Nokia 700: Update: 113.010.1506

Hi all Nokia fans!
Using Nokia Suite I was informed to upgrade to the version: 113.010.1506.
I decided it also has time the clearn out a number of old app's - sp I made a full clearnup and reset,
using the standard menu function (first I did make a backup!!!)
After this - I made the upgrade - just seeing that now all applications I want to install from nokia market
fails to install. Both using Wifi direct or using the function in nokia Suite.
There is  not other error message on the mobile than "installation fail"..
How can this go wrong - on a clearn version of the mobile??
Thanks for helping out :-)
Regards
Jan

Hi Jan,
I wonder if Nokia Suite messed up the phone during the update? ... It wouldn't be the first time, unfortunately. Now that Nokia has made the "Nokia Software Recovery Tool" available to customers, I recommend using that instead. It worked great for both the C7, N8 Symbians and my new Lumia. It downloads and performs a clean flash of the latest available firmware for the phone:
http://www.nokia.com/us-en/support/software-recovery/
The phone behaves as brand new after that, and any data will have to be restored from backups. This approach is also great if you're going to sell or give the phone away, since it restores to an out-of-the-box state. (Remove the SIM before flashing if you sell the phone).
There will be some additional updates after connecting the phone to Nokia Suite, or when checking for updates on the phone itself, and the Store may want to update itself when entering the store for the first time.
I hope you get it sorted out. Please let's know how it goes.
Hans

As 808PV is the last Symbian device now out of production, it would be unrealistic to expect any further updates. That said whilst upon 113.010.1508 don't get such issues sending from Gallery via Bluetooth
and although beyond the remit of this manufacturer's sponsored forum, it is feasible to get the old Photo and Video editors back if so desired:

  • 808 pureview Update 113.010.1508

This update is causing my windows 8 pc to BSOD (blue screen of death) during the firmware installation after the phones first USB disconnect i get a BSOD stating a kernel failure and then the pc shuts down
The first time it happened i had thought something went wrong with my computer elsewhere and i was worried that my phone may have been bricked (luckily it hadn't)
Upon my second attempt at installing the update I noted the cause and exact moment of failure
I'm running Nokia Suite 3.6.36 btw
fully updated Windows 8 and I have all background programs turned off including my anti-virus when attempting to update

okay so i sort of "fixed" my issue i was connected to my usb 3.0 slots when i had the problems and so i tried one of my usb 2.0s and i was able to update successfully
guess its an issue with the connecting/disconnecting on usb3.0? anyway everythings working fine now

"updates are pushed out by Nokia to operators"
Seriously? It's as if you couldn't update your home computer's operating system without asking permission from your internet provider.
I am really disappointed with Symbian Belle. It is more a toy than a powerful modern operating system. I tried to update to FP1, and after downloading the update, the phone says "Phone not updated. The software package is not compatible with your phone. Please check with your local service provider". I came here to see what I could do, and the answer is: bring your phone to Nokia Care. That's unbelievable. I am a PC user, with Debian Linux, and not a single time, in 10 years, I had to go to "Linux Care". There is no Linux Care. When you have a problem, you search the Internet, read the manual, then you just fix problems yourself because you have full access to everything. No need to bring your computer anywhere and come back 2 days later to get it back.
Symbian Belle is less powerful in 2012 than most operating systems were ten years ago. You can't even connect to the Internet via bluetooth, using a PC as a gateway. How is that possible? You have lots of network interfaces (WIFI, bluetooth, 2G, 3G, USB) but you can't use them as you want. And Nokia seems to think that the priority is a weather widget or dolby sound. Sure, this is probably what any course on operating system design would teach. I'm getting rid of Linux because it doesn't come with a weather widget, only with huge networking capabilities. What a shame. I wish I could install Symbian Belle on my computer so I could know if the weather is nice.

After update my nokia 700 to latest vesion via pc suit ,photo and video editors are missed from mobile programs (app).....how can i reinstall these programs?

If your device is running the Nokia Belle FP2, read below information.
Video and Photo editors are now integrated into Gallery. They aren't a separate applications in the Menu.
Go to Gallery and select the Video ( or Photo) you are editing > Options > Edit.
This applies to 603, 701 and 808 PureView as well.

