Nokia 6300 help

Hi was wondering if anyone knows where i can find a graphic representation of the menus in the Nokia 6300. I have broken the screen and it is not worth getting it fixed. I would like to get some important numbers off the phone but neither blue tooth or data cable links are activated in the settings so my PC wont recognise the phone.

By important numbers you mean phone contacts?
Considering the menu can be personalised this could be confusing..
If your short cut keys havent been personalised i'd try this (kinda stupid, but will work)
Copy your Phone contacts yo your sim card...
(Make sure phone is unlocked)
Press Down
Press Left Blue
Press Centre
Press Up
Press Centre
(wait about 10secs)
Press Left Blue
Press Centre
Press Centre
Wait maybe 60secs or so to be sure
and all your contacts should be copied to your sim card

Nokia 6300 help needed urgently please

My friends 6300 phone has been trodden on by a large horse and has since stopped working - well it would really. But unfortunately she had not got the connectivity package for her laptop and had saved all the info on her phone rather than her sim. I have tried connecting it to my software but it comes up with USB device not recognised. My own 6300 and 6310 work fine so I know the Nokia pc suite is working fine. Is there any way we can get this info out she has phone numbers in there that she will never be able to get again.

i hear you, i have been in this situation many times, hence now almost neurotically i have several back up files, and online back up providers to keep my most prescious data safe. still does not change the fact that it is frustrating when things like this happen that noone couldhave predicted. hope you get it sorted out and be able to find this data in other ways.....

URGENT!! Nokia 6300 issue please help

Hi, Basically I turned my Nokia 6300 off the other night and when I turned it back on it starts up as normal, However when I try to put my security code in and press OK it just freezes and wont let me into my phone. I havent forgotten my security code as I have used this code plenty of times so it must be a phone issue. Ive tried various ways for example: putting in a different sim or trying it without the sim or removing the battery etc but the problems the same!! Please can anyone help??

Have you tried removing the memory card too?
It sounds like the OS has become corrupted to me. I've had it happen on a 6233.
Unfortunately if this is the case there is no way for the user to recover it from this state. If it can't boot then it can't be reset or have it's firmware reloaded by the user. It can't even be backed up.
Your only option is to take the phone to a nokia care point and they can reload it's firmware. Sadly all of your info, files, programs will be wiped from the phone.

Nokia 6300 - Data Recovery - Please Help !!!

I had been using the Nokia 6300 for the past 10 months and had encounter no problem at all. But do not know why, suddenly 2 days ago, the phone just suddenly freezed. I tried to turn off and turn on the phone, but I just can't enter into the menu. when the phone is turn on, only see the 'Nokia' wording, then the whole screen is just white and can only see the battery logo. It can't be turn off, need to remove the battery. I haven't back-up my contacts and smses yet, when this happen. Would like to know if anyone can help. I am really desperate now. All the contacts and smses are very important. Is there any way or method, that I can use, so that I can save the datas?

If the phone won't start up, all you can do is take it to a service centre for repair. If your phone is under warranty, then damage caused by something going wrong in software updater is covered as a free repair.

Nokia 6300 Broken Screen (can't see a thing) help ...

Hi guys.
I've got a Nokia 6300 and the screen broke the other day and I'm unable to see a thing. I can still use the phone though (blindly of course)
I'd like to transfer my numbers from my phone to my sim and to be able to do this without being to see.
So if someone could help me with shortcuts? I think I can press the menu key, then some numbers (am i right?) rather than up down etc etc.
Any help would be really really appreciated as i'm stuffed without a phone at the moment!

once in main menu, i cant just go to any sub menu by pressing a number key, i have to use directional pad to go to CONTACTS, in there, press UP, (go to the last selection)it's COPY CONTACTS, an other UP, it's MOVE CONTACTS,
choose either one, once in, you have two option, first: FROM PHONE TO SIM, 2nd: FROM SIM TO PHONE, if u select the first one, it asks : move contacts? press center to answer YES, and wait, it may takes a while, i did with 60 contacts, in about 20 seconds.
by default, in grid mode, the upper center icon is the contacts.

Help needed with nokia 6300 please

I have nokia 6300 , I have unstalled many programs on it (like messenger and google earth java files) some of them needs to connect to internet through gprs but they give a message "Subscribe to packet transfer first". But my device connects to web and opens pages through explorer.
Please if any can give help and thanks to all.........

Are you sure your connecting by gprs to the net, or by other means say WIFI or wap? There are many packet services & not all are provided by ISP unless one subscribe to it.

Nokia 6300, need help!

