Nokia 6230i dku 2 cable data storage mode deactiva...

i have a nokia 6230i and a dku 2 cable, i have downloaded the latest version of pc suite and drivers.
everytime i connect my phone and accept to use the phone as data storage device, it gives the message data storage mode deactivated
i am using windows xp sp 2

data storage mode only gives you access to your phone's MMC/memorycard, so do you have memory card inserted into your phone ?
If you want to use PC Suite, you should not choose data storage mode, but default mode or what ever other alternative your 6230i is suggesting ?

  • Nokia C5-03 and Mac OSX Lion - Problems copying files to phone in Mass Storage mode

Whenever I try to load more than one file from my iMac (early 2008, OSX Lion 10.7.2) to my new Nokia C5-03 in Mass Storage mode —since the files are MP3s and Multimedia Transfer doesn’t seem to work at all, I keep on getting asked which transfer mode I want to activate for several times, I always choose Mass Storage, and then the first file starts copying, but when it ends with the first one I have to wait for ±30s only to get asked the same again and again until the second file starts copying, and so on.
It’s driving me crazy, I’ve tried setting in the USB connectivity options not to ask me for the mode when I connect the phone, but it doesn’t work either. It still goes very slow and a lot of “USB Mass Storage transfer mode activated” messages appear.
I’ve tested it with a friend’s C5-03 and it’s still the same, but when connecting them to a Windows computer everything goes great and fast. Has somebody had this problem before? Is there a solution to this? I don’t know if this is the correct board to post this, sorry if it’s not.
    Thanks in advance.
PS: Sorry if there are any mistakes or my English sounds weird, i’m Spanish.

    Hi,
Can you try the suggestions below?
-Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel (called Programs
and Features in Microsoft Windows 7).
Select Nokia Ovi Suite in the list of applications and click
    Change/Remove.
In the dialog that appears, choose Repair.
    - Click Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver and repair
-Try creating the connection between your phone and computer
totally from scratch. Start by disconnecting your phone. In
Nokia Ovi Suite, select Tools > Options > My devices. Select
your phone at the top of the window and click Remove this
    device.
Then, select Tools > Add new device, and follow the
    instructions to reconnect the phone.
If this doesn't solve the problem,
-Uninstall the following programs withAdd/Remove Programs in
Control Panel (called Programs and Features in Microsoft
    Windows 7):
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    Nokia Ovi Suite
    PC Connectivity Solution
Then, download and install the latest version of Nokia Ovi
    I hope this helps.

  • Nokia N95 - unable to activate mass storage mode

I'm having trouble with my Nokia N95 8Gb and mass storage mode.
WWhen I can eventually activate this mode after shutting down apps (just intellisync and location tracker), it usually lasts no more than 90s before the phone reboots itself.
This makes copying music rather difficult since
    - The music apps on pcsuite/nseries pcsuite are useless and crash on any attempt to sync (Vista x64)
    - Nokia music doesn't see the phone
    - file copy in pcsync is slow
    - USB mass storage mode doesn't work (ie for using iTunes sync)
    I'm on the v20 software.
    Any ideas?
I love my N95 8Gb -- but this is why people but iPhones/iPods... it's just too hard.

Thanks for the hint. However I'd rather not do this just yet. I'd prefer to figure out which app is in error.
So Q: Can one retrieve the cause of a phone crashing/rebooting? Is there a "system dump" ????.........
Point taken, but more often than not it's the O/S itself that is causing a problem, hence the need to perform the reset. And I don't think there is a core dump anywhere that you can examine. Even if there was, would it mean anything to you? You don't know what system variables are where (there won't be any debug symbols) and I'd challenge you to reverse engineer the system stack (if you knew where it was) in order to find the point in execution where the failure occurs.
This is, of course, assuming it is a software problem. If the problem persists after a reset and, optionally, a firmware reinstall, then it could well be a hardware problem that a Nokia Care Point should take a look at.

