Nokia 6263

Hopefully someone can help me out...I just got a new Nokia 6263 (on T-Mobile) but the phone won't work with iSync. I've looked everywhere (Apple's website, Nokia's site and Nova Media) but I can't find a program that will allow me to use iSync or even get my ical events on my phone.
Pleas help if you have any ideas.

My wife had the same problem with her Nokia 6263 (T-Mobile) not working with iSync. Fortunately,
I knew what to do since I modify iSync to synced with my US Cellular Motorola Krzr 1m and Razr 2 phones. First set up phone for bluetooth use, in the system preference folder. Once setup quit iSync if it is running. Hold down the control key while selecting iSync a sub-menu should appear. Click on Show Package Contents and open the following folders in this order:
Contents → Plugins → ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice → Contents → Plugins Now select Nokia-
6133.phoneplugin and duplicate this folder. Change the name of the duplicated to Nokia-6263.phoneplugin...... Now open these folders up Contents → Resources. Now change image file com.nokia.6133.tiff to com.nokia.6263.tiff Next open up MetaClasses.plist with TextEdit
Find and replace every entry for 6133 with 6263 , next find entry 0x04C1 and replace with 0x0014 (which is the new model ID). Save the changes startup iSync and add devices. Finally
okia 6263 should be recognized.

and read the post by resuna (2nd from the bottom). It works like a charm. You can get to the MetaClasses.plist either by using the terminal, or in the Finder when you get to PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin you will have to do a cntrl-click and "show package contents" to drill down to the MetaClasses.plist, which you can open and editor (I used TextWrangler).
I did a speed test in the Dallas area (http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?java=1) and got 327 kb/s down, 97 kb/s up. Not too bad for a phone connection.

Nokia 6263 broken screen can't find file transfer ...

Hi, I recentely broke the screen on my Nokia 6263 and I installed PC suite in order to chcek text messages for this reason. However, it says that my phone is in file transfer mode and I was wondering if anybody could give me a step by step to turning off file transfer. I need someone to tell me how to navigate through the phone similar to this thread

once in main menu, i cant just go to any sub menu by pressing a number key, i have to use directional pad to go to CONTACTS, in there, press UP, (go to the last selection)it's COPY CONTACTS, an other UP, it's MOVE CONTACTS,
choose either one, once in, you have two option, first: FROM PHONE TO SIM, 2nd: FROM SIM TO PHONE, if u select the first one, it asks : move contacts? press center to answer YES, and wait, it may takes a while, i did with 60 contacts, in about 20 seconds.
by default, in grid mode, the upper center icon is the contacts.

Import photos from Nokia 6263

Have a Nokia 6263, the jpg's from this phone cannot be read by iPhoto, it tries to read them but says that the import failed. I have been able to open these files in Photoshop and re-save them as jpg's and then open them in iPhoto. In Photoshop it says that the color profile doesn't match or something like that.
Is there a way to import the files directly to iPhoto without the extra step?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

No. Though you may not need to use Photoshop. It may be enough to open and save them in Preview.
In Photoshop it says that the color profile doesn't match or something like that.
It might help if you could tell us that message exactly.

Non-Compatible USB Connection For Nokia 6263

I'm unable to connect my Nokia 6263 using the PC Suite Application, why?

I alss have exactly the same problem. The error message says - "Nokia XpressMusic 5800 connected in a non compatible USB mode". So it does not connect with the computer. Yet its fine on my laptop and I'm able to connect succesfully. So why is it OK on the laptop but not on the Desktop? Both O/S are Win Vista Home Premium and are up to date with service packs etc/.

Nokia 6263 backlight

The backlight on my Nokia 6263 dims in about 15 seconds. The Samsung I used to have had allowed me to set the time till dim at 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes.
The 6263 has no such settings and I have to continually hit a button to relight the display. 15 seconds is a very short time when you're reading the display or deciding what you want to do next. It dims at about 15 seconds and goes black at about 30 seconds. I haven't timed it yet and don't know the exact times but it's rather annoying.
Does anyone know if a firmware upgrade is planned to address this issue?

Disable voice dial on Nokia 6263.

I have an Australian accent, so the voice dial feature is about as useful to me as a cardboard umbrella. Unfortunately it seems that even after turning off every voice-related option I can, if I nudge, knock, brush, or even press the button on my headset to turn it off for to short a time it will decide "oh, that's a tap, he wants to voice dial".
It's worse than having a 5 year old who's just discovered how to speed dial.
I want to gut, eviscerate, eliminate, disintegrate, annihilate, and disable with extreme prejudice every jot, tittle, pinch, hint, or skerrick of support for "voice dial" in my Nokia 6263.
Am I SOL?

I also have a Nokia 5310 and was having the same problem. I found that after I reset the phone settings (menu>settings>Rest.factory sett.>Restore settings only), when voice dialing is activated, the phone activates the "train voice recognition" feature instead of actually doing any voice recognition/voice dialing. The phone just sits there and waits for user input. I'm not sure if the 6263 has a "train voice recognition" feature, but if it does, this may work for you.

6263 won't power off

Hi,
I have a Nokia 6263 that won't turn off. When I press the end/power button it vibrates briefly as if it's going to turn off but then just stays on. Anyone have any ideas as to why I can't turn my phone off?

try to remove the battery, put it back in and power on the device.
try the normal procedure for turn on and off. a software glitch might be preventing the device from powering off.

