Nokia 6600i and .sis file

I guys.
I should install a pdf reader on my 6600i. I has found two applications that are sis file both (One is Adobe reader for Nokia).
I has trasfered this file on my mobile phone, but when i try to install these files, one message was displayed: "Unsupported format file".
Anyone had the same problem?!?!
Best regards
PR

.sis,.sisx extension file works only on S60 smartphones, your phone is S40 phone which wont support those files though you can look for .jar or .jad files which your device supports

  • Does nokia 5230 supports .sis files??

    I just got this phone and I am new with symbians.. The thing is every time I put a sis file in my mobile.. It says "its not compatible with the phone". So even if I install it the file does not work...
    Actually, all the themes that I have found for 5230 are sis files and they r not supported...
    All the .jar files work just fine
    is there a solution?? Help!

    I've had literally dozens of themes from here, you need to join (but it's free and they're very friendly) never had a problem with them, best to download to computer and drag and drop to E/F then open with file manager on phone, ignore warnings  (I don't recommend things to people I haven't done to my own phones)

  • A q about Nokia 7610 and PDF Files

    i just bought a Nokia 7610 and tried to install Adobe Reader on my phone then when i tried to read a pdf file it did not show the file, it rendered the bits and encoding only. anyway can i read pdf files on Nokia 7610? if not then what phone can i use to read PDF files?

    Feels great to know that you're liking the new Nokia Asha OS. It is really a nice phone perfectly suited to its price
    Coming to your queries:
    1. I haven't yet played around with the 501 yet, but as per my experience with previous Asha phones, I'd say, Yes you can download the games again even after those 60 days end. Actually what happens is that the 60-days interval isn't connected to your Nokia Account or your IMEI and is instead stored on the phone itself. Resetting the phone to factory restarts that number again from 60 days. So its like a lifelong access to those free games. This could've changed with these new Ashas, but i highly doubt that
    Another way would be copy the games to memory card and let them stay there. They won't be affected if you reset the phone to factory.
    2. Nokia has kinda tried to unify the Asha OS so that they don't need to make differentiated software product files for each phone. So i think the device will receive updates for a long term. Including copy/paste or not will be a choice of Nokia anyways. So let's see if its implemented.

  • Nokia 5800 and word files

    How do I view word, exel and pdf files on the 5800.
    Chris

    These are the two that I know of, but they do not work with the 5800 YET!
    OfficeSuite5 is available as a free 30-day trial and then you have to buy. Viewing is difficult and editing is not available at all in this version.
    QuickOffice free version is great for viewing. Quickoffice Premier 6 will allow you to edit but is NOT compatible with the 5800 (just other S60 devices).
    I have not paid or tried to edit with either mentioned product.

  • Nokia 6600i and pc suit

    When i sync my 6600i with pc suit to outlook (Vista) it places meeting requests in at completely diferent times, usuly 9pm through to 2am.
    How do i rectify?

    Hi,
    Main difference is Contact and Message editors !!! With the help of Nokia PC Suite, you can edit your Contacts as well as you can send messages from pc when your phone is connected with the help of Nokia Communicatin Centre, which is not present as of now in Nokia NSeries/Nokia OVI Suite. This is the major difference.
    Then some applications like Image Store, Nokia Music Manager and File Manager(phone browser) are there in normal Nokia PC Suite whereas, Nokia OVI Suite has got stand alone applications like Nokia Music(replacement for Music manager in Nokia PC Suite), Home Media Server, Nokia Photos(Replacement for Nokia Lifeblog), etc are present in Nokia OVI Suite.
    Applications like NSeries Music Manager and NSeries Video Manager were not there in Nokia OVI Suite. NSeries PC Suite was almost replaced by Nokia OVI Suite nowadays !!!!
    Apart from this you can download stand alone applications like Nokia Map Loader, Nokia Software Updater(it will download along with both Nokia PC Suite as well as Nokia OVI Suite while installing), Nokia photos ....
    Applications like Content Copier, Nokia Application Installer, Nokia PC Sync are common to both Nokia PC Suite and Nokia OVI Suite.
    When it comes to user perspective, they feel Nokia PC Sync is much easier to use than Nokia OVI Suite's sync.

