Nokia 6700C Software Upgrade

I upgraded my Nokia 6700C last week using NSU to;
V13.20
28-07-10
RM-470
Ever since then the phone goes into standby camera mode overnight. The phone is in a case with the keys locked and it is not possible that the camera mode is accidentally being turned on.
Any ideas please what this could be? I've searched all the settings and can't see anything related and the phone is over 12 months old and has never done this prior to the software upgrade.
Is it a setting I can turn off or how do I go back to a previous software version please?

Hi first of all software upgrade cannot be downgraded. If you can't solve the problem then try to reinstall the software or just give it to Nokia Care. They'll charge some amount for this process if your phone is not under warranty.
Thank you.

  • Nokia N96 Software upgrade

    Hi,
In November I bought the N96 from Carphone warehouse.  I really like most things about the phone but was very disappointed by the battery life.  Just before Christmas I attempted to upgrade the software (from verion 11 to 12)to see if that will improve the battery life.  Unfortunatly something went wrong and I was unable to turn the phone back on.
I tried various thing which I have seen on various websites to get it working again including the 3 finger reset however wasn't able to get it working again.
I took the phone into Carphone Warehouse who also could not fix it so the phone was sent to Nokia.  On the 15th the phone was returned to Carphone warehouse however it failed a quality test and finally earlier this week I was given a replacement phone (Software version 11).
Having used the phone for 4 days I am still disappointed by the battery life.  It gives me battery warnings by the end of the day having taken it of the charger when I leave for work in the morning.
Obviously I am very reluctant after my last attempt to try and do the software upgrade again.  Can anyone tell me if the software upgrade is worth doing?  Does it improved the battery life? What other things does it fix?
What tips do you have for me to avoid turning my phone into a brick again?
    Regards,
    Ben

Before you do anything, the N96 takes up to a few days to index all user files. During this period, the phone is slow and it uses a bit more power. Also, the battery requires a few charge cycles before it reaches peak performance. You battery life should keep improving for the first half dozen of so charge cycles.
There are a few steps you can take to enable you to squeeze a little more standby time from your battery. These include:
    1. Switch the phone from Dual Mode to GSM only
    2. Turn off bluetooth when not required
    3. Turn off Wlan scanning when not required
    4. Reduce the backlight power saver time
    5. Reduce backlight brightness
    6. Exit any applications when not in use
    7. Disable the "breathing" light
Personally I did not notice any improvement in battery life going from V11 to V12.
If you ever try updating again, I would strongly recommend you doing it FOTA (Firmware over the air) rather than using NSU.

  • To know about software upgrade of nokia N73

    my dear sir,
I want to know Processe of  about software upgrade of nokia n73.
I do not know any options of upgradation & update. So plz help me. I had lost my                                complate data From My phone. I know only Hindi language.

Being an S40 device, the options are very much limited in this case. You need to take the phone to Nokia Care...
..only thing you can do is, confirm that the battery is charged..(Put on charging for about 15 minutes)..and then try switching ON. If no responce then do as mentioned above.

  • Nokia 5235 firmware upgrade

I am from India and have a 5235 the current installed version is 21.6.005. I have an Airtel connection if that helps.
Nokia india site shows that there is a software upgrade available from march onwards (You will not find 5235 but if you search for 5230 it shows both 5230 and 5235) but even today my phone does not get the update. I have tried with OVI Suite and also from the Phone it says "No Updates are available".
Please check this page and search for 5230 it shows the following details.
New software releases (version 50.x.00x) are now available for Nokia 5230, 5235 and 5238
(In March it was showing version 40 now version 50 my guess is even if the version goes upto 100 still 5235 user will be stuck with 21.6.005)
Nokia has to learn lot of things from Apple and other vendors. Apple has released iOS-5 recently and all the phones world wide can install this update irrespective of the carrier why doesnt nokia provide update in similar way. Nokia always blame the carrier.
I want some one from Nokia support to tell when 5235 upgrade will be available.

Is your phone Network Branded ? i.e. Did you buy it from the Airtel shop along with Airtel SIM ?
When you say 'Nokia always blame the carrier' its not Nokia that blames anyone.. When a phone is Network locked, you get it at much cheaper price than the open market..but in turn you pay the price by having to stick to that particular Operator with some specific Firmware that has some benefits to the Operator. In this case its upto the Operator to approve the newer Firmware..

