Nokia 700 hard reset

So this evening I backuped my phone and did a hard reset. It said that it will restart phone. I pressed okay and it turned off the phone and screen went black. Waited 5,10,15mins. Nothing appears on the screen and I can't even turn it on. Removed battery and put it back in and then it starts booting up [about 30-50seconds but usually it's faster] and then goes black screen like it's turned off.
Any way to fix this?

The reset method above is not intended for public/general use to reset your phone. I is reserved for use as a last resort for a Nokia Care Point or repair centre before a flash of the phone to be able to bring it into a working state if it is not. This reset _will_ remove or make unusable some applications or may make the device become unstable.
The only two user-applicable options are:
Soft Reset; *#7780# possibly followed by security code (default is 12345)
This will reset the device settings to defaults. It does not delete any personal data or system files.
Hard Reset; *#7370 possibly followed by security code (default is 12345)
This will erase all custom data and return settings to default values. It will not change the system files.
If you used the key-combination method it would be a good idea to visit a Nokia Care point where they will be able to restore the original firmware (latest available version for your device) including apps or system files which will be removed using this reset method. This may not be covered under warranty though and will completely wipe all information from your device so make sure you create a backup in Nokia Suite before you have this done.
Hope this helps,

@ Smorrissey, if I understand you correctly, then we agree that grschinon is the one beeing correct here.
@ Other users who search for help in this thread: Oposum is beeing a troll and should not be paid attention to. (I assume that oposum is refering to the "reset settings to factory default" manouver which would be *#7780# )...
people please understand, a sofware reset is provoked by software, a hardware reset is by hardware BOTH restore your phone to the brand new status.
If you only want to restore your settings the procedure is different.
Grschinon has already explained that in the posts above.

There is no way back as hard reset deletes user data upon C:\ and E:\ unfortunately, if you did not backup beforehand.

  • Nokia 6133 hard reset?

I have a Nokia 6133 and I am unable to get past the white loading screen because I have too many text messages (over 6000 in the phone). I am 100% sure this is the problem. I need to do a hard reset on the phone or I will end up having to throw it away (since the local repair center wants $50 just to flash it which is what the phone is worth) which would be a shame because it works fine otherwise. I've tried the three-button-reset I've seen floating around (hold *, green call button, and 3 at the same time while turning the phone on), and I've also tried the *#7780# and *#7370# codes but they didn't work. Any advice?

It's probably still worth taking it to the NCP and paying the $50 to have the phone re-flashed. Don't think of the value of the phone, think of what you'd have to pay to replace it. That would certainly be more than 50 bucks.
The 6133 is a great phone otherwise. You just have to be careful with its memory resources, and 6000 messages is a lot of messages in anyone's books. There are rarely more than 50-60 in mine at any given time.

  • Nokia X6 Hard Reset !

Recently my nokia x6 was not working properly,  when i switched it on it loaded but freezed on the homescreen. I tried switching on and off several times but that didnt work. At last i had to do a hard reset. I had not lost anything from my mass storage drive but i found that all the music that i had downloaded from ovi music store was asking for a licence and gave a message to get the license from internet. But then i found that internet was not working too. I have every setting from my operator nut still internet does not work. Please help.

As QT is not included in the software in the X6 a software update would not get it back, but as several apps on the Ovi store (and elsewhere) incude it, you would get it n the phone installing one, QT is also available on the web .As for API bridge the ones required should be in the software, or included in apps you install using them. I just hard reset and set up an X6 for a friend and everything is running really well now

If these codes don't work, it means you changed them.
The only way to reset them is by going to a Nokia Care Point, and have them reset the phone.

  • Nokia 100 hard reset

    Hi,
My company recently purchased two dozens of Nokia 100 to lend to our foreign visitors so they can make local calls free of charges (it costs us nearly nothing and our clients love it). Obviously we have to "clean" the phones between each users, and so far I haven't find an easy way to do it with the Nokia 100. I had imagined that a factory reset would erase all call history and sms but it is absolutely not the case. I think the sms are stored on the sim, so it is kind of logical that a factory reset does'nt erase them, but call history is not on the sim, so a sim manager approach is not really practical either. I thought the *#7370# code would help me, but when I try it the phone says "request not completed". I did not forget to type the asterisk.
Any help or thought on how to efficiently "clean" a Nokia 100?
    Thank you very much

  • Nokia 5300 - Hard reset?