  • Nokia 5800 and Office File support?

    Hi there,
    Does nokia 5800 'tube' phone supports creation/reading/editing of Office files like .doc or excel files or ppt files. also does it support reading of PDF files.
    Nowhere in the phone's specifications it is mentioned.
    Can i buy some external application which does that?
    Please advise if someone has used it. I want to buy this phone but i struck between E71 or 5800.
    any suggestions?

    There is a great external application whcih is the only one that actually works on the 5800 whcih you can use - it is called OfficeSuite. You can find it here http://www.mobisystems.com/product.html?pid=277&l=1&p=15&i=1 I have been waiting for it for while and I was very happy when they released it on Sale
    You can download the trial and test it also.

    Documents saved through the OEL container type in Client Server are saved as serialised objects in the database - e.g. the thing the DB is not a binary copy of the document on disk, but a memory representation.
    WebUtil on the other hand - saves any file to the DB as a binary copy of the O/S file and likewise any file it pulls out will be an exact copy of what is in the DB.
    In the case of using WebUtil to pull out a document that was saved through an OLE container this will not work because the file on disk that WebUtil produces will not be the same as the source document.
    At some point we'll be writing a utility to de-serialise the OLE document that is Stored by OLE containers in a blob to restore them to file form on disk.
    You can of course do this manually by writing a Form (in 6i client server) which queries the blob into an OLE container and then uses OLE to call the Save method of the OLE server to pull the document onto disk.

  • N81 in notsuupotting sis files

    hi evry body
    i have a ammazing & fabulas Nokia n81 BUT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    N81 in not suupotting sis files
    and i don`t found the themes in jar extension
    HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

    nikhilk, you're not quite correct (or you're actually somewhat incorrect in your understanding of how things work).
    SIS files are Symbian installation system files (a package file that contains the actual application files to be installed, with installation "instructions" for the operating system).
    In the past they all used to be .sis files.
    As of Symbian OS v9 and later (and S60 3rd Edition and later) a lot of things changed, including the internal SIS file format.
    At the same time Symbian also introduced the file extension .sisx to denote, so called, signed Symbian 9 installation files.
    However, the file extension can still be .sis and it'll still work, if the content is proper Symbian 9 files, and the .sis file is signed. This, IMO, was Symbian's error; they should have enforced only one new extension.
    Anyway, whether the file extension is .sis or .sisx, they will install on the N81, if the .sis or .sisx file is signed by Symbian 9 signing tools, and it contains an application compiled for Symbian 9.
    And .sis files that contain applications intended for earlier Symbian versions (S60 2nd Edition, S60 1st Edition) will not install at all on the N81 (or any other S60 3rd Edition based device, or later).
    Check also the "Software installation" setting in the Options -> Settings menu of the "App.mgr" application on the phone. It must be set to "All".

  • Setup Document Preferences and save file to a certain location

    I am wanting to have a javascript button on my toolbar that will setup the following document properties....
    Embed page thumbnails
    Navigation tab: Pages Panel and Page
    Page Layout: Single Page
    Magnification: Fit Page
    Then save the file in the following format
    file.name(substring 0, 4) + "_PUB"
    Save the file to the following location on my computer
    T:\ Checking \ _PUB\
    Would appreciate some one helping me out with this!
    Thanks in advance!
    Windows 7 64 bit....
    Acrobat 8 Pro
    Acrobat 10 Pro

