Nokia 6300 - charger in UK

I have a Nokia 6300 purchased in Toronto, Canada, and will be visiting England next week. My question is: do I need to buy a charger in the UK to charge the phone; or can I just use the North American charger I have and just use a plug adapter?

O2 phones contain very little branding which can be easily removed and are unlocked. The only branding that you cannot remove is an O2 splash screen when you switch the phone on.
Orange phones are heavily branded and usually replace nokia's nice active standby screen with their own awful orange home screen. They also have a splash screen. The are locked.
The # key problem is firmware related. Some sim free nokia's also have the problem. I think the firmware that orange use has the problem and O2's doesn't but this may have changed.

when i plug in my nokia charger, it says charger not supported, what shall i do, the charger works on my sisters nokia 6300 but not mine!!!

There is a little chip inside the phone that if it is faulty or damaged you get this message.
If it was sealed and brand new then i would put it down to a poorly manufactured handset.
The shop needs to take this back and replace it for you.

Look in the "Pool of Knowledge" board. The second topic there is "Recovering from a failed update".
If that doesn't work then you'll have to take the phone into a Nokia Care Point for repairs. The good news is, if the phone is under warranty, that the fix and the update will be free of charge.

  • Nokia 6300 security code

    hi,
can any one help me in finding default "call barring password"
i read the FAQ of nokila web site for model 6300 it says default security code for nokia 6300 is "12345" where as when i try to activate call barring service it asks for " barring password" and takes only 4 digits please help me in finding the call barring password thanks

    On a serious note.
If you have forgotten the code then you need to take it to a Nokia Care Point where they are able to remove it for you.
They will also remove all personal data stored on the phone at the same time as it needs completely erasing.
You will usually need a proof of purchase to prove the phone isnt stolen and you are trying to access it, and they will probably charge you for it as its not a warranty fault.
You can find the nearest NCP to you at the Store Locator

  • Help With A Question Regarding Nokia 6300

    Hi everyone,
Im usually quite good with mobiles in knowing what they do and dont accept kinda thing but ive found myself a little ticked off a Vodafone right now and im hoping one of you can answer my question please.
As soon as I had charged my phone up I contacted vodafone for the settings in order for me to browse the web on it.  Once I had done that, I had a look for a ringtone I wanted, bought it, waited for the text and when it arrived I went to that link (from vodafone live) and attempted to download it.   All I got was "download failed" twice.
The first time it happend, Vodafone refunded me and told me to wait at least 24 hours before attempted to buy it again which I did, I waited well over 24 hours.
I tried again and the same thing happened so I contacted them once more and just asked them to refund me once more and I just wont bother with it.  They wouldnt, they told me to check if it is compatible or not....im nearly 99.9999% sure this phone takes realtones.  Obviously I could be wrong and ill be embarrassed if it doesnt but could someone answer this and possibly explain why it might not be letting it download?
Ive had nokias before and the settings all seem to be in order, I deleted and moved some stuff to my memory card so im pretty sure there is enough memory.
    Thanks a million.

check here in the "digital services" part http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/devices/nokia-6300/technical-specifications it says true tones. this is it.
it might be Vodafone's network problem that gives you the  "download failed" message.

  • Nokia 6300 can not swich on, only blue lights on t...

    Hello,
I have left my nokia 6300 in the rain. After that I couldn't turn on my mobile. I left the phone to dry for a couple of weeks. It does nothing when you put it in the charger. When I put in my SIM-card, the lights on the side of the phone turn blue, but the phone doesn't swich on. The blue lights stay blue for approximately 2 minutes, then they slowly fade out. What does this mean?
    Greets,
    Peter

the only thing you can do in your situation is to take your phone to your local Nokia Care Centre for them to take a look at.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • Handsfree Connection on Nokia 6300

I have a Nokia 6300 phone and I am using the Bury Uni Take & Talk car kit but my phone will no longer connect handsfree. It is charging in the car kit but just won't work as handsfree, I have tried someone else's phone and it works okay so it must be my phone. Any suggestios

Ah I thought that might be the case as I've trawled through all the menus searching but wasnt sure if there might be something I'd missed. If I were to ring up my operator would that also block their phonecalls? As I dont really want them to know I'm blocking them. Thanks for your help.

  • Nokia 6300 Battry discarg within 1 t0 1:30 hourse

I have purchase New Nokia 6300 on 19 Th dec 2007 my battry discharg wthin 1 to 1:30 Hours talktime or 30 to 36 hours in stand by mode
2 how can check my battry is original or not by online and also my Nokia fhone

Did you charge the battery for 10-12 hours first time, then let it completely discharge before recharging? The times vary according to who gives the advice, but a long initial charge/discharge cycle helps to make sure that all cells in the battery are active. Sometimes, Nokia manuals advise an initial charge of 2-3 hours, but most independent sources recommend longer initial charges for all types of rechargeable batteries.
When charging normally, leave the phone on charge until the battery icon stops animating completely. If you take a phone off charge before this, even if the battery icon appears full chen you remove the AC power, it may still not be completely charged.
Also note that standby time does not include playing music and video files, having Bluetooth switched on, playing games (which keep the screen permanently active and generate sound) and a number of other factors concerned with phone functionality will affect battery performance.

  • BH-700 and BH-800 headsets for Nokia 6300

    Hi,
does anyone know what the main differences are between the BH-700 and BH-800 except for the price? Both headsets were recommended for the Nokia 6300 (in the manual and on the CD).
I checked out the descriptions but could't make sense of it.
    Thanks!

