Nokia 6280 - V 5.92 Firmware - Manual Network Sele...

All,
I've just had this phone updated and noticed ive lost my Manual Network Selection Menu option.... any ideas !? This is the standard Nokia Firmware...
Appreciate any advice or suggestions...

Strange, I would take it back and ask them to check it out again.
Are you 100% sure that your 6280 was originally generic?
Just out of interest what is the 7 digit product code on the label under the battery?

  • Nokia E71 Manual Network selection Problems

    HI
I have the E71 on the Three network and it allows roaming in this country (something thats usually locked off) to avoid roaming charges I went to change the phones network select option from Automatic to manual, I get the usual pop up to select the network I want to connect to but when I go back to the network options screen it shows as automatic and does indeed allow roaming. How do I actually change to manual network selection.
    Cheers

I can't believe that Nokia have not resolved this problem.
The problem gives a direct influence on the cost of calls, which is very excessive.
I spent 3 hours on the phone to Three to try to resolve the problem and nothing worked. Tried removing sim card and putting it back in, factory reset and hard reset.
For a regular traveler this phone is a nightmare. Call charges can range from £0.25p to £1.50 and 0.12p to 0.25p. Also call charges may be applicable in the UK depending on your network provider.
Quite simply not fit for its purpose. A mobile phone by definition is "a hand-held mobile radiotelephone for use in an area divided into small sections, each with its own short-range transmitter/receiver provided by a specific network carrier".
Unfortunately the phone does not meet this definition. Under the Trade Descriptions Act of 1968 should be entitled to a refund as customers have been mislead by the sale of the handset. Also the phone directly misleads roaming customers.
Also under the Sale of Goods Act of 1979 the mobile phone should be "fit for purpose". Unfortunately the E71 is not fit for purpose as a mobile phone does not meet its definition and as a customer the network provider does not provide a fair service carried by the network. Most networks are contractually bound to do so.
If you have a problem with this phone please contact Nokia or your provider to try to resolve the problem and push the new firmware as soon as possible!

  • Firmware upgrade for Nokia 6280

I would like to know do we have firmware upgrade for Nokia 6280 as my present one is 3.65 and would like to upgrade it to 5.92 and I am in India
Could you please help me out.

updating to new firmware depends on product code which represents your region of purchasing, language pack and if it's branded or not .... so NOKIA releases firmwares and release it for every product code depending on mentioned points
you can check for updates @ :
    http://mea.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update
To find what the latest available device software is, you’ll need your device’s product code. The code is printed on the white label beneath the battery (e.g. CODE: 0520001).
if your phone is branded with an operator, that means that you should go to the operator care center and ask them, not NOKIA
some updates delay in some countries variant product code, as it requires more effort to add language pack to it like "example. China Japan Korea" or it needs the country to approve it due to its policy

  • Nokia 6280 Firmware versions.

Just wondering what version of the 6280 firmware T-Mobile users have? Whould be interesting as it appears they have the PTT option available, which is not available in my firmware
    Nokia 6280
    V03.60
    10-02-06
    RM-78

I am not sure what the latest firmware is, but do not update to V6.10 using the Nokia Software Updater. It will brick your phone.

  • Nokia 6280 - Flight mode

    Hello,
In the User Manual for Nokia 6280, on page 59, it's written that this phone supports the Flight Mode.
    User Manual: http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_6280_UG_en.pdf
However, I don't see such a choice in my Profiles list. Can anybody suggest me how to enable it?
    Firmware version: 3.81.
Phone is bought from T-Mobile Germany.
    Thanks in advance,
    Lau

At this time, you will have to take your handset to a local Nokia service centre/point.

  • Nokia 6280 crashed!!!!

I've been reading many of the problems associated with this mobile today in the hope of finding some help with the problem i have just encounted with my 6280 today.
My partner and i purchased 2 Nokia 6280's from Dialaphone and recieved them on saturday 25/03/06. Today sunday, i was browsing on Planet 3 and decided to download a video file to my mobile, having completed the download my mobile switched itself off!!
I've tried switching it back on but all i get is approximately 1 sec of the Nokia logo screen then the screen looks like a snow storm and goes blank, there's still a faint light on the screen with the keys lit but after 2-3 secs the mobile switches completely off. The mobile had just been charged so the problem isn't the battery, all was fine until downloading this video file off Planet 3.
If any of you guys on here could offer any suggestions as to the cause of the problem i'd be grateful.

