Nokia 6700 Classic MSN Messenger Problem

For some reason i cant even sign into MSN i was never able to. I have 3.5G access here and am able to surf the net with it but not eable to go on MSN. Did anyone on here have this problem?

I would love to know the solution to this as I am seriously thinking of going back to my 6500 slide due to people thinking I am a dalek when they call me.
I don't understand how when I call out or use the phone through my car's handsfree system there is no problem.
I absolutely love the simple design of the 6700 and would love it even more if I didn't have to phone every caller back when they have given up trying to understand what I am trying to say.
I have turned off the voice clarity feature that I thought was the issue and still the proplem remains.
Has anyone managed to get anywhere with this?

Free Navigation for Nokia 6700 Classic

Hi everyone,
I notice the recent Nokia announcement that navigation is now free on all it's S60 based phones.
However, I just purchased a new Nokia 6700 Classic (Which has built in A-GPS, Nokia Maps pre-loaded & full offline Australia maps), but it runs S40 Software.
At the moment it appears Nokia still wants to charge me for turn-by-turn voice navigation. It seems a little unfair that the free navigation will only be offered on the S60 handsets when all Nokia have to do is send a free license code to S40 maps users to enable us to do the same.
I'm currently using 'We-Travel' on my Nokia 6700 which is a free 'Offline' GPS application. I'd much prefer to use Nokia's own maps software for navigation, but it's too expensive.
Does Nokia have any intention of making the free navigation available on the 6700 classic, or will users of non-S60 handsets still have to pay for this function?

Can anyone tell me what changes have been made in firmware V7.60 for the Nokia 6700 classic?

yes it would make sense. if you have an n series or e series phone there is a chance you will see those notes, changelog but usually it is not common practice for nokia as it is not public knowledge. sorry mate. keep googling for it, it might show up somewhere

Buying 8 GB for Nokia 6700 classic

I had bought a Nokia 6700 classic. Would buying a large memory slow down my mobile phone?

this phone can handle a 16 gb card so you will be fine with the 8gb only if the higher card was at maximum capacity in general yeah it would slow things down a bit

Nokia has not announced any specific availability dates for any region/country.

where there's the statement "expected to ship in the second quarter of 2009".
That means it'll probably ( "expected" is not the same as "guaranteed" ) be available somewhere in the world by the end of June.
Of course, it could also mean that it will be available somewhere in the world as early as 1st of April, too.
Note that if you are after operator customized versions, they also usually come only 2-3 months later than so called unlocked or SIMfree models.
So, if the unlocked model comes in some regions at the end of 2nd quarter (end of June), it could be August/September before it is available in your part of the world (where ever that is), depending on the situation.
If you subscribe to Nokia press releases via http://www.nokia.com/press then when it actually starts to ship somewhere, you'll get notified via email.

Nokia 6700 USB cable connectivity problem -fixed-

Ok, got my 6700 today. Everything worked like a charm, until I tried to connect it to my PC using the supplied USB cable. I downloaded and installed the latest Nokia PC suite which supports this phone (7.1.30.9) and connected the phone. Vista was unable to install a driver, and the phone was listed in the device manager as 'unknown usb device'. The phone display reported 'no response from host' after plugging in the usb cable.
I searched online for a solution, and tried the following:
- repaired the install of the Nokia connectivity cable driver: no success.
- deinstalled the nokia pc suite, ran the pc suite cleaner, rebooted and reinstalled the pc suite: no success.
- threw away the unknown usb device in the device manager and plugged the cable back in so that Vista would try to install the driver again: no success.
- tried other USB slots (not behind HUB): no success.
At this point I was so frustrated that I decided to take out the supplied 1gb micro sd card and transfer some data to it using a card reader. When I looked in the root of the sd card, I noticed that there was an executable called pc-suite.exe there, among some other files. I decided to delete those files to see if they were causing the problems, I deleted the following files:
- autorun.inf
- launcher.exe
- pc-suite.exe
- qf
Replaced the micro sd card in the phone, plugged in the usb cable and voila: connection! Everything worked like a charm.
During my online search I noticed I wasn't the only one experiencing connectivity problems with the 6700. Maybe this fix will help other people as well, that's why I decided to post it here. ;-)

Thanks Peter, nice job - same problem, your solution is working. Shame on Nokia - i have so many problems with E52, and now with 6700 - why ? Is it so difficult to make a reliable software ? So disappointed ... maybe Apple is the solution - but after 10 years with Nokia why change with Apple ?

Internet/MSN Messenger Problems

Ok, so for the past few weeks I've been having some problems with my msn and the internet. I use my city's cable internet and I'm on an imac OS 10.4.6 800MHz PowerPC G4.
When I log onto the internet in any browser, it works just fine. But, when I log into MSN messenger, messegner tells me no one is online. I know that's not true because there is always someone online. Anyway, I log out of msn, but when I go back to use the internet, it doesn't work and I have to unplug my modem and plug it back in (reset it) to get the internet to work again.
I then decided to use my iBook laptop to use the internet. MSN worked just fine on my laptop and I had no problms until two days ago I had gotten a list of updates from mac. (I chose to get weekly updates in System Preferences). The updates were for iTunes, iPod, and a Mac OS X PowerPC update. I had done that at night, then when it was finished updating I shut the laptop down and went to bed. The next morning my laptop was giving me the same problems my imac was.
Then today my iMac wouldn't let me log onto the internet at all, when my laptop would. After I rebooted my computer it let me on.
The other strange thing is that when I tried to log in with my Apple ID to post here, it told me my ID was disabled because of security reasons, so I had to make a new ID.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Do I have some kind of virus maybe? I have no clue. Help!

