Nokia 6280 on Vodafone UK gprs connection problem

I have troubles connecting my PC to the nokia 6280 modem to browse on the web.
My nokia is WAPing properly but when I use the one touch access (PC suit)my PC cannot be connected to the mobile's modem. It asks my for a password and a user name.
Is it easy to get it? (I have a pay as you go Vodafone service)
Any ideas please?

  • GPRS Connection problem with Nokia 6230i

    Hi All,
I am using the GPRS activated Vodafone sim for Nokia 6230i.
I am not able to access the GPRS connection from my J2me application, it’s always shows me that "Subscribe GPRS first" but its already activated.
When i change the sim & checked with nokia N-72, my application started working fine & able to make the proper http communication.
    What could be the problem?
Do i need to do some extra settings for Nokia 6230i?
Is Nokia 6230i having some problem while accessing HttpCommunication ?
    Please suggest me.

Getting a gprs connection on series 40 phones is very difficult. You first need to create your own access point based on the gprs settings for the network you are using. You do this in settings -> Configuration -> Personal configuration settings -> add new
    I use the settings from
    http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
When you have entered in the data, press back and select preferred access point and select the one you created.
I think then you should be able to use gprs in your application
    I test with google maps

  • Nokia E60 USB to PC Suite connection problem

    Hello all,
one week ago I get Nokia E60. I tried to connect it to my PC via USB cable, that came with the phone. The PC and the phone didn’t find any connection. There was no indication on the PC that there is something connected to USB port, nor to the E60. I tried with other USB ports, which are on the motherboard. No change. Then I reinstall the PC Suite with latest version on the Nokia Web site. Again – no change. Then I tried with another PC, but the problem is the same. At last I had connection of E60 and the PC via Bluetooth and there was no, absolutely any problem. Establishing the connection took less than 20-30 seconds. For example when I try to use USB cable it “dies” for 5-10 minutes and nothing happens.
Please give me some advice what could be the problem. I have red all the FAQ’s on the site but they didn’t help me.
    Thanks in advance!!!

With USB connection you should get when you connect the cable to phone and PC some alternatives in the phone screen what type of connection you are wanting. Do you get that question in the phone side ? What are the alternatives visible and what do you choose as alternative ? (I don't have E60 but my guess is that it should give an alternative to choose "pc suite" among other alternatives ?) Only then PC Suite starts to load the cable drivers for PC Suite usage.
Also, if you check the device manager in your PC, how is the phone visible there, any unknown devices ?

  • Vodafone Spain and connection problem with Nokia E...

I have tried all Vodafone. Spain access points and the traffic does not go through. It does go through with Nokia old version of email setup. I have confirmed that the new nokia email messaging does not go through any of the 3G of Vodafone Spain when I used WIFI the syncronization went through.
any chance that Nokia can resolve this traffic block from Vodafone Spain. Either Vodafone Spain need to open new ports for this new software or setup the proxy to allow this traffic. Please advise or Nokia to release a new patch for Nokia email messaging for this problem.

We are currently investigating this very issue. I will post here when we know information, but this is a known problem that we're working on resolving. Thanks,

  • Nokia X6 - No 3g or GPRS connection

I have recently purchased the nokia x6. The first phone I received would connect to the internet via wifi however not through 3g or GPRS. I contacted both the shop I purchased it from and the service provider (Orange). Neither could fix it so I was given a replacement phone. With excitement I started it up and hey presto. It still wont connect via 3g or GPRS. I get the messages No gateway reply on 3g or connection timed out on GPRS. This is not signal related as I am in an orange £g area and now lots of people who can access orange 3g in this area. Orange also tell me that I am set up to use the 3g. Any other ideas what could be causing this? If its not fixed soon I will have no choice but to return the phone and resort back to the trusty iphone!!

this is either a setting on the phone that needs adjustment or an issue with orange which i would say is the most likely problem give them a call an be persistant with them
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Nokia Messaging 10.2.(26) Connection Problem

Hi, anybody noted that 10.2.(26) version never realease the connection used?
My phone is N97 mini, sync settings every 15 minutes, previous version 10.2.(2) always release the connection in use after sync, but with v26 the connection is always on, so it is killing my battery.
    Anyway to solve it?
    Regards.

    Yes, I agree with degsyh...
I can't understand how can this happened.... a bug reported in Feb, nothing done and then 5 month later rollout new version with the same bug !
Nowadays, all we listen is Quality, Efficiency, Client Focus, those kind of words, but at the end...
I wonder if at least, Nokia will give some feedback about these bug and will release a new version to correct the bug in the not so new version...
Ah and I know... in few hours some Moderator from Nokia will reply to my post (or deleted I don't know) saying "This is a end to end user forum, if you want contact Nokia you should ..... well we all know the words.
And just for finish, I found this "strange" survey info last night:
"The number of consumers considering buying a Nokia handset for their next phone has fallen 12%, according a survey conducted by YouGov. Only 34% of customers will consider getting a Nokia next time they get a phone, compared with six months ago when 46% of customers would have considered the manufacturer."
    Source:
    http://dailymobile.se/2010/07/13/only-34-of-customers-will-consider-getting-a-nokia-press-release/
I think it is not related with those type of situations, for sure!

