Nokia 7070 Prism

Greetings,
I purchased a  Nokia 7070 Prism for my wife birthday and loaded it up for her with all important telephone numbers and madeup for her groups for easy contact of our imediate family.
When she receives messages from one of her conatcts in the phones telephone book it only shows the sender as (no name) and the telephone number.  Why is this so? Surely the details are taken from the phone book to give this detail?
I have searched the manual and cannot find any information on this subject or how to set the details so both name and number is shown when a message is received from a contact in the phones telephone book.
I hope there is someone out there who can answer this for me
Best regards

Does this only happen for one/some of your wife's phone contacts or all of her contacts? Does it only happen for text messaging or calls too?
If the name does not show up for some of the contacts but works for others, this means you have duplicate entries in your wife's phone contacts. Check for contacts that may have the same phone numbers or even more than 1 entry with the same information.
Delete the redundant entry/number and it should be fine.

All you can do is take it to a nokia care point if the LCD has gone dark.

  • Nokia 7500 prism and CK20W car kit

I have a problemb with this kit, when i press the top button on the kit to enable the music player the radio is muted i can then control music player via car kit, if i then receive a call the music player stops but the radio is no longer muted ie i get radio from the radio and voice from the nokia speaker, when call is finished and back to music player,it does not mute the radio, when ignition switched off all seems to be normal the next time, everything fine when music player is controlled from the phone,

Unfortunately, although the 7500 Prism has the 2.5mm audio jack connection, the handset will not support all the functions of the AD-44 that comes with the HS-44.

  • Bluetooth from Nokia 7500 Prism to PC :-(

my bluetooth was working fine yesterday but now nothing will send to my pc :-( it finds my pc so I click to send the data, but then it says sending failed. What happened? How do i fix it??

On a related note - how come there are unavailable songs in the Music Store? I thought CMW gave free access to the entire store for a year?
I can understand how in some cases there's an internal server error (or simply a file missing), as seems to be the case with Infinite Mass' "She's a freak" from the album "The Face" (annoying, but at least something that will be rectified, right? right?). But there's also albums like Heaven & Hell's "The Devil You Know" where when I click the download arrow, all I get is a grey cross - nothing even gets added to the dl queue and no error message. Feels as though the license doesn't cover CMW dl's, only purchases? Or as is the case with The Enemy, where the song Silver Spoon off of their latest album is simply greyed out, and the dl arrow isn't even clickable...
These are just three examples off the top of my head, I've encountered more (not very frequently, but still) - it's particularly annoying when it's just the one song that's not downloadable...

You are all kidding about this right?
Really, you do all know it's ENTIRELY down to product placement - ie: paid for advertising - rather than any "cool" factor, don't you?
I just can't believe there are intelligent people out there who still don't know that. I mean: why would a high profile pop star or the producer of a multi-million dollar movie feature a (usually entirely irrelevant) piece of technology in their product for free when they could get hundreds of thousands of dollars to do it?
It's not even like it's subtle anymore: have you seen how much product placement Apple have bought in Californication? Every other scene has someone using a powerbook or an iPod or at least talking about it.
Favourite line from the last one I saw: "Do you know (some **bleep**py album)? I'll gift it to you on your iPod."

  • Nokia 7900 Text/Contacts Memory

    Hi,
Does anyone know how many contacts/texts the Nokia 7900 prism can store? I assume it is virtually unlimited, but can anyone clarify this...
    Jamie

It's between 500 and 1000 on the phone and whatever your sim holds (probably 250).
Although you have plenty of memory not all of it can be used for contacts.
Smartphones are better for storing 1000's of contacts.

  • Nokia Prism - HELP

Ok, I need some help - I love the Nokia prism phone and really want to buy it. Can anyone tell me firstly where can I buy it in Ireland (I've searched and found one place on the net but it seems a bit dodgy) and secondly, will I be able to use my sim in it (currently 085), will all the applications work in it e.g. picture messaging. I'm a bit useless when it comes to technology so answers in simple english would be greatly appreciated!!!!

You can get it from here: www.expansys.ie
They have the 7500 prism and the 7900 prism.
They will both accept any standard sim card from any network.

  • Does Nokia even employ an R&D department anymore?

