Navigator - which version of Nokia maps...

Hi !
I`ve tried to upgrade my Nokia 6210 Navigator from Nokia maps 2.0 to Ovi maps 3.01 but it
doesn´t seems to work.
If i try to upgrade it with the old Nokia map updater it just says: Cannot get enough information about the phone unspecified error
Can anyone tell me if this is possible.
I also get a error message when i try to use this file that ovikovi posted (http://static.s2g.gate5.de/nokiamaps-client/nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis)
The error massage that shows up in the phone is:  It doesn´t work to install this file, the unit is built in!
And in Ovi Suite it says: The file is in use. Another application is using  nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis
I´ve also tried to uninstall the version og Nokia maps that is installed on the phone but that doesn´t seems to be an option !
Any one who has a clue of something that can solve my problem.
Best regards.

The above link has been working perfectly on my 6210 navigator.
For the technically savvy,  googling ovi maps "unsupported devices" will teach you how to install maps 3.03 and 3.04.

I am very **bleep** Off Customer atm because I was told by Nokia Care Operator and a Manager at Nokia that the Nokia Ovi Maps 3.03 will not be available at all for my phone and I am extremely **bleep** Off with NOKIA atm.
I would have thought that when you bring out an Update for a Nokia Application u would make it availbale for all phones that have the Maps Application on the phone.
THE FACT THAT IT IS NOT AVAILABLE IS A TOTAL LOAD OF **bleep** WHICH FORCES THE CUSTOMER IN THE END TOO BUY A NEW MODEL SUCH AS A NOKIA 6710 NAVIGATOR WHICH HAS IT PRE-INSTALLED BY THE FACTORY. Thanks Very Much, NOKIA.
I am going 2 be thinking very seriously before getting another Nokia Mobile Phone because of this **bleep** treatment I have recieved from Nokia.

  • Nokia 6210 Navigation - license purchase

Hi, i'm from Malaysia.i'm using Nokia 6210 Navigation. I'm going to Hong Kong & Macau, i've purchased the license for Hong Kong & Macau - Drive & Walk. After the purchasing, i received a receipt through SMS, but there is no license code for me where i find out there is a "enter license code" in my phone. Should i enter the license code to activate it?
How do i know the license is activated in Hong Kong? Am i only notice when i'm start using in Hong Kong?
    Please help me.
    Thanks
    Saxon

    Hi,
You can check wether the license has been purchased correctly by Opening the Maps application and going to Options > Extras > My License.
Your license should be listed here. If it is not, i suggest Updating (can be done from the Options menu within My Licenses).
You will need to allow the device to go online to check the license server, but it should then acnowledge your purchase.
If you still have problems, please send me a private message with your IMEI (*#06#) and i will investigate further.
    Cheers

  • Nokia 6210 navigator loses days when turned off

    Hi
Whenever i turn off my phone for more than a day, it stops keeping track of what day it is suppose to be.
let say i turn off the phone on friday, and turn it back on sunday, it will show the correct time, but it will still think it is friday.
this caused me to be late work work twice now, because when monday comes the phone thinks its saterday, and the alarm only goes of in weekdays.
my firmware is up to date.
is this a bug in the phone or am i timetraveling?

i see this was answered in another thread : "Nokia 6210 Navigator - date change fails during night if phone switched off"

  • Call filter on Nokia 6210 Navigator

Hi all, I am looking for a web site to download a call filter for my Nokia 6210 Navigator such that I can block a persistent unknown caller. Thank you all for your quick help on this...

I am not sure of an available application capable of the feature you are requesting. You may want to use the call barring or call divert feature of your phone but these services can be availed from y  our network service provider. You will have to contact your network provider and ask them whether or not they offer call barring or call divert services for a specific number and you will get the settings from them. There may be a corresponding fee when you avail of such service.

  • ViewRanger maps on Nokia 6210 Navigator

I've just installed ViewRanger maps of all the United Kingdom National Parks onto my N6210 Navigator for less than £25. Incredibly good value for walking and cycling holidays. I bought the electronic dowload; perhaps not wise with a slow broadband like mine and sure enough I had trouble downloading the 456 Mb file.  Email communication with ViewRanger's Cambridge office was prompt, friendly and efficient and they offered me a CD at no extra charge if I continued to have difficulties with the download. However I did manage eventually. After that the clear instructions made installation a breeze. The great thing is that each map can be installed separately as you need them so that your memory card isn't filled with unused maps . I'm lucky enough to live in a National Park so I could try a map straight away. It's just like having an Ordnance Survey map on your phone, with a circle around where you are standing that moves as you walk.
I don't suppose it will be be as good as a hiker's sat nav such as garmin, but used with a conventional map and compass as a backup to check your position makes this app fantastic value. Highly recommended!

I use Viewranger for offroad walking and have found it the best offroad satnav for smartphones – equivalent to a dedicated offroad satnav. The only problem I have had with it is the complexity of the user interface and the multiple menu system that is utilised. This can lead to long minutes trying to find the correct menu item and has caused a hang or two. For urban walking I use Garmin on my phone and when driving a TomTom satnav. I have found Nokia(Ovi) maps  too costly, and so for back up navigation use googlemaps although this can rapidly use my monthly data allowance. So, yes I agree Viewranger is surprisingly good.

  • Nokia 6210 Navigator GPS button configuration

    Hi,
When I click the blue GPS button, the phone suggests a way to download my carrier's GPS software. I'm using an open-code software called ''Waze'. How can I change the button's target so it would operate the application I want it to operate?
    Thanks,
    Shaked.

