Nokia 6300 - transferring data to new micro sd car...

I recently purchased a Nokia 6300 and I want to swap the supplied memory card for a 2gb Micro SD card.
I was hoping to just copy and paste the data from the standard card that came with the phone but when I tried this, some of the important applications and data did not copy.
I'm sure there's a simple solution!!
Any ideas please??

PC suite is not the right tool for this job. It's not designed to copy the contents of one card to another.
The easiest way to do it is to use a card reader on a pc. Place the old card in the reader making sure you can see hidden system files and copy it's entire contents to a folder on your computer.
Then place the new card in the reader and select all of your files in the folder that you created and copy them to the new card.

  • Problem With Nokia 6300 USB DATA CABLE OPTION Not ...

Hi, I have a Nokia 6300 v.5.00. My problem is when
I connect my phone using a mini usb cable to the pc, USB Data Cable option on my phone is not highlighted, so I can't use the pc suite mode functions etc. I tried 3 different computers with Windows XP SP3 and 3 different good quality mini usb cables but still to no avail. The options like data mode, nokia pc suite mode still doesn't seem to appear. I also tried different USB slots in these 3 computers still no luck. Can anybody tell me what's the problem? Is there something wrong with IC on my phone or something? What drivers do I need? This is my first time using the mini pop port on THIS phone, I've been using bluetooth to transfer files but it's so slow. Please help

  • Nokia 6300 - transferring sound files

    Hi,
I just bought a Nokia 6300 and pleased with it so far, but I am having a bit of trouble with getting sound files to be recognised. I have successfully transferred .aac and .mp3 sound files to the phone, but when I wish to select one of them as my ringtone the folder has a '?' next to it instead of the musical note symbol - meaning it is not recognised.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks very much.

Hello Echo. I have tried doing this but when attempting to select the item I am told 'format not supported'.
I have noticed that many items already on the memory card such as the games and other music pre-installed seem to work fine [with the musical note on the folder icon and no question mark], but I am having difficulty with my files.
Just to check - is it only MP3 and .AAC which is recognised by Nokia 6300? I also tried using the .WAV of my sound file and that didn't work either.
    Hope someone can help!

  • Transferring data to new (replacement) hard drive using time machine

My MacPro has crashed and after replacing the motherboard with no improvement, Apple thinks I will likely need a new hard drive. The cost of new drive and labor to install it is covered by Apple Care, but not for the technician to transfer to the new hard drive all the software data installed subsequent to purchase.
I have Time Machine on a second hard drive. Assuming that this drive is OK, can I transfer the data myself from Time Machine opened at a point before computer crashed?

Hi V.K., was just reading your instructions for jumper25 about transferring all info to a new HD and had a question. I am in the same situation where i have bought a new 320Gb to replace the OEM 120Gb in my MBP. Everything is very straight forward from what you have posted but i only have the original Tiger 10.4.9 install DVD and I am running Leopard 10.5.5. Will I be able to use my Tiger install disk and then use my TM back up even though it Leopard? Or will I need a Leopard install disk to complete? Also is there another way around this problem if i can not use the Tiger disk such as mirroring the 120Gb disk on to my 320Gb?
Thanks in advance for your time and expertise.

  • Transferring data to new Intel iMac

What is the most efficient way to move files, iTunes music, settings, etc. from my current G5 to a new Intel based iMac? I'm thinking external hard drive but I might be missing something.
    Thanks.

Yes, it will ask you if you have another Mac you would like to transfer data from - you will need a firewire cable. [Here's|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1554] some info from Apple.
    Hope this helps,

  • Black screen after transferring data to new Mac

I just migrated data to my new Mac from my old one using the Migration Assistant. The old Mac indicated the transfer was complete, but I can only see a black screen on the new Mac, even after turning it on and off.

The way the link in my last reply said:
    Starting up in Safe Mode
Follow these steps to start up into Safe Mode.
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be pressed as soon as possible after startup, but not before the startup sound.
Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.
After the Apple logo appears, it may take longer than usual to reach the login screen. This is because your computer is performing a directory check as part of Safe Mode.

  • Transfering data to new G5

Pardon my ignorance but - I have an iMac G3 and would like
to purchase a new G5 and I was wondering if I could simply
connect the two via the USB port and tranfer files from old to
    new.
    thanks for your help,
    Rick

    I would like to transfer OS 9 & OS X files &
applications from my iMac DV 400 to a G5. Before
connecting the two computers via firewire (both
computers have firewire ports), I would like to
ensure that the iMac (in use since 2000) is free of
viruses and other corrupted files/applications before
I connect it to my "pristine" new G5.
As I mentioned earlier, the new G5 asks you if you want to transfer files across. It does this within minutes of turning it on. It automatically loads your files and settings into the new mac so that you don't have to. It doesn't transfer any applications or fonts.
Is there any software out there that I could use on
the iMac to ensure/create a transfer of clean
uncorrupted material to the G5? I'm not a big fan of
    Norton Utilities.
If your stuff is corrupted it probably isn't working on the old mac so this is a bit irrelevant. Norton wouldn't uncorrupt a corrupt file anyway.
Also, do I need to re-install all my iMac
applications on the G5 or will transferring them
through filesharing have the same effect? I'm not
sure I still have all the disks available for a
    re-install.
Most apps will transfer OK but often their preferences and things they may have put in libraries do not transfer well. A reinstall is generally the best option.
I would like to continue to have an OS 9/OS X
environment on the G5, simply because I have so many
OS 9 files. How do I go about transferring each
environment? Should I create an OS 9 environment on
the G5 and transfer the OS 9 material and then switch
to OS X to transfer the OS X material?
As far as your new mac is concerned, a file is a file. It will transfer windows and linux files given the chance. So transfer the lot in OS X.
There's no such thing as an OS9 environment on a new mac - only Classic.
When you say OS9 files, do you mean files or apps? If an OS9 app is installed it will run should one of its native files be opened - however, if there is an OSX app that will open the file then it will generally start up instead and open it. (not always though!)
Say you have Appleworks 5 files, they will open in AW6 in X, 9 will not be offered as an option. Acrobat files will open in Preview, as will jPegs and various other image files.