    Hi Nokia!
I purchased your Nokia 5800 Xpress Music mobile phone and I am trying to update the software/driver to improve 1: Touch Screen scrolling, 2: version of OviMaps, 3: Ovi Contacts, 4: SW application, and 5:  WLAN performance.
I called technical support for mobile phones, unfortunately it is unavailable according to the recording, i've waited for i think its wrong, but nothing happened the call dropped.
The current software version is V31.0.101, Software version date: 16-09-2009, type: RM-356 and it does not upgrade. I have tried using my phone options to upgrade/update the software, this did not work, i have tried using the Nokia Software Updater but it can not find the new version of the software, and I have tried searching for the new software version by using my phone code under the battery and still it can not find the new software version.
Has anyone resolve this issue? I need help on resolving this issue.

Alarm is inconsistent. Sometimes it’s late.
Clock settings/time zone is not working properly.
The charger port on the phone is a bit loose. Charging gets interrupted even if there is only little movement.
Option is to update NOKIAs 5800 software. Current version is V31.0.101, the latest version is V40.0.005.
Nokia PC Suite / Nokia Software Updater cannot find the update
Tried to use the mobiles code, still cannot find the update
My mate has the same mobile NOKIA 5800 on a Virgin Mobile plan; he was able to update the software. I got images of his phone and my phone with different versions, mine was the old version his got the new 40.0.005 His mate has the same phone as well, which they manage to update the software. He tried helping me update the software, but ended up unable to update the software and got frustrated.
Option is to speak with TeleChoice Barrack Street. After TeleChoice checked the phone why it will not upgrade they suggested having the phone serviced/checked by Nokia Care in Morley.
I let Nokia have a look at the mobile/issue, they told me they will be able to update the software for me, I left my mobile with them, and after 3 business days and the going back and forth to Nokia, and they were unable to update the software. Very sadly, they said it’s being locked by Optus.
I am using 3 as my provider, the mobile I bought it outright from TeleChoice, no plan whatsoever. So I don’t understand why Nokia said it is being locked by Optus.
The option provided for me is to patiently wait for updates, which is available now or to return the product.
Now I am processing a replacement of the device from TeleChoice 10/02/03, hoping to have the issue rectified. They should rectify this, or there will be a violation againts fair trading.

  • Will Nokia N8 be upgraded to Symbian 4

Is there possibilities that the Nokia N8 be upgraded  to Symbian 4 or will happen same as it has happen to Nokia N900
In that case is it good to Purchase Nokia N*

Based on historical precedent, it is unlikely (as already stated) that the N8 will be updated ro Symbian^4, but not necessarily impossible.
Nokia doesn't tend to upgrade the entire OS of a phone, but Nokia hasn't yet had two OSs developed so closely as ^3 and ^4, so there might less incompatibility - usually the problem is that the software tends not to be backwards-compatible with the old hardware, so it isn't cost-effective to update older devices (and also, why update a two-year old device when you can sell a new one?) - with both ^4 being already developed even before the initial launch of ^3 we can assume that they are being developed with similar hardware specs in mind.
That aside, I'm in full agreement with synth_fg - the N8 is looking like an impressive phone, why write it off and OS when it hasn't even been seen in action in the wild?
As for Nick's comments, if you fancy a move away from Symbian, at least choose a comparable OS that will offer similar freedom of use - however many iPhones they sell, if Apple keeps its current attitude to complete control over the buyer's use of its products, it will never be a real 'competitor' for any other smartphone - it will always just occupy its own little niche away from the rest of the world just as Mac computers always have.

