Nokia 6230i PTT switch failure

I bought nokia 6230i 3 months back. Due to some unknown reason, whenever we power on the set now, it gives the message " unable to switch PTT on, check your stteings" and no SIM is not being detected, hence no service.
Apparently all settings seems ok.
can you give some solutio to this?

Download failure to Nokia 6230i

I have a Nokia 6230i, with firmware V03.70.
I cannot download wallpapers, video clips & some ringtones. I have tried different sources for the content, ie vodafone live, monstermob, but I receive the same error message - 'Downloading failed'.
I've been sent a new sim - no difference. I have been sent 3 new Nokia 6230i's from Vodafone - no difference. I tried my sim in a Nokia 6230i with firmware V03.3 and it downloads fine.
This is quite a major issue now, can you help?

First about PC Suite 6.7 functionality:
With PC Suite 6.7 it is still possible to both make a backup from phone and restore the backupfile back to same phone model AS WELL AS transfer data between different phone models. With new version of PC Suite these both functions have been combined to one operation: so first PC Suite makes a backup-file and then reads another "transfer-file" incase the restore is done later to different phone model.
The "transfer-file" is more limited in content due to the fact that phones are different.
Then to the original problem:
If you still have the old phone available, you should use PC Suite 6.7 backup function with 6230 and then you can transfer to 6230i.
If you made a backup only with older PC Suite, then it is not possible to move the backup to 6230i.

I have only owned this phone for a few days but am delighted with it apart from the fact that I cannot download any photos. I had no trouble with a previous Nokia but with this one I either get an Error message or a refer to Microsoft message.
Can anyone help please? I think I have follwed the istructions correctly, but must have done something wrong somewhere.

No joy I'm afraid. All I can think of is give you a description of what I do and what happens.
1. Connect phone. "Use as storqge device?" "no" (as in the manual). "Data enhancement connected " appears.
2 Just over task bar "Nokia 6230i connected by USB"
3. Go to Settings/Connectivity/"use USB"
4. Click on File manager. Error message "The operation could not be completed". Click OK and screen shows desktop folders with two Nokia browser icons, one for new contacts and the other asking for a Microsoft report.
6. Try Store Images. Correct phone shown as is connection by DKU-2. Screen shows "Getting info about images and videos" - and there it stops for as long as I care to leave it.
So there we are. I have a new phone, the latest Nokia software and the correct cable, but it doesn't work.
The only thought that comes to my mind is that the software download may have been corrupted by one of my anti-malware programmes - ZoneAlarm, AVG, PestPatrol and Ewido are the main ones. Would switching any or all off and then reinstalling be of any help?
I am grateful for your patience and hope for a solution soon!

Nokia 6230i needs re-programmed

I have had my Nokia 6230i for nearly 1.5 years and twice it has shut down on me - the screen just went blank. The first time, I just took it into the carphone warehouse where they took out the battery and re-booted it for me. They told me that my phone is still within its warranty and that I might just like to re-programme it - however, I would loose all my information on it. The second time it happened, I just switched it off and then on again myself and that seemed to work.
I'd just like to know has anyone else experienced this problem and had to re-programme their mobile? Plus, is there a way of saving all what I have on my mobile?

Resetting the phone will almost certainly not work, and if you were to do so, you would also loose all the data in the phone.
The problem is almost certainly due to the fact it got wet.
Although you said it did work for a while, the LCD, circuit board and components have probably been slowly corroding and this is what has caused the screen to go white.
Changing the LCD might work, but a reset will certainly not.

Disable voicemail on Nokia 6230i

Hi i am wondering if it is possible to disable the voicemail on a nokia 6230i or is this something i should do through my network?

What network are you on? On Vodafone, for example, you dial 1211 to switch it on and 1210 to switch it off. I imagine the other networks have codes of this kind.

