Nokia 6280 Theme & Profile (PICK ONE ONLY)

I bought the phone for less than couple months, and I always found that the ringtone change back to default one. Definitely, not the one I saved within the profile. Nokia TRIED to fix mentioned problem twice for me (reinstall the firmware and change the mother board), but problem still exist.
Finally, I found out the root cause. Once you change the Theme, all changed setting within Profile will all set back to default. When I talked with the Customer Support hotline, she told me this is the design. Wonder if you can accept this as a "DESIGN" or "SOFTWARE BUG"?
If this is really a "DESIGN", can I say that Nokia design the phone which user can only change profile setting without applying any default Theme. Or if user always want to apply new theme, better not changing any setting within the profile.

but wait a minute, my sister's phone is 3230, and she doesnt face this problem at all... she adjusts both the profiles & the themes and each one doesnt affect the work of the other at all... what can you call that ?! Mobile halucinations !!!!!

Ok so I went through nokia 6111's in 3 months at the beginning of the year, and ended up with a Samsung for the remainder of my contract. I am now able to upgrade again in 3 weeks time, and am contemplating getting the Nokia 6280. The man at O2 I spoke to said that he hasnt heard of many problems with them recently, but I keep seeing the odd post about them pop up on here.
Are the majority of them behaving now or should I avoid it?
I want a smallish phone, preferably one that is a flip or slide phone (as it lives in my pocket and I dont want to keep pressing buttons) I love Nokia phones, but dont want to be let down again like I was last time.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Just a quick note, my N80 doesn't put a caps after full stops. You have to change to it.

I would like to know do we have firmware upgrade for Nokia 6280 as my present one is 3.65 and would like to upgrade it to 5.92 and I am in India

updating to new firmware depends on product code which represents your region of purchasing, language pack and if it's branded or not .... so NOKIA releases firmwares and release it for every product code depending on mentioned points

if your phone is branded with an operator, that means that you should go to the operator care center and ask them, not NOKIA
some updates delay in some countries variant product code, as it requires more effort to add language pack to it like "example. China Japan Korea" or it needs the country to approve it due to its policy

Not sure about the Nokia one, but there is a very simple theme creator available online at Zedge (free registration required); I managed to produce reasonably looking themes for my 6300 using it, although it only provides limited color selection for texts and no possibility to change icons.

OK, than the only possibility that I think of is to do software update, it's on nokia pages (http://www.nokia.com/A4176089). If you can't find any software updates, try to flash a new version of firmware

Notice how in the photo, I can't identify which MS office document I would like to switch too. Perhaps since the Dashboard and Desktop windows are at the top of my screen now Apple doesn't let you have all the applications take up the full screen and be sized individually so that you can have a better idea on what to pick.
I like the idea of grouping to an extent... If you have a bunch of random things it was hard for me to decifer between what was safari, chrome, or word. But now that they grouped them like this, if you have multiple pages of one program running, you can't switch between those pages easily like before.

If I wanted to open any of my Applework documents I had to open them one at a time and resave them with pages. This could take weeks.I have 1000s of apple work documents.
You don't have to open and re-save every AppleWorks document you have right now. Just wait till you need one, then do it. The documents aren't going anywhere.
Am I dealing with Microsoft? This was a BIG surprise to me that Apple would release an OS without testing all programs.
Frankly, it is not Apple's responsibility to ensure compatibiltiy with every piece of software available for OS X. That is the responsibility of the software vendor. Lion has been available to developers for several months before it's release, so Microtek had plenty of time to update their software. Yet they did not. How is that Apple's fault? I think Apple was very generous to give you a refund for Lion.

I realise you can you can delete them on your ipod slowly as you have to click on each one, and you can restore your ipod, but surely there is a way to get around this?

I want to bookmark a page I click star or right click. I pick bookmark menu as it has all my folders, however, my only "folder" options are the same five, even if I pick "choose" it doesn't give me ALL my folders to "choose" from, I've mess with this for a year now, the only way to get my page into a "folder" that I want but wasn't given the option in the "bookmark this page box" is to bookmark it (not in a folder-because I don't want the choices given to me) then go to "organize bookmarks", find page and drag it into the "folder" I wanted it to go in in the first place......I'm sooo frustrated, why can't ALL the folders you have show up and then pick one? Themes Problem URGENT Nokia 6280

When chaging over themes. howcome the background to the main menu stays the same. this is very annoyin. i want to change this background but dont know how to do so. i have a green theme throughtout with a bright blue background at menu. can anyone help me with this?

What kind of main menu view have you chosen? I have the same problem with my 6280 (v3.81) when I choose Tab view. Try to open the menu, go to the options -> main menu view and set it to List, for example. I have also created my own themes with Nokia Theme Studio (avaliable on www.forum.nokia.com) and I haven't found the way to remove that blue background in tab view... Regards, dHeaven

To get that much storage, you need to look to professional online services. Pro-level hosting accounts may offer you that much (well, many will offer as much storage as you are prepared to pay for), or Amazon professional cloud services. You could also store the files on a home machine and pay for a professional hosting service so you could stream them over your own account (assuming your ISP connection and agreement allows for the bandwidth used). You would still need to deal with the issue of finding an app for the iPad that supported avi streaming.

You need to contact the provider as they are the only ones that can unlock phones. Try looking at the unlocking topic for all related info.

Nokia 6280 - how do you get it offline?

I recently purchases a second hand Nokia 6280. According to the Quick Start Guide under Phone hints it says: "Offline Mode: in the Profiles menu is offline mode, which turns off the mobile network connection. Choose this mode to use your Nokia 6280 when normal phones must be switched off (on planes, for example)" I do not seem to have this offline mode as an option. I get the following options only: General, Silent, Meeting, Outdoor, My Style 1, My Style 2 and Lock Keypad. Anybody got any suggestions, or is the Guide simply wrong ? Cheers

You'd have to take it to a service centre for an update.
There is no guarantee you'll get 5.92 though as it depends if the handset is operartor/network branded or not.