Bluetooth Stereo (A2DP) and the Parrot DS1120?

I'd like to buy some bluetooth speakers -the parrot DS1120s to be specific ( http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/wirelessspeakers/parrotds1120 )- to go with my PowerBook G4 for presentations and listening to music.
My concern is with the performance of A2DP in Leopard. I have an HBH-DS970 ( http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/hbh-ds970?cc=us&lc =en ) stereo bluetooth headset that I use with my Sony Ericsson P1i phone. It works flawlessly with the phone, the music sounds great and plays without issue. However, when I try to use the HBD-DS970 with my PowerBook G4 the music stutters every few seconds.
My questions:
* Is anyone using A2DP in Leopard with success?
* What hardware are you using?

Any luck with the parrot speakers? My moto s9 headphones sound great with my nokia 6263, but when paired with my macbook running 10.5, sound like crap. Yet they sound pretty darn good when running windows xp. The problem must be related to 10.5, and not the hardware. Anyone out there know why apple has dropped the ball in terms of a2dp support? The idiots at the genius bar claim it's cuz people aren't interested in stereo w/o wires. Bullcaca. Come on apple, get your sh.t together and give us an update that gives us listenable audio via our stereo bluetooth headsets. If nokia can manage it for my $100 phone surely you folks can. BTW, once you support a2dp on the iphone, I will buy one.

I have been using a smartphone for years, but it needs replaced. I really wanted to move away from Windows Mobile, and researched the 6120 and PC Suite and it looked like it would do the job, although detailed information was a bit sparse.
So I've taken out a contract with 3, with the idea that I could check the details during the cooling off period. To my surprise, even the documentation supplied on purchase doesn't help, and 3's return terms won't allow me to 'customise' ie load data to see.
I can't find any mention of addresses in FAQs or in these forums, only some discussion about inaccurate mapping of fields from Outlook, so I fear the worst ...
So can I store and sync fields for things like names, addresses, notes and other miscellaneous data items, like I can with my smartphone?
For completeness: PC side, win xp, Outlook 2003; Nokia device 6120 Classic, and it would be latest PC Suite version

The latest version for my phone, T-Mobile Nokia 6263, sync'd everything in my Outlook contact file. All phone numbers, email addresses and mailing addresses. There is no way to pick what fields to sync. You can create a "custom" Outlook folder that you can sync to. But then you have to maintain addresses and phone numbers in 2 places.
I am returning my phone because I cannot load my entire Outlook contact file to the phone's internal memory. PC Suite software won't let me load contacts to the SD card and I can't reduce the amount of information by picking only the fields that I want on the phone. That to me is really poor software design. It makes the phone unusable for me. The software clearly needs improvement.
(As a rough benchmark, I have about 900 contacts in my Outlook database. My spouse has about 400. I was able to load her contact list, but not mine.)

Can anyone show me an example mencoder command line that will create a 3gp video playable on a Nokia 6263 phone?

Start by looking up the specs for your phone - looks like it can handle 3GPP formats (H.263), H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, but I'm not sure at what max resolution and bit-rate - so find that out. It is probably capable of playing 15fps.
Next, look at the examples on the help page for mencoder & start by modifying the vcodec and acodec parameters for your output type. Search for 3gp on that help page.
Experiment till you get it right Let us know what works (or doesn't)!
PS: Nokia has a free media converter tool as well, but it seems to be very old & I haven't tried it so I don't know what it can do.

Hello, I bought my 6263 from T-Mobile last week and I am trying to tether it to my laptop but when I do I don't get Edge network speed.It also doesn't show the E on the screen.. When I use my T-Mobile Dash I do have Edge. Can someone that has the same phone let me know what the internet settings are. I have talked to Nokia and T-mobile and no one seems to know anything about this phone. Also, I was wondering if there were supposed to be settings under the dual mode setting. Mine is blank. Thank you. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, i'm having a similar problem with my new nokia 5300. i can not get it to connect to the egprs network. What's funny is my dad has the motorola w490 and he can't connect with EDGE either. So, does T-Mobile have EGPRS? They say they do on their website. It really looks like we need the Access Point URL for the EGPRS server, like 'internet2.voicestream.com'. I, too, cannot get any help from T-Mobile, in fact the tech support dude would not even take my call about the EDGE on my phone, even went as far as too say that my phone does not have it! which was a slap in the face (nokia's manual, t-mobile's manual, the sales rep at the corporate store, their OWN website (t-mobile.com), and my education in computer science). So what's really going on? Any solutions, let me know.

I sent my 808 in for service and requested a wipe to factory defaults due to some issues that I was having. When my phone was returned to me, I had great difficulty loging in to Nokia Account and Ovi Store Mobile. There is a round wheel that would just keep spinning when the respective apps were launched and eventually fail.
There was also a odc.nokia.com error which claims to be expiring in 3 months (May 2014).
I have returned my 808 back to Nokia Care. I hope the issues can be rectified.

Delete file from NOKIA C5-03 phone memory

I still face a problem that when I buy mobile then phone memory was 40MB, but now it reduced to 30MB. I try to browse and remove unwanted file from phone memory. But nothing gonna happen. I also use pc suite, mass storage etc, but can't. What can I do now?

Try clearing browser cache and your messages from inbox. Try installing ET optimizer or netqin mobile guard. They both can be used to remove trash files.