    Hi all,
I've got a problem with my Nokia 5300 XpressMusic (S40 phone). While searching for a good synchronisation tool (the Nokia Sync isn't really my piece of cake), one of those third-party tools I tried has been able to mess up my phone. The OS and all is still working, only the screen gets frozen during start-up (so I can still do everything, but without visual).
I have had this problem already some weeks ago, but I didn't suspected that tool then. That time, I've sent my phone to Nokia, and they managed to repair it (re-flashing or really resetting it, I guess).
But this time I'm trying to reset my mobile my self (as it takes some weeks sending it to Nokia and repairing it), but I can't seem to find the correct code... I have already tried *#7870#, which does work, but doesn't reset enough to get my phone working again. I tried starting up while holding "green phone" + "*" + "3", which seems to reset something too, but again not enough.
So, if anybody got some other resetting codes, or any other method to reset my mobile (e.g. by remote USB application, I tried OS upgrade, but it hangs at 25%), I'd greatly appreciate that
    Thanks in advance,
    maleadt

    @justazas
As a precusror to visiting Nokia Care facility it might be worth trying three key depressed power on "hard reset".
Be warned that all user data upon device both C:\ & E:\ would be deleted, but with device off (remove battery and replace if not certain) keeping the volume down, menu, and camera button depressed and for 700 momentarily pressing red phone(power on) until first vibration felt then release, keeping other three depressed until country selection appears.

  • Nokia N8 maps problems after hard reset.

I quote the sticky with the same title
    quote
There have been some cases where users have used the 3-fingered hard-reset method on their N8 devices and lost Ovi Maps in the process. It is not yet possible for N8 users to redownload the application from nokia.com/maps, a situation that will be fixed in the near future with a new release of the Maps application.
In the meantime, if you find yourself in this situation, please contact the Nokia Care line for your country, copies of the necessary SIS installation file have been distributed to contact centres to pass on to N8 users until the Maps web page is updated.
Please note that it is not wise in general to use the 'three-fingered suicide' as a method of troubleshooting issues with your phone, this procedure is intended to attempt to revive a device that will not boot, in which circumstances you already know that everything is going to be lost before starting.
    unquote
So I went to the local Nokia care line center nearby.  The technician told me in order to re install Ovi Maps on the phone I had to leave it for a few days under repair.   When I mentioned that it was purely software installation (and I only needed the SIS file) and not a technical repair and I could not leave my phone behind for several days the manager mentioned this was Nokia policy.  Obtaining the SIS file was not possible.
The manager himself mentioned "that is why I use an Iphone" and me as unpleased customer left this Nokia "we do not" care line center.
So be aware the if you want to have the ovi maps app reinstalled on the phone, it could well take a few days.
    Nomic.

Perhaps if you go over to Nokia Beta Labs: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-maps-306
and ask nicely in the correct thread, you might find that kee takes pity on you. However since release of .sis file to Nokia Care Points whom can't be bothered with N8 woes as they consider carrying out a "hard reset" an own goal, they (Nokia Beta Labs) might now expect resolution via this method.

  • Hard reset for a nokia c6-00

My nokia c6-00 won't turn on how do I hard reset it and the battery is dead

have you tried it a few times or tried this
How do I format my Nokia device?
You can format your device by typing *#7370# in standby mode. Before the device is reset, you need to provide the lock code. The default lock code is 12345.
    IMPORTANT NOTICE!
Formatting the device will permanently erase all user data and settings as well as add-on applications and operator specific settings.
If you have made a backup of the device data, the data can be restored from the backup after formatting but some add-on applications can have restrictions that they are not restored from the backup.
If you use formatting to repair faulty behaviour of the device, restoring the backed-up data files may restore the unwanted behaviour as well. In that case, a partial restore may resolve the situation.
The contents of the SIM card and memory card (MMC) are not erased during formatting. Note, however, that in some device models (e.g. Nokia N8-00) the mass memory is formatted in this situation and it is therefore important that you have backed up all the data from your mass memory (E: mass memory) before resetting the device.

  • Missing Widgets after Hard Reset - Nokia Astound

Hi ~ I had to do a hard reset as my Nokia Astound was freezing up. The phone is working better but it deleted all of my data, of course. Now some of the widgets are gone as well - such as the Social Network one, You Tube and Visual Voicemail. Any way I can get these back? Thanks so much!

I know the pop up you are refering to. You had some applications installed on your memory card before the hard reset. The hard reset broke the link to those applications on the memory card which the phone then tries to restore after the the reset. My advice is to either reformat your memory card and reinstall everything from scratch or ignore the pop up, go through all yor apps, see which ones aren't working and reinstall them.
There is no need to do a factory reset after a full hard reset. See if that solves your profile issue.

  • Nokia c7 pr 1.2 hard reset

    Greetings all.
My C7 has been giving me alot of problems so I am planning on installing pr 1.2 via ovi suite and doing a hard reset. *#7370# hasn't worked so this is whats left. Does anyone know if this will delete Maps, Social and Store and the Qt support like it did with the original firmware or will I be fine? I've already sent it to Nokia twice and they didn't seem to do anything. This is a last resort. Thank you for any help.

No, you will not lose anything if you update your device. But if you want to be 99% sure that you will not lose any apps or files, then just back-up your stuff before updating.
P.S. Avoid installing unnecessary apps so that you don't face so many problems with your C7.
