Nokia 6300 - Videos

Hi, I am old_phone, but a new user. I am about to retire my first, trusty phone, a Nokia 6300, and am appealing for knowledge on how to move my videos to my pc before I do. My first problem is I have never worked out how to use forums, and I can't find any instructions on this one on how or where to post my problem. I hope some one can reply with instructions on how I can get started asking my question.
thanks

@Old_phone on your Windows computer, does the Nokia Suite help?
Hi Abi99
Thanks for the suggestion, I did try.  I downloaded all my photos using Nokia suite and it seems to have downloaded the opening frame of each video as a jpeg, but did not recognise the format of the videos. No videos appeared in the gallery on my computer after the download,
When I look at the folder that my videos are stored in on my phone through my computer (bluetoothed) the files appears empty, and when I try to share the videos with my computer through bluetooth the connection fails.
I don't know what format the videos are when they are on the phone - maybe this information would help find a way to read or see them from the PC.

  • Moving contacts from nokia 6300 to Iphone 4

    hi,
sorry if I'm making a new discussion uneccessarily but I can't find an adequate solution on the internet at the moment, so any advice would be much appreciated. I'm trying to move my contacts from my nokia 6300 to my iphone 4. I'm running a pc on windows xp with the latest Itunes (11.1.3), Iphone has latest os.
I have used the nokia pc suite to 'syncronise' my contacts to my default windows address book so they are on my computer but I'm stuck on the second step from computer to Iphone. I was planning to plug in my Iphone and sync my contacts across by some button on under the 'info' tab in Itunes.. but itunes says 'your contacts are being synced with your Iphone over the air from Icloud. over-the-air settings can be changed on your Iphone'. my problem is that i am not using The Icloud, I've triple in my settings.
I was using this video on youtube for help but got stuck 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAuEeOGduHk' but got stuck at 0:45
any solutions for my specific problem or any completely different way would be more than helpful.
    thanks

Ok I managed it, so in case anyone else has a similar problem and sees this, here are the steps.
    1. In your Contacts section of the Nokia, Options>Mark>Mark All.
    2. Options>Manage>Phone to Memory Card.
    3. Now your memory card has your contacts in .vcf format.
    4. Connect via data cable to Macbook.
    5. Once the icon shows up (Takes 10-15 secs), open it and under Other, see the folder Contacts.
    6. Copy to desktop (or wherever)
    7. Disconnect data cable.
    8. Import into Address Book (Figure out how you wanna handle duplicates...merge, use old or use new) I chose Use New
    9. Plug in the Iphone, sync through Itunes.
    10. Done!

  • Nokia 6300 firmware wishlist

    Hello!
Let's give our suggestions for improving the Nokia 6300's firmware. Post feature requests, bugs and ergonomy issues.
    Contact list:
    * All the fields of a contact should be searchable (name, surname, phone number etc...)
    * The user should be able to hide groups in the contact list, as they are disturbing; in some cases, groups are only used to assign a specific ringtone to its contacts.
    * The change of a contact's name should reflect on the Call log and Inbox. Currently, the names displayed in the Inbox and Call log will remain the same, even after a contact's name has been changed in the contact list.

    1. when i try to play video clip (@176x144 resolution) on my nokia 6300 in full screen mode there are two white bars on the left & right side of the screen. Means the video doesn't fit to the screen. so please try to remove this problem on the next firmware update.
    2. please add brightness control in the next update.
    3. please add music player & radio themes.
    4. please add full screen web browser in the next update like nokia 5220.
    5. please add landscape mode and manual iso settings in the camera.
    6. remove maximum 1 mb jar size limitation.
    7. increase the video recording quality because its really poor & its a shame for a two mega pixel camera.
    8. increase the volume in the music player.
    9. add visualization in the music player.
    10. Add proxy address and proxy port in the access point settings for opera mini.

  • 6300 video playback dissapointment

I was given a new 6300 for my birthday and have just got round to swapping over from my old phone (SONY k750i), But im really dissapointed with the quality of the video playback. all the videos i had on my 750i played flawlessley, but in the much newer 6300 they appear all block and rough. The videos are in 3Gpp format. does the 6300 require a better format.

Hi, I too own both a 6300 and a K750i. The older SE phone has only a 220x176 pixel screen with 262,144 colour, the 6300 has a 240x320 screen with up to 16.7 million colours.
The increased pixellation may simply be caused by the increased resolution, on the 6300 you are more aware of the small inadequacies in the video because the larger, better quality screen is more sensitive to them. Even when not using landscape 'full screen' mode, the 6300 stretches the image over its full 240 horizontal pixels even through the 3GP format is usually 176 pixels wide.
Mobile video formats are not brilliant quality to begin with because they are heavily compressed formats to keep files sizes down. I have no major issues with playing files created by the cameras of the K750i and K800i in my Nokia 6300, my only issue is that of the three I find that the K800i is happy with more MP4 formats than the K750i and the 6300...