Nokia 6230i Mp3 Player Problem

Well Fair enough, I put some music onto my mobile from the Pc Suite and plugged in the nokia headphones (That Came With The Mobile)
It only played out the right Speaker(Ear) Why>?? So i looked for awhile for an option that could switch it to sterio or something, No option found for that. Has anyone had this problem before or know how to fix it?
I tested multiple files onto the mobile. All in .mp3 format

It is indeed a bit difficult to know exactly whats the problem since the phone not with me. However only thing I suggest that ensure that you have copied the file that is fully compatible to play on 6230i. IF you still feel you have copied the right file the option left now is to visit a Nokia Care

Hi All,
I've recently purchased a 6230i, after owning a 6230 for a year and loving it. However, this is the first time I've actually been dissapointed with a Nokia and here's why:
1. The menu system is really 'laggy', so when you access any menu etc it takes like a second or so for it to actually happen. This isn't long, but the 6230 never did this and it's like pulling teeth going through photo's or the more indepth options, especailly if you make a wrong press. It seems they have updated the screen resolution and menu icons etc (which look great) but they haven't bothered to update the processor to handle this. Really annoying.
2. Both SMS and MMS now share the same inbox. This makes it hard to keep them seperate, as I like to archive my MMS's, as they can be quite good, but now my inbox is rammed with them and the phone will not allow you to move or save them, so they are in the inbox or nothing else. Why? Again, very annoying. Go back to the seperate inboxes or allow MMS's to be moved / saved elsewhere!!!
3. The screensaver clock is now half the size it was? Once again, WHY??? It's hard to enough to see when the backlight is off, but now impossible, unless in good light!
4. It appears (although correct me if I'm wrong) that if you choose a ring tone from the MMC card, it shows it all as being OK, but it actually does not work! You have to move the file to the phones memory first! Aggghhhhh, did nobody debug this phone before it was released? The phone should either not let you do this or warn you it cannot be done!
5. The new button in 4-way switch is far worse then the previous solution, although this was added to fix the problem! Go figure! The button is so in the wrong place! If it was lower it would work like the 6230, but have a posstive feel (great), but they've put it too high, so to get to left, right, up and down you now have to use your finger nail other wise you press the button by accident! Duh...
6. There is a bug that was also in the 6230, where it shows the missed call icon in the screensaver / clock screen, when there is no missed call! If the missed call notification is used accepted or the missed call menu entered and even cleared, the icon will still be there in the screensaver / clock screen. This seems to happen to me every month and it happens on my colleuges 6320i too. It also happened on my 6230 too! Turning the phone off and back on fixes this! Fix it Nokia!!!
7. When the volume is adjusted on movie playback, it puts up the volume screen blocking viewing. Video's normally tend to be loud and it's always the first thing I end up doing on play back, but the phone needs an exception in this screen not to put up the volume page when adjusting and just do it in the background.
I have had Nokia's for about 8 years now and loved them especially for their operating systems, as they wiped the floor with all the others and have great little shortcuts and everything is in a logical place.
However, this is the first time I've actually been disapointed with a Nokia and all becuase of small oversights / not finished the job properly before releasing. It's a great phone and the screen is awesome, but why oh why did they not improve things properly rather than bodge them in to the 6230 system without proper thought.
Well, that's my rant over with and I hope Nokia read this and take it on board for the future.
Any comments, corrections or feedback would be intersting!

1. Your problem with the lagg is not usual on 6230i. I have at least 6-7 friends and co-workers who have this phone and one of them has the laggy menu. I think it is a question of going to a nokia store and fixing the OS.
2. The mms and sms inbox is easier because you can see everything at the same time, unless like you, you have many MMSs
3. I can easily see the clock and have no problem with telling the time aswell. And if you cant, it doesnt take long to click one button so you can see it in the top corner.
4. I do not know what is going on with your MMC. When i select a ring tone it is absolutely fine, and works perfectly. What format are your ring tones in, it might be that the phone cannot actually play them.
5. I love the new button, if it was lower than you would not be able to press the numbers and even if you have large fingers(like myself) it is extremely easy to use. It might be just getting used to it from the 6230, but in my opinion it is much easier to use.
6. The bug you are talking about i am not sure about. I dont remember noticing it, but i am not very good at remembering who gave me a missed call and if i have seen it before or not.
7. The volume adjust is easy to use and shows the screen so u can accuratly adjust the volume. It is not hard to press pause before you cchange the volume so you do not miss the video, it only one button!
Personally i find the Nokia 6230i a much appreciated upgrade and think nokia did a great job, except there are a few problems with the Pc Suite, otherwise "Keep it up nokia"!

