Nokia 700 and auto answer / handsfree kit function...

Can this phone auto answer, at all? This is for in-car use, when external power is connected continuously. With previous Nokia phones (I have the E51) the Tektronic Car Pack does all that, very well, but the company seems to have died. I cannot see any config in the phone. Could a 3rd party cluetooth-connected car kit make it work that way? The 700 user manual is near-useless - just states the obvious for each config item

you need to set "automatic answer" option to "on" from accessories settings menu from phone's settings

  • Nokia 700 and car HF CK-7W

I have Nokia 700 and car handsfree Nokia CK-7W connected via bluetooth. The connection works fine, but there is one problem: When I connect it, the phone automatically lock the touch screen. Is there any possibility to leave the tou screen unlocked?
In my last Nokia 6300, when it was connected to the same car handsfree, the keys was unlecked... That's exactly what I need with my new Nokia 700...
    Thanks for any ideas...

FWIW, I am using the N700 with the TBH BURY universal bluetooth car kit
    http://www.take-and-talk.co.uk/THB-Bury-Smart-Phone-Universal-Cradle-inc-Micro-USB-Charging-Lead-p-1...
and it seems to be working OK.
Of course, with the N700 having the power connector at the top instead of at the bottom, it is no longer possible to make a proper car holder which the phone just plugs into and is powered from. You have to connect a USB cable in this case.

  • Nokia 700 and Belle FP1 (Product Code 059L5V1)

My unlocked Nokia 700 (Product Code 059L5V1) never got the Belle FP1 upgrade, and so far hasn't got FP2 several months on from release. Can someone from Nokia advise -
    1. Why not - it's unlocked, and so far I've used it on both O2 and Vodafone Contracts
    2. It's a UK model to my knowledge
    3. When am I likely to get it / how can I get it.
I was fobbed off with FP1 and so far all requests to Nokia have again been fobbed off with a combination of "it's your network provider" or "it will be soon" - this was months ago. Now that there are no longer any (to my knowledge) Service Centre's in the UK that isn't an option either.
I've always been a loyal Nokia customer - but this is really starting to annoy me now (and the lack of support on this matter from Nokia).
Please can one of the Nokia mods / employees look into this and advise what is going on here ?

    hi mate,
sorry to hear your frustration. the way it works is that your phone has a product code. now, if your phone is a branded handset (e.g. Vodafone with all their custom wallpapers and apps), then you need to get in touch with them regarding availability of the update. it may be the case that they have not approved the update, even though Nokia has contacted them and said here you can have it.
in the other case, your phone is a country variant (which is what it sounds like to me), and is dependent on your region's Nokia Care approving the update and making their own customisations to it. it happens sometimes, but the regional Nokia doesn't approve the update, and therefore it is never released to the end user. this is an unbranded handset. therefore, unbranded is different to having an unlocked phone. you will need to persist with your Nokia Care in this case regarding the update: http://nokia.com/support
You know I've heard those lines so many times it's beginning to sound like cut-and-paste.
The fact that he mentioned PRODUCT CODE in the subject line is a fair indication that he knows that his phone has a PRODUCT CODE.
My 059L5V1 is a country variant which was both unbranded and unlocked.  It now has the 059G2D1 generic EU FP2 firmware on it.  I'm not allowed to say how I achieved this, or I'll get banned.
If it wasn't for the fact my 808 is so good I would have given up on Nokia by now.

  • Nokia 700 and Nokia Purity WH 920 Earphones

    Hi,
I've recently purchased a Pair of Nokia Purity earphones and low and behold... when I plug them into the Nokia 700... "Accessory Not Supported" comes up.
I think this is potentially a growing trend with Nokia Belle devices. I'm absolutely shocked that I can't even use them as a standard pair of earphones with the phone without mic/volume control.
I've tried it with my Nokia E52 to see if it were the headphones, and unless I hold down on the answer button on the remote control, I don't get the full sound.
This reminds me of when I bought a pair of Logitech Ultimate Ears for my Nokia E7 and it worked great (even though I couldn't use the volume control on the pair) until I upgraded to Belle and then it said "Accessory Not Supported".
Does anyone know if there's a software patch available for Belle that will allow me to use the ear phones? This is all starting to get ridiculous!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Take a closer look at the cable, it's probably not for size and same as the one supplied with the purity earbuds.  I have to use it to get sound from my N9, without it I get nothing.
    Here's a pic of it.

