Nokia 6303 /ovi suite contacts in outlook sync pro...

Hi
I am using ms outlook on windows xp and ovi suite.  The problem is that not all the information from outllok is passed to the phone.  Some addresses are left out and sometimes other info such as phone numbers or email address don't sync.  Some contacts are fine and there doesn't seem to be any consistancy to the problem.  Any ideas anyone.
Regards

I have N97 Mini and a lot of problems.Actually I wouldn't called it problems because there is no solution ever post by NOKIA support. This is really a nightmare that NOKIA COMPANY sold to the buyers along with phones we bought .I have 10 years of experience with NOKIA devices all of the models including the first Symbian 6600.Now the whole month I spent every day trying to handle this **bleep** od device and the biggest **bleep** OVI suite searching on hundreds of sites and forums but everywhere the same only bad no solution and NOKIA just giving new versions that means nothing for solving problems.
So XP Pro OS when i try to sync contacts  the most of the contacts I do but about 33 contacts reports Sync conflict and i have notes that those contacts has a photo of people next to number.
Also well known problem is with music, videos and photos. I have music stored in mass storage and what ever i tried i cannot reproduce the music from the device.I made playlists,library,...
The next thing I'll do, I will turn on my camera and say what I think of new NOKIA and OVI suite than I will throw N97 Mini hard on the floor and madly wade over device while it becomes a pile of  trash what is the real description of new generation touch screen and new OVI suite any version!

  • Ovi Suite is unable to sync calendar tasks with co...

    Hey there,
I found an very bad bug when syncing my N95 and the ovi suite 2.0.
Ovi Suite always crashes when syncing the calendar and I detected that my tasks like "Greet the new guy, over there" were cutted off on the first comma and re-added. So after 5 tries of syncing, I had one complete task and 5 tasks saying "Greet the new guy", without the rest. It was some work to delete these and now Im using the old sync-app from Nokia PC Suite again, which works fine. I hope this will be fixed, because this is the main reason which keeps me away from ovi suite.

PS: I'm syncing with Vista Calendar

    Hi,
Have you checked if your phone has got latest firmware? [My Nokia N95 has got 35.0.002    It may vary depending on your region/operator]  If your phone has got new firmware, update new firmware[Please do take backup of your phone contents]
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=topfaq&thread.id=132
Then Nokia OVI Suite too has got latest firmware 2.0.2.42, follow above instrucation from satari too,
then try to check your issue.  Hope this helps

  • Nokia 5800 and Ovi Suite Contacts Sync Changes Pic...

    Hi,
I have a Nokia 5800 and just installed the latest Nokia Ovi Suite (2.0).
It is a good tool, but I have a problem with the synching my contacts.
Befor Ovi sync, I use to associate pictures from my gallery with contacts. When I dial the contacts the picture of the contact took up most of the screen (until the contact answers the call - then it makes the picture small and puts it in the speech bubble)
After I sync'ed with Ovi Suite, the contact picture now shows up as a small - very small - thumbnail image during the call on the phone.
Is there something that can be done to protect this from happening, or a setting that can be changed in Ovi to use a large picture instead of a thumbnail?
My 5800 has the latest firmware installed (available to me in my country) - which is 31.0.101.
Thanks for the help in advance.

one more bump and then I give up on Ovi suite. Once again

  • Ovi Suite 3 Crashes when syncing contacts on N8

I've updated Ovi Suite and even rebooted my PC like it asks but when Ovi Suite gets about a third of the way through syncing the contacts it crashes:

Doesn't give much more info except for Debug/Close.
Does anyone have any solutions or clue as to what it will be doing at that point to crash it?

    Hi,
I guess there might be ccorruption while install, becasue calendar sync is supported. Please be informed that there is a new version of ovi suite i.e 3.0.0.290, with improved features and many bug fixes. Or you can download from www.nokia.com/ovisuite

  • OVi Suite is destroying OUTLOOK phone number form...

I have formatted my Outlook phone numbers the standard way +49 (yyy)xxxx. With Ovi Suite sync of contacts, the brackets are now removed from the phone. Since you cannot specify the sync direction the reformatted phone numbers are soon or later ending up in Outlook. The issue: I don't know which part of the number is area code and what is the number.  I had to retype all my 250 numbers using a 10 year old printout. This is not acceptable.
My OVI Suite is the current and called now Nokia Suite.
Best is to remove that stupid filter or allow for synch direction in OVI Suite.
Is there a solution that I have overlooked or do I have to install the old PC Suite in addition for syncing contacts?
I cannot not live with this issue.
    Best regards
    Michael

    Hi Hunchback,
why can't we just have a software switch or sync by directions as in PC Suite? As I said even when I do not touch my contacts in the phone I have all Outlook contact formatting removed . I have definitely not touched all contacts in the phone. I assume it happend when you reload backups on the notebook, reinstall Ovi Suite and then synch.
All my phones E72, N82, E61I and N8 can live with formatting.
    Best regards
    Michael

  • Warning: Ovi Suite Will Delete Outlook data

When syncing with Outlook, Ovi Suite will delete what you have in Outlook, if you delete it on the phone.
This happens even when you request no deletions to be done.
Recommendation:  Backup your Outlook PST file before sync'ing with Nokia.

