Nokia 6280 - connectivity

I am unable to get connect to my PC - all I get is a message telling me that there is no connection type available to the phone and therefore cannot be established.
Have re-installed PC suite twice to no avail. It is driving me mad.

hi! i have a new 6280 and have installed all PCSuite and cable drivers software and updates. i have a CA-53 cable. below are all the specs. i followed installation instructions correctly. when i get to the Get Connected setup window, i click "cable connection", then "next" and connect the phone and cable to the pc. nothing happens in this window, but i get a windows error message that says "the device has malfunctioned" and "windows doesn't recognise it."
after a minute or so, my phone sees it has a cable connected and i choose the default mode, but still the "Get Connected" setup window doesn't see it, and windows gives the same error message bubble as before.
i tried selecting the phone in PC Sync, but it doesn't find my phone.
i also check the settings for "cable connection" in the Connection Manager, but the configure button stays deactivated. i've tried rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling, but nothing works to continue with the setup. the only thing that seems to have worked is in "My Computer" i can see the Nokia Phone Browser and access that. but it only shows how to add a new contact or write a text message.
now i'm just wondering if i need to have my phone chip card activated, meaning that it's online and can make calls. well, it won't be activated for another week. is that what this is all about? if it is, it's not clear in the setup. it only states that this section of the setup is for connecting the phone to the computer, and no mention at all about connecting to the internet or my phone line provider.
all i want to do is continue the installation of the software and i want windows to recognise it.
i checked the help files and did as they say. the device manager has no listing of any nokia products - wireless or otherwise.
please can you tell me what to do? thanks.

While phone connected to PC, right click My computer - manage - device manager and see if there are any unknwn yellow question mark devices. If yes, highlight it - right click - uninstall.
Boot PC
Also battery boot your phone and run factory settings to it.
Now connect the phone again and see if it pops up the question about the USB mode right away (that is how it should work and not wait for a minute to appear.
I have 6280 and I tried to connect it without the SIM card and it connected normally. I also got the question in phone about the USB mode immediately.
But, I don't know is there a difference if you connect the phone to PC first time ever without a SIM
If it continues to be so that the USB mode does not pop up, I would consider taking the phone to a service center.

When i click on the connectivity to set my bluetooth to YES,it wont seem to let me click on it and just stays on no.
Any1 help apreciated
or links to show me how to fix the problem

Nokia 6280 and errors with iSync

I have purchased a nokia 6280 and paired the phone to my mac. I am wanting to sync my address book and calendars from my mac to my phone.
I can send individual cards from Address Book by selecting the card and then going to CARDS>>SEND THIS CARD. When I try to sync using iSync 2.3. I receive the message
[Nokia 6280] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.

My phone does not promtp me to accept a connection. Any suggestions?

I have had this problem before and i took it to a nokia service centre, i told them to clean it and also i told them if it was common, they said it was very common and the man said it happens to all the 6280's (mostly), then he cleaned it for me, i think i know how to clean it but i have NEVER cleaned it myself because i don't want to void my precious 24 months warranty but i'll give you some advice, NEVER try to clean this phone even if you had a solution NEVER clean it.

Nokia 6280 on Vodafone UK gprs connection problem

Hi,
I have troubles connecting my PC to the nokia 6280 modem to browse on the web.
My nokia is WAPing properly but when I use the one touch access (PC suit)my PC cannot be connected to the mobile's modem. It asks my for a password and a user name.
Is it easy to get it? (I have a pay as you go Vodafone service)
Any ideas please?

Nokia 6280 failure restoring contact list using pc...

Hello,
I own a Nokia 6280. Firmware - v3.81
OS: Win XP.
I took the phone to my local phone provider(partner orange, from which I bought the device) to update the phones version. This action has deleted my entire contact list.
Beforehand I made a backup using the pc suite back up feature, and the backup went smoothly. Now, when I try to restore my info using the restore function in the backup(content copier),it restores everything except the contact list. Somewhat in the middle of the resotration of the contact list, an error jumps saying the connection to the phone has been list. A few seconds later the connection restores automatically.
I tried solving the problem using this thread:

But it didnt quite work
What can I do to solve this problem? How can I restore my contacts?
And if not, Is there a way to convert the Backup NBU file into Outlook VCF format?

except notepad can't disipher the the names into english, and so cant hexedit's of their sort.

I tried to recover the phone as soon as I recieved it from the phone provider with the new v3.81. That is , the manufacturer's settings were the default. Unfortunantly that didn't work.

