Nokia 6280, a way to make it louder?

Hi all
I have a nokia 6280 atm and I listen to alot of music with the headphones. The thing is, when im like stuck in traffic for example the music seems really quite. My mp3 player used to go mauch louder. I even set the volume on maximum. Is there any way to make it even louder or buy better headphones?
p.s. ive bought a headphone adapter so i can plug it into normal headphones but it still is pretty quiet compared to my old mp3 player

If you have firmware 5.92 or newer, you could try raising the equalisers up...although I dont understand how your audio volume is decreasing...mines loud..working fine...at least in my opinion.

Aside from 1) the obvious volume adjustment feature on face of ipod, 2) downloading high quality songs and 3) moving the volume adjustment notch to 100% in the OPTIONS tab of each songs' "get info" section, is there ANY OTHER WAY TO MAKE THE songs on IPOD play LOUDER?
It logically makes sense that there should be a way to do that, doesnt it?
I've tried different headsets.... just cant hear the ipod very well at the gym. Anyone else have this problem or a solution?

If you cannot hear it, cranking it up will simply increase the volume level (re. more likely to damage your hearing).
Better off getting set of earphones to block the outside noise levels and keep the iPod volume at acceptable levels.

Nokia 6280 - not allowed to make calls or use web.

Anyone know how to reset this handset. Had it 2 days, only changed the pincodes, now unable to make any outgoing functions work?? Any clues please.....

Actually I did the 50+ mile round trip and a re-flash didn't fix it. Came back and called 3 tech help who send me to a Carphone Warehouse store (8 miles away this time) to check if the SIM worked in another 3 phone. It didn't but they couldn't check my phone as 'they didn't have an active 3 SIM in the store'. Back to cust. services who told me they would decide whether to recall the phone (now 7 days old) or send another SIM within 24 hours - now 25 hours ago and no call.
I guess I should have just insisted on them picking it up in the first place or called the internet site that sold me the phone. Meanwhile I'm glad I've still got my old O2 phone! The downside is that it's going to cost me at least 1 more 0870 call to find out what's going on. I wonder what the chances are of getting some money off my bill this month?

Ways to transfer music on to nokia 6280 pls help

I know is a bit stupid to ask but I really need help on this
I would like to transfer some of my favorite cd traks on to my nokia 6280
but the thing is that I don't have pc at home
can any body tell me what are some of the ways to tarnsfer music in to my mobile?
I already have the nokia cd that came with the phone when I bought it
is it good idea if I use internet club comupters to tarnsfer music ???

Hi. My pc wont take the pc suite so all I do is plug the phone in with the supplied data cable, set the fone to data transfer mode, and the fone shows on the pc as "G" drive. It could also be D,E, F and etc, it depends on what other devices you have on the pc. Once you do this you can drag and drop either way, music pics whatever. Hope this is of help.

Any way to make overall system volume louder???

Is there a plug-in or app that can boost the overall system volume. The overall volume seems to be strangely low in these powerbooks. I was on an airplane watching a DVD via headphones (the B&O high end ones that I use with my ipod) and I could barely hear the DVD over the plane hum. I have both the system volume and the DVD Player volume up. I also have problems with certain QT Movies and WMV movies that the volume is low with and just have no way beyond the the players volume control and the system volume to make it louder.

Unfortunately not. One thing you can do to improve the volume, not to mention bass response, is to go wirth in-ear style headphones. They not only do they improve overall volume and audio quality they do reduce external noise.

Nokia 6280 failure restoring contact list using pc...

I own a Nokia 6280. Firmware - v3.81
OS: Win XP.
I took the phone to my local phone provider(partner orange, from which I bought the device) to update the phones version. This action has deleted my entire contact list.
Beforehand I made a backup using the pc suite back up feature, and the backup went smoothly. Now, when I try to restore my info using the restore function in the backup(content copier),it restores everything except the contact list. Somewhat in the middle of the resotration of the contact list, an error jumps saying the connection to the phone has been list. A few seconds later the connection restores automatically.
I tried solving the problem using this thread:

But it didnt quite work
What can I do to solve this problem? How can I restore my contacts?
And if not, Is there a way to convert the Backup NBU file into Outlook VCF format?

except notepad can't disipher the the names into english, and so cant hexedit's of their sort.