FWIW, I am using the N700 with the TBH BURY universal bluetooth car kit
    http://www.take-and-talk.co.uk/THB-Bury-Smart-Phone-Universal-Cradle-inc-Micro-USB-Charging-Lead-p-1...
and it seems to be working OK.
Of course, with the N700 having the power connector at the top instead of at the bottom, it is no longer possible to make a proper car holder which the phone just plugs into and is powered from. You have to connect a USB cable in this case.

  • Nokia 6300 In Car Issue

    Hi
First post here so go easy on me!
I've juts fitted a THB car kit for my new 6300. All wiring is chekced and double checked but whilst phone charges when in the cradle, it won't work through the kit itself.
Are there some settings that need to be altered on the phone itself that need to be altered to enable it to work through the kit.
    Thanks in advance
    Jon

The Bury cradle for Nokia 6300 is a bluetooth connection, make sure the blue wire is connected to ignition switch and you have paired the device, try reading the manual.

  • Nokia 6300 not switching on

I tried to switch on my ~Nokia 6300 the screen and music comes on but after a while the screen goes blank (white) then the phone switches off

My Nokia 6300 is becoming a nightmare.  It is actually my elderly mother's and she has just found that it is not turning ON.
1)I have changed the sim card and put mine in and it starts up, Nokia start up, then fades to black.  Turns off.
So changing the sim did not rectify the problem.
    2) I have tried charging it for long periods.  )note: the usb port for the charger is fragile, by that I mean 'not secure'.  I'm getting pretty cheesed off. )
This appears not to rectify the problem.
    3) I have searched google for forums and support for this problem and MANY posts about this problem with the Nokia 6300 but next to no solutions.
    4) The only Nokia Service Centre is in an outer suburb called Morley, Western Australia.
I know this as I have had to take other Nokia's there and am getting pretty tired of it.  (No after service or duty of care form the carriers ie. telstra etc)
CAN ANYONE FROM NOKIA INFORM ME WHY THIS NOKIA 6300, AND MANY OTHERS IT APPEARS, TURN THEMSELVES OFF AND WILL NOT RESTART.  IF THEY DO RESTART IT IS ONLY FOR ABOUT 6 SECONDS.
Very frustrated and would appreciated a positive response on a way forward.
It is looking pretty clear to me that Nokia is no longer on top of it's game.  Service is as important as the sale.

  • How can I delete an E-Mail account in Nokia 6300

I have setup an E-Mail account (e.g Gmail) on my Nokia 6300. I would like to delete this account which is no longer needed. I couldn’t find any delete option there. Before Nokia 6300, I have used Nokia E-50. It has a very simple option in Connect folder to delete or manage these E-mail accounts. Waiting for you response.

Simply enter the configurations menu from settings, go to personal config and the account should be listed there, select options and delete.
    Simple! :-)

  • Nokia 6300 Text Message Options

I own a Nokia 6300 which was Made in Hungary. It came with firmware revision version 5.00.
I only see 6 options in my Text Message Settings and nothing seems to resolve it. There's supposed to be 10 options. I contacted Nokia care centre and they suggested that I update the software which I did but to no avail.
I purchased my phone SIM free and completely unlocked. No provider touched my phone.
    1. Message Centres
    2. Msg. Centres in use
    3. E-mail Msg. Centres
    4. E-mail Centres in use (this option is
    greyed out)
    5. Use Packet Data
    6. Character support
    What should be there is:
    1 delivery reports
    2 message centres
    3 msg centre in use
    4 e-mail msg. centres
5 e-mail centre in use (greyed)
    6 message validity
    7 messages sent via
    8 use packet data
    9 character support
    10 rep. via same centre
'Delivery reports, Message Validity, Rep. via same centre and messages sent via' are all missing from mine.
I have reseted my phone on several occasions but it makes no difference in that department. I updated it to 5.50 and still no difference. I'm out of ideas. Can anybody out there suggest anything to me that I haven't already tried ?
    Thank you all.

    Hello,
    I've got the solution!!!
Okay - I spoke to Nokia - who advised me to speak to my SIM card provider (Orange). Orange said - 'This functionality is not supported by Orange on the 6300'.
But there is a way around this.
Borrow one of friends SIM cards (preferably a Vodafone) - insert the card, switch on the phone then go to the messaging menu:
Message Settings > Text Messages > Delivery Reports (set this to yes).
Then switch off the phone, stick your own SIM card back in the phone and switch it on.
If you now go back to the same menu - you will see that, there is no option to set Delivery Reports. However, when you now send a message - it will now indicate when a message is delivered.... JOB DONE :-)

  • URGENT!! Nokia 6300 issue please help

Hi, Basically I turned my Nokia 6300 off the other night and when I turned it back on it starts up as normal, However when I try to put my security code in and press OK it just freezes and wont let me into my phone. I havent forgotten my security code as I have used this code plenty of times so it must be a phone issue. Ive tried various ways for example: putting in a different sim or trying it without the sim or removing the battery etc but the problems the same!! Please can anyone help??
    thanks.

Have you tried removing the memory card too?
It sounds like the OS has become corrupted to me. I've had it happen on a 6233.
Unfortunately if this is the case there is no way for the user to recover it from this state. If it can't boot then it can't be reset or have it's firmware reloaded by the user. It can't even be backed up.
Your only option is to take the phone to a nokia care point and they can reload it's firmware. Sadly all of your info, files, programs will be wiped from the phone.
