Nokia 6220 - Doesnt find GPS

I have a Nokia 6220 that doesnt find any GPS signals
It is searching for the GPS signals for hours without result
the red bar is scrolling.
What is the problem?

I presume you have tried all the above outdoors.
If it is only a week old you may be able to get it replaced for a new one at the point of purchase.

If you go into the phone settings, then security, you have various ways of locking the phone either by locking the sim card or the phone.

Screen goes very dark during video recording sometimes, would new firmware fix this? i have Software version: 03.23, Software version date: 27-Jun-2008.
Also is it possible to disable the red light during video recording?
Not sure about the first part, but you cannot disable the lamp it is to let people know they are being recorded I think
4. GPS, i'm on prepaid, is it possible to get free GPS service? if not which prepaid network would be cheapest for using GPS?
Nokia maps is very good, so long as you download the mapping download software first from Ovi.com to load them to the phone. It only costs about £50.00 (not sure) for the voice prompts as well.

Nokia 6220 Classic and iSync?

I'm trying to get iSync (v.2.0) to recognize my Nokia 6220 Classic phone. But it won't. I've tried downloading the Nokia iSync plug-in from their website, but each time I try to intsall the package, it says
"You cannot install the phoen plug-in on this vlume. Plaese upgrade to the latest evrsion of iSync using Software Update".
However, running Software Update doesn't find a proprietary update. Nor can I find one...?

Move your iSync application back into the main Applications folder. You should never move Apple application from the default locations.

PC Suite 6.82 killed my Nokia 6220

Hi,
I just downloaded PC suite off the Nokia website, then installed it and then connected my Nokia 6220 via Infared.
It detected it and then I went to contacts and it started sync'ing. While it was sync'ing it seems to have lost the infared connection and then my phone just went blank. It is just a plain white screen.
I've tried taking out the battery for 5 mins and putting it back in and my phone still shows a blank white screen.
Can anyone help? Please..

Hi,
I just thought I'd let you know that I took out the battery for an hour and a half and still had the problem of the white screen.
I left the phone on and while surfing the net trying to find others that may have had the problem, about 10mins later I looked at my phone and it was working again.
So, the trick is to leave it on for a while, as opposed to leave it off for a while.

SmartcomGps on Nokia 6220 - connectivity problem

Hello everyone,
I've got a Nokia 6220 and have been trying to use its GPS by SmartcomGps 1.56. Hopefully, my GPS antenna works properly. And I'm able to see GPS is working properly by going to Menu -> Applications -> GPS data -> Options -> Satellite status, in which Nokia shows me at least 5 satellite bars.
But I'm having problems by Smartcom connectivty. When I choose to connect in Smartcom, Nokia 6220 starts searching for a Bluetooth device instead of a satellite. Does anyone have any idea to fix this problem?

Nokia 6220 xenon problem

I've just bought new Nokia 6220 classic and experienced some problems with flash. Even If turn flash "on" or "red eye reduction" it doesn't work. Tiny symbol appears for 1second in the top right corner - see image below.

Help. change nokia 6220 classic sms layout to blac...

hey ive curretly got a nokia 6220 classic, and im just wondering if somehow when replying to sms, it will show like a instant messaging conversation... similar to blackberry's and also the iphone sms system, because i find that when replying to sms, i forget what they have written and have to save what ive written so far as a draft, exit the compose sms, go into my inbox, re read message, and re type my reply sms. Are there any software updates or applications that allow this to happen to the nokia 6220 classic? thanks

Looks like yours is one of the few models that it isn't compatible with.
Give this new program a try:

I've not tried this program so I don't know if it's any good or even works.
It needs to be "open signed" before you can use it. If you are unfamilar with that see this guide:

Nokia 6220 Screensaver

I have just purchased a nokia 6220 phone in purple and I am really pleased with all its functions and smart looking appearance. I have worked my way round the phone and set it up as my previous nokia phone. The only thing is I cannot find where my screensavers are. I usually like to put a screensaver on my phone but only seem to have the clock on now which only lasts a few seconds. I have found the button where I can change the screensaver to always but how do I put new screensavers on my phone as I don't want the clock on.