I tried to recover the phone as soon as I recieved it from the phone provider with the new v3.81. That is , the manufacturer's settings were the default. Unfortunantly that didn't work.

Nokia 6280 screen

I have just got a new nokia 6280...which I love by the way! Just got 1 problem, if you leave it for a few minutes the screen goes black. i.e it shows the data time etc in the white strip for a few mins then goes all black.
I want to be able to see the phone status...e.g if i have any messages without opening the phone...Does this make sense!!??

Go to Menu>Settings>Display>Sleep mode and select it off. This will keep the white strip showing.

Nokia 6280 and errors with iSync

I have purchased a nokia 6280 and paired the phone to my mac. I am wanting to sync my address book and calendars from my mac to my phone.
I can send individual cards from Address Book by selecting the card and then going to CARDS>>SEND THIS CARD. When I try to sync using iSync 2.3. I receive the message
[Nokia 6280] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.

I have had this problem before and i took it to a nokia service centre, i told them to clean it and also i told them if it was common, they said it was very common and the man said it happens to all the 6280's (mostly), then he cleaned it for me, i think i know how to clean it but i have NEVER cleaned it myself because i don't want to void my precious 24 months warranty but i'll give you some advice, NEVER try to clean this phone even if you had a solution NEVER clean it.

I'm making a voice chat application, that currently works using the Java Sound API (So no JMF), in the following PCM_SIGNED format:

Also, I noticed that during the voice chat the volume was very low, so I've searched this forum, and I've found a way to increase the VOLUME, and later the GAIN, but these values were already on full volume, so I couldn't make the microphone any louder.
Is there a way to make the voice chat louder than it currently is?
My program is a J2SE GUI application, there are no servlets, both sides of the voice chat are GUI Desktop Applications, the voice chat is happening on UDP sockets.

Nokia 6280 display issue!!! Pls help!!

I live in United States and i use nokia 6280 for almost 1 year, but recently my phone display turn black whenever I slide it up/down. and i can't make a call with black screen as my display, and i also think that this is a strange situation that i've never seem. well i tried to it already, like you said switch it off for 15 mins, but it still won't work. about the damaged cable i guess that might be a problem, but how come it damaged though. don't get how NOKIA works NOW!! though, if the cable damaged it should be black screen all the time rite? but mine sometimes it disappears sometimes it appears.Message Edited by janzz on 21-Jun-200702:49 PM

Nokia 6280 Wont turn-on

Just got a new nokia 6280 2 days ago.
Tried to send a vid on bluetooth and the phone went off and now wont turn-on.
When I press the power is starts with the nokia logo then 4 funny screen flashes then turns off is there any way to fix this???

Themes Problem URGENT Nokia 6280

When chaging over themes. howcome the background to the main menu stays the same. this is very annoyin. i want to change this background but dont know how to do so. i have a green theme throughtout with a bright blue background at menu. can anyone help me with this?

What kind of main menu view have you chosen? I have the same problem with my 6280 (v3.81) when I choose Tab view. Try to open the menu, go to the options -> main menu view and set it to List, for example. I have also created my own themes with Nokia Theme Studio (avaliable on www.forum.nokia.com) and I haven't found the way to remove that blue background in tab view... Regards, dHeaven

Error in sync between macbook pro and nokia 6280

hello, i just bought my first mac, and I am trying to sync with isync between my phone nokia 6280 and the mac wihout any success.
my mac is empty and most of the information is on my phone.
i try to reset sync history and to restart my phone and many things from the support site but it didnt help.
when I start the sync for the first time, in the beginning it looks good but than close to the end there is a massage problem with "inconsistencies in your sync information for.... and have been repaired.... the next sync...... may take longer..."
and than when i try the second time i get the error "synchronization failed... an unexpected error occured"
please help me