Nokia 6230i Ford Car kit cradle

I have a Ford factory fitted car kit that is part of my dvd touch screen sat nav system. I have a Nokia 6230i and it was recently stolen from my car along with the cradle. I bought a new 6230i and a new cradle from Ford but when I install it in the cradle it says enhancement not supported. The Ford dealer that supplied the cradle have tried several different cradles and have now told me that the one I have is for a 6230 and that Ford do not make one for the 6230i. But my original one worked so they must do! Does anyone have one that works? And if so can they tell me the part number?

You have the correct cradle for the 6230i and it will work even with the newest software released some days ago.(v3.89)
"Enhancement not supported" is an indication for a problem with the ACI-Chip in the car's phone module (Accessory Control Interface-Chip).
So there is a problem in the Nokia handsfree module.
Unfortunately, there is no other possibility than going to your local Ford dealer and letting the "BT/VC" module replace.
This error is known at all Ford hotlines and it should be no problem for your dealer to clarify this.

Nokia 6230i Mouthpiece Volume When Using Headset

Hi When you're listening to music using a headset attached to the Nokia 6230i, what do you do when you want to answer a call? If I leave the headset plugged in, I can hear the person calling me fine, but they can't hear me very well and I sound very distant. However it seems very awkward to try and unplug the headset quickly when you receive a call, in order to talk to somebody. I was curious to know if anyone else has this problem, and if you do, what do you do when answering your phone? Many Thanks. trace

You didn't mention make/model of your headset. Some headsets have a button to accept a call and a microphone mounted very close to this button. You could hold the button/microphone close to your mouth. Thank you so much for that embedded_system.I feel like such an utter idiot!

Nokia won't switch on

My Nokia Asha 201 switches off right after I switch it on.. I was resetting my phone to factory settings and after that it wouldn't switch on anymore but instead it keeps flashing on the buttons. When I try to switch it on it shows NOKIA then it switches off immediately then the buttons start flashing.. How can I solve this? I was also thinking of using Samsung once and for all because my Nokia lumnia is giving me a problem too but for now I need all the data I saved on my Nokia Asha 201

Turn off the phone, remove the battery, and wait like 30 minutes. Then put the battery back in carefully, and try to turn on the phone and see what happens.

Nokia 6230i security code

i have a nokia 6230i. 1 month old bought on 02 pay as you go. but have been using my contract 02 sim in it. now i have decided to use the pay as you go sim because bills are to high. put the pay and go sim in the phone and its coming up security code. iv tried the default number 12345 but it wont unlock. the security code has not been changed.
it works with any other sim card in it apart from the one it came wiv. can you help?

You have to wait 15 minutes if you have tried three times before you entered 12345. It locks.

T61 [7663-V5M] XP ENG SP3 AND CONNECTION VIA NOKIA PC SUITE WITH NOKIA 6230i

I've got T61 and Nokia 6230i. I'm not able to establish connection between T61 and Nokia 6230i via Nokia Pc Suite. When I try to connect those two devices via Nokia Ps Suite. I've got error message that connection can't be established. BT is in both devices enabled.
-> IBM T61 - XP PROF ENG SP3 BIOS NEWEST VERSION
-> NOKIA 6230i - OS VER. 3.89
The funniest thing is this that I can connect T61 and Nokia 6230i without Nokia Pc Suite.
What could be wrong? Why I'm not able to connect via Nokia Pc Suite? How can I solve this problem?