My phone isn't recognising my memory card, if I go through my gallery then it will have the things stored on the SIM, but the memory card isn't there.
It first happened when I had taken the memory card out of the phone for about 2 hours (exams) then I put it back in and it was gone. Since then it has been going and coming back and going and coming back etc. etc.
Can anyone help? Thanks.

There were a faulty batch of Nokia 6300's when they were first produced where some of them had this problem.
The problem in this batch, is that there is a chip missing from the PCB (printed circuit board), and if that is missing then the MMC doesn't always read.
If this is the case then there is nothing to do but to take it to a Nokia Care Point.
You can find the nearest NCP to you at the Store Locator
However, this may not be the problem, but i would still suggest taking it to an NCP to get it checked as it does sound sound like a MMC reader rather then anything that a software update or a change of MMC can fix.

Help with Nokia 6300

Could someone pls help in telling me how i can get pictures or wallpapers from my pc to my nokia 6300?
I manage to get music no problems using the nokia pc suite but have no idea how to get pics etc.
Any help is greatfully appreciated

open file manager in pc suite after you have connected your mobile to the computer.
then choose the files you want to shift to your phone, simply copy and paste them in the folder of your mobile you want.

Nokia 6300 Line 1 & 2 Help

I have a Nokia 6300 with a broken screen and I'm in need to change Line 1 & Line 2 settings but since I cannot visualize the screen, I'd appreciate it someone could post screenshots of how to get to the option so I can change it.
Unless someone knows of a way to visualize the phone settings on a computer screen (the Nokia Suite and Ovi Suite do not work for this purpose)
I'd greatly appreciate any help.

The line 1 & line 2 options not available for Nokia 6300. Atleast i couldn't find it on my set or in the user guide.

I have just tried to update my Nokia 6300 to the latest software, everything seemed ok till the screen went black and the software update just 'hung'!
I now cannot turn my phone on or anything! Can someone PLEASE help me out with this one?

Help With A Question Regarding Nokia 6300

Hi everyone,
Im usually quite good with mobiles in knowing what they do and dont accept kinda thing but ive found myself a little ticked off a Vodafone right now and im hoping one of you can answer my question please.
As soon as I had charged my phone up I contacted vodafone for the settings in order for me to browse the web on it. Once I had done that, I had a look for a ringtone I wanted, bought it, waited for the text and when it arrived I went to that link (from vodafone live) and attempted to download it. All I got was "download failed" twice.
The first time it happend, Vodafone refunded me and told me to wait at least 24 hours before attempted to buy it again which I did, I waited well over 24 hours.
I tried again and the same thing happened so I contacted them once more and just asked them to refund me once more and I just wont bother with it. They wouldnt, they told me to check if it is compatible or not....im nearly 99.9999% sure this phone takes realtones. Obviously I could be wrong and ill be embarrassed if it doesnt but could someone answer this and possibly explain why it might not be letting it download?
Ive had nokias before and the settings all seem to be in order, I deleted and moved some stuff to my memory card so im pretty sure there is enough memory.

it might be Vodafone's network problem that gives you the "download failed" message.

Nokia 6300 - Instant Messaging icon/functionality ...

Hi everybody,
I'm from Canada, and just bought a Nokia 6300 brand new a few days ago. This morning, I went on my phone to change the wallpaper, and for a second, the phone blinked and changed back to the default provider theme. I then changed back the wallpaper, but when I go into the menu, my instant messaging icon is not there anymore. Obviously, restarting the phone didn't solve the problem.
I don't know if anybody got this problem before. I've seen other functionalities missing like Calculator and Email and such, so maybe it's a software fault. Anyone can advise how to fix this problem? Is this a good phone or I just see the problems with it?
My firmware version is 4.71 28/02/2007.

It seems like your phones software has gone a bit corrupted. Please update it with the Nokia Software Updater. This should solve your problem, if not then you need to take the phone to a Nokia Service Center.

But i have a very big problem !!!
I dont found the "Chat" in "Messages" like the 6300 of my friends !!!
There is just in Messaging :

- Drafts
- Outbox
- Sent items
- Saved Items
- Delivery reports
- Voice messages
- Info messages
- Serv. commands
- Delete messages
- Messages settings
There is no "Chat" like the N 6300 of my friends !!!!!

According to my knowledge, Chat option isn't available on newer phones. Not even on my 6233, though it was available on my old 1100. If 6300s of your friends have it, it must be something firmware related. As you have the Live Postcard option, it must be a Vodafone phone. So may be in newer or older firmware versions, the chat option might be available. So check it with your operator. It never is anything Personal Configuration related unless this MESSENGER is a Java app. I think you mean that Chat is a main feature available in your messaging menu, not in a sub menu like Instant Messaging. Hope this helps.