  • E60 (type 0540021) firmware/software upgrade blues

    Hi,
I purchased an E 60 in Australia (of type 0540021) so that, among other reasons, I did *not* have to take my phone in for firmware upgrades.
These forums are replete with entries talking about higher versions of the software than the version my phone is running (1.0610.02.15) yet the Nokia Software Upgrade tool claims there is not a newer version available.
Following advice in the forum I put the phone into Nokia Care Morley to find that they also are of the opinion that there are no more recent versions available.
Come on Nokia! I purchased this phone to take advantage of the advertised features NOW, not when Nokia see fit to make them available.
Also, is there a sound technical reason why my model cannot use the more recent firmware revision or is it just some kind of digital certificate that makes them unusable on my phone?
    Thanks,
    Denys Williams

I don't have any answers for you but I do sympathise!
I am in the same position also, have a UK variant E60 on the same firmware as yourself - 3 months down the line and there is no upgrade available through the NSU or from Nokia service centre - Nokia won't help and their communication is **bleep**!
I have purchased this phone SPECIFICALLY to use the VOIP and Mail for Exchange facility but can't until Nokia sort out their firmware for my product version of E60 - its really frustrating as a colleague has an OLDER E60 with the latest firmware running Mail for Exchange and has the VOIP - *!*!*!*!*!**
Good luck with your patience - mine has nearly run out!

Actually, it has nothing to do with locking to their network. That's a totally different problem altogether that's independent from the branding.
What's happening here is altering the firmware so that it contains Three's logo and links to some of their services in the menu. Plus maybe a few alterations to maintain compatibility with the network, although they should be minor since unbranded phones will work on Three.
The trouble with making these alterations to updated firmware is that it takes time and therefore money to do it, and they get nothing in return. That's why it's such a low priority for network operators to approve updates.

  • Nokia E90 software version 400.34.93 released

This software release includes enhanced SW maturity and stability, and includes upgrades to VoIP, FlashLite and WLAN. This software release is available through the Nokia Software Updater: www.nokia.com/softwareupdates.

Sometimes, it's better to help ourselves.
I re-installed Nokia S60 BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1 (.SISX, 2,89 MB) that was originally developed for E90 firmware 300.34.84.
Vers. 8.23.1 appears to also work (keeping my fingers crossed) well at the moment for emails synching, for the new firmware 400.34.93
    Go to http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/blackberry_downloads.php
for  BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1
I have to do try 2 times before the BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1 worked properly on my E90.
During the first time, after the firmware upgrade and re-installing the backup data (that was saved before the firmware upgrade) using Nokia Suite, I found that the backup process did not re-install the BB Connect 8.23.1 automatically.  So I re-installed  BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1 using Nokia PC Suite, then did an activation on the BB.
However, activation stalled at 88% completion and "freeze" up.  By then, I see 2 BB inboxes in my Messaging > Folder view.
So I saved my emails in my Outlook on the local PC drive, and then deleted both the BB inboxes in my E90 (Messaging > Options > Delete).  Then I go to Installations > app mgr > Options and deleted the BB application totally from my E90.
I re-installed the BB Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23., and did a new activation.  [I am using BB Enterprise Server, so I have to get my IT support to re-initialise and give me the password each time i do this activation.] This time, it worked till 100% completion in synch my emails, contacts, calendar, etc.
In the past 6 hours, new emails on BB in my E90 have been coming in, and i was able to read and reply.
Hope this will continue, and the above info is helpful to others.
The new firmware appears to reduce the response time when you are using the E90.  I feel the time between pressing a command key, e.g., Messaging or Calendar, till the screen changes display, is shorter now.
Key response time is now closer to I expect from a premium phone like E90.

  • Nokia Update Software just refuse to install

    Hi there,
I would like to update my 6288 firmware but can't since the phone doesn't seem to have the first updating option, aka OTA option.
There is the second option : Menu ---> Settings ---> Phones ---> Phones Update ---> Install Software Update.
But I can't do that since I don't have the last firmware and can't find it anywhere on Nokia website.
So I tryed the third option. The Nokia Update Software option but guess what ? It's NSU who don't install because of some error. I've these error codes :
    1) Install Shield Error 1603.
    2) And then this second error :
I would appreciate if someone was ready to help to use one of these 3 option.
    1) OTA Update
    2) Direct Update from the phone menu ( the best one I guess )
    3) Helping me to install properly NSU in order to finally doing the firmware update.
    Regards.
P.S : Club Nokia smartly told me to uninstall NSU and to reinstall it. I had already tryed this solution before emailing them.Message Edited by antares on 14-May-200710:35 PM