  • NOKIA 6230i asking for password to access MMC

    Hi there to every one,
I'm using a Kingston 512mb MMC with my Nokia 6230i. I do not know how it happend, but when I tried to access the MMC few days back, the phone asked for the password. I don't remember setting up any password, so I'm stuck here. The phone is not showing up any information about the card including size, free and used memory. mean while my other MMC is working fine. The phone only supports java applicatons and I could not find any to recover or reset the password.
I tried to connect the phone with my PC but its no use.
The phone askes for the password in data storage mode, and PC_Suit does not show the card in data enhancement mode.
NOTE: It is a MMC, not SD.
TIA to every one who could provide support.

Try to format the MMC either in the phone or in a computer. Slow or full format.
If it won't help, check it with some SW for errors. For instance ZAR ( Zero Assumption Recovery ).

  • Nokia 6230i MMC problem

hi everybody.i'm using 6230i almost a year and ihadn't any problems...by now...recently i had the following problem:i transfered 2 JPG files from PC via bluetooth.i saved one of the files in the MMC amd the other in the phone's memory.the free space of the MMC decreased (i checked it via "memory status" option).but the file disappeared and i can't find it when i look in the folder!!!after that i tried to move the other JPG file from phone's memory to MMC.and the same thing is happened-the free space decreased but the file dissapeared.so stange...then i moved other file(which was saved in the phone earlier) to MMC(because i thought thah the files are damaged) but the same thing again. in fact my MMC is almost full - there is only around 500kB free space.but i think that it can't be a problem(the files are smaller than the free space).i suppose that the formatting of the MMCcan sovle the problem but it's my last option.can someone tell me what's the nature of that problem and how i can fix it without formatting if it is possible.thanks.

help me pls.i have a big problem.i tried to format my MMC but it was unsuccessfully and now i don't know what to do...firstly i tried to format it via the phone.i made the back up of the saved data and used the option "format memory card".a message "memory card formatted" is appeared on the screen but the card wasn't empty.then i tried to delete the saved files one by one via PC using USB-cable - unsuccessfully again(in that moment i used the phone in "data storage mode").finally i tried to format the MMC directly via PC using the window's menu(file -> formatting...) but even that couldn't help me.i see similar thing(unpossibility to format some kind of memory) for the first time.what's the situation now:my MMC seems to be empty(when you look in it) but when i check the "memory status" option it shows "11MB used".how it is possible.i have no idea..

  • Unable to connect Nokia 6230i to PC via DKU-2

When I tries to connect Nokia 6230i to PC via DKU-2 using Nokia PC Suite, a prompt occurs on phone "Use phone as storage device". On accepting, deactivating message appears on phone and again it prompts for storage device and phone doesn't connects to PC.
Phone connects to PC via Bluetooth correctly.

    Hi,
I can not find any other reason for your problem....one thing what you could try to do is set that Shell value from register again (maybe it includes something what I can not see in log file)
    So try this:
    1. Click Start menu, Run and type: Regedit and then OK.
    2. Open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
    3. Select name Shell, click Menu and Modify.
    4. Clear exist value and write there Explorer.exe again.

Why does the cable DKU-2 not work with my Nokia 6230i

    @vinceb56
    Welcome to the forum!
Firstly, is it a genuine Nokia DKU-2 cable or clone?
Secondly, PopPort connector at base of device is notorious for failing; it may be worth trying cleaning "gold" contacts with a pencil eraser.

