Nokia 6230i operation failed

hi!
I'm using a Nokia 6230i version 1.4, Nokia PC suite 6.8 and Bluetooth software 1.4.1 build 7, and Windows XP 2.
the problem is i can't install an application from the nokia application installer. i can see the other applications installed on my phone but whenever i try to install another one, it keeps me an "operation failed" message. in the past, i have installed more than five applications, but now, i can't install a single app.
please do help me. thanks!Message Edited by imhoney28 on 24-Jul-2006

Hi,
I think that reason is this: There are not enough free memory for applications anymore (BTW: free memory for applications is smaller than phone's whole free memory)
Delete not needed applications from phone and try again...

please help me...when i try to get into my Nokia 6111 inbox i get the message "operation failed, try again". i have tried resetting, and putting the battery and sim card back in but nothing changes..please help as i dont know what to do to fix it.... :-(
    Liz

    same has happened to me.
at first I had a broken massege inside my Inbox, which I couldn't delete not matter how I tried. I could access the inbox though.
couple of months later I stopped being able to access the inbox, so I tried to delete all of the sms. 1 sms wasn't deleted but I could access the inbox again.
right now I can access both inbox and sent items but when I go to the last message (by scrolling 1 time up) the same error occurs and it takes me out of the inbox/sent items folder. whenever I turn the cellphone off I get the error when trying to access either folder, but eventually it goes back to point where I can access but gives me error when trying to access the first oldest message.
my cellphone is a 5300 xpress music.
I'd rather exchange this one for an equivalent instead of getting it for repairs, but I'm not sure if the store where I bought it does that.

  • Nokia 6300 - 'operation failed. Try again.'

    Hello,
80% of my attempts to open my inbox are met with this message - it is driving me to madness! Also, if I try to browse my contacts the phone briefly freezes and dumps me back to the main screen. When it does both of these things it seems to lose signal for a few moments before it gathers itself.
I was thinking that this might be a simcard issue, but that was taken from my other phone and it had no problems there. Any ideas?
    GMH

try to do the following steps:
    1. Reset the device - Kindly switch off the device and take out the battery for 5 minutes, then put it back on.
    2. If the issue still persists, do a restore on the settings of your device
    a ) menu
    b ) settings
    c ) restore factory settings
d ) restore all - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.
    3. If the problem is still there, update the software of your device. Just log on to http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/download-software/device-software-update for the details on how to update the software of your device.
If it still not resolve, it is better that you visit the nearest Nokia Carepoint in your area. The contact details of the Nokia Carepoint is http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/repair/repair/recycle.

  • PC Suite fails to sync my Nokia 6230i with Outlook

    Hi,
Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can make my Nokia 6230i sync with Outlook?
I am using PC Suite which connects to my phone perfectly (using bluetooth). All functionality seems to work, except for the Sync function! The 'error' is that it reports 'synchronisation completed' but 0 entries have been updated.
I have followed most of the solution directions on the web, but have not succeeded in making it work.
    My config:
    PC Suite 7.1.51.0
    PC Connectivity Solution:  Version 10.24.0.0
Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver: Version 7.1.29.0
    Operating system:
Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit Edition, Service Pack 1
    Language: English
    Language for non-Unicode programs: English
    Detected Internet browsers:
    - Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0
    Detected Bluetooth stacks:
    - Microsoft (Version: 6.0.6000, Build: 16386)
Thanks very much for any suggestions!

    Hi Marina,
    Connect the phone via USB
    Open Nokia Suite
Click the blue and white lifebuoy icon furthest to the right
Click Installed Programs and wait for the list to load
Click the Start page icon furthest to the left
    Click Synchronize all
    * Sync is slower than usual and fails with errors 80100023 and 80043c93
    Workaround:
    Close Nokia Suite
Disconnect the phone from the computer
    Connect the phone via USB
    Open Nokia Suite
    Click Synchronize all
    Now works as usual
    Windows 7 64-bit / Nokia N8-00 Belle Danish / Nokia Suite 3.3.89
The small Qt stability update for Belle is installed on the N8.

Your best bet at this point is to take the phone to your nearest Nokia Care Point. The 8800sa is a Series 40 phone on which there isn't much you can do. In fact there's nothing you can do other than revert to factory default settings. If you want to reset the phone then it has to be done by an NCP

  • Download failure to Nokia 6230i

    I have a Nokia 6230i, with firmware V03.70.
I cannot download wallpapers, video clips & some ringtones. I have tried different sources for the content, ie vodafone live, monstermob, but I receive the same error message - 'Downloading failed'.
I've been sent a new sim - no difference. I have been sent 3 new Nokia 6230i's from Vodafone - no difference. I tried my sim in a Nokia 6230i with firmware V03.3 and it downloads fine.
This is quite a major issue now, can you help?
    Many thanks,
    Rick

First about PC Suite 6.7 functionality:
With PC Suite 6.7 it is still possible to both make a backup from phone and restore the backupfile back to same phone model AS WELL AS transfer data between different phone models. With new version of PC Suite these both functions have been combined to one operation: so first PC Suite makes a backup-file and then reads another "transfer-file" incase the restore is done later to different phone model.
The "transfer-file" is more limited in content due to the fact that phones are different.
    Then to the original problem:
If you still have the old phone available, you should use PC Suite 6.7 backup function with 6230 and then you can transfer to 6230i.
If you made a backup only with older PC Suite, then it is not possible to move the backup to 6230i.