I had 6280 on Three network since January this year, and it worked fine for a few month although there were a few problems which I thought were minor. The real problems started when it kept crashing, freezing and switching itself off! It happened mostly when I was:
    1. listening to music or radio
    2. switching between profiles
    3. logging onto planet 3 etc.
I finally dicided to act on this, and called Three, and they immediately said it was a software problem and would replace the phone, which they did. This happened in June. A new phone came with some improvements, and this was fine for a few weeks. Then, the same problems again. I was so annoyed, and called Three again. They then said they'll have to repair it and would credit my account with £10 for my inconvenience, which was quite nice of them I suppose. The phone came back repaired and I was very happy with it, till NOW! It started doing this same thing again! It just turns itself off even when on full battery. When this sort of things happen, the batter seems to lose its life, and although fully charged in the morning, by evening it'd be flat because I've had to keep turning it back on! It has been collected by Three for yet another repair, and we shall see what happens. The phone's firmware was v 03.70!
    Very frustrated...

  • Nokia 6280 problems (resetting), especially on '3'...

As per the request of a moderator (Karim) at the end of a different thread about the Nokia 6280, I am beginning a new thread here about the Nokia 6280 and problems people are encountering with it.
I was upgraded by my network operator '3' onto the Nokia 6280 phone, which arrived on Thursday 9th February 2006. This is a '3-branded' variant of the standard Nokia 6280, with a 3 logo on the front and back, and some 3-specific features in the software.
The phone looks great, and there are many good things about it, but there are some very weird bugs in the software:
    - The phone often resets itself (goes black, fast restarts) when changing profiles e.g. from 'General' to 'Silent'
    - When trying to change tones, the system seems to 'hang' after which no sound is produced from the phone OS (e.g. button presses, tone noises) until a hard reset is done
    - Various other bugs (not discovered by me, but mentioned by others in the previous thread) including text messages being interrupted half-way through, PIN request not being actioned even though activated, and media player issues.
My phone revision information is as follows:
    Nokia 6280
    V 03.36
    05-12-05
    RM-78
    (c) Nokia
    Language:
    V 03.36
    05-12-05
    RM-78
    (c) Nokia
    C
I am wondering about the following:
    - Does this phone support firmware updating?
    - If so, will Nokia provide a standard firmware update, or as my phone is a '3-variant' will I have to rely on 3 putting out a firmware update
    - Has anybody got any suggestions of how to proceed with this - I am within my 7 day return period, so could return it, but then I'd be without a phone and I'd prefer to keep the phone and have it fixed!
Anyone else with these issues, please join the thread, for clarity I suggest people include what network their phone is on, and the firmware revision of the phone. This can be discovered by tapping *#0000# on their phone.
    Thanks
    Floop

    Hi,
I upgraded my phone from 6630 to 6280 with 3 Network, three weeks ago. This is my third phone, and it's the same problem all over. After I transfer all my contacts and pictures etc via bluetooth, I tend to have a play around getting use to the new phone and without any warning the phone would just switch off. It would never switch on again. I tried recharging and leaving it overnight, nothing. Exactly the same thing happen to phone no.2 and no.3. Always when I just finished transferring contact details and pictures. I can't get it to switch on again. I am in the process of returning the 3rd 6280. I think I wouldn't bother with it.
I originally asked for N70, and 3 keep telling me that they don't have it in stock. The other options they have given me are Motorola V3X and LG 8330 which I'm not keen on really as I would prefer a Nokia phone.
Is this a known fault with 6280?. I will keep pressing 3 to give me the N70 or else. I am to the point of not bothering and just keep with my 6630.
Has anyone had the same problem?

  • I need restriction code For Nokia 6280

    Hello all,
A friend got a Nokia 6280 as a gift from the UK, the phone is on 3 network. each time the phone is put on it asks for restriction code. I don't have the code and do not what code to use.
Hoping to hear from you guys.

