Nokia 6630 Supported ringtones

Just a quick question.
I have found that when I try to select a mp3 track for a ringtone I get a message saying that the format is not supported.
My phone previously let me select them for ringtones but now won't.
Any information will be appreciated.

That maybe just a settings issue? The N70 has the following option sometimes set by default.
Menu > Tools > Manager > Options > Settings > Software Installation (and Online certif. check)
Software Installation needs to be on whilst Online certif. check needs to be off.
Is the 6630 similar? If not then as you say, it could be a network restriction issue.

  • Nokia 6630 mp3 ringtone problem

I have Nokia 6630 vodaphone unlock, I am unable to set MP3 as ringtone.
    Can same one help me.
    Thanks,
    Tahir

You have to convert it to some other format first (with, e.g., PC Suite from http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite).
That is because Vodafone has disabled the use of MP3's as ringtones on their branded 6630 phones. Presumably they did it so that people would rather buy ringtones from their site rather than using their own music, etc.
Unbranded/retail 6630 phones do not have this restriction (and probably not those by other operators than Vodafone, either).

  • Nokia 6630 - downloading ringtones

    Hi,
Hope I don't sound like too much of an idiot here, but getting a bit desperate. I've downloaded a couple of ringtones and I can't findt them. Where should they be?
    Many thanks
    Jane

ha ha ha, was that a 'dig' at orange?! if you dont know how to use pc suite (or your phone) yet, why dont you buy (or borrow) a card reader? that way you can literally 'drag and drop' mp3s straight onto your memory card, bang it into your phone and youre away.
im sure if you search the net, you'll find a download site where you could get a copy of the tune you want, theres enough of them about
youve got my mind wondering now... what tune are you trying to get? PM me if your too ASHAMED to post it openly! ha ha ha

  • Nokia 6630 - Nokia PC Suite Support Update

Hi to everyone out there to help me,
Few weeks ago, I updated my phone software and after that, I found out that I could view old messages and send new ones from my pc. I loved that feature, but didn't use it often. As I wanted to use it again today, I couldn't... I can view my contacts, calender entries, but cannot view my messages. I can send new ones though...
An error occurs as I connect my phone to my pc (via cable), which I had beforehand too I guess. It's not English, so I will translate it myself:
    "Nokia PC Suite
In order to make your phone support new features, the PC Suite support on your phone has to be updated.
Would you like to update the PC Suite support on your cell phone (Nokia 6630)?"
    - I click on the green tick.
A quick dissapearing window pops up... It's hard to tell what appears even on my own language xD:
    "Installing...
Accept all upcoming approvals on your phone"
Then in 1-2 seconds the message changes into:
     "PC Suite support installation failed"
    - I click on the green tick, the only option.
Well, as I said before, besides that I am unsure, this problem existed beforehand, and I could view my messages even like that.
I tried repairing the Nokia PC Suite, after I send this message I will uninstall and install it once... I will update the situation...

    Nokia 6630 (RM-1)
    Firmware version
    Current: 5.03.08
Update (as of date above): 5.03.08
    Nokia Software Updater ver: 2.6.6en
    Connection via Nokia DKU-2 USB
I have exactly same problem as you described:
    PC Suite (7.1.51.0)
    message box displays:
The PC Suite support installed on your phone must be updatedto support new features.
Do you want to udpadte PC Suite support on your cell phone (Nokia 6630)?
    [green tick <yes> ] [red X <no>  ]
    InstalLing
[Accept all possible installation requests on your phone
    PC Suite support installation failed
    < green tick > ]
As this goes on a banner momentarilydisplays on the phone, it is an Icon and the name "INSTALLER"
    this  happens twice
    then finally,
    PC Suite support instalation failed
    On the phone i see:
       Tools->Manager-->
            (App. Manager)
             PC_Suite_Sup (70kb)
             Version 1.7.0
On its status, it says it is NOT INSTALLED
So I select the option to install it but when I view the details again its status still says NOT INSTALLED.
I go on and Select REMOVE and it is dutifully removed from the list.
I coldboot the phone and upon verifying that it is not on the app manager list. I restart PC Suite and go through the procedures above (Install PC Suite support) and again it ends up with pc suite installation failed.
Checking on the appmanager, it reappears on the list. but it is NOT INSTALLED as per its status.
I'm thinking perhaps if there was an app (PC SUITE SUPPORT) i can download and install via PC SUite then perhaps that would solve the problem, but I've grown weary (leary?) of trawling Nokia's site(s) for it as I've ended up with zilch thus far.
Any one out there that can help? Someone from Nokia would be nice ...
Ihope i get notification of replies ...

  • Problems with the "comm" protocol on Nokia 6630

    Hello,
I am trying to write a simple MIDlet for my Nokia 6630 phone using the "comm" protocol. The problem is that System.getProperty( "microedition.commports" ) returns "null" and when I call Connector.open( "comm:0;baudrate=9000" ); I get javax.microedition.io.ConnectionNotFoundException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com/symbian/midp/io/protocol/comm/ Protocol. My MIDlet works fine in the emulator and it returns the available com ports.
So my question is does the Nokia 6630 phone supports the "comm" protocol?
P.S. I am using the Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.3 beta

I don't believe I can solve your problem, but I'll warn you that calling native code from an EJB (which is what you are doing when you call into the serial api), is directly dis-allowed by the EJB spec.