  • Editing Contacts via keypad causes OPERATION FAILE...

Initially I entered info for approximately 60 contacts into my new Nokia 6131 phone memory using the phone keypad. Everything worked fine. Then I discovered the CONTACTS application in Nokia PC Suite software was a lot easier to use for data input, so I started to use that application via my PC to edit my contacts.
Now, when I try to edit a contact using the phone keypad, I regularly get the OPERATION FAILED error, which prevents saving the revised contact information. This is EXTREMELY frustrating, because there is no indication of a cause for the error. 95 percent of the memory in my phone is free, so problem is not related to memory capacity. I can delete certain parts of contact info, like an extra phone number, or an image, and that seems to work without generating the error, but you cannot add or modify anything. I can only reliably edit my contacts using PC suite and then synchronizing the changes. I have updated PC suite and the phone firmware to the latest available versions, but that didn't help. DOES anyone know what causes this OPERATION FAILED error?

    Thank you miksu,
Yes, my phone UI is idle when I try to browse/edit contacts. Today, I thought I'd try resetting factory settings and see if that cleared the problem. So I backed up the phone, reset factory settings and tried to restore from the backup - disaster, it would not restore contacts at all and I was left with a phone minus 400+ contacts! I tried backups that I had previously restored successfully from - still no go.
So I rebuild the contacts from my Outlook, compared it manually with what I had on my old 6230 (fortunately I still have the phone with contacts intact), made updates manually and all is now OK. The OPERATION FAILED does not appear on the phone and I can browse/edit my contacts on the PC.
Although everything is fine now, I will use PC Suite with caution. Perhaps my understanding of the product is not good enough, but I am not keen on risking it.

  • Pictures from Nokia 6230i

I have only owned this phone for a few days but am delighted with it apart from the fact that I cannot download any photos. I had no trouble with a previous Nokia but with this one I either get an Error message or a refer to Microsoft message.
Can anyone help please? I think I have follwed the istructions correctly, but must have done something wrong somewhere.

No joy I'm afraid. All I can think of is give you a description of what I do and what happens.
    1. Connect phone. "Use as storqge device?" "no" (as in the manual). "Data enhancement connected " appears.
2 Just over task bar "Nokia 6230i connected by USB"
    3. Go to Settings/Connectivity/"use USB"
    4. Click on File manager. Error message "The operation could not be completed". Click OK and screen shows desktop folders with two Nokia browser icons, one for new contacts and the other asking for a Microsoft report.
    6. Try Store Images. Correct phone shown as is connection by DKU-2. Screen shows "Getting info about images and videos" - and there it stops for as long as I care to leave it.
So there we are. I have a new phone, the latest Nokia software and the correct cable, but it doesn't work.
The only thought that comes to my mind is that the software download may have been corrupted by one of my anti-malware programmes - ZoneAlarm, AVG, PestPatrol and Ewido are the main ones. Would switching any or all off and then reinstalling be of any help?
I am grateful for your patience and hope for a solution soon!

  • Nokia 6230i Speed-Dials

I have a Nokia 6230i and wish to set speed dials as I had on my previous phone, a Nokia 8210.
On the 8210 I could set the speed dial on all numbers 1 - 9, including the No. 1 button. By pressing the key pad No. (e.g. number 1 button) and then pressing the hash button (bottom right) the display would change and the telephone number of speed dial for button No 1 would be displayed (e.g. 0121 123 4567) prior to making the call.
I could do this with all buttons 1 - 9 and show the 'phone number for each button.
The instruction book did not show how to do this, but somehow I managed it: I've since forgotten how I did it!
I would like to have the same function on my 6230i but I cannot replicate the same conditions as my 8210. On the 6230i I can put speed dials in buttons 2 - 9 (but not in button No 1 as it defaults to 901 each time - which I don't want) but I cannot find the facility for showing the number on screen for all the 1 - 9 buttons prior to dialing. Can anybody help please?

    Try this:
    Go into the following Menus:
Messages >> Voice Messages >> Voice Mailbox
Change voice mailbox number (available by ringing your operator) or whatever you want to change it to.

  • PC Suite installs ok, but "operation failed" on si...