  • Nokia X6 connection problem with ovi suite

I had recenly bought a nokia x6 16gb and I have connection problem with my ovie suite.I am using cable to connect to the pc.When I open my ovie store it says connect ur device under the ovie suit toolbar. And I connect it but it actually worked but it work for about 5sec and it auto dissconnected.I had tried reconnecting it but turn out the same. But when I am using my laptop and I connect it using Bluetooth it work (ONLY FOR TRANSFER SONG AND PHOTO).I cant update my phone software because I am using bluetooth.I also tried using cable to my laptop but it is same like how I connected to my pc.I am using Windows XP SP2(PC).Thank you for those who helped me and spending time reading it.(Reason=Because I wanna update my phone Software).Again Tks

    Hi PhoneNerdies,
Firstly, I recommend to update your Windows XP to Service pack 3. Nokia Ovi Suite do not support fully the XP with service pack 2.
Then use the latest Ovi Suite available, current version is 2.2.0.245 and available from Nokia.com and Ovi.com download pages. You Ovi Suite version you find from help menu and About the Ovi Suite tag.
Then update your X6 to the latest SW available.
After these steps your X6 would work fine.

  • Nokia 6280 problem transferring music from PC to P...

I am a bit of a novice when it comes to phones but I recently purchased a Nokia 6280. I have downloaded PC Suite version 6.82.22.0 and am using a CA-53 USB cable to connect my phone to my PC, however I am unable to download any tunes to my phone. I keep getting a message stating that there is insufficient memory on my phone. This I find hard to believe as it is a brand new phone with new memory card
I am using Windows XP, Build 2006, Service Pack 2.
I have checked the help page of PC suite and in relation to the Connectivity Cable Drivers it states "Not Installed"
    PC Connectivity Solution is 6.43.9.0
    Outlook version 11.0
    Build 8010
    Bluetooth Stack Version 5.1.2600
    Build 2180
I am also getting a message saying packet data connection not available when I try and access things such as the internet or vodaphone live for example. Can anyone assist me with either of these problems
    Many Thanks

I guess you have used the nokia website and arranged to receive wap/GPRS settings by text..haven't you?

  • Nokia 6700 USB cable connectivity problem -fixed-

Ok, got my 6700 today. Everything worked like a charm, until I tried to connect it to my PC using the supplied USB cable. I downloaded and installed the latest Nokia PC suite which supports this phone (7.1.30.9) and connected the phone. Vista was unable to install a driver, and the phone was listed in the device manager as 'unknown usb device'. The phone display reported 'no response from host' after plugging in the usb cable.
I searched online for a solution, and tried the following:
    - repaired the install of the Nokia connectivity cable driver: no success.
    - deinstalled the nokia pc suite, ran the pc suite cleaner, rebooted and reinstalled the pc suite: no success.
    - threw away the unknown usb device in the device manager and plugged the cable back in so that Vista would try to install the driver again: no success.
    - tried other USB slots (not behind HUB): no success.
At this point I was so frustrated that I decided to take out the supplied 1gb micro sd card and transfer some data to it using a card reader. When I looked in the root of the sd card, I noticed that there was an executable called pc-suite.exe there, among some other files. I decided to delete those files to see if they were causing the problems, I deleted the following files:
    - autorun.inf
    - launcher.exe
    - pc-suite.exe
    - qf
Replaced the micro sd card in the phone, plugged in the usb cable and voila: connection! Everything worked like a charm.
During my online search I noticed I wasn't the only one experiencing connectivity problems with the 6700. Maybe this fix will help other people as well, that's why I decided to post it here. ;-)
    Peter

Thanks Peter, nice job - same problem, your solution is working. Shame on Nokia - i have so many problems with E52, and now with 6700 - why ? Is it so difficult to make a reliable software ? So disappointed ... maybe Apple is the solution - but after 10 years with Nokia why change with Apple ?

  • Nokia 5233: log shows unwanted GPRS packet connect...

About two months ago I noticed, on the log, a big number of GPRS - Internet connections that happen at random times. I've seen them in the middle of the night (3:00-4:00 AM) or the day.
    Example log:
    Direction: OUT
    Type: GPRS
    Duration: 00:01:15
    Sent: 9Kb
    Received: 13Kb
Received/sent varies, up to 140Kb transfers.
This phone has no wifi or GPS, no 3G contract. I have installed GMail and Opera browser but set net connection not to be automatic, for those apps and for all others. Set app validation not to be automatic. I've gone over every network-related setting and set to 'manual' or ''after confirmation'. Packet data connection is 'When needed'. On SMS messages set the 'Dowload messages' to 'Manualy'.
I've scoured the net on this topic and read the whole manual to see how can I turn off/on internet connection but it seems it's not so easy, maybe create a 'dummy' Acces Point? I've checked all apps' settings and none can access the net unless confirmed. Can anyone point to a way or utility to check what application is making those GPRS connections? Would a soft/hard reset help stop this? Maybe even a virus checker?
    Thanks in advance!

