Nokia 701 announced.....C7 but with Belle/Upgraded...

Yep Nokia have just announced some new Symbian phones and the new Belle OS. The 701 is the most interesting as it is basically a C7 with a few improvements, including Belle OS, IPS LCD with clearblack and gorilla glass and finally a faster processor (now 1Ghz). Biggest disappointment is that is still ships with the fairly rubbish fixed focus camera....damn !!

I shifted from e51 to c701 on 27th Sept2011. Many simple softwares i am unable to download as it has no provision and the error says "" this feature is not available for this model of c701"". Example. Google maps, Skype messenger, SPB TV, NIV bible download and many freely available applications from getjar, opera and many other websites.. The only error says is that ""this feature is not available for this model of c701"". How can we live without this as we already have these in my earlier E51 and now I am unable to use properly.. Please look into this and accord urgent help so that without further delay I may able to use it.... For heavens sake please don't take this model as many issues are to be sorted out until these are freely worked out..... Paul , Hyderabad, India.

Have her go to Settings>Cellular and make sure Cellular Data is turned to On. If she's having trouble with regular sms messages, check her carrier to be sure her messaging plan is properly provisioned.

Nokia Chat doesn't work with Belle in N8

Hello.
I upgraded to Belle this weekend but now the chat app doesn't work. I got it again from the store, and now it only shows as a widget, not as an app, but it simply doesn't work.
I click on the widget, there's an update on the screen so the touch seems to have been recognized, but that's it, nothing happens after that.
Is anyone else had the same problem?

Odd thing, we have N8 and 701 both running same / stock Belle version. The new Chat in N8 work fine but not on 701. On 701, won't accept my valid login to GTalk!
BTW, the new Chat found on Store actually havs improved widgets; one per service. Too bad it is still not fully ready for prime time...

Nokia 925 Screen - AMOLED but with backlight that ...

Hi guys.
This "issue" is mostly noticable when glance is enabled and on-screen all the time. The thing is that the whole screen has a light backlight light always on, just like the 920 has. I thought that the putpose of the AMOLED screen is basicly that each pixes is its own light source? I can understand that backlight is usefull under bright conditions but in the dark... why is that? How can this be fixed?

This is quite normal behavior as AMOLED screens can have a faint glow which is visible in very dark conditions. This has nothing to do with backlighting (like in LCD displays) and it is actually caused by current leakage through the diodes. Depending on many factors including density and sensitivity of the light emitting diodes, different panels will exhibit more or less glow and you can expect to see variations even in units which have exactly the same panel model.
In some cases due to variations in the manufacturing process it may also possible to see that the glow is not uniform with some areas slightly darker than others. That is again part of the normal functioning for a screen and will not impact its performance and accuracy.
I'm working at Nokia, but all my posts represent my own views and these should not be mixed up with Official NOKIA statements.

Is it possible replace nokia 701 ISP-LCD screen with c7 amoled display ?
It is true.... 701 Lcd screen is verry bright ( 1000 nit ) but wil consume more energy from battery, and black it is not deep compared with any amoled display.

It is not likely that you as a phone user will be able to replace the display on your own.
It is also quite likely, that it isn't an exact fit physically (different size, different connecting mechanism).
It is also quite likely that should it be physically compatible, you'd still need new display drivers, which are part of the firmware, which you can't modify.

C6 with Belle fails to connect via ActiveSync

Using the same credentials as previously used (before belle) the exchange account refuses to connect.
Keep getting "Invalid Exchange ActiveSync credentials. Check credential settings."
I am using Nokia C6 and before I upgraded to belle (both with symbian and anna) I was able to sync my calendar and emails.
But, after the upgrade I started to get the error.
Recently I purchased my N8 for my wife and I thought I should try it out again on the N8 (that does not have the belle upgrade yet). The activesync worked like a breeze.
Our company certificates require user to setup the phone lock code active. I was forced to do that on N8 as soon as I setup the activesync.
But with belle, if I turn the phone lock off, it doesn't even prompt me for that. Right now I have the two phones setup exactly the same (with the lock code active). The N8 connects and syncs up just fine and C6 does not.
I see other people are facing similar issues. A fix would be appreciated.

I contacted Nokia support and all they could offer was soft reset, hard reset and then reinstall.. none of those worked..
Looks like there are lot of people facing problems with belle and ActiveSync. Anyone has experience solving it? oh! and swype ain't the problem.

Joikuspot C7 with Belle

There is some rumour at Nokia's list of incompatibilities with Belle that Joikuspot Premium does not run on C7 under new Symbian Belle.
Can anybody confirm that? It seems strange that only the C7 would have problems.

Problem with belle fp1 on nokia 701

i updated my nokia 701 phone to belle fp1 and i really like the new features that came with. Since the upgrading, i do encounter problem with the phone. The phone may fail to recieve network while others are, or switching itself on and off continuosly until i restore it back to factory settings. This always make me to loose a lot of applications i have downloaded. It is painful because i have restored it to factory settings more than 5times within 5months. I'm afraid of upgrading to fp2 now. Pls enlighten me on how to solve this problem.

Sorry to hear that you are still having problems with your 701. It appears you have tried everything, so apart from performing a three-finger hard reset, and this not working, then your only option is to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to take a look at.