  • 6300 video error (unable to open file)

    hello
i am new to nokia phones
i got my new nokia 6300 and i used the same software that phone came with on CD to convert a video file (from .avi to .mp4)
when i try to play this clip on mobile it says "unable to open file" i tried many different videos but no luck
does anyone has this same problem?
i got Nokia pc suit ver 7.0.9.2
    and phone ver 07.00
    thanks

Sorry guys but 6300 does support 3gp and mp4. While the display is QVGA [320x240], the video NEEDS to be QCIF [176x144] pixel for 6300 to be able to play the video afaik.
PC Suite 7 is a little confusing than last version for me coz it does not indicate the video size or gives you the option to choose the size from the player.
You can check that it's set to convert when transferring files.
Nokia PC Suite, click settings > video conversion options set to always ask or convert automatically when copying to phones as opposed to do not convert.
Check also that if you're converting and transferring videos separately/manually, that you are sending the converted video and not the original video. Refresh the list. Hopefully, you wont need to reinstall the pc suite or use the older 6.++ ver.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6300
    Techie:
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/resources/documentation/series40.html
    From Wiki:
With the latest firmware version (currently 06.60, not available for some local models such as North American) Nokia 6300 is capable of smoothly playing MPEG-4 (*.mp4) files with a QCIF resolution (176*144) and a frame rate of up to 25 frames per second. The phone allows the user to view the video clips in full-screen landscape mode and set the fast-forward/rewind interval from a few seconds to minutes. Improved audio quality for music playback was also noted for this firmware version, thus making the Nokia 6300 a music phone similar to it's counterparts, the Nokia XpressMusic. In addition, video clips can replace ringtones so that an actual motion picture is shown while there is an incoming call.

  • Nokia 6300,Nokia 6234 & Nokia 6233.

Haiy guyz my name is Muhammad plz.. help me can any i who tell me that is Nokia 6300 suppourts 3GP Videos & 1 more hng my friendz told me tha tNokia 6300 is not gud regarding battery during talk contineoulsy getting hot & also due to its stainless steel so tell me wht shoul I do &also tell me wht is the difference between Nokia 6233 & Nokia 6234.Tell me also which Nokia is best Nokia 6233,Nokia 6234 or Nokia 6300.
I m waiting 4 ur reply plz.. help me.
    Thanks & Regards.
    Muhammad

The 6233 & 6234 have the following advantages over the 6300
    *Stereo speakers
    *3G Support
    *VGA Video recording
So they are the preffered device to use. If possible get a 6233 as the 6234 is a Vodafone branded 6233 and they tend to stuff up phones when they clog it up with their firmware.
    So your answer is 6233

  • Nokia 6300 Battry discarg within 1 t0 1:30 hourse

I have purchase New Nokia 6300 on 19 Th dec 2007 my battry discharg wthin 1 to 1:30 Hours talktime or 30 to 36 hours in stand by mode
2 how can check my battry is original or not by online and also my Nokia fhone

Did you charge the battery for 10-12 hours first time, then let it completely discharge before recharging? The times vary according to who gives the advice, but a long initial charge/discharge cycle helps to make sure that all cells in the battery are active. Sometimes, Nokia manuals advise an initial charge of 2-3 hours, but most independent sources recommend longer initial charges for all types of rechargeable batteries.
When charging normally, leave the phone on charge until the battery icon stops animating completely. If you take a phone off charge before this, even if the battery icon appears full chen you remove the AC power, it may still not be completely charged.
Also note that standby time does not include playing music and video files, having Bluetooth switched on, playing games (which keep the screen permanently active and generate sound) and a number of other factors concerned with phone functionality will affect battery performance.

  • 6300 video

i'm able to transfer music videos to my nokia 6300 using
nokia pc suite.... but it wont play as fone dont recognise format......... what can i do?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You must convert all video files you upload to 3GP format first. There is a freeware tool you can use to do this called 'Freez 3GP Video Converter' which you should be able to find and download easily with a Google search. This 3GP format is now the new mobile phone standard for videos. Make sure the video resolution is no greater than 176 x 144 before you convert, but most other settings can be varied. I prefer to convert the sound with the AAC setting (not the AMR).
It's worth remembering that you don't need to use the Nokia Suite to upload any files to your phone using Bluetooth. Just right click > send to > Bluetooth Device > Nokia6300 > send.
I've converted whole movies to 3GP format and uploaded them to my 6300 to watch in bed, with excellent results.Message Edited by formidible on 23-Sep-200706:05 PM

  • Nokia 6300 screaming like a smokealarm.

