Nokia 6230i Re-install Deleted facility IE: World ...

Having just had my new phone my daughter in helping me set up the phone inadvertantly deleted the World Time facility, found via Applications-Collection gives you World Time/COnverter 2/Translator facilities.
How do i get and re-install the World Time facility?

Welcome to our community, gavanshire. You mean to say that the tiles are grayed out, right? How did you apply a cover photo for a certain tile? Note that it will only appear those photos if it were uploaded to OneDrive. If you have not tried it yet, here's how: open the Photos hub > (...) > settings > Auto upload > OneDrive. Once done, synchronize your Microsoft account under the email+accounts. Go to Settings > email+accounts > tap and hold your account > sync. Check it again if you will be able to see any pictures on that tile.
Let us know the outcome.

I'm using a Nokia 6230i version 1.4, Nokia PC suite 6.8 and Bluetooth software 1.4.1 build 7, and Windows XP 2.
the problem is i can't install an application from the nokia application installer. i can see the other applications installed on my phone but whenever i try to install another one, it keeps me an "operation failed" message. in the past, i have installed more than five applications, but now, i can't install a single app.

Hi,
I think that reason is this: There are not enough free memory for applications anymore (BTW: free memory for applications is smaller than phone's whole free memory)
Delete not needed applications from phone and try again...

Nokia 6230i Ford Car kit cradle

I have a Ford factory fitted car kit that is part of my dvd touch screen sat nav system. I have a Nokia 6230i and it was recently stolen from my car along with the cradle. I bought a new 6230i and a new cradle from Ford but when I install it in the cradle it says enhancement not supported. The Ford dealer that supplied the cradle have tried several different cradles and have now told me that the one I have is for a 6230 and that Ford do not make one for the 6230i. But my original one worked so they must do! Does anyone have one that works? And if so can they tell me the part number?

You have the correct cradle for the 6230i and it will work even with the newest software released some days ago.(v3.89)
"Enhancement not supported" is an indication for a problem with the ACI-Chip in the car's phone module (Accessory Control Interface-Chip).
So there is a problem in the Nokia handsfree module.
Unfortunately, there is no other possibility than going to your local Ford dealer and letting the "BT/VC" module replace.
This error is known at all Ford hotlines and it should be no problem for your dealer to clarify this.

You can't delete any of the pre-installed apps. If not restricted, Go to: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout...see if you see it now.

Nokia 6230i Speed-Dials

I have a Nokia 6230i and wish to set speed dials as I had on my previous phone, a Nokia 8210.
On the 8210 I could set the speed dial on all numbers 1 - 9, including the No. 1 button. By pressing the key pad No. (e.g. number 1 button) and then pressing the hash button (bottom right) the display would change and the telephone number of speed dial for button No 1 would be displayed (e.g. 0121 123 4567) prior to making the call.
I could do this with all buttons 1 - 9 and show the 'phone number for each button.
The instruction book did not show how to do this,but somehow I managed it: I've since forgotten how I did it!
I would like to have the same function on my 6230i but I cannot replicate the same conditions as my 8210. On the 6230i I can put speed dials in buttons 2 - 9 (but not in button No 1 as it defaults to 901 each time - which I don't want) but I cannot find the facility for showing the number on screen for all the 1 - 9 buttons prior to dialing. Can anybody help please?

Go into the following Menus:
Messages >> Voice Messages >> Voice Mailbox
Change voice mailbox number (available by ringing your operator) or whatever you want to change it to.

PC Suite fails to sync my Nokia 6230i with Outlook

Hi,
Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can make my Nokia 6230i sync with Outlook?
I am using PC Suite which connects to my phone perfectly (using bluetooth). All functionality seems to work, except for the Sync function! The 'error' is that it reports 'synchronisation completed' but 0 entries have been updated.
I have followed most of the solution directions on the web, but have not succeeded in making it work.
My config:

PC Connectivity Solution: Version 10.24.0.0
Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver: Version 7.1.29.0
Operating system:
Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit Edition, Service Pack 1

Connect the phone via USB
Open Nokia Suite
Click the blue and white lifebuoy icon furthest to the right
Click Installed Programs and wait for the list to load
Click the Start page icon furthest to the left
Click Synchronize all
* Sync is slower than usual and fails with errors 80100023 and 80043c93
Workaround:
Close Nokia Suite
Disconnect the phone from the computer
Connect the phone via USB
Open Nokia Suite
Click Synchronize all
Now works as usual
Windows 7 64-bit / Nokia N8-00 Belle Danish / Nokia Suite 3.3.89
The small Qt stability update for Belle is installed on the N8.

