Nokia 6230i Mouthpiece Volume When Using Headset

Hi When you're listening to music using a headset attached to the Nokia 6230i, what do you do when you want to answer a call? If I leave the headset plugged in, I can hear the person calling me fine, but they can't hear me very well and I sound very distant. However it seems very awkward to try and unplug the headset quickly when you receive a call, in order to talk to somebody. I was curious to know if anyone else has this problem, and if you do, what do you do when answering your phone? Many Thanks. trace

You didn't mention make/model of your headset. Some headsets have a button to accept a call and a microphone mounted very close to this button. You could hold the button/microphone close to your mouth. Thank you so much for that embedded_system.I feel like such an utter idiot!
I hadn't realised that there was a button and microphone on my headset.

    your problem could be hardware/software. lets hope its software issue first and i'd like you to do these:
    if you have personal files on volume c, copy/backup them. shut down your computer, press one key recover button to perform clean windows installation. then check if the issue still persists.
    if you don,t want to use okr, you can use windows restore to restore your computer to previous restore points but if it's windows/virus issue, it may not help.

  • Siri doesn't understand when using headset

    My wife and I are both experiencing this problem with Siri on iPhone 5.  Siri doesn't understand us when using any external headphones.  She's experiencing this with a wireless Jawbone and I'm using a wired Sennheiser/Adidas.  If we turn Siri off, Voice Control works just fine on both devices, and Siri works fine if using the phone by itself, so it's obviously not some sort of accent/mumbling problem or fundamental headset issue.
    Asking Siri for playlist "Peak Mix" through the headphones gets me "You don't have a playlist:" "Keith Nix", "Peter Max", "Cake Mix", ...   Oddly, saying exactly this through the headphones to plain ol' Voice Control (Siri disabled) works JUST FINE.  Also, disconnecting the headphones and using Siri with the iPhone's mic also works JUST FINE
    This also appears to have changed recently, within the last month or so (May 2013).  I don't recall having these issues a few months ago.  6.1.4 issue?  I've tried the "usual" fixes, disable/re-enable Siri, restart the iPhone, etc.

    Siri doesn't understand 'home' if your address is not listed correctly in contacts. It can be the label for the address field is wrong or that your own address is not listed at all. Using iCloud's to store your Personal data instead of for example Google might also help. iCloud has special fields for storing information that Google using exchange sync does not provide, eg fields for storing your mothers and fathers name. Siri can learn a few things while speaking to it but it doesn't understand everything right off the bat. If you ask Siri 'call my girlfriend' but doesn't know it Siri might ask you who she is in your contact list. That doesn't work for everything though.

    Just purchased new laptop G71-340US.  Volume (at full tilt) is decent when using Windows Media Player, but when using DVD player, volume is so low I can't really hear volume on a movie unless room is completely quiet, and I am right in front of laptop. Any suggestions, or is it really this bad?

    I don't have the answer, but I certainly agree. The G71-340us is severly under powered in the audio department. You would think with the extra room in the 17in. chasis they could have put a sound system with a lot more power. Other than that it's a great machine.

  • Nokia Marketplace connectivity problem when using ...

    Hi everyone!
    Got myself a new Lumia 800 phone about a week ago and since the beginning on I've been experiencing this strange problem with Nokia Marketplace: it rarely works properly when using it with wifi connection. 
    The problem is following: when connected to wifi, I'm allowed to launch the application and browse the apps. I can see apps in categories, however some apps don't have an icon loaded next to them. When clicking on those apps, the Marketplace application is not able to retrieve any information for the app being viewed and returns an error: "We can't connect to Marketplace at the moment. Check your data connection or try again later."
    In some cases I am able to view app information, but when attempting to download the app, it stays under "pending" status and throws an error message requesting my attention. It's weird that while unable to view app information and download apps, I am still able to search for app by a keyword and the search results are returned. 
    While having this problem, I am able to browse web pages with IE, read e-mail etc, everything works just fine.
    When I turn my data connection on, Marketplace performs well and problems disappear. However I don't want to use mobile Internet connection when WiFi is available, because I don't want to pay extra when it's possible to use WiFi.
    In some cases I am able to use Marketplace even with the wifi connection (I've downloaded a couple of apps), but most of the time it's down and unusable. 
    I have downloaded the latest updates.
    My region is Estonia.