My nine days old Nokia 6300 started screming like a smokealarm in my ear, i am now deaf. Check out the video --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQwxUEvV5sI , i was making a call when i pressed the green button and putted the phone to my ear when this high pitched sound screamd me right in the ear(the volume was setted to 40%). I have sent the phone to Nokia(Sweden) to have it checked out. Can i get compensetion from Nokia?
Nokia 6230i, the best cellphone in the world.
Former owner of 52 different Nokia models.

The phone should be easily replaced - even if nokia has bad customer care.
But I swear to God.. If that ringing noise ever happen when I have my phone to my head, and it causes any kind of semi-permanent or chronic hearing loss (or the like).. Im gonna sue!
That’s the one thing that must NEVER happen to a phone. Physical damage is (and should always be) taken extremely serious. And I think nokia is in deep on this one.
And that’s just one aspect.. the other one being that they apparently are being pretty clumsy in their costumer care in your case just makes it all worse. I think you have great proof with your video. But perhaps it was not the smartest thing to do, if you uploaded the video before you talked to nokia..? In that case you've sort of backed them into a corner then Not wise if you want them to show you any sort of sympathy and compliance. And im not sure if they can actually sue you for uploading the video.. but in some weird corner of the law, I would imagine that they could.
Anyways.. I think they should fix your phone ASAP and hope that you do not sue. You should be getting a hearing test and the like (as other have mentioned), and if your hearing has actually been damaged, then you should take further action.
    Best of luck

  • How can I delete an E-Mail account in Nokia 6300

I have setup an E-Mail account (e.g Gmail) on my Nokia 6300. I would like to delete this account which is no longer needed. I couldn’t find any delete option there. Before Nokia 6300, I have used Nokia E-50. It has a very simple option in Connect folder to delete or manage these E-mail accounts. Waiting for you response.

Simply enter the configurations menu from settings, go to personal config and the account should be listed there, select options and delete.

  • Nokia 6300 Text Message Options

I own a Nokia 6300 which was Made in Hungary. It came with firmware revision version 5.00.
I only see 6 options in my Text Message Settings and nothing seems to resolve it. There's supposed to be 10 options. I contacted Nokia care centre and they suggested that I update the software which I did but to no avail.
I purchased my phone SIM free and completely unlocked. No provider touched my phone.
    1. Message Centres
    2. Msg. Centres in use
    3. E-mail Msg. Centres
    4. E-mail Centres in use (this option is
    greyed out)
    5. Use Packet Data
    6. Character support
    What should be there is:
    1 delivery reports
    2 message centres
    3 msg centre in use
    4 e-mail msg. centres
5 e-mail centre in use (greyed)
    6 message validity
    7 messages sent via
    8 use packet data
    9 character support
    10 rep. via same centre
'Delivery reports, Message Validity, Rep. via same centre and messages sent via' are all missing from mine.
I have reseted my phone on several occasions but it makes no difference in that department. I updated it to 5.50 and still no difference. I'm out of ideas. Can anybody out there suggest anything to me that I haven't already tried ?
    Thank you all.

    Hello,
    I've got the solution!!!
Okay - I spoke to Nokia - who advised me to speak to my SIM card provider (Orange). Orange said - 'This functionality is not supported by Orange on the 6300'.
But there is a way around this.
Borrow one of friends SIM cards (preferably a Vodafone) - insert the card, switch on the phone then go to the messaging menu:
Message Settings > Text Messages > Delivery Reports (set this to yes).
Then switch off the phone, stick your own SIM card back in the phone and switch it on.
If you now go back to the same menu - you will see that, there is no option to set Delivery Reports. However, when you now send a message - it will now indicate when a message is delivered.... JOB DONE :-)

  • URGENT!! Nokia 6300 issue please help

Hi, Basically I turned my Nokia 6300 off the other night and when I turned it back on it starts up as normal, However when I try to put my security code in and press OK it just freezes and wont let me into my phone. I havent forgotten my security code as I have used this code plenty of times so it must be a phone issue. Ive tried various ways for example: putting in a different sim or trying it without the sim or removing the battery etc but the problems the same!! Please can anyone help??
    thanks.

Have you tried removing the memory card too?
It sounds like the OS has become corrupted to me. I've had it happen on a 6233.
Unfortunately if this is the case there is no way for the user to recover it from this state. If it can't boot then it can't be reset or have it's firmware reloaded by the user. It can't even be backed up.
Your only option is to take the phone to a nokia care point and they can reload it's firmware. Sadly all of your info, files, programs will be wiped from the phone.