    Success!!
Nokia Care came through for me!
    Pretty complex procedure though.
    Try this:
    1. Disconnect your phone from your computer.
    2. Go to Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel.
    3. Remove Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
        Remove Nokia Ovi Suite
        Remove PC Connectivity Solution
    4. Download and run Nokia PC Suite Cleaner from
    http://www.nokia.dk/produktsupport/download-software/pc-suite/how-to/nokia-pc-suite-cleaner
    5. Reboot
    6. Download latest version of OVI Suite from
    http://www.nokia.dk/produktsupport/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite/compatibility-and-download
    7. Turn off you AntiVirus/Spyware and Firewall(Including Windows Firewall is enabled) software before you start the install of OVI Suite- very important!!
    8. Reboot after installation of OVi Suite
    9. Do not start OVI Suite yet after reboot!
    10. Make sure your AV Software/firewall is not turned on.
    11. Connect your phone using your USB cable.
    12. The drivers should install without any problems. Takes a minute or so.
    13. Start OVI Suite after Windows reports that the installation was succesful.
    Everything should work now

  • Ovi Suite Crash during Calendar Sync

    Hi,
I previously used the latest PCSuite and Sync (7.1.40.1) to sync my calendar and contacts over Bluetooth.
I installed Ovi Suite 2.0.35. Contacts sync OK but Calendar sync crashes Ovi Suite. The complete environment details is:
    Nokia Ovi Suite 2.0.1.35

Same problem here... My installation does not even sync contacts, it just crashes after approximately 30-60 seconds of trying to sync. I'm using a Bluetooth connection, haven't really tried with a cable because I move alot with my phone and need it to  be hassle free (which Ovi Suite apparently is not).
I need the sync to work, because my everyday work depends on it, and it is totally unacceptable that the synchronisation does not work. I'm really irritated about this, why does Nokia have to roll out new program versions if the sync works in older version just fine? I've only quickly looked through the Ovi Suite, and it just seems to have a new user interface, and a broken sync functionality - what was the point of updating it anyway?
BTW: I did not find any option to "Automatically synchronise every 15 minutes when phone is connected" in the new Ovi Suite. The old PC Suite did have a drop down menu for selecting either "Off", "15 minutes", "30 minutes", etc. for the auto-sync interval. What's up with this? Or is the option just hidden somewhere within the new "cool" user interface?

My phone is a E51, and here are some characteristics that I picked out from browsing around it's menus. I don't know how to get more detailed information from the phone, maybe there's some kind of "#1*" key sequence that needs to be used?
    - 120 names in Contacts list (118 kilobytes, "10843... free" whatever that means)

    - Device Software: 200.34.36 (Up To Date)
    - Device memory: 106MB of 132MB is free
    - Memory Card: 1.63GB of 1.90GB is free
It seems that I'm gonna have to try uninstalling Nokia Ovi Suite and Nokia Ovi Suite Software Updater next from "Add/Remove Programs" and reinstalling PC Suite. Just have to check that it is still available from Nokia site... and then save the PC Suite installation file somewhere safe, and worship it as a holy relic to the end of times, and never-ever-ever update anything again after getting PC Suite and synchronisation to work once again...

  • Feedback from Nokia re Ovi Suite

Yesterday I posted two message on this discussion board which highlighted my dissatisfaction with Ovi Suite and my total frustration with the support offered from Nokia, one of them had a link to a survey.
Did Nokia respond to find out why I was to dissatisfied? No, they removed the posts.
To all those users who felt I disrepected them I apologise, but doesn't Nokia advertise this discussion board as somewhere where we the customers can share our comments & thoughts?
To Nokia I offer no apology, why? Because Ovi Suite is a let down, and I have tried to contact Careline, but guess what, you don' care!!
For Nokia the best way to deal with an unhappy customer is to silence them.

Why can't I sync with Gmail?
Why can't I sync with Lotus Notes like I could with PC Suite?
Why was PC Suite replace with Ovi (without same functionality)?
Is anything being done to fix Ovi Suite and give it better functionality?

  • Ovi Suite 2 - can you sync one way only?