PC Suite installed fine, no error messages. Previously, I had no troubles.
A day or two ago, the version of  Nokia Software Updater was itself updated, to 1.4.98EN
Now, whenever I attempt to install a sis or sisx file, from Windows, I get an "operation failed" error, from Nokia Application Installer. This happens whether or not I have PC Suite configured to install apps to either the phone or to its memory card.
Also, When I connect my phone to my PC, I can no longer browse either the phone's memory card, from Windows. Windows Explorer can detect the presence of the memory card but, when I select the memory card, Nokia Phone Browser gives me the error  "The operation could not be completed".
However, Nokia Phone Browser can access the phone's memory, just fine.
Has anyone else encoutered this, particularly after Nokia's updater was updated? Is there a solution?
    Windows Vistax64 Ultimate edition SP2 v.113
    PC Suite version 7.1.18.0
    Cable connection
    Nokia Software Updater ver 1.4.98EN

Good catch, cricfancy. I missed the PC Connectivity solution. This time, I sorted the installed applications by Publisher and found all that were from Nokia, including the PC Connectivity Solution.
    I uninstalled all of these:
    Nokia Software Updater
    Nokia Photos
    Nokia PC Suite
    Nokia Flashing Cable Driver
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    PC Connectivity solution
    Rebooted PC
    Ran CCleaner Registry Cleaner
    Rebooted PC
    Reinstalled Nokia PC Suite 7.1.18.0
Nokia PC Suite requested direct cable connection to the E71 phone
During the Nokia PC Suite installation, Windows Media Player spiked an error (I didn't realize any portion of WMP was even running). That's been happing a lot, recently.
Windows installed the connectivity drivers and Nokia PC Suite indicates the phone is connected.
    PC requested a reboot.
All the USB drivers Windows was unable to install, the last time around, are now installed correctly.
    And the result is:
I still cannot browse the phone's memory card, from Vista. Phone's memory is visible to the PC, just fine. Interestingly, the Settings for Nokia PC Suite (destinations for music, video, installs, etc.) defaulted to folders on the phone's memory card. When I drag and drop media, on to Nokia PC Suite's Windows desktop app, the files transfer just fine to the phone's memory card. But, this does not work for text or MS Office files (Excel, Word, etc.). Those spike a "unable to copy the file on the phone" message, from Nokia PC Suite.
It appears, for the time being, that my only alternative is the use Mass Storage as a way to access the phone's memory card, from Windows Explorer, in order to transfer data files that aren't media.
And, "operation failed" is still what comes up, from Windows, when I attempt to install .sis files with a double-click in WIndows Explorer. The workaround, though, is to drag-and-drop the .sis file, from Windows Explorer, on to the Nokia PC Suite desktop app.I can live with that.
I'm going to consider this problem to be more-or-less closed. I mean, I understand the workarounds needed.

  • PC Suite Installation Operation Failed, help pleas...

I've just bought a nokia E51 and i can't get the pc suite to install.
The disc that came with the phone has installed the drivers etc, and a newer version of pc suite was found 6.85.14.1 which it downloaded.
However during the installation process it only ever gets to step 5/6 and the message "installation operation failed" comes up with " another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install"
I don't have any other installation going on at the same time. Is there something in my computer stopping this installation? (I've got windows XP)
    Cheers

This message was posted in 2008. It is now 2011, there is no solution placed in this thread, and the problem still exists. Incredible.
I have just tried to install PC Suite (downloaded from Nokia site about a week ago), and can you believe it, the installation still stops at step 5/6 with the same message Installation Operation Failed with not a scrap of additional information about why. I have disabled Realtek drivers (incompatibilities are documented), tried reinstallations etc
Having done some Carbide/Qt/C++ development for Symbian, I am aware that there is usually something that doesn't work, and I have developed countless workarounds for the many problems (its the only way), but this one currently has me stumped.
I would appreciate any tips anyone has how to find out more about this installation failure. Is there a log that tells one what led to the failure, etc ? Thanks.

You need settings for MMs and GPRS sending to your phone. Check out here http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4222200 , you may be able to send them from Nokia website. Failing that if you contact your network provider they will be able to send you the settings

  • OPERATION FAILED installing apps on N95

    Hello Everyone,
recenttly i've got a problem with installing literally everything on my N95. I'm using usb cable and newest Nokia PC suite (never had problems before) and whatever i click it ends with OPERATION FAILED.
I checked my old apps that used to work via usb cable and still FAILED.
N95 installer in the handset is working cause I'm able to install stuff after copying it into mmc but my point is
I'd like to do it via PC suite, more convinient for me.
Now the question is: Can anyone help me with my problem but not to ask me to reset the phone or install any of software updates, i already reinstalled pc suite and updated soft.
Got too many things to reset it all. Please help.
    thanks in advance
    vangassen

Installing in phone will not effect the RAM of the device.
Also, it is not possible to move applications from internal memory to the card - they need to be uninstalled and then reinstalled.
As for advice - I use internal memory for applications such as Safe, Keylock, Office and IM. The memory card I use only for dictionaries - that is applications which I can go without if the card is removed.