After the upsdates did you run "Disk Utility" and "Repair Permissions" ?
do this preferably before and after a system update, it does fix a lot of these little problems and prevents potential hassles in the future.
Another excellent repair utility is "Applejack", go to Google and get the address and download the application (Donationware).
This program runs in Single User Mode and repairs a lot more than Disk Utility, afterwards you'll find your Mac running faster and with fewer problems.

Is there anyway that I can set my status to invisible on iChat?
Also- was not sure where to put this next question. On msn messenger for mac- when I try and change the emoticons, either add or remove some from my list, it states that I am only allowed a max of 59 emoticons. Would have no problem, except i have only selected about 15..........
Any idea how to change this?

Nokia 3120 classic blutooth modem problem

Hi,.
I have a Nokia 3120 classic, on my PC I have Nokia PC Suite and a bluetooth dongle. Now when I connect my phone & PC via bluetooth everything is great, I can sync with my PC, transfer files, update contacts & messages, even send & receive SMS via PC. But I cannot connect to the internet. When I try to it says it is searching for bluetooth modems but none are found. If I connect my phone to the PC via USB cable, no problem, I get connected in seconds.

Nokia 3120 classic firmware update problem

Hello!
I tried updating my Nokia 3120 Classic with Nokia Software Updater, and I I've got some problems. When I connect my phone to the computer Software Updater detects it, and everything seems to be OK, but when i want to install the update (or as in this case re-instal it, beacause I've got the newest firmware version) the program returns errors.
The 'download' step is OK, Software Updater downloads the updates, and when it comes to installing after few seconds I get "update failed, to have the best connection connect your phone to the PC without USB hub..." (i've got polish version of software updater, so that's how I translate it into english).
The thing is, that I've got the best connection! The device is connected to computer via CA-101D cable! I don't know what is wrong, I used to update my Nokia N95, Nokia N82 and second N95, and everythink worked great, but then the new version of Nokia Software Updater appeared, and I can't update this old 3120 : /
I need to update it, help me!

Hi scarlet_213, download Nokia Ovi Suite and install it to your computer. Then follow the steps and upgrade your phone. If there is no update available for your phone, this could be due to a number of factors which are outlined in the following articles written by one of our senior users Grischnon: http://techyoddsandends.blogspot.com/ and http://linux.sgms-centre.com/nokiafaq/branded-phones/
The latest firmware version for unbranded handsets for the 3120 Classic is 10.00. Let us know how it goes.

Nokia 6700 Classic sensor settings

Hi.
I have just recently bought the Nokia 6700, and was pretty impressed by the feature that allows you to view the clock, mute, reject calls etc by tapping the phone. However, I've been unable to get it to work. Any clues as to what could be wrong here? I've activated it through the phone settings, but still no joy.

Nokia 6700 Classic Voice DIalling Tags

I have just puchased a Nokia 6700 as a modern replacement to my faithful still functioning but somewhat battered 6230i. However I find that it seems that you can no longer attribute voice tags to individual entries for use in my handsfree car kit.
One seems to have rely upon the voice recognition software which, perhaps possibly because of my Somerset English accent, seems to have a zero success rate. For a handsfree kit having some options is not suitable and to me defeats the whole object of voice dialling. Is anyone aware of a software downgrade to take what is a really nice package back to something that is as useable as my previous 6230i?

Voice commands is a little different to the old Voice tags. Some people say the South African accent works best but there are ways around that.
First use the Playback option in the Voice Command menu to playback what the phone thinks each command should sound like. You should issue the commands as closely as possible to that. That was how I started and the phone seems to have learnt my accent now because nowadays it works almost all the time in my normal accent.

6700 classic picture messaging problems

i have a 6700 classic which i love apart from the fact i cant send or recieve picture messages. its on vodafone who dont have the configuration settings for it as they no longer sell the phone. i've looked on loads of sites but it tells me to go into the tools section to find settings wizzard but i dont have a tools section on my phone. please help someone.

Nokia 6700 skype or messenger is not working prope...

Hi.. the nokia 6700 on a 3 contract comes with skype. When i try to minimise the application it says closing application and literally it closes down the application. It dosent stay minimised or hide. As i contacted my service provider they say that nokia 6700 was build this way. If it has been build like this its sad that i have one. Can some one from Nokia confirm this?? There is no point of using skype when it closes down. Can Nokia update the firmware version so that applications can stay ??? Apart from this 6700 is a master piece but it dosent have a secondary camera...

I purchased my phone from O2 (sim-free) apparently but it came with their settings. As it is branded that must be the reason for the slight variation in installed applications, settings .etc
When attempting to playback a video on m.youtube.com the media player loads, containing the globe icon with a small arrow, indicating a shortcut or link of some sort, the time/length of the clip updates but after a few seconds i get the "i" symbol in a pop up message displaying "No Response."
Any ideas?
Should I try reinstalling the 7.60 firmware with Nokia Software Updater?
