Nokia 6280 firmware

high i have seen some people on these forums talking about the firmware of there phones and about the new v3.70 and i have v3.60 and i was wondering how i would update my firmware version thank you and im soory if this has already been asked

well got my phone back from 3 yesterday but its worse now than it was when I 1st sent it off, the phone now plays ringtones that arent on the phone....dunno how possible that is but I cant find them anywhere on the handset, it constantly changes the date, time and settings since the tinkering it had back at 3 h.q.
The thing that annoys me the most is, the fault hasnt been rectified in the process, the phone is still unstable and the slider(which was the original complaint) hasnt even been looked at
Now I have to take it to nokia service centre on saturday or part with my phone for a further 3 days, shocking service really, but wondered if anyone else had this problem with the latest version of firmware
thanks
Jo

I am not sure what the latest firmware is, but do not update to V6.10 using the Nokia Software Updater. It will brick your phone.

  • Nokia 6280 firmware Upgrade

    Hi, can anyone help?
Currently have V3.82 with code 0532255
This soft ware seems to have issues, just like the previous ones, that has resulted in it being returned and exchanged/"repaired" in excess of 8 times!!!
May sound excesive, but unlike some who are prepared to put up with a "few niggles" I am not as I am paying £30 a month for the use for this phone.
But here is the problem, Nokia do a v5.xx which runs smoothly with no issue and some extra features, ie flight mode and a user friendly mp3 player.
But the highest "authorised" version for my network supplier is only v3.82, so if I send it off via the network for "repair" it comes back the same.
Seems they are not interested in getting the latest firmware as it is an "old phone/design" so more interested in trying to get people to get a new phone with a new contract thus avoiding the issue!!!
Yet Nokia SC (or the one I used) say they can only load the firmware specific to my network.
So left with a phone with bugs that I can not get rid off?
Yet on one occasion the phone was returned/replaced with one that had the v5.x firmware on (whether that was due to a generic handset being set back etc no idea).
So I know v5.x firmware works with my network.
Unfortunatly had to send it back due to faulty screen caused by the ribbon connector internally scratching the screen (they tried to charge me for it saying it was my fault despite it happening on open and not being dropped etc!!).
Yet they replaced it with a phone with the older firmware version on
So please how can I get a firmware version that works with no bugs loaded???
As it seems Nokia are saying it is the Network providers issue as they can only load what they are authorised by them to load.
Yet The network are saying I have to go through Nokia as they are only contracted to supply the airtime, which there is no issue with (apart from not being able to access it due to faulty firmware/phone) and hence not their problem!!!
    So what do I do???
    Jon

Find a competent service centre would be my suggestion.
v5.92 is available for your product code (T-Mobile UK).

  • Nokia 6280 v6.43 standard applications

    Hi everybody!
I cancelled some standard applications from my Nokia 6280 (firmware 6.43): World Clock, Converter II and Snake III.
Where can I find and download them?
    Waiting to read from you!

The only way to get these apps back is to visit a care point and ask them to do a full reset and original firmware reload.
You won't find them legally available for download.

  • Firmware upgrade for Nokia 6280

I would like to know do we have firmware upgrade for Nokia 6280 as my present one is 3.65 and would like to upgrade it to 5.92 and I am in India
Could you please help me out.

updating to new firmware depends on product code which represents your region of purchasing, language pack and if it's branded or not .... so NOKIA releases firmwares and release it for every product code depending on mentioned points
you can check for updates @ :
    http://mea.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update
To find what the latest available device software is, you’ll need your device’s product code. The code is printed on the white label beneath the battery (e.g. CODE: 0520001).
if your phone is branded with an operator, that means that you should go to the operator care center and ask them, not NOKIA
some updates delay in some countries variant product code, as it requires more effort to add language pack to it like "example. China Japan Korea" or it needs the country to approve it due to its policy

  • Nokia 6280 failure restoring contact list using pc...

    Hello,
    I own a Nokia 6280. Firmware - v3.81
    OS: Win XP.
I took the phone to my local phone provider(partner orange, from which I bought the device) to update the phones version. This action has deleted my entire contact list.
Beforehand I made a backup using the pc suite back up feature, and the backup went smoothly. Now, when I try to restore my info using the restore function in the backup(content copier),it restores everything except the contact list. Somewhat in the middle of the resotration of the contact list, an error jumps saying the connection to the phone has been list. A few seconds later the connection restores automatically.
I tried solving the problem using this thread:
    http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&message.id=7746&view=...
    But it didnt quite work
What can I do to solve this problem? How can I restore my contacts?
And if not, Is there a way to convert the Backup NBU file into Outlook VCF format?
    Best regards,
    Uri

I've got my entire contact list on the backup file.
except notepad can't disipher the the names into english, and so cant hexedit's of their sort.
Example from the notepad of the backup file:
    BEGIN:VCARD
    VERSION:3.0 /*jibrish should be the nemes*/
    N;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE;CHARSET=UTF-8:׳’׳ ׳¢׳“;׳¨׳‘׳™׳ ׳ ;;;

    TEL;HOME:*phone number*

    TEL;WORK:*phone number*
    END:VCARD
note. *phone number* replaced by me for confidentiallity.