  • Nokia 6630 - help needed

I have just bought a nokia 6630 about 2 weeks back. While using the phone i went into the Image print option in the Media folder. There i went through the procdeure and set up the images for printing. During the procedure i was asked if images could be transferred to the memory card for printing. I did this. I then renetered the Image print folder and deleted the created item there.
Ever since i am not able to view any images tones sound clips in the gallery. All information from this folder can only be view in the File Manager folder in the memory card section. Even snaps that are taken now are sent directly there and are not viewable in the gallery section. Also i cannot open the Image print folder and when i try to, the phone starts to open a print preview screen goes back to image print screen and then just returns to the media folder immediately all this happening in seconds.
Would appreaciate help in this regard.

Perhaps you could explain what you mean with "grab image"?
If you are trying to use the phone's web browser and want to save images off web sites, then the built-in browser has no support for such a feature. Try using another browser, like Opera, for example, or use a PC and then copy the image file to your phone from the PC.

  • Can I connect my Nokia 6630 to my Mac OS X 10.3.9?

    Hi,
I have done a search but unfortunately can't find the answer to my query.
I have just bought a Nokia 6630. Can I connect it via USB to my Mac with OS X 10.3.9, and if so, where can I find the software?
Many thanks in advance for your help

    Hi emma_p
I am not sure that there ever has been an adapted plug-in for 6630 to work with Panther unfortunately, as I think it was first listed in iSync v2.0 in Tiger.

  • Connection problems PC Suite - Nokia 6630

    Hi,
I cannot get connected via Bluethooth to my Nokia 6630.
    My configuration is:
    Nokia 6630
Widows XP Home Edition Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 : Serivice Pack 2)
    PC Suite 6.80.22
Bluethooth USB Adaptor Belkin F87001 ver.2.11
When I check on Nokia PC Suite Help 'about Nokia PC Suite' System info it says:
    Microsoft Windos 2000
    Build 2195
    No service pack installed
    and it also says:
    No supported Bluetooth stack found
I have no problems using the Bluetooth USB adaptor for other applications.
The problem with Nokia PC Suite is:
After installing PC suite, I click on 'get connected' button and get the message:
'there is no available connection type and therefore the connection to phone cannot be established. The wizard will exit.' If I then press OK I get the message: 'failed to detect available connection. Please reinstall Nokia PC Suite.'
I have tried to reinstall PC Suite several times but always end up with the same messages.
I have also run the PC Suite Cleaner 3.3 but still have the same messages.
    What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hey,
Dont worry, this is an issue alot of people have. I wrote a quick tutorial on how to do this.
I understand that you have Service Pack 2 on your Windows XP am I Correct?
If I am then procede with the tutorial:
Connecting the Phone to a USB Bluetooth Dongle. Using PC Suite.
Yesterday, I stayed up all night to figure this out. I called nokia support to see what they can do, and apparently the new drivers from Sitecom (the BT adaptor that I use) creates a "Cloak" over the Microsoft ones. (This is only if you have SP2!!)
    Required for these steps:
~PC Running Windows XP on Service Pack 2. (how do I know if I have Service pack 1/2? Go to Start > Controll Panel > Classic View (on the top left corner, or if you already are then ignore this) > System. In system it will say which serivce pack you are running.
~PC Suite version 6.80.22 or later.
~Bluetooth Adaptor + Drivers for it
    ~Nokia Phone supporting a bluetooth In/Out connection.
~Patience (this may take half an hour depending on your PC Spec) (Took me 15 minutes)
So here is what I did:
First of all close all programs that you dont need running.
Start > Controll Panel > Add Remove Programs > Sitecom drivers
Remove ALL Sitecom (or which ever company's you use).
    Reboot Computer.
Next put the CD/Floopy in the PC or folder that you downloaded have ready on your desktop, containing the drivers required for your adaptor.
If a autorun comes up cancel it.
Plug in your bluetooth adaptor to a permanent usb port! The port you plug it into will be the only and only port that you can run bluetooth from, dont ask me why. So use a good safe place. (I put mine in the back of my PC, not the front.)
Windows will now say that it has found new hardware. It will ask you if it can search the internet for drivers, click > Yes This Time Only.
It will search and wont find anything.
Now it will ask you if it can search for drivers on the PC, click : Yes, and tell it where the drivers are located, CD/Floppy, Folder. eg: E:\Sitecom/drivers/XP
Let it install. It will finish, then suddenly re-open.
Run the same step as above again. (dont ask me why..it just installes some more drivers.)
Finally it will finish and say that your software is ready to be used.
DONT TRY TO USE IT! THE SOFTWARE REQUIRED ISNT RUNNING YET. DONT RUN PC SUITE EITHER! DONT QUIT PC SUITE, AND DONT TRY TO USE THE CONNECTION MANAGER.
    REBOT the PC.
Now when you go into PC Suite > Connection Manager, you should find a new connection. In my case:
    Bluetooth (Sitecom)
and the old bluetooth connection looks like this:
    Bluetooth (Microsoft)
The connection is very fast and stable. You can browse the phone as if it is cable connected which is awsome. Transfer speed depends on your adaptor, but it averages between 1 - 3 Megabites Per Second.
Hopefully this works for you too!
    Good Luck,
    Tal
    I own a 5210, 5140 and now..the new 3250. Symbian 60 Series OS 3.0 ..just the best.