  • Transferring data to new mac without old one

I am in Africa and planning to leave my laptop behind and buy a new one when I return to the US. I want to transfer music, pictures, and some documents on pages to my future mac. I currently have a mac notebook that is about 6 years old and I think the most recent software it has is snow leopard. I do not have a flash drive or external hard drive. I have wifi most of the time but it is ungodly slow and spotty. Is there a way to transfer the data without having both the old and new mac next to each other? I would also prefer to find a way that does not require a flash drive or external hard drive because I would have to ship it here and whether it would get here not broken, not stolen, and within two months before I leave is extremely questionable. Thanks for your help!

Taking out the hard drive is almost as easy as removing he battery! You'll need a small 00 Philips screwdriver and a T8 torx driver to remove the hard drive bracket. Here are instructions. http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Core+2+Duo+Hard+Drive+Replacement/514/1

  • Ideas for transfering data to new HD

I need more space than my 80GB HD currently has (I've used 75GB) so I took it down to the local Apple store to have them install a 250GB HD. When I went to pick it up, they said they installed a new operating system and pulled my information over section by section (ie music file, photo file, documents, etc.). What I had hoped for was basically a clone of my old HD so I could continue on as I had with just more space. This way they've moved data sounds like I won't have 3rd party applications, preferences, bookmarks, etc... a real pain to redo. So, they are trying today to do something different that they said would copy bit by bit but take 10 hours. I've used Carbon Copy Cloner to make backups and didn't realize this was going to be such a big deal. Does anyone have suggestions on how to best transfer data from one HD to another? Would it be better to go with the new operating system and start fresh? Thanks for any help!

    Hello,
You can achieve exactly what you want. In fact I did the same in around 3 hours to; clone my 60GB Powerbook hard-disk, install a new 120GB drive and clone back.
If they won't do it then purchase a Firewire External Hard Disk Enclosure (here's an example) and use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the 75GB drive over to the 250GB. The iMac will look and feel identical as it was before just with more free space.
You'll also have a 80GB external drive for back-up purposes.
I very much doubt it'll take ten hours for the transfer (Firewire is capable of up to 50MBps although you're unlikely to get this speed in practice it's not exactly slow. After all it can be left to run on it's own).
As far as I'm concerned this should have been part of the Hard Disk installation service.
    Good luck.

  • Problems transferring data to new Palm handheld

I made two changes at the same time that have resulted in losing most of my Palm data: 1) My computer was rebuilt to resolve several problems, 2) I hope to transfer my PDA data from my old m105 to a Tungsten E.
After the rebuild, the newer Tungsten PDA includes only calendar data, none of the contact or other info. I do not want to lose this data. Before the rebuild, the Palm files were backed up but the techie who did it says that the rest of the data is gone. I have until the batteries on my old PDA die to resolve this problem.  Can anyone help?
    Post relates to: Palm m105

Just to add that I don't understand why in the forums people always talk about superduper or carbon cloner, without mentioning LaCie's Silverkeeper. I'm sure the two mentioned must be good for peopel to mention them, but both are shareware. I bought a new external drive for my mini a few weeks ago, looked up "backup" in Versiontracker and ended up with the free download of Silverkeeper, like many thousands of others.
It gave me a bootable version of my hard drive in the external partition without any fuss or complicated to-do whatever, and every night now last thing I now backup my complete home folder which it zips through in less than a minute. What more could you want? And it's free!

  • Where can I find the critical iTunes files/settings -- transferring data to new HD

Hi -- I recently installed a new internal Seagate 1TB SSHD drive into my MBP 15" Late 2011 to replace the OEM 500GB internal HD.  Did a clean install with OS X Recovery.  So far so good.  But I didn't transfer over the iTunes settings + whatever files are the formats of the music I've imported into iTunes.   (due  to previous space constraints I took the actual mp3 files and put those on an external previously and just left the iTunes version of the files).
I should have all the relevant iTunes files on on backup drive -- that is I transferred all the system files to the external drive.
Would someone please let me know the names of the critical files for iTunes  -- I'd hate to have to start over and import the music and the cover art and all the rest of it!
Also if you could tell me where these files actually reside (i.e. what folders, etc).  Thanks!

  • Nokia 6133 - Transferring data with broken screen?

I clumsily dropped my phone last week and broke the screen. The phone is still operational, but the screen is totally worthless. I'm trying to copy my text messages and contacts from my broken phone to my new phone - but unfortunately neither were saved on the SIM card. The guy at the cell store plugged it into a reader, but it asks him to select settings for mass transfer, and since the screen is broken, he doesn't know which buttons to press or how to select the right settings.
Does anyone know what the correct key stroke combinations would be to copy the texts/contacts? Or know of somewhere I could find screen shots of the process? I'd love to be able to rescue my old info.
    Thanks!

I have this exact same problem!
Can anyone with the Nokia 6133 take pictures of the screens progressing towards the mass transfer option?  Or even just typing out a solution would be really helpful.  I would be eternally grateful.
    Thanks!

  • Transfering Data into New MacBook

I just got a new MacBook and I want to put all the stuff i had on my old iBook on this one, how can i do that?

The first time you turn on the MacBook, the Migration Assistant will appear and offer to move your data; the two machines must be connected with a FireWire cable to do this. More information about the Migration Assistant is available on this page.
