Nokia 6300 Lights

Hi All, please excuse me if I come across as stupid but I recieved my 6300 and i have two questions i hope someone can help with. Firstly is there any way to speed up the process at which the screen lights go off like on some other phones (to reduce battery usage), as it does seem to go take ages.
And secondly there are two lights (blue when lit) on side of the phone, are these supposed to light up? They seem to light up in all pictures i have seen of this phone but only light up very very briefly when i turn phone on. Is this just a advertising gimmick picture that i have seen.
Thanks in advance.

Seems a wierd way to go about it, but lowering time for keypad locking works to close screen light faster. Open settings/phone/automatic keyguard, turn that to on, then at the bottom to whatever delay you want and it shuts down screen quicker too.

heyy i think i have a problem with my 6300, usually the light switches off when i dont press any buttons for a while but when i charge it the light stays on. Is this a manufacturing problem or is there a setting that i can change so that the light switches off when charging>???

Hi if you go into -Menu - settings - Enhancements - Charger. You can change the setting to Automatic instead of on. That way it goes of after a few seconds.

    Hello,
I have left my nokia 6300 in the rain. After that I couldn't turn on my mobile. I left the phone to dry for a couple of weeks. It does nothing when you put it in the charger. When I put in my SIM-card, the lights on the side of the phone turn blue, but the phone doesn't swich on. The blue lights stay blue for approximately 2 minutes, then they slowly fade out. What does this mean?

the only thing you can do in your situation is to take your phone to your local Nokia Care Centre for them to take a look at.

  • Nokia 6300 - Blue Lights Always Faintly On ??

    Hi there
I have a nokia 6300 and I'm not sure what the deal is but when I lock the phone and it goes to sleep mode, the blue LED lights on the side are faintly/half on
    Why is this?

    Hi,
Not entirely sure about this but I think it is similar to N81/N96/5610 light function - does the blue led breatheThat's the term). It is normal for the led to breathe since it is mainly used as an indicator and for notifications - perhaps something used to beautify the phone?

  • Nokia 6300 blue flashing lights

For all the Nokia 6300 users troubled by the batt consumption due to blue flashing lights, the solution is go to settings-profiles(select ur current profile)-light effects-off.
    The lights wont disturb anymore.
Note- i'm reposting this info which i originally found after searching the forum. Info originally posted by tnhan(advanced sage).

D'you suppose it might be some sort of virus or probably if it's crash, it might be due to some 3rd party applications that might have been installed on the phone sometime?
    Definitely not.
Have you tried updating your phone?
Try updating your phone's firmware by clicking to this link below:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4579163
Make sure you meet the system requirements before proceeding and backup some of your important contents.
If the phone still does not show any improvement, I suggest you to send the phone to the Nokia Care Centre near you. It might need some sort of software reflashing.

  • 6300 lighting up randomly

My Nokia 6300 has started lighting up frequently without pressing any buttons on the phone. Yesterday, this caused the battery to drain completely from three-quarters, forcing the phone to switch off. Is there a way to fix this?
I updated my firmware last week.

this does randomly happen with s40 and s60 phones try factory reset but bare in mind when network signal drops the light comes on also when you get report from text you may have sent previously and report went through these are networt issues

  • How can I delete an E-Mail account in Nokia 6300

I have setup an E-Mail account (e.g Gmail) on my Nokia 6300. I would like to delete this account which is no longer needed. I couldn’t find any delete option there. Before Nokia 6300, I have used Nokia E-50. It has a very simple option in Connect folder to delete or manage these E-mail accounts. Waiting for you response.

Simply enter the configurations menu from settings, go to personal config and the account should be listed there, select options and delete.

  • Nokia 6300 Text Message Options

I own a Nokia 6300 which was Made in Hungary. It came with firmware revision version 5.00.
I only see 6 options in my Text Message Settings and nothing seems to resolve it. There's supposed to be 10 options. I contacted Nokia care centre and they suggested that I update the software which I did but to no avail.
I purchased my phone SIM free and completely unlocked. No provider touched my phone.
    1. Message Centres
    2. Msg. Centres in use
    3. E-mail Msg. Centres
    4. E-mail Centres in use (this option is
    greyed out)
    5. Use Packet Data
    6. Character support
    What should be there is:
    1 delivery reports
    2 message centres
    3 msg centre in use
    4 e-mail msg. centres
5 e-mail centre in use (greyed)
    6 message validity
    7 messages sent via
    8 use packet data
    9 character support
    10 rep. via same centre
'Delivery reports, Message Validity, Rep. via same centre and messages sent via' are all missing from mine.
I have reseted my phone on several occasions but it makes no difference in that department. I updated it to 5.50 and still no difference. I'm out of ideas. Can anybody out there suggest anything to me that I haven't already tried ?
    Thank you all.