  • Nokia N96 and Rover Rover Car-Kit

    Hi and Help!
I hope someone can throw some light on a problem I'm having with my Nokia 96 (on 02), which I upgraded from an N95 8Gb at the beginning of December 2008. I have had numerous Nokia Phones (and a Blackberry) all on 02 and all working well with the built in car-kit in my Range Rover Sport. The two are connected via Buluetooth, but I am experiencing the following problems:
Everytime I get in the Car with the phone, it asks if I want to connect and asks me to input the code which I do and it connects. It is listed as authorised but I still have to go through this procedure each time.
When I'm on a call, the quality is good, but after a couple of minutes, I can hear the person on the other end, but the speech is very clipped, and they cannot hear me and as long as we both persevere, the call continues and returns to normal after 20-30 seconds but this issue is repeated every few minutes for the duration of the call. This happens whether I make or recieve calls.
Some of the things I have tried but which have not worked:
02 have replaced the phone and I'm now on my second, brand new unit.
I upgraded the software on both and I'm currently running 12.043, 26/11/08
I have had Land Rover look at the car kit when it was serviced yesterday (26/01/2009). They confimed they had tried it with other Nokia phones and it was working correctly and could not replicate the fault, albeit they weren't using an N96
I have independently checked the Land Rover webpages and confimred that the N96 is compatible
    Partial and full reboots.
Deleting and setting up new Bluetooth connections
Changing the Network from Dual to GSM only
Trawling through N96 and Land Rover forum looking for some sort of clue, and I can find absolutely nothing anywhere else!
I hope someone can help as I'm finding this increasingly frustrating and it's knocking my faith in Nokia products, and I'm considering returning to my N95.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Have got almost the same problem as you detailed below, however call quality when connected is fine. Even have the same car. Got a brand new N96 after two weeks but it is exactly the same, keeps requesting the pairing and code instead of connecting automatically.
If I cannot get this sorted I will swap for another cheaper phone that will work. Basic Nokias do the trick. Like Nokia have never used anything else.

    First way:
    - From my linux i change the folder permission to ready only (chmod 444 )
    Second way:
    - Download Y-Browser

  • Wifi doesn't work nokia 700

Hi, i've bought a nokia 700 and it connects to wifi but I can't access to the internet, the wifi is open, working and I can connect everything else perfectly.
I've been looking for a solution and I see that this is a common problem with nokia 700, so I would appreciate a solution, thanks.

    Hi hoyga,
Thank you for your first post and welcome to the Nokia discussion forums.
Are you able to browser the internet with your 3G connection?
Have you tried connecting your device to another WiFi access point?
Also have you looked at the following guide on setting up access points? I have attached a link below:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/700/user-guides?ccf_name=nokia-700/guide/GUID-C3B227...
Have you tried connecting another mobile device to your WiFi and checked to see if you can browse the web?
Have you tried resetting you router?
Have also tried doing a soft reset on your device? This can be done by dialling *#7780# and if the device ask's for a default code it is 12345 unless you have changed this since
Give some of the above a try and get back to me with your results.

  • Disabling Nokia 700 in-band ringtone

I have a Nokia 700 and a new VW/Audi group car with a Bluetooth HFS phone. When I receive a call in the car, both the phone and the vehicle speakers give the phone's ringtone. According to the car User Manual, this has something to do with the fact that the phone supports in-band ringtone.
The car has it's own selection of ringtones, but these are ignored due to the support for in-band ringtone on the phone. At the very least, I would like to limit the phone's ringtone to the vehicle only but, ideally, I would like to disable the phone ringtone and select one of the ringtone options from the car.
My previous Renault just had a "use car ringtone" selection in the setup menu and there was no output from the phone.
Does anyone know how to disable the in-band ringtone on the 700 so that I can select one of the vehicle ringtones?
    dasalias

    Hi dasalias,
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
Just to verify, have you used this phone to your previous Renault car? Did you also try connecting it to another Audi car if this will give the same result? BTW, what's the supported Bluetooth version of your car?
    Keep us posted.