I tried to recover the phone as soon as I recieved it from the phone provider with the new v3.81. That is , the manufacturer's settings were the default. Unfortunantly that didn't work.

  • Nokia 6280 - Flight mode

    Hello,
In the User Manual for Nokia 6280, on page 59, it's written that this phone supports the Flight Mode.
    User Manual: http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_6280_UG_en.pdf
However, I don't see such a choice in my Profiles list. Can anybody suggest me how to enable it?
    Firmware version: 3.81.
Phone is bought from T-Mobile Germany.
    Thanks in advance,

At this time, you will have to take your handset to a local Nokia service centre/point.

  • Nokia 6280, a way to make it louder?

    Hi all
I have a nokia 6280 atm and I listen to alot of music with the headphones. The thing is, when im like stuck in traffic for example the music seems really quite. My mp3 player used to go mauch louder. I even set the volume on maximum. Is there any way to make it even louder or buy better headphones?
p.s. ive bought a headphone adapter so i can plug it into normal headphones but it still is pretty quiet compared to my old mp3 player

If you have firmware 5.92 or newer, you could try raising the equalisers up...although I dont understand how your audio volume is decreasing...mines loud..working fine...at least in my opinion.

  • Nokia 6280 backlight always on.

Hi i got a problem with my nokia 6280. The blacklight is always on. Even when i turn it off the black light stills on.Frimeware version is v06.43. any got any ide whate i could be?
Message Edited by effok88 on 26-Jan-2009 12:26 AM

the fact that the back light is on even with the phone turned off is disturbing. anyway, remove the battery, that should turn the backlight off, wait for few seconds and then replace the battery back, don't turn te phone on,  check to see if the backlight turns on again, if it did , then it's most propaly a hardware defect that should be checked by a nokia care point. if on the other hand the backlight stayed off, and the problem appeared only after you turned on the device for the first time, then i think you should reinstall your firmware and check again, if problem persisted after firmware reinstallation/update then take the phone to the nearest nokia care point.

  • Nokia 6280 crashed!!!!

I've been reading many of the problems associated with this mobile today in the hope of finding some help with the problem i have just encounted with my 6280 today.
My partner and i purchased 2 Nokia 6280's from Dialaphone and recieved them on saturday 25/03/06. Today sunday, i was browsing on Planet 3 and decided to download a video file to my mobile, having completed the download my mobile switched itself off!!
I've tried switching it back on but all i get is approximately 1 sec of the Nokia logo screen then the screen looks like a snow storm and goes blank, there's still a faint light on the screen with the keys lit but after 2-3 secs the mobile switches completely off. The mobile had just been charged so the problem isn't the battery, all was fine until downloading this video file off Planet 3.
If any of you guys on here could offer any suggestions as to the cause of the problem i'd be grateful.

I had 6280 on Three network since January this year, and it worked fine for a few month although there were a few problems which I thought were minor. The real problems started when it kept crashing, freezing and switching itself off! It happened mostly when I was:
    1. listening to music or radio
    2. switching between profiles
    3. logging onto planet 3 etc.
I finally dicided to act on this, and called Three, and they immediately said it was a software problem and would replace the phone, which they did. This happened in June. A new phone came with some improvements, and this was fine for a few weeks. Then, the same problems again. I was so annoyed, and called Three again. They then said they'll have to repair it and would credit my account with £10 for my inconvenience, which was quite nice of them I suppose. The phone came back repaired and I was very happy with it, till NOW! It started doing this same thing again! It just turns itself off even when on full battery. When this sort of things happen, the batter seems to lose its life, and although fully charged in the morning, by evening it'd be flat because I've had to keep turning it back on! It has been collected by Three for yet another repair, and we shall see what happens. The phone's firmware was v 03.70!
    Very frustrated...

  • Nokia 6280 Software Updater

Hi, this is my fist topic, so sorry if I'll say something wrong. I read about 5.x firmware for Nokia 6280 phone, but I can't find this firmware on the update page. My phone has firmware version 3.40. Tnk's Andrea

    Hi,
I have 5.92 on my phone. You'll need to take it to a nokia centre to get upgraded, until they can do it with the updater program that is. Presumably that won't be too long, the 6270 is listed now.
Incidentally, 5.92 seems a lot better than the other firmware. Though is by no means perfect, mine has been fine for a while and now refuses to turn on. Luckily, I'm geting a new contract starting tomorrow so get a new phone.

  • 6280 Firmware Update

    Hi All
I know it's probably an old problem, but I've been having more and more issues with my Nokia 6280 just recently, and it's beginning to bug me.
Bought my phone 16th June, 2006. Received a text message not long after asking me to take it in and have the new firmware installed. I did this, however, it has not fixed some of the problems, like it restarting while in Media Player. I went to the europe.nokia.com page, and put in my Product Code (0534874 - Nokia 6280 from Vodafone), and it lists the current firmware as 6.10 or something similar. When I use *#0000#, I have V 03.81, 09-05-06 RM-78.
I downloaded the Software Updater, plug my phone in and go through the wizard. It detects my phone is plugged in, but it cannot identify it.
Also, side issue: the down button has stopped working, all of a sudden. Nothing happened to the phone, it just doesn't work any more. Any ideas on that one??
    Many thanks for your help!!
    -Adam

    hi
