  • Nokia 700 unexplained alert tone?

My new Nokia 700 is randomly playing an alert tone that is not acompanied by any message.
No Apps are open and the WLAN is turned off. The tone is the Email1 tone (NB email is not open). I have not changed the default alert tones.
    What could this be?

First if you want some tones check out
    http://www.tehkseven.net/ringtone/mp3-ringtones.html
And when I assign for message alert I go Settings-Profiles-General-Personalise-Message Alert Tone(tap)-then have options of Download,Tones,Songs,Video Clips, and sound clips. I select songss-Albums (coz its easier to check 'unknown' where tones end up than all songs) then just select the tone that I dragged to music file from computer after download and use it. Works for me !
    Good Luck

  • Nokia 700 belle fp2 voip

I configured Voip on Nokia 700 belle fp2 with the guide from this page. I prefer 3G connection so I set packet data connection over 3G and enabled AWCDMA setting in VoIP service settings. Like in the guide. I can make calls. Sound quality is excellent on booth sides. But I'm not reachable over VOIP. My phone doesn't make any signs when I try to call it. I quadruple check to be sure that every profile entry has been made correctly. I reconfigure settings for wifi connection and trying to establish connection over wifi bat the problem resist. My voip provider doesn't make any restrictions. Is there any explanation or better solution for this problem.
    Solved!

I find this document  from year 2002. I capture the registering data and incoming call data with wireshark. I find out that my voip provider has problem with Call-ID header. While registering they answer with right Call-ID header. When I get incoming call the Call-ID header is not the same. There is no malfunction. The call is dropped with 404 not found.

  • Bello (Nokia 700) unable to send emails 1MB or s...

My 700 is consistently refusing to send emails if I attach more than 2 photos.
Sometimes it says "unable to do operation" but sometimes it just bombs out of the Send dialogue, back to the gallery.
Very occassionally I can attach 3, but of course Jpegs vary in size.
The phone has 120MB free on C: so low memory is not the issue.
Is there some solution for this?
The E51 could email 20MB attachments, no trouble at all. I used to receive and forward 20MB emails all the time. The 700 is unable to open received attachments of a few MB.

    Email account?
    No email account.
I am using straight SMTP email sending, via an SMTP AUTH server whose limit is about 30MB and which we use with various other clients.
But the email does not even try to get sent. The Nokia 700 email app just falls over while, apparently, encoding the attachments.
The failed email ends up under Drafts, oddly enough, but not always.

  • Nokia 700 will not connect to Internet

Help! i have a Nokia 700 which will not connect to the internet via Vodafone sim card - I have data on the card and it works fine in other phones - just not the 700!!! The phone was originally on 02 - was unlocked and the sim from my old Nokia 6212 phone put in its place. (we use the NFC facility) It is working fine for voice calls/texts but will not connect to the internet which is its prime use! Have alreadycarried out a  factory reset to no avail - it will connnect via our own router - but of course once out of range i lose the signal and thus the internet!!! All help gratefully appreciated!!!!

You need to install the apn settings for Vodafone. Easiest way is to contact Vodafone and request they send you the settings by sms. This sms should auto configure your phone for you. If they are unable to do this then ask them for the apn settings and instruction on how to set it up. If not then come back here and we will help you set it up.

  • Nokia 700 - zip manager bug

    Hello,
Nokia 700 has, at least mine does, out-of-the-box installed "Zip manager, Ver. 1.0 (1019)" from Epocware/Paragon Software Group.
When opening from different zip archives, files having same names (but different contents), the program seems to open always the same, first opened file.
As an example, try creating two zip archives, a.zip and b.zip, and put a picture.jpg into a.zip. Then, get another picture and rename it to picture.jpg and put it into b.zip. Then experiment with unzipping.
It works unexpectedly as above also when using password encryption. Storing decrypted content in some cache and available for programs does not seem proper.
Is there a quick-and-dirty solution, e.g. for flushing the cache?
A replacement for the zip manager application would be best.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
Not quite as you described, I think. Let's do it step by step.
    Setup:
    A.zip archive contains scenery photographs
    B.zip archive contains lolcat photographs
    - access A.zip
    - open fg.jpg (that is in the A.zip archive)
    - observe the picture fg.jpg (scenery shot)
    - quit accessing A.zip
    - access B.zip
    - open fg.jpg (that is in the B.zip archive, and different from the file in the A.zip; only the name is same)
    - observe the picture fg.jpg (on display there is the same scenery shot as above, although in the B.zip archive there are only pictures of lolcats)
    - reset phone
    - access B.zip
    - open fg.jpg
    - observe the picture fg.jpg (lolcat photo)
Conclusion: resetting the phone clears the issue/cache.
Bottomline: like, yeah, sure I'm going to every time reset the phone for this