  • Nokia 700 wifi problem

    Hi guys,
few days ago I got my Nokia 700 and I like it very much. It all seems very fast and smooth, except the wifi connection. I don't have a problem connecting to any network, but the web browsing  is very slow and I am loosing the connection very often (still, the wifi icon says that i am connected). This really bothers me and I would like to get this problem solved. Also I've tried using my mobile internet connection and it's also slow, but maybe that's because I've reached the limit for this month . I updated to the last software, tried resetting my router and resetting my phone, but nothing. Can you help me?
    Thanks,

might have to check your wireless router at home and the connection speed? or possibly the fix mentioned in this post on Nokia Beta Labs applies to you: http://betalabs.nokia.com/trials/wlan-software-update

  • Nokia 700 battery drain in AT&T 3.5g mode

    Hi all,
I have seen a couple of old comments on the battery life of the Nokia 700 and for the past 5 months I have also suffered from this problem however I have done a couple of experiments and wonder if it is just me or is this consistent with others.
A little history on my experience:
I purchased the phone in July 2012 (in the USA). The first couple of months the phone was great: battery life was ~4 days with moderate use in 3g mode on AT&T. In September 2012 I went to China and brought my phone along with me and used a prepaid SIM card while I was there and there was no problem with the battery life. When I returned to the US in October 2012, the battery life diminished significantly: full battery drain in less that 12 hours with NO use. Installing nokia battery monitor offered no insight as the entire battery drain is in the "Background" with no further information. Further testing showed that switching to GSM mode would extend the battery life to 5 days (as opposed to the 12 hours in 3g mode).
Annoyed by this turn of events, I contacted nokia's repair service, sent in my phone, had my phone replaced by a new phone, and found out that the brand new phone also has the same problem! Rather than dealing with the repair service again (the whole process took about 1 month to complete and there was a 2 week period where I was without my mobile), I opted to run my phone in GSM mode to extend the battery life, only switching to 3g when I need fast mobile internet.
Anyway, in December 2012 I travelled to Malaysia for 2 weeks. Once again I brought my phone along to use a prepaid SIM card. Not much to my surprise, when running the phone in 3g mode in Malaysia with moderate use the phone lasted 4 days on a single charge! Unfortunately, upon returning to the US, the battery life problems resurfaced, leaving me to believe that it the problem has something to do with how the nokia 700 is interfacing with AT&T's service.
My questions are the following: has anyone had a similar experience to mine? Does anyone know if AT&T did anything to their service that could be causing the battery drain when in 3g mode? If so, does anyone know how to fix this? Finally, is there anything Nokia can do firmware wise to prevent this from happening? I believe this is technically possible because the first few months that I owned this model I had no problems with battery life.
Thanks for reading my long-winded message.

This is an issue which is widespread in the cellular industry but which nobody will comment on.
All customer support in the business is done by either script monkeys in call/email centres, or by near-useless forums such as this one which are packed with people tearing their hair out but on which anybody who really knows anything (i.e. working inside the industry) is banned from participating. Nokia employees read the stuff here quietly.
I too have noticed there is a GSM / 3G selection in these phones (I have a 700 and an 808), as well as the various configs for "mobile data" (GPRS or 3G or HSPA). It would be interesting to test whether setting the phone to GSM-only (i.e. disabling "3G" in that menu) stops it working for mobile data totally, or forces it to use only GPRS for mobile data. I have just done a quick test (have a poor 3G signal here) and it looks like the latter.
Different cellular networks are configured differently. For example the 808 is severely affected by the famous 3G bug, massively so in some countries (USA especially though apparently not really on T-Mobile there) but much less so in the UK. I think some networks are set up for a much higher packet rate, or they transmit at a lower power which would force the phone to wind up its own power output a lot more.

  • Possible to disable intercom auto-answer on CUCM 10?

We're setting up CUCM for a new client and I've been working on intercoms.  I've run into some issues related to both presense and barging.
Because intercom speed dials cannot be set up as BLF speed dials, we're having to use additional button real estate for a seperate BLF speed dial button.  This is fine, its just going to take some user culture training to get them to look at the BLF before intercoming.
However, this would be much less of an issue if intercom can be set up to NOT barge in when a call is in progress.  I understand that the intercoming party will not be able to hear the non CUCM side of the call that is currently in progress but i guarantee that users are going to HATE that someone can intercom over the top of a call currently in progress.  Is there anyway to turn off auto-answer on the intercom feature?  This is really simple to do in CME but i can't figure out how to do it in CUCM

That may very well be the best approach. I think CUCM 7.x had the option to disable auto-answer but that functionality was removed in later versions. I know it isn't in 9x and 10x and 99% positive it was removed in 8x.
I have been asked this question a couple of times and BLF/SD w/ standard DNs seems to be the closest config option based on the functionality you are looking for.
