Nokia 6300 opening back cover

Hi. One of my friends has just purchased a new Nokia 6300, and I've been trying to set it up for him. However, I am struggling at the first hurdle - I can't open the back cover. I have looked at the instruction manual and main website demo which shows pushing down around the 2 megapixel print on the cover and pushing down. This does not work.
I have also searched on Internet search engines which has turned up two other methods of opening the back, neither of which work.
The first was to press in further down the back cover at either side.
The second was to hold it in one hand and use the palm of the other hand to press it down and away from you.
Please can someone help me as to how to open the back cover of this phone

Well, it does get easier after you have removed and replaced the battery cover about 10 times or so. But it still takes more effort than most Nokias. The benefit is that the phone has a real solid feel.
My technique is just to grab the battery cover by either side and squeeze hard and pull down. It doesn't seem to move at all but if you look, there should be a barely perceptible very small gap at the seam between the cover and the camera part of the phone. A barely visible space that is just big enough to slide a finger nail in. Once you can get a finger nail in, it is easy to just do that and pull the cover 1/2 inch further down and then lift it off.
I really like the solid build on this phone, although I too initially had trouble getting the battery cover off.Message Edited by mongatu on 02-Dec-200710:36 AM

  • Water Damage - Opened Back Cover

I dropped my Iphone in the toilet a little while back. Waranty is overs since a month ago. I dryed my phone, removed the back panel to make sure the inside was dry. I'm stuck in a Error 1/Restore Iphone loop. I have lost the screws for my Iphone and I'm going to the Apple Store tommorow. Do you think I will be able to buy/exchange a refurbished phone anyway? I'm seriously freaking out here. I didn't touch anything else. I never jailbreaked the iphone.

Normal policy is they will not do an out-of-warranty replacement on iPhones that were opened by someone else and/or do not have all their parts. You said you do not have the screws. But again, you can ask as only the Apple employees can say for sure. But be ready to buy a new iPhone instead of an OOW service replacement.

  • Cannot get the back cover off 6300!!

    Hi people,
I know this must have been asked before.
I've certainly read it elsewhere on the internet and followed the instructions diligently to no avail.
I got the back cover to my 6300 off once but I can't seem to do it again.
I have slid and pushed and pulled and stroked until I think I am going to do serious damage to my hands which I cannot afford because I am a musician.
I have tried to cool the phone down, or jimmy it open... nothing works.
I just want to get the back cover off to put a memory card in and open the usb slot properly but I seriously cannot do it and all my family have tried too.
I bought it online, so I am reluctant to go to a shop and ask for help but at this rate I will have to.
Please offer any help you may have!!
    Thank you

    It should just slide off.
Sometimes it does need a little gentle persuasion but it should be quiet easy.
The cover slides downwards, press firmly in the middle of the back cover and push it downwards towards the bottom of the phone.
If you are still unable to do it, then you'll need to find someone to help.

  • Nokia 2600 classic - how do I get the back cover o...

I have just bought my first mobile phone ever, so am a complete novice; I have tried to follow the instructions to press the release button and take off the back cover to fit the battery, but I cannot get the cover to open.
The main question is, am I trying to open the phone at the right end - i.e. if the phone is face down, the end nearest to the loudspeaker?
I am loathe to use an implement on the phone in case I damage the case.
Any advice would be very welcome - I feel so stupid!
    Thank you.

nothing to be ashamed of, we all have problems with certain phones sometimes.
the back cover of the 2600 is quite big and covers the whole back side plus sides of the phone that's why it's difficult sometimes to remove.
the release button is located at the top of the device , with the phone facing down press on that button, remeber that the body of the button is actually part of the body and not of the cover and so performs as a latch.
while pressing hard enough on that button you can fell that the button goes in enough distance to clear the whole thickness of the back cover plastic. Now wedge your finger nail between the cover and the body anywhere at the top of the device, that should give you enough lift to release the upper part of the cover.
pull up and slightly backward to release the lower part of the cover.
for a diagramtic representation , please take alook at your user manual, available here:

    Instructions for opening case:
    1. Place handset in left hand (screen down)
    2. Place left thumb just under groove that comes from camera
    3. Place right thumb at the bottom of case so that the top of the thumb can press the button but bottom of thumb will push very bottom of case down.
    4. with both thumbs working together push down and up with right thumb and up with left thumb.
Case SHOULD click open, if the button has moved up inside the back case the plastic springs have bent or broken and the unit needs to go into a CNSP.

Hi, I just tried doing what you suggest but am not quite sure what groove you mean in respect of the groove that comes from the camera. From the side this phone looks like it is three layers and I am not sure which bit/s are supposed to slide anyway now. My button is now half pushed underneath the back of the 'back' but is still sort of moving up and down if pressed on, but I just cannot budge the back or what I think is the back in any way whatsoever. My thumb is short and I cannot push the button down and push the back with the same thumb! Unfortunately taking the phone to a shop is not an option and I need the phone for business for Monday. I am scared of breaking it by using force. Someone has mentioned a knack and a way of getting it off but has not said how apart from yourself.Message Edited by binarycape on 03-Mar-2007

Recntly i downloaded few games to my nokia 6300, its in the jar format, when i tried to open it, i get a promt as file format not supported, Please guide how to access n open a .jar file in my mobile ? ? ? ?

you can try to install it via pc suite.
.jar file usually come along with a .jad file which describe the installation info. If the phone support java application, the installation should start when the download is complete.