Nokia 6280, lose of reception all of a sudden

Hi,
a few months ago My nokia 6280 all of a sudden lost reception even though i live in a full reception area and always have full 4 bars. It lost it for 3 days and i thought it was a network fault, but when i took sim card out and put it in an old fone it worked fine.
tonight, it has done the same thing but this time, it loses reception completely, and then 2 mins later gets full again!, it is really annoying cos i cant make any fone calls or send txts. it just says error in connection
ive tried turning it on and off and takin battery and sim out, but no luck...
any ideas? and anyone experience the same?

Don't worry i had the same problem for a whole week!
Ended up using my trusted Sony Ericsson W850i instead of my 6280.
What i did was i took the battery out for a whole day and it simply worked again. I don't know what the problem was but it may not be similar to yours.

Nokia 6280 - how do you get it offline?

I recently purchases a second hand Nokia 6280. According to the Quick Start Guide under Phone hints it says: "Offline Mode: in the Profiles menu is offline mode, which turns off the mobile network connection. Choose this mode to use your Nokia 6280 when normal phones must be switched off (on planes, for example)" I do not seem to have this offline mode as an option. I get the following options only: General, Silent, Meeting, Outdoor, My Style 1, My Style 2 and Lock Keypad. Anybody got any suggestions, or is the Guide simply wrong ? Cheers

You'd have to take it to a service centre for an update.
There is no guarantee you'll get 5.92 though as it depends if the handset is operartor/network branded or not.

Help - I broke the screen on my Nokia 6280 and want to connect by bluetooth to try to retrieve some information. Could someone please tell me what keystrokes I need to use to switch on bluetooth?

Middle button for menu, press up then right, then the middle button to select, go 6 down and press the middle button to select, then select again, then select again, then up then select.
Now bluetooth is turned on.

Nokia 6280 problem transferring music from PC to P...

I am a bit of a novice when it comes to phones but I recently purchased a Nokia 6280. I have downloaded PC Suite version 6.82.22.0 and am using a CA-53 USB cable to connect my phone to my PC, however I am unable to download any tunes to my phone. I keep getting a message stating that there is insufficient memory on my phone. This I find hard to believe as it is a brand new phone with new memory card
I am using Windows XP, Build 2006, Service Pack 2.
I have checked the help page of PC suite and in relation to the Connectivity Cable Drivers it states "Not Installed"

In the control panel-> add/remove software-> remove all the Nokia related driver software. Clean the registry with Ccleaner and download the latest version of Nokia PCSuite. Install and connect the phone with a compatible USB cable when asked.

Unable to send message Nokia 6280

Dear friends
My phone is a nokia 6280, it is connected via bluetooth through Nokia Pc suite and I am able to synchronise it, exchange files but when I try to send a message appears : "unable to send a message" I freed the memory, but still does not want to send messages, I am using the old version of nokia PC suite and the Microsoft bluetooth stack.
Shall I upgrade to the last version (PC suite april 2007), it is really compatible?

Generally I use my phone as a modem . As I didn't have a usb cable I used bluetooth to connect my phone. I tried to upgrade my phone's software using it's onboard software updater it says "no update found" though my phone's software version is 5.51 . Then I tried to use software updater but it said I need a data cable. Then I bought a cable. I connected my phone and choosed nokia mode . Phone shows that it has been connected but pc shows nothing-no sound,no pop ups nothing. Then I opened nokia pc suite but it was showing "no phone connected." . I opened the get connected wizard and selected cable connection but it was showing please connect your phone though my phone was connected. I used different ports and found no problem with the ports . Then I tried to connect nokia 6500s and nokia 3110 classic. Nokia 6500 connects with no problem but 3110 classic has the same problem as 3500c (which has same mini connector socket like 3500c). I used three different data cables but no luck with none of them. How to solve this?

updating to new firmware depends on product code which represents your region of purchasing, language pack and if it's branded or not .... so NOKIA releases firmwares and release it for every product code depending on mentioned points

if your phone is branded with an operator, that means that you should go to the operator care center and ask them, not NOKIA
some updates delay in some countries variant product code, as it requires more effort to add language pack to it like "example. China Japan Korea" or it needs the country to approve it due to its policy

A friend got a Nokia 6280 as a gift from the UK, the phone is on 3 network. each time the phone is put on it asks for restriction code. I don't have the code and do not what code to use.