  • What to buy after Nokia 700

    Hi all,
I always have had Nokia phones since they came out.
And now my Nokia 700 is slowly passing out after 2.5 years of heavy duty.
Symbian Belle was a great OS and the small size of the 700 was just perfect for me.
Now I don't know whats the best Nokia out there that will fit in the range of the 700.
As Nokia now is coming with a couple of Android phones in order to offer more apps etc.
Symbian Belle was in my opinion the answer on Android. It works pretty much the same as a samsung, but then again however the quality of Nokia has a way much higher grade of finesse.
I have searched a lot for a Nokia Lumia, but yet there's something I really don't like about them. The size!
This goes as well for all android phones and Iphone. They are just to big.
So what would be the best Nokia to be followed up after a Nokia 700?

I haven’t found an alternative to my Nokia 700 yet, and still use it.
Especially, if an Apple iPhone 5S is too big for you either, … the alternatives would be … I do not know any.

  • Nokia 700 heating up??

Ok so when I'm calling and using 3G, the phone is heating up quite fast.. I also have an Xperia X10 and it's not heating up as much as the Nokia 700.. Is this normal for this model? Is the aluminum body causing for it's a conductor?
    Thanks!

Due to the aluminium cover in Nokia 700, it easily heats up. It's because aluminium is a conductor on heat and the heat itself comes from the battery (Though not entirely from battery) . It's normal. And even if you try to clean it with wet cloth, it will be alright but try not to use a wet cloth.
It is normal, so don't worry. Even a plastic phone can also heats up. It's only because the battery cover itself is aluminium.
Try use your phone in heavy usage for about 10 minutes. Then open your battery cover and take out the battery or touch your battery. The battery will heat up. So, yeah, it's normal.
It won't get your phone melted or boiled. So, don't worry.
If I have helped you in any way, give me a kudos!

  • Car charger for Nokia 700

    Hello everyone!
Anyone knows if the DC-6 charger is compatible with the Nokia 700? Thanks in advance.

These lists are notoriously out of date. Whilst there will be no compatibility issues it is more question of output @ 550mA which is probably not sufficient if say navigation is being used, whereas DC-20 outputs 1000mA.

  • Nokia 700 battery drain in AT&T 3.5g mode

    Hi all,
I have seen a couple of old comments on the battery life of the Nokia 700 and for the past 5 months I have also suffered from this problem however I have done a couple of experiments and wonder if it is just me or is this consistent with others.
A little history on my experience:
I purchased the phone in July 2012 (in the USA). The first couple of months the phone was great: battery life was ~4 days with moderate use in 3g mode on AT&T. In September 2012 I went to China and brought my phone along with me and used a prepaid SIM card while I was there and there was no problem with the battery life. When I returned to the US in October 2012, the battery life diminished significantly: full battery drain in less that 12 hours with NO use. Installing nokia battery monitor offered no insight as the entire battery drain is in the "Background" with no further information. Further testing showed that switching to GSM mode would extend the battery life to 5 days (as opposed to the 12 hours in 3g mode).
Annoyed by this turn of events, I contacted nokia's repair service, sent in my phone, had my phone replaced by a new phone, and found out that the brand new phone also has the same problem! Rather than dealing with the repair service again (the whole process took about 1 month to complete and there was a 2 week period where I was without my mobile), I opted to run my phone in GSM mode to extend the battery life, only switching to 3g when I need fast mobile internet.
Anyway, in December 2012 I travelled to Malaysia for 2 weeks. Once again I brought my phone along to use a prepaid SIM card. Not much to my surprise, when running the phone in 3g mode in Malaysia with moderate use the phone lasted 4 days on a single charge! Unfortunately, upon returning to the US, the battery life problems resurfaced, leaving me to believe that it the problem has something to do with how the nokia 700 is interfacing with AT&T's service.
My questions are the following: has anyone had a similar experience to mine? Does anyone know if AT&T did anything to their service that could be causing the battery drain when in 3g mode? If so, does anyone know how to fix this? Finally, is there anything Nokia can do firmware wise to prevent this from happening? I believe this is technically possible because the first few months that I owned this model I had no problems with battery life.
Thanks for reading my long-winded message.