    Hi giggsonic
This has been discussed many times on this forum including the sticky thread at the top of this board..
    http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=hardware&message.id=69
Basically the restriction (sometimes called unlock) code would have to come from the original network.

You need to contact the provider as they are the only ones that can unlock phones. Try looking at the unlocking topic for all related info.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?
Life's too important to take seriously.

  • Nokia 6280 failure restoring contact list using pc...

    Hello,
    I own a Nokia 6280. Firmware - v3.81
    OS: Win XP.
I took the phone to my local phone provider(partner orange, from which I bought the device) to update the phones version. This action has deleted my entire contact list.
Beforehand I made a backup using the pc suite back up feature, and the backup went smoothly. Now, when I try to restore my info using the restore function in the backup(content copier),it restores everything except the contact list. Somewhat in the middle of the resotration of the contact list, an error jumps saying the connection to the phone has been list. A few seconds later the connection restores automatically.
I tried solving the problem using this thread:
    http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&message.id=7746&view=...
    But it didnt quite work
What can I do to solve this problem? How can I restore my contacts?
And if not, Is there a way to convert the Backup NBU file into Outlook VCF format?
    Best regards,
    Uri

I've got my entire contact list on the backup file.
except notepad can't disipher the the names into english, and so cant hexedit's of their sort.
Example from the notepad of the backup file:
    BEGIN:VCARD
    VERSION:3.0 /*jibrish should be the nemes*/
    N;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE;CHARSET=UTF-8:׳’׳ ׳¢׳“;׳¨׳‘׳™׳ ׳ ;;;
    TEL;VOICE:*phone number*
    TEL;HOME:*phone number*
    TEL;HOME:*phone number*
    TEL;HOME:*phone number*
    TEL;WORK:*phone number*
    END:VCARD
note. *phone number* replaced by me for confidentiallity.

I tried to recover the phone as soon as I recieved it from the phone provider with the new v3.81. That is , the manufacturer's settings were the default. Unfortunantly that didn't work.

  • X3-02 "roaming" manual network selection reverts

    Hi,
As the header states, I wish to lock my phone to the "roaming" network. The phone successfully connects to roaming for a few minutes, then frustratingly reverts to it's Home network automatically.
It can be seen that the menu option also reverts back to "Automatic" network selection.
    The conditions are as follows:
3G 'Three' 900Mhz - very poor reception that drops out
    3G 'Roaming' 850Mhz - perfect reception
Please advise how to make the manual selection stick.

  • Nokia 6280 delay in receiving msgs

Hi i have recently purchased a nokia 6280 on 3 network and i am experiencing delays in receiving msgs, e.g i receive a msg at say 1pm but when infact tht msg was sent 2 or 3 hours earlier. I believe this is somethin to do with being connceted to GPRS so i have tried altering the setting to 'when needed' but on the phone display the 'G symbol in a box' is still active. Does any1 hav a solution to this problem? Id b pleased to hear ur comments, thank you

Have a look at your clock settings. There is an option for setting the clock time zone for normal GMT, GMT+ & GMT-. Depending where you are, don't forget to allow for BST when you set it. Have a look and see which one the phone is set to, it maybe that your clock time is not set correctly to macth the GMT time zone.

  • Nokia 6280, lose of reception all of a sudden

    Hi,
a few months ago My nokia 6280 all of a sudden lost reception even though i live in a full reception area and always have full 4 bars. It lost it for 3 days and i thought it was a network fault, but when i took sim card out and put it in an old fone it worked fine.
tonight, it has done the same thing but this time, it loses reception completely, and then 2 mins later gets full again!, it is really annoying cos i cant make any fone calls or send txts. it just says error in connection
ive tried turning it on and off and takin battery and sim out, but no luck...
any ideas? and anyone experience the same?

    Hello there,
Don't worry i had the same problem for a whole week!
Ended up using my trusted Sony Ericsson W850i instead of my 6280.
What i did was i took the battery out for a whole day and it simply worked again. I don't know what the problem was but it may not be similar to yours.