The only place I can imaging that there might be a setting is:
    Menu>Settings>Phone settings>General>Personalisation>Standby mode>Shortcuts
Having said that, from memory this only includes the six on-screen shortcut icons and the two selection keys, I think the navigation in this phone is locked to a preset application, whcih is normally Nokia Maps but perhaps if your operator has their own system then I guess their variant software is hardwired to that.

  • Nokia 6210 Navigator error after software update.

When i updated my Nokia i got the message that the update was completed. But when i start the phone its all dead. When i hold in the power button for a few second the phone starts with a black screen (and a little light from the lcd)but after 30 seconds its shuts down again. Is there anything i can do, "hard restart?", "formatting"?
    PLEASE HELP =/

I experienced the same problem. I had my 6210 two days and simply took it back and they replaced it. The Three-Finger Manoeuvre did not work and neither the suggestion by bama_boyz20. Under Nokia's FAQ they mentioned if still under warranty they will fix it. Is there anyone that maybe know why this problem is happening.

  • Nokia 6210 Navigator Contacts problem

    Hi,
My phone dosen't display my contacts after formatting it.
The thing is that a week ago, my phone was starting to be very slow while trying to send and read text messages.
I've backupped my phone information and used *#7370# to reformat it (following this link). After the formatting ended, I restored the pone data and evreything came back (Text messages, calender records, phone settings) except for the contacts, even though there wasn't any error message.
When trying to restore only the contacts, I get a message that it was successful, but nothing happens. I've tried to use older backu-ps, but it didn't help. Moreover, I've tried to reformat it again and that didn't help too.
    What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Shaked.
    Solved!

So, I entered the link you provided and downloaded this software, which converted my nbu file and allowed me to export all my contacts to vCard files.
Then, using Nokia PC Suite, I imported the contacts to the phone. Even tough the Nokia PC Suite said that the importing operation failed, it succeeded and all my contacts are now on my phone.
    Thanks,
    Shaked.

  • Nokia 6210 Navigator power up

    Hi,
I dropped my phone while it was ringing. It seemed like nothing happened to it, because i picked it up and answered the call. While i was in the call, i got disconnected and the phone displayed "Please insert a SIM card". So i turned it off, and now it won't turn back on. I'm getting the regular vibration and the screen seems to be on, but it dies after a few seconds. If i keep pushing the power on button, the screen stays lit up, until i release it.
I've tried charging it, removing the battery for 5 minutes, tried removing the SIM card.. nothing helps.
    Can someone please advise?
    Thank you in advance.

If it is associated with the fall then it is a probably a hardware problem. Unfortunately you won't resolve any hardware problems with reset, updates etc.. Best thing to do is to bring it to a Nokia Care Point and let them ascertain the extent of the damage.

  • Nokia 6210 Navigator

    Hi there,
I am really hoping to get some help with my new phone.
    - Firstly, is there a way to remove the shortcuts displayed by icons that covers the wallpaper?
    - Is there a way to display the contacts with their phone numbers and name?
    - How can I make my number hidden when making a phone call?
    Thanks for helping out.

  • Nokia 6210 Navigator again

    Hi,
I've just got this phone, and really like it. However, the message icon keeps on flashing in the top right hand corner of the screen. In the manual it says that this is to notify me that I have a new message, however, I'm 100% certain I don't have one. How can I get rid of this / turn this off?
Also, how can I tell when I'm connected up to the internet? When I click exit, does it automatically log me off?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
I got one of these yesterday. The flashing message means you have too many messages stored on the sim card. This is definitely NOT the only memory you have available to store messages on (don't forget you have a memory card supplied with the phone automtically installed) but the first time you insert a new sim apparently it can't deal with it. Delete one message from sim card msg store and you should be fine going forward. You don't need to order a new sim.
    Hope that helps!
    **bleep**.

  • When will Nokia release a newer version of Nokia 3...

The current 04.14 version of the firmware is very buggy compared to the previous versions. It exhibits too many faults and it completely out of hand. Anyone have ideas on this?

No one here can answer that question.  We are all users.  Apple may or may not do anything about Java in the future.

  • After 6210 Navigator 5.16 update, mark with # feat...

I updated my nokia 6210 navigator to version 5.16. The function where you can mark items by pressing hash (#) has disappeared. Any workarounds?

Compressor repair? Can you give me more details on what this is?
I had FCP to Compressor using QMaster (2 CPU instances) working in 10.5.6. It created some bizarre project name under FCP (i.e. 13DAA64E-8A34-4476-A12B-86) but would work. With 10.5.7 the same steps just hang/fail -- fail as in they Submitted batch never completes (I can leave it for 10 hours on a H.264 small duration clip of 30 seconds).
So now (with 10.5.7) the only way I can get Compressor and Qmaster to work is if I export sequence to QuickTime movie, close FCP, open Compressor create a new batch using the exported QT movie, set my settings/destination then submit. Which defeats the purpose of using a 2 Instance QMaster in the first place since I've had to introduce a Export to Quicktime in FCP. So essentially any benefit using 2 CPUs has been negated by the extra export step.
Sorry for the frustration/tone, but if I wanted this much hassle with Mac software/OS, I would have just stayed exclusively on a Windows based platform -- as of right now I see very little difference between the two companies, both are not responsive to correct obvious problems and both create more work than solutions. I gotta wonder why I even selected to use a Mac and why I successfully converted at 11 friends over from Windows to Mac - SSDD.
    Frustrated.