No, no mail app anywhere already installed, and I haven't installed any third-party or Nokia one apart from GMail.
Today at around 13:35 it started again. While the connection was active I cheked on Menu: Settings: Connectivity: ConnectionManager to see if there was any info about it. Nothing, it doesn't show what app or process is using/initiating it. Two bursts of 16Kb and 29Kb. Cancelled the connection and still it tried another four times to re-connect!
Ended up putting phone on 'Offline' mode which killed the attempts; after a few minutes set it back to 'Normal' and it hasn't tried any shennanigans... so far.
This is really infuriating. Thanks for responding.

  • Nokia 6280 connectivity cable/PC Suite

hi! i have a new 6280 and have installed all PCSuite and cable drivers software and updates. i have a CA-53 cable. below are all the specs. i followed installation instructions correctly. when i get to the Get Connected setup window, i click "cable connection", then "next" and connect the phone and cable to the pc. nothing happens in this window, but i get a windows error message that says "the device has malfunctioned" and "windows doesn't recognise it."
after a minute or so, my phone sees it has a cable connected and i choose the default mode, but still the "Get Connected" setup window doesn't see it, and windows gives the same error message bubble as before.
i tried selecting the phone in PC Sync, but it doesn't find my phone.
i also check the settings for "cable connection" in the Connection Manager, but the configure button stays deactivated. i've tried rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling, but nothing works to continue with the setup. the only thing that seems to have worked is in "My Computer" i can see the Nokia Phone Browser and access that. but it only shows how to add a new contact or write a text message.
now i'm just wondering if i need to have my phone chip card activated, meaning that it's online and can make calls. well, it won't be activated for another week. is that what this is all about? if it is, it's not clear in the setup. it only states that this section of the setup is for connecting the phone to the computer, and no mention at all about connecting to the internet or my phone line provider.
all i want to do is continue the installation of the software and i want windows to recognise it.
i checked the help files and did as they say. the device manager has no listing of any nokia products - wireless or otherwise.
please can you tell me what to do? thanks.
    Operating system:
Microsoft Windows XP Build 2600 Service Pack 2
    Nokia PC Suite: Version 6.81.13.0
    Connectivity Cable Drivers: Version 6.81.1.2
Bluetooth stack: Microsoft Bluetooth stack Version 5.1.2600.2180

While phone connected to PC, right click My computer - manage - device manager and see if there are any unknwn yellow question mark devices. If yes, highlight it - right click - uninstall.
    Boot PC
Also battery boot your phone and run factory settings to it.
Now connect the phone again and see if it pops up the question about the USB mode right away (that is how it should work and not wait for a minute to appear.
I have 6280 and I tried to connect it without the SIM card and it connected normally. I also got the question in phone about the USB mode immediately.
But, I don't know is there a difference if you connect the phone to PC first time ever without a SIM
If it continues to be so that the USB mode does not pop up, I would consider taking the phone to a service center.

  • Themes Problem URGENT Nokia 6280

When chaging over themes. howcome the background to the main menu stays the same. this is very annoyin. i want to change this background but dont know how to do so. i have a green theme throughtout with a bright blue background at menu. can anyone help me with this?
    Its a Nokia 6280.
    On Three.

What kind of main menu view have you chosen? I have the same problem with my 6280 (v3.81) when I choose Tab view. Try to open the menu, go to the options -> main menu view and set it to List, for example. I have also created my own themes with Nokia Theme Studio (avaliable on www.forum.nokia.com) and I haven't found the way to remove that blue background in tab view... Regards, dHeaven

  • Nokia 9500 connection problems

    Hi,
I have a nokia 9500, and I am unable to synchronise my phone and pc via a USB cable. I am using the correct cable, and the latest version of the PC Suite is installed, as well as the cable drives but still, no joy. The pc picks up the phone when I plug the cable in, and reads it as "new hardware found Nokia 9500" but on trying to connect the two, the Nokia PC Sync window reports that it is "Not Connected".
The phone is switched on but the pc doesn't seem to recognise that there is a phone connected despite the USB connection detecting the phone.
    Any help would be great.

Is the problem you have related to "client is not responding"?
I received info from damn_delicious on Forum Nokia how to solve that.
    1. Unplug your phone from PC
    2. Remove battery
    3. Insert battery and start up phone.
    4. Go to Tools - Sync - press Menu - go to Tools menu - choose "reset PC sync profile" - exit
    5. Go to Tools - device manager - press Menu - go to Tools menu - choose "reset PC sync profile" - exit
    On the PC:
    1. Open "My computer" browse to C:\Documents and settings\*username*\application data\Nokia\PCSync\Syncdata - delete the folder with the long number (this is just your computer that remembers your phones sync settings)
Now you have deleted all sync settings in phone and the PC. Now try to connect the phone and then try again and see if it works ;-)