Nokia 701 (BELLE) problems

I have N8 and 701 both.
There are some disappointments with 701.
(1) Google Maps is NOT working in 701 (Belle),
(2) While downloading Maps of India in Nokia Maps, the whole country map has to be downloaded at once for 701, whereas it can be downloaded state-wise in N8 (Anna),
(3) Anna has got one nice feature at home screen, I can check the Battery Level (in %), Activate and De-activate power saving mode, and go to Network Settings right from the Home Screen, which is NOT available in BELLE. :-(

Use yahoo imap email instead of göggelmail...anyway göggelmail works excellent in native belle email client.
If you installl nokia sleeping screen you can use one of the wall papers to see the clock and clearly see the battery consumption (not in percent but very clear anyway).

When belle fp2 is coming for nokia 701?

Belle fp2 has already been released for nokia 808. But why late for nokia 701? when is it coming actually?

Hi Guys,
Please refer to my original anwser stated on this thread but just to re-iterate Nokia has not officially announced any new updates or release dates suffice to say support will continue for Belle devices up until 2016. Anything you read on the net "claiming" to be leaks or "from an a official source" is all speculation and as you all know from the forum guidelines to quote
"Nokia does not comment on rumours or speculation concerning anything not officially announced by the company, and as such discussion of such matters on this forum is also not permitted."
So anything you read on google and other websites are not offical! As stated by Nokia these devices will have continued support till 2016 but at this present time nothing in regards to a feature pack 2 has been announced. Please wait for offically annoucements which you can read on the forums or the Nokia website. You can also check for updates as well through your devices and Nokia suite. Belle FP1 Scroll bar (Nokia 701)

How come you can no longer scoll with the scoll bar? How do I enable scroll bar scrolling again?
Why change something that has been there since the first version of S^3 now????

a snapshot of shutter off. You have to scroll down hence you cant see this option.
Equalizer by Lanternsoft (I think).
I dont use (need) any equalizer as sound is as good as it can be....I use other things such as good heaphones with sound cancelling and sometimes a small amplifier attached to wired or bluetooth headsets. My solutions costs more but sound is beyond any other solututions with equalizer...

I am experiencing some problems with my Nokia 701

I am experiencing some problems with my Nokia 701.
1)While updating OS with Nokia suit its restart then phone becoming dead and need to remove battery and insert it again in order to work and i need to run without completing full update
2)I am getting "Memory full please some applications and try it again" while watching videos after each 5-10 mins where as no apps are running in the background.
3)Getting System error while loading any apps from Ovi Suit or Nokia Store after Downloading
4)Disconnecting automatically from ovi suit apps and many times not connecting with the apps while usb is still connected and ovi suit option is selected from the phone .
5)Cant download any apps from Nokia store web page getting "Downloading error)
6)Some time apps are closing automatically
7)Camera at low light without flash is not working well more bad than 2 mp Rs 3000 phones
8)Many other problem with Nokia Suit
9)Sound is too low with loud speaker lower than any other smartphones even lower than other's Nokia 701.
And its my first smartphone from Nokia

If an update failed, but you can still access the phone, do a reset. Dial *#7370# followed by 12345 if required, the phone will set to out of the box, but you'll have to set it up again manually and reinstall your apps. Before doing this, connect to Nokia Suite and update to the latest available software, then set up, you should then find everything works fine.

symbian belle fp2 was updated in my nokia 701 yet there are many defects
1) front camera not supported
2) no dedicated exit option in camera app
3) arrow keys in keyboard missing ( strongly required )
4) der should be normal prediction option instead of dis word prediction.
5) for gallery , there is no option of multiple marking and sending except only one delete option
6)updating system has been stopped since oct ( except a minor update of twitter photo sharing ) when will be new update out
6) there are discussions as to total black out of symbian from market . Is it true that there won't be any development for symbian

IPhone 3S was used with Bell, then unlocked to use with Rogers. Now I want to use it as iPod (Don't want to activate as phone),but when connecting to iTunes I'm getting message: There is no SIM card, disconnect and insert new SIM card. Help?

I have an old iPhone 3S, that was used with Bell. My friend lost her phone and I lend her this one, which she unlock to use with Rogers. I got it back and want to use as an iPod not the phone, but when I connected to iTunes I am getting this message: "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please diconnect and insert a SIM card".
I went to Bell and Rogers where we tried inserting active cards but message never changed.
On the phone itself I am able to get wifi but finish with "Your phone could not be activated because the activation server is temporary anavailable."
I run diagnostic from iTunes:everything is working properly, only message out of normal is "iTunes is not running in safe mode"
How can I sinc this phone with iTunes, so I can use it to lisen to music?

I can not get to iPhone screen, so no way to get to Settings. That is the problem. When I connect phone to iTunes I get screen asking to insert SIN card. On the phone I'm getting Cinfigure screen asking Launguage , Country or Region, Wi-Fi, ( I can connect to my home wi-fi), and last screen "Activating your iPhone". After two minutes of waiting IM getting message: Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server in temporary unavailable. try connecting to iTunes or try later or contat apple.com/support.
Like I mention, I went to Bell as well Rogers store and tried to insert active SIM card with no results.