    OK so thank you for the direction guys! Here is what I ended up with.....
    In the following folder location:
    C:\Users\wolfecj\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0\JavaScripts
    I saved a file named:
    PUB and SIS file save.js
    Here is the code in that file:
    function savePUBAndSIS() {
    app.beginPriv();
    if(this.documentFileName.substring(8, 9) != "_"){
      this.saveAs("T:/Authors/Corey Wolfe/" + this.documentFileName.substring(0, 11) +'_PUB.pdf');
      this.saveAs("T:/Authors/Corey Wolfe/" + this.documentFileName.substring(0, 11) +'_SIS.pdf');
    else{
    console.println("T:/Authors/Corey Wolfe/" + this.documentFileName.substring(0, 8) +'-00_PUB.pdf');
    console.println("T:/Authors/Corey Wolfe/" + this.documentFileName.substring(0, 8) +'-00_SIS.pdf');
    app.endPriv();
    Then in the following folder location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\Javascripts
    I saved a file named:
    trustedSave.js
    Here is the code in that file:
    app.addMenuItem( {
    cName: "trustedSave",
    cUser: "Save PUB and SIS", cParent: "Tools",
    cExec: "savePUBAndSIS();", nPos: 0
    Now to execute my trusted function I go to the Tools menu and click on Save PUB and SIS
    Now I just need to figure out how to save my PUB file as a standard quality and my SIS file as a optimized for web view!
    Hope this helps someone out!

  • How to create a SIS file for Nokia Communicator 9210?

    Hello,
    I have written a J2ME application, tested it (yes, it functions), and pressed on button "Package" in KToolbar. As result, I got a *.JAD and *.JAR file. When I copy these files to the Nokia Communicator 9210 Handy, nothing happens when opening the files with the "File Manager". The Java Runtime is installed on the handy.
    I think, the Java application must be converted to a SIS file, but how to do it?
    CU NOPPY

    I found out the solution. No SIS file is needed. It is enough to send the *.JAR file to the communicator. Although Nokia 9210 already contains a Micro Java Runtime, you must install midpui, otherwise you can not start Java applications without using WAP or the Internet.
    Download midpui: MIDP_beta_sw_for 9210.sis
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/javaforum/main/1,35452,1_0_30_10,00.html
    After I installed midpui, I can see a new icon unter "Extras" called "midpui". When clicking on it, I can install *.JAR files from any directory. Afterwards I can see the Java programs in the application list of midpui, so I can execute them successfully.
    Greetings,

  • Nokia E75 does not support sis files

    I've been trying to upgrade the Ovi maps on my E75, because navigation has kept me saying that I need to renew the license. I went to Nokia web site and found out that I need to upgrade Ovi maps in order to get the free navigation. I have a 202.12.01 firmware and I installed it once again when I had unsuccessfully tried to upgrade Ovi maps. I have Ovi maps v3.01 09wk44b01 (MW OpenGL LM MN) and Map version 0.1.24.114 (OpenBitLM 6.22.5). I've deleted all old maps and started to download new ones successfully over Nokia Ovi Suite. I've downloaded Nokia Ovi Suite and followed the instructions for downloading and installing the newest version of Ovi maps application (I suppose it must be newer than the one I have on now, because navigation still wants me to buy license, I guess it must be 3.03 or higher). I've tried it several times from the scratch, just to make sure I did it right. Of course I've also chosen the right E75 phone from the drop down menu and I downloaded the file nokia_maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.2_lm_rom.sis. I double-clicked it and everything seems to be right, but when action on the phone should be required the installation guide says "Nokia E75 does not support sis files". From the sis file name I can only now see that I have this version already installed.
    Does this mean I can not use navigation for free on E75?
    Can anybody help me ASAP, because I need the navigation evey day very badly?

    I'v followed the directions of chanchan05 "Just uninstall the maps app, delete the folder and file I mentioned, then reboot your phone. Open the maps app, and it should recreate the qf file and cities folder in a version compatible to 3.03." on /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/Wasn-t-it-supposed-to-be-quot-Navigation-on-your-Nokia-Free/m-p/668305#M...
    Afterwards I installed the sis file you pointed me to and it worked. The maps on the phone were deleted, so I downloaded new ones over Nokia Ovi Suite and tried the navigation. Unfortunately it stills demands buying the licence for the navigation.
    I guess this is because the recommended sis file is v3.01 and not v3.03? Is that right?
    Any other solution?