  • N95 8Gb USB Data Transfer Mode not working

I have a bizarre problem with USB Data transfer.
    a) I upgraded to the new 15.x firmware with the correct HKCSL package - 0557980
    b) I connected PC #1 in data transfer mode with no issue and copied a bunch of installers onto the mass memory and went on to install them - to the PHONE memory.
    c) Later in the day, connected PC #2 and did the same with the last few applications.
    d) Next day tried to connect PC #1 and it didn't work
    e) Thought I must have an application using the MASS storage but checked and not so - all apps on Phone memory.
    f) Went to PC #2 and tried - Data transfer mode works - no problem.
    g) Tried PC #1 again, and still not working. I get all the right messages (Mass storage cannot be used at this time etc) on the handset, and I get the "safely remove hardware" option appearing on the PC - but I don't get a drive letter assigned in the Windows Explorer.
    h) I have tried it on PC #3 and this works as well - no problem.
    1. The working PC's both have PC Suite 2-Beta installed, while the problem PC has no PC suite at all.
    2. I have downloaded the Nokia-connectivity_cable_driver_rel_6_85_10_0 and it installs properly - giving all the expected wireless... options in Device Manager, but I still don't get a drive letter assigned with the basic data transfer mode on this problem PC #1
So the issue seems to be with a PC that has never seen any version of PC suite, but it worked straight after the firmware upgrade.
    All PC's are XP SP2.
Any suggestions on anything else to try ?
    Regards

    SOLVED by:
    - attaching N95, selecting USB Data Transfer Mode
    - Going to Device Manager
    - Selecting the USB Mass Storage Device for N95
    - "Uninstall"
    - Remove cable when N95 says its safe to
    - Re-attach cable
The PC then re-discovered and reloaded the drivers including the mass storage which then worked normally.
No idea what messed it up in the first place though.

  • Not able to connect N82 to pc in data transfer mod...

I am not able to connect N82 in data transfer mode( other modes are working fine) though i installed latest connectivity cable driver for N82. It says that it could not find any suitable driver(after search cd provided and online).
My current firmware version of N82(RM-313) is 10.0.046. Operating system is Windows Vista. Will the firmware update fix the problem or I have to contact customer care center?

    Hi mlhpr
If phone is set to 'data transfer" mode on user interface and USB plugged into PC N82 behaves as a Windows USB mass storage device and you are saying that Windows Vista can't recognize this?
Ya thats is what the problem is. As you said the phone was to behave like USB pendrive in data transfer mode but i am getting this error.
:I first connected the N82 with cable Nokia CA-101 provided with handset and selected the data transfer mode. Then the windows(Vista) icon would appear in task bar showing windows is installing the driver. Then a window pops up saying driver not found and requests permission to search online for driver. When I choose search online for suitable driver, it searches for a while and says no driver found. (net is working prefectly fine). The icon disappears from the bar and phone is inaccessible from windows explorer. But USB indicator on mobile screen is active until i disconnect using mobile connectivity settings.
Actually i wanted this mode for installing the Nokia Maps which requires the phone to be in data transfer mode.

  • Nokia 6230i v03.40 Language Problem

    this is very strange....
when i go into the phone settings and then languages from there only the work automatic shows there and i cant change the language of the phone the strange thing is that if i insert another SIM card into the phone it works fine.
i insert my SIM card into another phone and it works fine i insert another SIM card into my phone and it works fine so i reckon the problem is with the firmware.
    cheers.....

Unfortunately with the given information I don't really know what to suggest, but I can confirm that it absolutely should not take that much time.
A note: The 6230i has 2 modes for USB data transfer, the mass storage mode that allows you to transfer files directly to memory card. Selecting mass storage mode makes your memory card visible in Windows Explorer.
If you select the PC Suite mode, you gain access to more resources in your phone (like the contacts and messages and phone memory)
In 6230i the selection is done so that when you connect the phone to cable and other end to PC, there is a pop up in the phone screen asking something like "allow data transfer ?" Selecting "yes" gives you the mass storage mode and selecting "no/reject" gives you the PC Suite mode. Not very logical, but that's how it works.
You may try the mass storage mode and maybe that is faster ?

  • Pictures from Nokia 6230i

I have only owned this phone for a few days but am delighted with it apart from the fact that I cannot download any photos. I had no trouble with a previous Nokia but with this one I either get an Error message or a refer to Microsoft message.
Can anyone help please? I think I have follwed the istructions correctly, but must have done something wrong somewhere.