Last time I owned a Nokia was over two years ago and recently I decided to go back to the make of mobile that I had been used to most of my mobile-life.
I just bought a Nokia 5300 (slidy, music phone) and I am appalled that Nokia have not change or improved their user interface in two years!
    Here's a few examples:
    1. When unlocking the mobile (either by using the slide or buttons) a warning pops-up stating the mobile is now unlocked rendering it useless for a second.
##(Now, this and all of these little gripes will sound very trivial but when all on one mobile; they are demoralising!)##
I personally would like to be able to slide the phone and immediately be able to begin pushing buttons.
    2. When turning the music player on, I am informed that the multimedia keys now control the media player. This is fine; for the first time but not every time you turn it on. (ie, turn on media player then either switch mobile off or change to radio and then switch it back on again). And I bought a mobile with dedicated multimedia buttons; I KNOW WHAT THEY DO!!!
    3. The send and the spell soft keys are the same! Example: writing a text message (using T9), mobile doesn't have the word I would like to say, so I scroll through with the * key
until I believe I have reached the end of the list, push the middle button to add my new word to the dictionary and... oh sh#t I've just sent the text message half finished and with the last word being something like "inof"! Very poor decision that one!
    4. Spelling a word in T9 and accidentally enter the word wrong and just as I've noticed my brain has already told my thumb to push ok. Now I'm stuck with a word in my dictionary that makes absolutely no sdnse (I mean sense). Can I delete that word? oh no, a list with all the words you've manually added? what a preposterous idea! (Sony Ericsson: "My Words").
    5. Just like clam phones, it would be nice if when I slide my mobile shut it automatically goes to the main screen and locks itself instantly. Mainly to look suave but it would be nice that you could, without looking; close the phone and put it in your pocket without worrying: "did I push lock?"
    6. Ever noticed that in all the shortcut customization you can't have messaging? You may have write message, write mms, inbox, e-mail, IM but not the menu: messaging. This would be useful, because you could have one of either the right or left selection keys linked straight to the messaging menu.
    7. This has probably been mentioned thousands of times: On the 5300, the camera, volume and multimedia buttons are relatively hard to push so DON'T LOCK THEM!!! What's the worst that could happen? Oh no, I skipped a track in my pocket, if only I wasn't touching the skip button when the train stopped and I fell forward, last time this happened was '72: I may cry.
    8. The help tips. Now, I would say I know how to use a mobile but if there's a function that I am not familiar with then it is nice to know that all I have to do is highlight it and wait a few seconds to find out it's purpose.
Menu -> Settings -> Display Settings -> Power Saver
"Lets you choose whether the power saver option is switched on or off. The power saver allows you to save some battery power."
I never would of guessed, so...what does it do? Using the good-old-fashioned way: trial and error; found that when the mobile is in standby the screen will just display the time and date. THAT'S ALL IT HAD TO SAY!
    9. My friend's just sent me a message from his new mobile. Use detail, number, save. Now I have to type his name exactly to replace the original, why not just have an option to find and replace?
I probably could whine about this mobile for a bit longer but I'm getting bored! :-)
All my suggestions may not be liked by everyone but a choice should be available.
All this could be solved by a tiny little phone update but sadly, we all know that Nokia won't bother!
They haven't put any time or money into consumer research in the past two years, why start now?

The 5300 was launched October 2006 and has the Series 40 3rd Edition operating system which dates back to approximately mid-2005.
The latest version of the Series 40 (called 5th Edition, not sure where 4th went...) is available now in the 5310 Xpress Music and the 7500 Prism, and several other models that have been lanched in the press which are not yet in the shops.
If you want the latest phone, you have to buy from the latest range.
    Well said!
S40v5 is a nice improvement to a good stable operating system.
I've never had any trouble using any S40 devices over the years. I find them to be very intuitive and user friendly.

  • 7500 Prism - Totally Dead. Need some help badly...

Heya! I've had my 7500 Prism for a very long time and the only bad thing about it was that it sometimes used to freeze when playing a video. However, this bug got annoying enough to make me made the snap decision to update my firmware version. So far, so good, but there were no newer versions for my Product Code, so I changed it and updated. Unfortunately, I lost my native language menu in the process (should have known better), and I decided to downgrade. At this point, something during the downgrade went wrong and now my phone is totally dead. It won't boot and it won't even charge. Something like "Charger not supported" comes up and I am using the original charger. When it had enough battery, it went as far as showing the Nokia logo and than turned off on itself. I have tried to fix it by restoring the original version, but the computer can't pick it up fast enough before it goes off again and so all the programs I've tried can't detect the phone. Since I am laical in this area, I've figured someone from the forums with much more knowledge than myself could help me out So, I am open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Well I'd lie if I say that I didnt see that comming Okay, thanks, I'll check these unofficial forums you mentioned. I had no idea that something could go so wrong (softwarewise) to render my Prism useless...

  • Nokia pc suite -- bluetooth

i am using the latest verion of BlueSoleil (5.0.5.178) and Nokia PC Suite 6.85.14.1 with my 7500 Prism.
My Nokia connection manager sees 2 types of bluetooths, Microsoft and IVT BlueSolei so the selected one is the IVT BlueSolei and it works, the phone is detected but when i click on file transfer or store images it says 'Could not connect to the phone'.
Now that is interesting because the Syncronize feature works.. it connects, syncs and its all fine and dandy. But i want the filetransfer and other features too.
In my Nokia PC Suite help -- information ... in Detected Bluetooth stacks i see only Microsoft.. (and not IVT BlueSolei)
i think this is the problem... is there a way to solve this ?

It tells you it could not connect to the phone because the com port assign to bluetooth that it should use is use by another the sync(active sync of Microsoft always uses its driver)! Its a bug on the driver.

  • Prisme 7900 missing menu

    Hi all
I have a problem with the display settings of the phone. Actually, i don't have in this menu anything related to screensaver although it's written in the guide book that there are screensaver (the phone shows a changing motif/photo when the phone is not used for a certain time) and batterysaving (that shows the clock when the phone is not used for a certain time) and sleep mode/profile(the screen turns off when the phone is not used and this option must be under the display setings and not the profile ones according to the guide).
In fact, i think my phone is set by default on the sleep mode because that's what it does, but i don't have the option to change it because it does not exist!
These three options don't exist in my phone display settings. Does anyone have this same problem? Plz help!
    Thanks for all in advance!!

just got this phone on contract with o2, sent first phone back as no screensaver on menu, phone appeared to be trying to set screensaver and just lit back up every 10/15 minutes with a bleep(kept my girlfriend awake all night,This resulted in flat battery in under 18 hors with just a couple of short calls! just received replacement today, still no screensaver, no changes to this so called living wallpaper. Nokia support when i called them advised me that the screensaver has been removed due to battery saving problems, I wonder if my phone is actually trying to access screensaver, but as its not there just switches back on instead.
Also does anyone now anything about the leds either side of the charger socket? they light up if i move the phone?
Regarding the clock etc being visible in standby. On my first prism this was occasionally seen. but cant activate on my new one.
lastly both prisms appear to have a dented number 5 key, this nokia told me was deliberate to help with touch typing, am concerned that anodised finish will wear at this point and that it also snags threads when left in pocket.