    Hello,
    I've got the solution!!!
Okay - I spoke to Nokia - who advised me to speak to my SIM card provider (Orange). Orange said - 'This functionality is not supported by Orange on the 6300'.
But there is a way around this.
Borrow one of friends SIM cards (preferably a Vodafone) - insert the card, switch on the phone then go to the messaging menu:
Message Settings > Text Messages > Delivery Reports (set this to yes).
Then switch off the phone, stick your own SIM card back in the phone and switch it on.
If you now go back to the same menu - you will see that, there is no option to set Delivery Reports. However, when you now send a message - it will now indicate when a message is delivered.... JOB DONE :-)

  • URGENT!! Nokia 6300 issue please help

Hi, Basically I turned my Nokia 6300 off the other night and when I turned it back on it starts up as normal, However when I try to put my security code in and press OK it just freezes and wont let me into my phone. I havent forgotten my security code as I have used this code plenty of times so it must be a phone issue. Ive tried various ways for example: putting in a different sim or trying it without the sim or removing the battery etc but the problems the same!! Please can anyone help??
    thanks.

Have you tried removing the memory card too?
It sounds like the OS has become corrupted to me. I've had it happen on a 6233.
Unfortunately if this is the case there is no way for the user to recover it from this state. If it can't boot then it can't be reset or have it's firmware reloaded by the user. It can't even be backed up.
Your only option is to take the phone to a nokia care point and they can reload it's firmware. Sadly all of your info, files, programs will be wiped from the phone.

  • Events in iCal doubled after use of iSync and Nokia 6300

    Hi,
I’ve got a problem with the sync though iSync of the Nokia 6300 and iCal on my Mac – a problem which might be related to the imported phoneplugin – but I really don’t think so, as other users doesn't seem to have any problems with this phoneplugin:
    http://nokia6300.net/3/isync-and-nokia-6300
    The story goes like this:
During sync with iSync somehow over 505 of the events are doubled in both iCal on my PowerBook G4 with OS X 10.4. AND in the calender of Nokia 6300. If I sync three times an event is tripled in both iCal and phone etc. It seems like iCal doen’t want to obey the phone during sync – and I always use the phone as my primary source – as far as I know, anyway. iCal is thus used as a backup.
And there is another curious thing going on:
I’ve created my own calender in iCal. Even though I subscribe to Holidays and Weeknumbers in iCal, they are turn of during sync with iSync. But still they emerge in the calender of my Nokia 6300 after sync. As far as I can see, the setup is correct.
If anyone knows how to deal with these issues, I’d be must greatful, as deleting all these extra events in the phone and iCal after each sync is both rather irritating and terrible time consuming.

OK, I've found the answer. I've used the plugin found here (in my case the one for iSync 2.4):
    http://www.s60themes.co.uk/
    - and it works wonderful. Nokia 6300, iSync and iCal now plays together like a sweet dream!

  • Nokia 6300 error message when trying to connect to...

    Hello
I have owned a Nokia 6300 for several months and have been successfully backing up my phone book data etc via the PC Suite.
However I have attempted to connect recently and the software does not recognise the phone stating:
"There is a problem installing this hardware: Nokia 6300. An error occurred during the installation of the device. The name is already in use either as a service name or a service display name."
I have uninstalled the PC Suite but still get the same error.
I would be very grateful if anyone could assist please. Thanks
    Dave

If you are getting this kind of error:
"An error occurred in the installation of this device. The name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name."
Try this (instructions are closely based on Microsoft's similar instructions for some modems):
    1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    2. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
    3. In Device Manager, expand Wireless Communication Devices, uninstall all items related to your phone.
    4. Close Device Manager.
    5. Uninstall PC Suite AND PC Connectivity Solution AND especially Nokia USB drivers
    6. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
    7. On the General tab, click Diagnostic Startup - load basic devices and services only.
    8. Restart your computer.
    9. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    10. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services, and then look for registry
entries specific to your phone. In practise search for "Nokia" and delete all keys
where there are values something like "Nokia USB...".
Under same key there is path to some driver file, typically pointing to (C:\Windows\) system32/Drivers/nmw???.sys
Delete also those files from Drivers folder.
    11. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
    12. Click the Services tab, and then click to select each service check box.
    13. Restart your computer.
    14. Install PC Suite (including Connectivity Solution and USB drivers)
    15. Plug your phone - now Windows should found and install your drivers normally.
Remember: Use these instructions at Your Own Risk!