Where can I find Games for my Nokia 6230i

I have a Nokia 6230i, I would like to find some additional games to download for it.
I have even worked out how to install games onto it from .jar files (this seems to be a problem to some on this board)
The only games I can find to install are freeware .jar games on sites other than Nokia, these seem riddled with adverts and delay screens ... not what I want.
Where can I download games that I can then install ... happy to pay for them ... just cant find any on the Nokia websites.

The best place for quality games for that old model is www.gameloft.co.uk . Not sure if they need a data connection or give you the files.
Other than that sifting through the junk that you find on google is your only option.
I would be surprised if nokia offered games for it through it's ovi store due to the age of it, again a data connection would be needed. http://store.ovi.com

i am thinking of buying a nokia 6230i, but do not know wot type of usb lead i need or where to get it. i need a compatible usb lead to be able to transfer stuff from my pc to fone,etc

GRRRRRR. Has anyone managed to install the DKU 2 with windows 98SE?
Doing a Google search it seems to be a major problem yet they are supposed to be compatible.
One forum said it'd work if I did several things including updating the composite usb driver, however, it won't let me update the driver. I've spend days on this and am getting really p'd off.
Any ideas anyone?

Nokia 6230i @ indicator

Hello, I currently own a Nokia 6230i. Last week i received a E-mail message, however i have not purchased any e-mail package or have i set up any e-mail account on my phone.
Now i have a @ indicator on my screen which i can not get rid of. I have checked the manual and i cant find this indicator anywhere.
Can you please tell me how i can delete this "@" indicator from my screen, or at least what it means.

Did you delete/remove (or read/open) any and all email messages or email settings on the phone?
I don't have a 6230i, but I think the indicator means you have an unread email message. Opening it or reading it should clear the indicator in that case.

Nokia 6230i oneway sync

I have just adjusted all the sync devices, and -though the first time everything worked ok- now, the addressbook only works from my mobile to the computer, but not the other way round, although the calendar information does.. any explanation or/and solution?

I had the same problem with
- XP service pack 2
- D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth stick (version B4)
- Nokia 6230i
I have been browsing the net and trying things on and off for the last year, getting more and more frustrated as this is not the cheapest phone and the Outlook sync function was exactly one of the reasons why I bought it.
To get it working:
- Uninstall Nokia and D-Link software (everything)
- Reboot
- Run the Nokia PC Cleaner and clean everything(http://www.nokia.com/A4144912)
- Reboot
- Connect the Bluetooth stick and just let Windows install its stack. I haven't tried it with the WIDCOMM stack provided with the D-Link software as the windows stack works just fine.
- Install PC Suite
Why did it fail in the first place:
The first time that I installed everything, the Windows stack was interfering with the WIDCOMM stack. Even after uninstalls, the registry was already messed up. I just can't believe I have not heard of this PC Cleaner before. Note that the Benelux Nokia site doesn't mention it anywhere!

Connection problem with my nokia 6230i

I try to connect my nokia with a nokia cable to my computer. I already did this on my mobile without any problem. When I try to do the same on my desktop I receive the following message :
there was a problem during the installation of your material nokia 6230i
this name is already in use as a service name or service name for display.

My guess is you need to reinstall your drivers.
This is a pain, but not too complicated.
- first, un-install everything Nokia-related from the PC via Contol Panel - be sure you include the Cable drivers!
- restart the computer (yes, really)
- install PC Suite as normal*
- restart the computer
* NB: it is VERY important that after you're prompted to plug in the phone during the PC Suite installation, you WAIT until ALL of the drivers are installed.
This will take AT LEAST 2 or 3 minutes, probably longer.

No alert is displayed; also problem with Nokia 6230i

I have quite a simple piece of code, like:
Alert al = new Alert(.....);
al.setTimeout(Alert.FOREVER);
display.setCurrent(al);
showMainForm();showMainForm() is another function which displays, say, a List or Form - again by using display.setCurrent() method.
When I run my program in the emulator, no alert comes up at all! If I add a debugging code (e.g. System.out.println("Show alert");) - the text is printed - but I am still unable to see the alert - the showMainForm() function is immediately called and the next form/list is displayed.
I also have a problem with deploying my applications onto Nokia 6230i - when I try to install the jar file, packaged by WTK, onto the phone, and then launch it - the phone comes up with an error message 'Invalid application' - although the program perfectly runs in the emulator.
MIDP and CLDC are both set to version 1.0.

Unfortunately calling Thread.sleep() doesn't achieve much: the application just freezes for 5 seconds - still no alert is displayed. I searched through this forum - many people came across this problem. For several of them it disappeared randomly, the rest suggested that this was a bug in Sun's SDK... Is Sun doing anything about it? Is there a definite solution to this problem at all?