    Having the same issue with Nokia 510. Whenever I try to update apps via WiFi it fails. Marketplace updates seem to work only with Network data connection, This is weird and needs to be fixed very quickly. C'mon Nokia - these are basics

  • Loss of Stereo/Volume when using a USB headset

    I have a Logitech headset but I don't know what model it is.
    Basically I came home from work and started using my laptop with the headset only to discover that many sounds were missing or very quiet compared to others. Noticed it first in World of Warcraft and Ventrillo but then realize it affected System sounds too.
    I went to the Sound prefspane and changed the alert sounds - Submarine and Purr are normal, Pop and Soshimi are super quiet comparatively and similar results for other sounds. This seemed to be happening across all applications.
    I then tried the Balance control in the Sounds prefpane and discovered that if I move the slider all the way to the left or the right then sounds are all the same volume - and come from both speakers... The closer the slider to the middle the more quietened or lost sounds there were.
    I tried my headset on my girlfriend's PC laptop and it seemed to be working fine. Input is fine, just output. The internal speakers don't have this issue. I do not have another headset i can try
    I would sometimes get real bad flanging of sound through the headset that would require me to quit applications to fix, and now this. Any ideas?

    Anyone know anything I can try to find what the fault is? Some diagnostic software or something?

    Hello to everyone.
    I have a HP Probook 4530s which I bought september 2011. I have never had any hardware difficuallty with my system and I'm very happy with it.
    Yesterday, I updated a few of my laptop drivers sush as LAN, Pointing Devices, HP Power Assistant and finaly sound card driver which is an IDT High Definition Audio CODEC all recomended by HP support Assistant Program.
    I tried to test the functionallity of my system after downloading and installing these new updates to see if any of them have any problem. That's when I noticed that my sound experience have been altered. Previously when I was using my system with a pair of headphones and my sound level was for example 70% and when I disconnect the headphones the sound level would suddenly jump to the value that I was using last time without headphones for example 25%.
    As of yesterday after updating the drivers, I can't have that feature.

  • External drive doesn't show volume when used internally (and vv)

    I have an early 2011 MBP 17" where I have replaced the optical drive with the 750G hard drive that came with the computer. in the hard drive spot I put in an SSD. Recently I got a 1T 2.5" drive and I want to copy all the files from the internal 750G to the 1T and then put the 1T in the optical drive bay to replace the 750G.
    I got everything copied to the 1T drive via USB - i put the drive in a USB 3.0 enclosure that I've used before with this machine. everything copied fine. so i swapped out the 750G for the 1T in the laptop. when I booted up, the drive did now show in the finder. in Disk Utility it shows up as a device and the indented volume is a greyed out and showing a system volume designation (something like disk3d or whatever the OS uses for this [I didn't make note of the specific volume name]). when I put the disk back in the USB enclosure, it worked fine.
    So i formatted the 1T in the macbook, interally, and it works fine that way. but when I put the 750G in the external enclosure, thinking I could copy the files that way [external to internal]) - the 750G does the same thing: the device shows up ok in Disk Utility but the volume is grey and shows as an OS volume name. like the 1T I am not able to mount it or do anything other than format it.
    So I am at a loss. why can I not copy files to an external drive and put that in the machine internally? this is the way I've done this kind of thing over the years. this is the first time I am doing this with the MBP. what can I do in order to get this to work so I can get all the files on the 750G onto the 1T and work in my MBP?
    I know I can leave the 750G in the computer, connect a drive and copy it all over to it. then put the 1T in the computer and copy all the files off the external drive to the 1T. likely this would work. however a) i don't have a large enough external drive to do this with and b) i'd like to understand what is going on here and solve it as i may need to do this in the future.
    any ideas?