In the old PC Suite, you could set it to automatically back-up all the photos on the phone to the PC. In OS2 this doesn't seem possible, all syncing (especially in this case - the photos) are both ways. Now I do NOT want all the photos on my PC on my phone, so...
...is there a way to set up one-way (Phone > PC) syncing on OS2?
    Cheers,

Started to grind to a halt until I hard reset it - still a lot slowly than my wife's iP4

Hi roz_n97. In Nokia Ovi Suite 2.0, photos are synced only one way from device to Nokia Ovi Suite photo library. Additionally, you can transfer your content from Nokia Ovi Suite photo library to device by drag'n'drop. Select photos that you want to get into your device and drag'n'drop those into device icon shown in Nokia Ovi Suite.
What comes to other content types, for example Notes, Contacts and Calendar - we're supporting two-way sync. We've vision, where your content is always available, in device, in Nokia Ovi Suite, in ovi.com, simple and effortless way. When we designed Nokia Ovi Suite, we noticed that current sync settings in Nokia PC Suite are pretty complex for end users and we wanted to give users simple way to keep content in sync.

  • N95 8GB: Ovi Suite hosing/truncating Outlook Conta...

I am very angry at the moment. I have realised that Ovi Suite has hosed my Outlook data and I have already spent a whole day (and probably many more to come) trying to recover the data.
    These are the problems:
Outlook Calendar Note fields get truncated, not consistently that I could find either (e.g. at a certain character length). It did seem to have a problem with any linked/shortcut attachments in there though (but there were very few of them). I wouldn't mind if this was just on the phone but it has screwed up this data IN OUTLOOK, the MASTER COPY!!
Ditto with Calendar items and Task items too.
For recurring Calendar and Task items, it also seems to spawn individual items for what would be each occurrence (and synchs all these back to Outlook too). I haven't had the nerve to check yet whether it actually deletes the original occurrences too.
As many people have said, it obviously appears that Nokia are rushing out, untested, sub-standard software that isn't even building on previous builds. My old NSeries PC Suite had LifeBlog and everything and worked absolutely fine. What was key to me in NSeries PC Suite was that there was a dedicated setting to say which end was the master and/or the direction of the Synch (I can't remember now). For me, I just said NEVER synch back to Outlook. Synch from Outlook to the phone, no problem, but NOT the other way.
Why did I allow the upgrade to Ovi Suite? Well, that was inadvertant. I upgraded from XP to Windows 7x64 and so had to reinstall all my apps...and got lumbered with Ovi Suite. It initially looked OK but I have since found these rather major flaws. I don't give a hoot about Ovi not working perfectly but I would at least expect that it did not royally screw up another app's data (aka Outlook). No problem with it screwing up its own data as my Nokia data is (ideally) a slave from data from my PC...but now my Outlook looks like it has been subject to a revolution.
I have also searched online for a version of my NSeries PC Suite that I could download as my original CD version was from 2008 and auto-looks up online for updates...and just finds Ovi Suite!!
So, I think I know the answer to this, but has anyone else found the same problems and, ideally a solution? Ideally, apart from the solution to just use bog-standard PC Suite, I would like to get the latest version of NSeries PC Suite that was the current release just before Ovi came out...or to get Ovi to only synch the one way.
I would tell you what the firmware version on my N95 8GB was but I am loathe to hook it up again (even though I have turned all synch off). I think it was 20.[something].
    This is my Ovi setup:
    Nokia Ovi Suite 2.1.0.87
    Nokia Photos 1.0.239.0
    PC Connectivity Solution 10.5.1.0
    Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.27.0

As a final note, I have been using Nokia since 1998 or so but this has left such a nasty taste in my mouth that, yes, I am almost certain to abscond to App*e (even though there are similar but far less serious problems with their synch software).
I really hate to do this as I have managed to work around all the Nokia software problems to date without much fuss. Most, of course, DESPITE Nokia, but this (one fistful of hair) did this camel's back break.

  • Nokia 2700 Ovi synchronize contacts settings

    hello all,
I have a new Nokia 2700 and I'm trying to synchronize the contacts from OVI account to this mobile.
In "Settings" -> "Configuration" -> "Personal config sett" I've added a "synchronisation" having the following settings:
     - account name: ovi
     - server address: https://sync.ovi.com/services/syncml
     - user name: ovi's login
     - password: ovi's password
     - contacts database: database address: ./contact/unfiled
     - use pref. access pt.: yes (it works for ovi store)
I go to "Menu" -> "Contacts" -> "Synchronise all" -> Synchronise data with Personal config.Ovi? Contacts -> Yes:
it says "Finalizing synchronisation" and after that: "Data transfer not possible"
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

    problem solved:
first, I had to put some money on my pre-paid sim
after this, it was impossible for me to login to www.ovi.com from the mobil device, because the upper right corner, where login button is, failed to be displayed.
so I logged in from my pc, added the new device and from this everything went great.
