I used my phone extensively for a little more than a couple of years. Yesterday night the battery died and I connected the charger and started it. I got an error on startup saying "Contact Service".
Any idea what the problem could be and how to resolve it ?
I heard this sort of thing is normally solved by a firmware reflashing. But I need my contacts and calendar. Any way out ?

I already tried the removing battery thing. Didn't work.
Firmware was updated to the latest version only a few months back at service. And this happened all of a sudden. My network bar turned zero when I was travelling and I presumed it was because of bad connectivity. Reached home and connected the charger and restarted the phone. Got the contact service error.
Any idea why this sort of thing happened ?

Hi guys out there,
I am facing the issue as per subject. Im not sure whether its caused by defective chip/software in the phone. It happened when I removed the battery and put in back. Till that, it was working fine. The phone fell down quite few times and I believe something has been broken. It was working fine until I removed the battery and put in back. So, can this be repaired?
Any idea of the cost? Or any other suggestion on this type of error? Can the existing details such as number, messages, notes retrieved from the phone prior to reset it?

What's the model of your phone? The message Contact Service indicates that there could be an internal problem with it. The following steps may help resolve or give some indication as to the source of the issue:

If your phone has a memory card, remove and re-insert the card.
If your phone still displays the same error message, you have to bring it to the nearest authorized Nokia Care Point for inspection and possible repair per @Abi99's advise. See: Local support to know the nearest Nokia Care Point within your area.
Note: Sending the phone in will delete all your personal data.

CONTACT TRANSFER ERROR IN NOKIA 515

Hi , i tried transferring contacts from Lumia 1020 to nokia 515 by using transfer app which comes in nokia 515 .. After importing all the contacts it started with comparing and after a while i got a error message on nokia 515 CONTACTS IMPORTING FAILED .. PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER ..

I was at a basketball court and left my phone while it was raining, it seemed fine even couple of minutes after cos i still made a call from it but about half an hour later it showed on the screen "contact service", i tried shutting off and restarting but to no avail

The water has damaged your phone most likely beyond repair. Sometimes a phone will work for a short while after it's been exposed.
All you can do is take it to a nokia care point for inspection. If it is water damaged then they will not be able to repair it.

Message on screen says "contact service" when i sw...

i have an old nokia 7250i that i havent used for years, i wanted to get some data off it and put in the sim card to make it switch on, it worked for about an hour or so then i took the battery out to use in another phone. when i put it back in this message came up and it was a black screen, with a small white box in the centre and written in red in this box was "contact service", i dont care about the phone i just want the photos from i can it be saved??!

"Contact Service" is a fatal boot error of the handset.
The phone has completely crashed and I am sorry to tell you that what ever was stored on the handset are gone forever.

SharePoint Foundation 2010: search error: "Your search cannot be completed because of a service error."

I have SharePoint Foundation 2010 running on a single server with databases, with a second server in the farm serving as a 2nd app tier. Both server have the exact same versions of SharePoint loaded (according to the Central Admin site).
Whenever I try to run a search from any site in my SharePoint Foundation 2010 installation (in this example I typed "this is my query"), it hangs for 20-30 seconds while the IE status bar says:
Waiting for http://SERVER2010:80/tfs/SITE1/_layouts/searchresults.aspx?k=this%20is%20my%20query&u=http%3A%2F%2Ftfs2010db%2Ftfs%2FSITE1
Then it finally returns a results screen with an error that says: "Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information."

Not sure what "resource limit is reached" actually means. This SharePoint installation is running under regular SQL 2008 R2, and the
WSS_Content database is fairly small (10gig). I've reviewed the Search Service, the process account running it, the
WSS_SEARCH index database, and verified that the Content database is using the proper index database. Everything looks like it should be crawling/indexing/working fine. But the WSS_SEARCH
database isn't very large, so I'm not sure if the crawling is actually filling it with anything.
Not sure where to start seriously troubleshooting this. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
The query ran in tens of seconds. This indicates that at some point a bad plan compiled and stayed in the cache.
It may have gotten there because the statistics were out of date.
A possible way to keep this from happening is to rebuild statistics with full scan more frequently.
Try free the proc cache and see the result.

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. try contacts.ovi.com/dist/nmob, its what I have as a link on my E71 and you can access the maps info and stuff from there.
Alternatively, have you tried the 'my nokia' link from the mobile, you can access ovi from there and download the ovi suite and you can manage your maps using that.

State service error when submitting InfoPath form to Library

I have a problem and looks like Google couldn't help me.. I really hope someone here will be able to.
I have a Form Library using a custom form. When submitting the form to the library, users are getting this error. I don't get the error with my own user, only difference is I have full access to the farm and content using web app policy.

MOSS StateService threw an exception: A Microsoft SharePoint Server State Service error occurred while processing your request. For more information, contact your server farm administrator.
I deleted the State Service and recreated it twice, once with PowerShell and then with the Farm Configuration wizard. Restarted the server. Problem might come from InfoPath Forms Services tho but I don't what else I can do.
Does anyone have any clue??

After analysis of servers,it turns out that
the anonymous user authentication has been enabled on
the web application server
via IIS and not via SharePoint
(unsupported configuration), causing
side-effects on some queries which
calls to forms.
We disabled anonymous access.This desactivation
causes the functioning of forms again.

Device Page Service Error after updating from 2.8.0 to 2.8.2

Hi all,
today, I updated my demo server ZENworks MDM from the version 2.8.0 to the version 2.8.2. After this update i cannot display users and devices in dashboard. When i click on the Users tab, i`m getting the error: "Device Page Service Error. Unable to complete operation. If this error persists, please contact ZENworks Technical Support." But I`m able to login as user to the self service portal and also i see my user and his device in the Activity Monitor.
Please, how can i solve this issue?

No Service Error: FTP Adapter file write

Hi,
I am trying to write a file to a FTP server (Windows).
I am able to connect to the FTP through command prompt and put the files as well.
And to connect to FTP through IE, I had to uncheck "Use Passive FTP" under Tools-Internet Options-Advanced and then I was able to access folders successfully.
But through FTP adapter, I am getting No Service Error. Below is complete error message.

I was contacted by our DBA team for an exception received while writing a file to a FTP location.
Then i looked at the exception message and asked them to check the whether they are able to contact the ftp server using command prompt then they said the user password got expired.
They reset the password and its working now.
Am i missing something here :(