  • Contacts Back Up Nokia 6300 on PC Suite

I am having problems with PC Suite, I don't seem to be alone! I have had a look through some of the previous posts but can't get the following sorted.
I have made a back up of my contacts etc via PC Suite from my Nokia 6300. The problem is viewing the contacts via the file manager. It only shows 3 of the contacts out of over 100. All are saved to the phone not the SIM. I am therefore not able to confirm the back up is accurate, or edit any of the contacts on my PC. The three that are showing I added to this new phone the others are copied to the phone from SIM when I put it in the new phone but as far as I can see they are all stored on the phone in exactly the same way!
It seems to be a bit of a tempramental programme, I didn't have this problem with my Motorola using a different programme.
I am using Window XP SP2, version 6.83.14.1 of PC Suite and have tried conecting via a cable and bluetooth.

No you are not alone... In order to update the firmware to 7.118, I backed up my 6300 using PC Suite and now I cannot anymore restore all of its contents.
The restoration sequencially restores SMS, contacts, and phone settings. In my case the process stops with an error in the middle of my contacts, without resuming execution for the next contact or the phone settings. The failing contact is always the same. This contact has the particularity to have 2 address lines, so it might be that this special case is not supported by the restoration program... this is just speculation from my side, it can be anything else of course.
Anyway the consequence is that I have now half of my contacts and all of the phone settings left behind in the nbu file.
Appreciated the solution mentioned to use Outlook, but this won't save my settings, nor will save specificities of my contacts that are not compatible with Outlook.
Personally I am not sure this is related to this particular phone model (6300), but must be an issue of PC Suite itself (either the backup or the restore program).
Generally speaking backup and restoration should be the most robust (same level of reliability as the OS itself), otherwise we cannot count on them to execute other programs. Thus they must be simple, like copying files and must mainly rely on the OS. In this funny case, running the phone updater has been safer than the safety measures taken!

  • Nokia having problem in designing the back cover f...

did anybody noticed the difference of 5800xm between taking picture with the back cover and without the back cover?
i can only tell that, the picture taken with back cover is juz too **bleep**, while the picture taken without back cover is clear, vivid & nice...
before discovering this, i have heard of many people complaining about the picture quality of 5800xm. they were wandering whether the Carl Zeiss Optics on it is true or fake... and now, i know it's not the problem of the lens, but because of the back cover. it makes the LED flash to expanse to the bottom left corner of the camera, and thus making the picture with flash on looks like it's taken in the midst of the fog.
i hope Nokia would see this, and do something about it. at least design a better kind of back cover that can fix this problem for us to change. thxz...

what do u mean by "u tried and it worked"? was it mean that my experiment was true, and that the problem i mentioned happened to ur 5800xm as well?
it's ok if nokia didn't provide us the xenon flash on an Xpress Music series, Dual LED does take great image too. but at least design another good back cover for our beloved 5800xm. the Carl Zeiss Optics Lens is really good on it, and it takes good picture without the back cover...

  • Nokia 2730 back cover impossible to remove

I just bought this phone and have spent 20+mins trying to open the back cover. I did push down and slide downwards towards the bottom of the phone but it just won't move. Youtube videos show this being done seamlessly. What's wrong with my phone?

    Hi,
According to your description, seems the dutch language has already been set to the primary language, but the layout remains incorrect. I suggest you manually set the input method via
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Language\Advanced settings
Under "Override for default input method", choose the keyboard layout you'd like to be your default keyboard, and then tap or click
    Save. check the result.
Regarding to removing the English language,
You will not be able to remove your primary display language, set a different language as your primary display language first instead. (though you mentioned that you've set dutch as primary language, I type this here to make a
    confirmation)
Removing a language from your list does not uninstall its language pack. So you should uninstall it first before removing the language from your list.

Take it to a Nokia Shop and ask them to have a look at it. Perhaps they can replace it for you.

  • Macbook Pro only starts with back cover open

My macbook was not detecting it's internal hard drive and therefore wouldnt boot any OS. I carry my macbook with me often when im on my bicycle so I thought maybe an internal connection was loose.. so I opened it up and made sure everything was snug. I turned it on to make sure it worked and everything was fine -- --- until I screwed the back cover back in. It shows the same error now ( cant find my hard drive ). Why is this happening?? Would very much like to use my macbook without all its internals showing. If anyone could help me with this it would be really appreciated.
    --EDIT--
I loaded disk utility from the internet recovery option (which was my only option) and disk utility could not find anything besides the image that it was running on.

I would look very carefully to see if there is anything that seems to be 'hanging' when you orient the MBP in the correct direction.  Perhaps electrical tape in the right locations may be a temporary fix.  A genius bar visit is still the best option.
    Ciao.

  • Return U400 after opening the back cover.

I'm very dissapointed with Lenovo's product quality. I tried to open the back cover of my U400 and it didn't go very well. I followed the instructions exactly as mentioned on the official videos, taking every single step carefully. However, it's impossible to remove the bottom cover without breaking the plastic tabs. I have yet to hear from someone who has managed to do flawleslly.
Anyway, besides this, the battery life is nowhere near 7 hours as Lenovo claims. I can get maybe 4 tops if the screen brightness is turned all the way down, no apps runnig, and wifi radio and bluetooth turned off.
I haven't changed any internal components or anything. Would Lenovo accept this return?

Why did you try to open the back cover? It would be really difficult to get a return on the machine if you broke something.

  • Nokia Lumia 710 - Extra Back Cover

Is extra back cover came with lumia 710 now
Moderator's Note: Post was moved to the appropriate board. Subject was edited.

Friends I finally get a solution for it.
Take spirit or nail polish remover, take a small container, sink your mobile back panel fully (you might need 2 small bottles of that) and keep that for half an hour .Then you will notice that a very thin plastic layer will get apart from that panel .It is similer like a plastic cover on our exercise book.
I give some snapshots  of that   . Hope this will be helpful.