    How did you backup your internal hard drive to the external?  In order to boot a Macintosh has to be partitioned using the GUID scheme and then formatted as Mac OS extended Journaled. Both operations are performed in Disk Utility. You can clone your drive to to the external using a utility such as Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. I'm not sure what you expect to accomplish without install discs. When you clone a drive you're making an exact copy. You shoud probably look at calling Apple and requesting a set of original discs or purchase a full install of Snow Leopard at http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

    Hi,
    As reported by previous N95 users, N95-3 (10.2.006) crashes when you use the #1 shorcut for voicemail, and as stated previously if you dial the number, or use it inside the speed dial app, or even with voice command it works.
    After researching I found that the problem starts when I configured my SIP data parameters, if I delete the SIP profile, #1 shorcut works well.
    In my previous phone (N80ie) with a SIP profile defined, when you press #1 the phone asks if you want to call your regular voice mail or your internet phone voice mail, I think that this is that crashes my N95.
    Just and acclaration, if I connect to my VoIP account, and press #1 everything works perfect with the N95 as in N80, the problem is when you are not connected to VoIP, #1 crashes.
    Nokia please make note of this for future FW update.

  • Nokia 6230i Numbers lost when copying contacts!

    If anybody could help with the following problem it would be much appreciated:
    Having upgraded to a new Nokia mobile this week i decided to copy all my business contacts onto my pc and then back onto the new phone to retain the details. However as my PC would not recognise the USB connection I decided to manually copy them onto the SIM and back onto the new phone.
    There was already 89/90 numbers on the sim card so i decided to try and move 1 more (of the 254 on the phone) number onto the sim before putting them onto the new phone and repeating the process.
    When copying the numbers i chose the option to move the original numbers, so that i wasnt simply copying duplicates each time, and the phone said it had moved 1 of the 254 numbers onto the sim and that it was now full.
    Having moved the numbers from the SIM to the new phone I put the empty SIM card back into the 6230i to repeat the process, only to discover i had lost every single contact.
    Now i cant understand why the numbers have dissapeared...surely when moving the numbers to the sim card, if there was nowere for the numbers to go they wouldn't just be deleted would they? If so is there any way to retreive them?
    Help would be much much appreciated.

    Rather than move them you should have just copied them to the new phone memory. In your contacts you may find a double set of numbers in that case. One with a card sign next to it- thats means the contact number is in the memory card or sim. What you can do is put the card back in the new phone and copy the contacts to the sim card again ( not move) and then put the sim in the old phone and cope them to the phone memory. Hope this helps.

  • Podcasts crash - music plays unexpectedly when using headset

    iPhone 5s, IOS 7.0.4
    I listen primarily to podcasts using the podcast app from podcasts that I host on my home PC and download via my home WiFi network.
    I find that occasionally, the podcast will suddenly stop, requiring me to actually start the Podcast app again. The Podcast app remembers where I was, to within a second or so.
    Also, I find that if I use the apple headset to pause the play of the podcast, and I use the apple headset button to start again, music using the Music plays, not the podcast.
    Sometimes, in this situation, the music is playing and yet the task management (double tap home) shows the Music app isn't even running!
    I find this seems to happen more often when I leave WiFi range of my secured home network.
    I have WiFi on, but have 'Ask to join' disabled.
    This is annoying, particularly if I am riding my bike as I have to dig the iPhone out of my bag to 're-set' it.
    Anyone else experiencing this? Any idea on what I should do to mitigate or eliminate this behaviour?

    I deliberately go out of my way to use home-home and close the Music app.
    I don't want to listen to the music, I want to listen to my podcasts.
    Assuming Podcasts crashes, then using the button on the headset, the music app starts.
    If I could configure IOS to make the Podcast app start and resume where it left off when pressing the headset button, I would do it.
    If I wanted to listen to music, I would start the music app.
    Restarts of the phone don't fix it. I make a point of rebooting every few weeks, when I remember. For example, my current up-time is 17 days.

    How can I get my iPhone to make a sound when receiving SMS messages when I use the headset? When I use the headset all I can hear is the ringtone.

    I hear it via my headset (though it plays on speaker too). Also in car I use FM transmtter via the headjack and it too plays through my car speakers when I get txt (or any sound for that matter)

    I suggest to have a look at following script which is provided by oracle to monitor IO.
    ASMIOSTAT Script to collect iostats for ASM disks [ID 437996.1]
    Further this i have questions
    1) Are you logged in asm sysasm? Make sure that you have proper rights
    2) Did you check the liveness of asm instance? Make sure its up and functional also check the asm alert.log for awareness.