  • Diffence of sis file and sisx file

    I just recently use nokia 6120c. I had try install the sis file into the phone but can't work out. Only the sisx file can work. Can anyone tell me got any software which can convert sis file to sisx file? Beside that, How to open jar file after store in the phone memory since it can't work after install. Thanks

    Actually, it is a bit more complicated than that.
    With Symbian operating system version 9 (and later), the installation file format was changed, as well as the actual executable/binary program file formats). And S60 3rd Edition based phones are based on Symbian OS v9.1 (and later).
    Symbian also invented a new file extension for digitally signed installation files, .sisx.
    S60 3rd Ed. also requires mandatory signing of the installation files.
    However, the actual file extension does not determine whether a file is really signed or unsigned. And unfortunately Symbian's tools when a file is signed, they leave them with the .sis extension, even if the recommendation is that signed files use .sisx and that is why you see both.
    Main thing, regardless of the extension being .sis or .sisx, you have to make sure that it is for S60 3rd Edition. As there are also earlier S60 versions using earlier Symbian OS versions, and those files are also .sis files, but will not install/work on S60 3rd Ed. devices.
    As Symbian changed the file format, they really should have also changed the file extension and made it mandatory. That would have saved people from a lot of confusion.

  • Nokia lumia 610 ringtone,and bluetooth file transf...

    i have nokia 610 and i have donwloaded a ringtone from marketplace i mean song and i want to set it as my ringtone
    what should i do in order to set that song as my ringing tone pls tell
    and more thing if i want to send any file to other mobile do i need a special software or anything like that
    thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Once you have downloaded and saved the new ringtone, you can set it as your ringtone by going to Settings>Ringtones&Sounds>Ringtone, Scroll to the top because this is where you will find all your downloaded ringtone. Just select the one you want to use.
    Your Lumia 610 does not support bluetooth file transfer for the moment. However, this feature will be added with the next WP7.8 update which is due soon. In the mean time you can transfer files to other phones by using Skydrive or by emailing.

  • Find and Save a SIS File

    I need to find a SIS file namely MapsBooster sif  for a widget i downloded from the Ovi Store .
    App shows as installed SIS in PC Suite but i am unable to find on phone  using x- browser and ybrowser .
    All i can find is MapsBooster .``dcf  file and any attempt to run/install this file tells me its locked .
    I am able to backup all my other installs bar this one .
    I have to contact OVI store everytime i want to reinstall after wiping the drive .
       jje

    Okay, just a word of warning before I continue: downloading the app from OVI is the preferred method. Onwards then:
    1. Turn off your phone
    2. Turn it on and close all applications
    3. Open a filemanager (any will do)
    4. Browse to E:\
    5. Open Ovi Store and select the application you want
    6. From now BE QUICK!!!
    7. Download the selected application
    8. Immediately after touching "Download" open the taskmanager (any will do) and switch to the filemanager
    9. Open the folder "Installs"
    10. Copy the file to somewhere else
    11. Done
    Normally the phone asks you if you want to install the application so you have enough time to copy that file but sometimes the application is installed without authorization. If this happens just deinstall and download it again.
    If you never find files in E:\Installs you should check your settings in Ovi Store. Open it and select "Options", scroll down to "Account" and select "Settings", then select "Installation Settings". Now you can see (and change) where the downloads are temporarily saved. Change the drive or use the shown one instead of E: mentioned in the guide above.
    There are some file extension used but all are work.. Ovi Store does nothing more than download the file to your device, start the installation and delete the downloaded file after installation is done, thus all files downloaded are useable.
    Usable file extensions: .sis, .sisx, .dm, .wgz (there might be more).
    Good luck.

  • Jad and jar files downloaded via nokia suite. When...

    Hi,   I have downloaded battery accelerator using nokia suite ,but when i click on it , it asks me to go to nokiappwiz site reference. Then if i further clicks it is going......and going. When i browsed, i found jar and jad file for this application. Is there any solution, how to apply this app.

    Hi,
    first,you must add the following two lines to Apache mime types:
    text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor jad
    application/java-archive           jar
    second,you must specify the absolute address of your jar file in the MIDlet-Jar-URL which in the jad file,such as:
    MIDlet-Jar-URL: IP/game.jar