Were you trying to upgrade PC Suite to 6.83 rel_14.1 from a previous version?
If you've not used Nokia Software Updater before is Windows NET 2.0 or 3.0 FRAMEWORK installed? If you've loaded every Windows Update it is probably there, but is not a critical update and not on Xp install CD.
I wonder whether remnants of previous version remain and perhaps you need to use Windows Installer Cleanup Utility - msicuu2.exe as mentioned in above article
If you try to uninstall PC Suite 6.83 rel_14.1 you can remove core application but cable driver portion remains; these programs are "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solutions"

  • N80 Software Upgrade

Last November I bought a N80 from Carphone Warehouse in the UK. Two days after puchase I returned to my home in the Canary Islands (Spain) and attempted to upgrade the software. My PC crashed leaving the N80 with a blank screen and inoperable. I took the phone to a Club Nokia dealer who informaed me that the UK warranty was void in the Canaries (part of Spain and the EU) and was a model only intended for the market in the USA and Israel and therefore could not be repaired under warranty.(It was the black version) I was then told it needed a new screen which would cost more than the phone! I took it to a second dealer via Phone House(same company as Carphone in the UK) and they told me the same thing. Eventually I posted the phone back to the Uk to a friend who took it to a local branch of Carphone and it was repaired under warranty (apparently only a software upgrade needed). I now have the phone back and it still has outdated software and I would like the upgrade as battery life is dreadful, but I am now very reluctant to do this via my PC after what happened last time!
Is the software download process reliable. MY PC has never crashed in this way before and I am concered that it was the N80 that caused the problem. Any advice please?
I was also concerned about the lack of support and help that I eceived from Nokia when I called them. They could only suggest that I flew back to the UK to get it repaired!
    Barry

I don't recall anyone else complaining that NSU (the part of PC Suite that updates the phone software) crashes their PC, but it is always possible that your PC has some other software installed that is causing the problem.
If however, your only reason for wanting an upgrade is that you believe it will improve battery life, then I don't think I would risk the upgrade again: I don't recall anyone saying it made any difference. Having said that, there are many other reasons you might want the latest firmware.
Re the battery issue, here's my list of things you can do to save battery on the N80 - I guess the list will be pretty similar for all of the N- and E-series phones:
    - turn off bluetooth when not in use
    - set Network mode to GSM only
    - set Wireless LAN Show Availability to Never
    - set Sleep mode on
    - reduce the screen brightness
    - reduce the power saver time out time
    - reduce the light time out time
Note that I have tried all of these and still my phone regularly runs out of battery after a mere 12 hours - but then I do use it a lot. The safest option is therefore "get chargers for work / home / car etc and possibly a spare battery".Message Edited by patc on 30-Mar-200712:29 PM

  • N82 software upgrade caused corruption

    Hi
I recently did a software upgrade on my handset, after completing the upgrade i noticed that Nokia Maps wasnt functioning correctly and when trying to take a photo i received a message stating the memory card was full. I then attempted to format the card and received a message saying the card was corrupt and cannot be formated. I then tried formatting the card in windows and dos using fat32 and receive messages saying the card is unreadable. Any advice? My phone is 2 months old.
    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately there really are problems with the 2G cards included in some N82' packages; I used to have the same problem with mine: after taking few dozen of photos and shooting some movies, some of the large files (movies and even some photos) remained stucked on the damn card... there was no way to download them on my pc or recover them by any chance; I even tried all possible operations with a card reader. Lately I formatted the card but after a while same problems with corrupted files started to appear again :-S
My solution was to go for a Sandisk microSD-HC 4G and from then all those issues dissappeared.

    Hi,
I been a Nokia user all my life and i have used nearly each and every premium phone starting from the model 2110.
it is sad that the way we are treated at least in India here. very disappointed with the bangalore call centre response.
see my message below in the board about my E90 and other problem is that i cannot see who called me last at times, i just called someone and now i am seeing the last dialled number it is of a few hours back from my address book.
My question is that, Why cannot a full testing be done from each and every aspect before the software or an upgrade is released, an upgrade should be an upgrade and not a "downgrade". Please hire us as your phone testing agents if you cannot get it done and give us a week and we will tell you where the problem is as we been using them for past 13 years.