"likeitlikethat" is correct in fact. I've had this phone for a few weeks now (see my other Discussions about it).
First, press the Menu button, then select Settings -> Themes -> Power saver, and make sure that "Date" is selected, then press "Back" then "Exit", then select Phone sett. -> General -> Personalisation -> Display -> Screen saver -> Screen saver duration, and set this to "Always".
The clock screen saver will now display indefinitely once it kicks in, however the back light will go off as per settings elsewhere, so it will be difficult to read unless you hold the phone under a light source and wiggle it about until the light catches the display at the correct angle to enable you to read it.
This feature is the same as on my previous phone, the 6610, but on that the clock digits took up a quarter of the (admittedly much smaller) display, making the time far easier to read, and it was much easier to set up in the first place.

Nokia 6220 call quality

Just got a new Nokia 6220 upgrade, and the call quality is really muffled.... Is this normal?, I had the 6300 earlier, and found the call quality much clearer... Or is this handset faulty?
Any help is much appreciated.

Did you try turning up the volume whilst on the call?
Also try disabling 3G as under some circumstances it can cause things to sound a bit different. You can find the option in the setting menu under network, set it to GSM.
It's more likely just a case of different sounding hardware than a defective unit.
Before returning it call into a nokia care point. They will be able to tell you if it's defective or normal.

Fatal error connecting Nokia 6220 Classic

Hi All
I have just installed the latest PC suite and am having trouble connecting my 6500-Slide & Nokia 6220 Classic.
I have also installed Nokia Software updater.
Basically i had a 6500 slide - this has connected fine no problems at all since i have had it. I have just got a 6220 classic lugged it in and got the following message:
"Cannot install this hardware"
"There was a problem installing this hardware:
Nokia 6220 classic USB phone parent
An error occured during the installation of this device
Fatal error during installation
Click finish to close"
So i downloaded the latest software (Suite & updater) and tried to connect either 6500-s or 6220 Classic via the supplied CA-101 cable and get the same message each time i try to connect either phone!
I have tried uninstalling, re-installing, updating software and am stuck now.
Any help would be really appreciated.

wow, good fix and worked too (for my 6500 slide that is). For the benefit of those reading this post, i will re-post lillyplop's solution here:
Either rename or delete the file: c:\windows\system32\drivers\wdf01000.sys
Then reboot and prob should be fixed.
Also, perhaps nokia, look into the cause of this problem and maybe when nokia pc suite is launched, get it to rename this file then name it back when closed?

Error in Playing long music tracks on Nokia 6220

When I play long music tracks (such as concert recordings up to 1-2hrs long) on my Nokia 6220, the phone does not remember were I had previously stopped listening to the track. Also the music player on the phone has troubles fast forwarding on long music tracks.

Unfortunately not, the standard S60 music player has no feature to save position in a track.
The video centre feature in some S60 3rd Eidtion FP2 phones like the N96 has the feature to play videos from where they last stopped, but even in these phone the music files don't have the same luck. It might be that this feature be added in the future, though it is probably considered that the music player is designed for individual music tracksrather than very long recordings, unlike video files where whole films are offered. Perhaps if enough people demand it...

Silent Camera for Nokia 6220 Classic!?

Please is somewhere available a silent camera for Nokia 6220 Classic?
This 5 mb camera is great but it makes so horrible noice that it is impossible to take great photos while e.g. my puppy starts to follow that sound and stops playing!
It is no way to make this camera silent in this phone, but I know that a good program download would solve this problem.
Where might I download one?

Looks like they have disabled the ability to turn off camera sounds by disabling the warning tones. There are other solutions, but they also invalidate your warranty, hence we can't discuss them here.
Have a look at this link. The same applies in lots of other countries and the list gets longer by the day.

Just got my Nokia 6220 the other day and today i found out that the settings i use for the camera don't save...
I mean if I set some settings, when i close the camera and then open it again i got to redo the settings...
Any ideas on how to keep the settings saved?

which email account is it? is it happening with all accounts or just one? Have you tried closing the mail app out of multitasking?