No joy I'm afraid. All I can think of is give you a description of what I do and what happens.
    1. Connect phone. "Use as storqge device?" "no" (as in the manual). "Data enhancement connected " appears.
2 Just over task bar "Nokia 6230i connected by USB"
    3. Go to Settings/Connectivity/"use USB"
    4. Click on File manager. Error message "The operation could not be completed". Click OK and screen shows desktop folders with two Nokia browser icons, one for new contacts and the other asking for a Microsoft report.
    6. Try Store Images. Correct phone shown as is connection by DKU-2. Screen shows "Getting info about images and videos" - and there it stops for as long as I care to leave it.
So there we are. I have a new phone, the latest Nokia software and the correct cable, but it doesn't work.
The only thought that comes to my mind is that the software download may have been corrupted by one of my anti-malware programmes - ZoneAlarm, AVG, PestPatrol and Ewido are the main ones. Would switching any or all off and then reinstalling be of any help?
I am grateful for your patience and hope for a solution soon!

  • Nokia 6230i and Nokia PC Suite

I have some problems with my Nokia 6230i, because it asks me, if I have to use it as a media (don't know if that is the word, because I'm using the Danish version).
Can I in anyways do, so my mobile phone (Nokia 6230i) automatically rejects the answer?
And can I deactive the showing of the synchronization on the mobile phone?

This is exactly the problem I've been having with PC Suite. I'm glad to find out it's the same with a cable connection before I go out and buy one in an attempt to get some connectivity.
It looks like the only option 6230i users have is a re-flash, which I understand is going to blank the data already stored in the phone. Nice.
This is irritating as hell, because the only reason I stayed with Nokia when it came to upgrading my phone was the 'ease' in moving data from one phone to another. I was offered a Motorola RAZR (which comes with a data cable...) but thought this would be easier.
I guess it shows that the free software supplied by Nokia is worth every penny. Buying a 3rd-party solution seems to be the best answer and will certainly give me better options for my next upgrade.

  • PC Suite and Nokia 6230i no supported

I cannot down load the contacts folder names from my upgraded Nokia 6230i either by USB bluetooth or through a USB DKU-2 cable. My previous Nokia 6230 shook hands and transferred with ease in either connectivity. In the present set up, PC Suite refuses to download (though it recognises that the phone is connected) and puts up an error message saying the phone does not support the PC Suite software. I have downloaded the latest version of PC Suite, rebooted everything often, and even been give a replacement phone by O2 who thought (wrongly) that it was a 'one-off' error in the original phone. For information, the widows browser allows data, music and photo files to be downloaded but, of course, gives no route into the contacts folder which I seek.

  • N95 8GB reboots periodically in data transfer mode

I have a new N95 8GB running firmware v20. Unfortunately, when I use the genuine USB cable and select "Data Transfer Mode" the phone reboots 60 seconds after I connect the cable (and thereafter each 60 seconds when I don't touch the phone).
I have tried with a non-genuine cable and the behaviour is the same.
Coincidentally the "Power Save Time-out" is set to 60 seconds. When I change this to another value, say 40 seconds, then the above rebooting happens every 40 seconds.
This appears to be a phone bug and makes it extremely difficult to use data transfer mode, unless you can transfer files within the power save time-out period, or unless you are prepared to press a button on the phone within this period.
    **Nokia please fix this**

Well, rotateme works perfectly for me and i have a n95 8gb too.So there are two things that might happening.
1.You are doing something wrong with the whole installation(does rotateme works when you install it?)
2.You downloaded your self a corrapted or somekind of a virus or a bug .sis file and installed it to your phone.
Why dont you try to download one other rotateme file for you?You can find plenty rotateme from a lot of users.I can send you mine,if you want send me an e-mail and i`ll send to you the .sis file that i used and as i said,it works fine for me.
    Peace