This is an issue which is widespread in the cellular industry but which nobody will comment on.
All customer support in the business is done by either script monkeys in call/email centres, or by near-useless forums such as this one which are packed with people tearing their hair out but on which anybody who really knows anything (i.e. working inside the industry) is banned from participating. Nokia employees read the stuff here quietly.
I too have noticed there is a GSM / 3G selection in these phones (I have a 700 and an 808), as well as the various configs for "mobile data" (GPRS or 3G or HSPA). It would be interesting to test whether setting the phone to GSM-only (i.e. disabling "3G" in that menu) stops it working for mobile data totally, or forces it to use only GPRS for mobile data. I have just done a quick test (have a poor 3G signal here) and it looks like the latter.
Different cellular networks are configured differently. For example the 808 is severely affected by the famous 3G bug, massively so in some countries (USA especially though apparently not really on T-Mobile there) but much less so in the UK. I think some networks are set up for a much higher packet rate, or they transmit at a lower power which would force the phone to wind up its own power output a lot more.

  • Nokia 700 and Belle FP1 (Product Code 059L5V1)

My unlocked Nokia 700 (Product Code 059L5V1) never got the Belle FP1 upgrade, and so far hasn't got FP2 several months on from release. Can someone from Nokia advise -
    1. Why not - it's unlocked, and so far I've used it on both O2 and Vodafone Contracts
    2. It's a UK model to my knowledge
    3. When am I likely to get it / how can I get it.
I was fobbed off with FP1 and so far all requests to Nokia have again been fobbed off with a combination of "it's your network provider" or "it will be soon" - this was months ago. Now that there are no longer any (to my knowledge) Service Centre's in the UK that isn't an option either.
I've always been a loyal Nokia customer - but this is really starting to annoy me now (and the lack of support on this matter from Nokia).
Please can one of the Nokia mods / employees look into this and advise what is going on here ?

    hi mate,
sorry to hear your frustration. the way it works is that your phone has a product code. now, if your phone is a branded handset (e.g. Vodafone with all their custom wallpapers and apps), then you need to get in touch with them regarding availability of the update. it may be the case that they have not approved the update, even though Nokia has contacted them and said here you can have it.
in the other case, your phone is a country variant (which is what it sounds like to me), and is dependent on your region's Nokia Care approving the update and making their own customisations to it. it happens sometimes, but the regional Nokia doesn't approve the update, and therefore it is never released to the end user. this is an unbranded handset. therefore, unbranded is different to having an unlocked phone. you will need to persist with your Nokia Care in this case regarding the update: http://nokia.com/support
You know I've heard those lines so many times it's beginning to sound like cut-and-paste.
The fact that he mentioned PRODUCT CODE in the subject line is a fair indication that he knows that his phone has a PRODUCT CODE.
My 059L5V1 is a country variant which was both unbranded and unlocked.  It now has the 059G2D1 generic EU FP2 firmware on it.  I'm not allowed to say how I achieved this, or I'll get banned.
If it wasn't for the fact my 808 is so good I would have given up on Nokia by now.

  • No low battery alarm when on the call. (Nokia 700)

There must be some bug with the low battery alarm on Nokia 700. When the phone is on a long call, it just shuts down without any alarm at all. I had this issue several times. My battery shows that it’s full for about 30% or something. Then I call and have a long conversation. And the phone just dies without any alarm at all. When I try to start it again it seems that battery is drained and I have to charge it to turn it on again.
When the phone is in standby and battery is starting to running low, it beeps and shows a message. However, when I am on the call, nothings is happening, it doesn’t give me a message that battery is low and that it’s time to connect to the charger.
It’s a most important functionality I expect from the mobile phone, to be able to make a call reliably.
    It’s a Nokia 700
    Software version: 111.030.0609
    Software version date: 2011-11-26
    Custom version: 111.030.0609.c00.01
    Language set: 111.030.0609.05.01
    Product code: 059G2D6
    Type: RM-670

It seems to me that after I've got version 111.030.0609 installed by Nokia service technician, my Nokia 700 never goes into power saving mode (and it doesn't matter what do I have in Setup / power saving / power saving query). It doesn't turn saving on and it doesn't ask me about it. Something must be wrong with 111.030.0609

    @justazas
As a precusror to visiting Nokia Care facility it might be worth trying three key depressed power on "hard reset".
Be warned that all user data upon device both C:\ & E:\ would be deleted, but with device off (remove battery and replace if not certain) keeping the volume down, menu, and camera button depressed and for 700 momentarily pressing red phone(power on) until first vibration felt then release, keeping other three depressed until country selection appears.