  • [Nokia 700] Email widget appears after backup

Funny problem, after making a backup with Nokia Suite, the e-mail widget appears at my second homescreen. Ofcourse I can remove it from the screen, but the next time I make a backup it appears again. Always on the second screen. Firmware and Nokia Suite are up-to-date. I did not try to reset my phone because the last two times I tried it bricked and I had to bring it to a carepoint. In the past I did have the small interactive email buttons on this screen, but never the large one that appears.
Does anyone know which application I can uninstall related to the mail widget?

    Hi Mark_NL
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
You can uninstall the Email on the phone that is related to the email widget. You can go to Menu > Settings > Installation > Already installed > Press and Hold Mail > Uninstall. Or if you just want to remove the icon on the home screen, just press and hold the mail widget and then select the "X" icon on the right upper part of the widget.

Regarding the videos did you play the same videos that you had played before sending your phone to Nokia care?

Didn't you check if its working fine at the Nokia Care ? ..or did the problem start afterwards ?
If nothing works from the link provided by adrianhughes , you need to again get it sorted thru' Nokia Care ..a
Unfortunately there are NO INSTRUCTIONS in referred to resource for Symbian S^3 devices and later so pretty pointless referring OP to it.
It sounds as if Care facility just accepted software prompt saying that flashing completed and never waited for device to reach country setup screen to check that operation was satisfactorily completed; I have seen this issue reported with several 700 where firmware was reflashed using ATF Nitro box for speed.

  • Will UK 700 059L5V1 get Nokia Belle update?

Yes I know it has Belle already but it is SYMBIAN Belle version 111.020.0308. This is incompatible with the Microsoft Apps for Symbian. It is a generic, unlocked unbranded phone so you can't use the 'waiting for operator approval' explanation.

    Hi guys,
Even though your phones may not be branded by a carrier, they may be country variants, in which case the Nokia Belle update may be delayed to you, or not be released at all. Country variants are where Nokia has released the generic firmware to your country's Nokia, and it is up to your country's Nokia to approve this and add their own country requirements / custom apps etc, and release the update to you. If you still do not see an update available for your handset, I suggest contacting your Nokia Care and inquiring.

  • Where's the Nokia Music update for FP2???

    Hello,
Was this update pulled lately from pipeline? Because it's been a week since when I performed a clean update to FP2 on my 808 PV and the only over-the-air updates back then were Microsoft Apps and New Social; also only these two updates were offered via Nokia Suite.
No sign of Nokia Music and / or other minor updates at the time being.
What's wrong with the rest of the updates? My Nokia Music is useless right now (it won't open).

  • Nokia 700 and Belle FP1 (Product Code 059L5V1)

My unlocked Nokia 700 (Product Code 059L5V1) never got the Belle FP1 upgrade, and so far hasn't got FP2 several months on from release. Can someone from Nokia advise -
    1. Why not - it's unlocked, and so far I've used it on both O2 and Vodafone Contracts
    2. It's a UK model to my knowledge
    3. When am I likely to get it / how can I get it.
I was fobbed off with FP1 and so far all requests to Nokia have again been fobbed off with a combination of "it's your network provider" or "it will be soon" - this was months ago. Now that there are no longer any (to my knowledge) Service Centre's in the UK that isn't an option either.
I've always been a loyal Nokia customer - but this is really starting to annoy me now (and the lack of support on this matter from Nokia).
Please can one of the Nokia mods / employees look into this and advise what is going on here ?

    hi mate,
sorry to hear your frustration. the way it works is that your phone has a product code. now, if your phone is a branded handset (e.g. Vodafone with all their custom wallpapers and apps), then you need to get in touch with them regarding availability of the update. it may be the case that they have not approved the update, even though Nokia has contacted them and said here you can have it.
in the other case, your phone is a country variant (which is what it sounds like to me), and is dependent on your region's Nokia Care approving the update and making their own customisations to it. it happens sometimes, but the regional Nokia doesn't approve the update, and therefore it is never released to the end user. this is an unbranded handset. therefore, unbranded is different to having an unlocked phone. you will need to persist with your Nokia Care in this case regarding the update: http://nokia.com/support
You know I've heard those lines so many times it's beginning to sound like cut-and-paste.
The fact that he mentioned PRODUCT CODE in the subject line is a fair indication that he knows that his phone has a PRODUCT CODE.
My 059L5V1 is a country variant which was both unbranded and unlocked.  It now has the 059G2D1 generic EU FP2 firmware on it.  I'm not allowed to say how I achieved this, or I'll get banned.
If it wasn't for the fact my 808 is so good I would have given up on Nokia by now.
