what is the last and where I find the last stable version - Nokia ?????

my situation and error -
1) gtalk is not running
unable to connect to one or more accounts
2) Application Manager write error
osso-application-installer 4.22, UI version 1
3)Internet connect
the connect to the Internet functioned - perfectly

Nokia 770 OS upgrade to 2006 edition

Hi,
when trying to download the 2006 edition from the maemo site i enter my MAC address for the WLAN and i get an error message saying the "product ID is not valid" i've checked the MAc address a number of times and also checked it in X terminal as well, they are both the same.
If i use the nokia software updater for winodws it willonly update it to the latests version of the 2005 software
Any ideas on how i get get the 2006 software for my 770?

have now managed to get the 2006 software downloaded from the mameo site, but now when i try to manully do a update using the nokia software updater it just tells me an error has occured redownload the update.
any suggestions?

Sync with Act 2006 (version 8.0) and IBM Lotus Not...

First, let me thank you in advance for your help.
I'm looking into purchasing an E71. This will be my first smartphone. I need it to do the following:
1) Sync my E71 with Lotus Notes (version 7.0) to receive my work e-mail. Our tech department only supports BlackBerry's...should I be able to figure this out? Will everything sync wirelessly?
2) Sync my E71 to receive my contacts from Act 2006 (version 8.0). Does Nokia's PC Suite allow sycnronization from Act to the E71? Will it continuously update wirelessly?
3) Sync my E71 to receive my calendar from Act 2006 (version 8.0). This is the most critical of my tasks...I need a mobile calendar and I'm not willing to switch from Act. How do I get my calendar from Act 8.0 to my E71?

PC Suite already supports Lotus Notes.
However IBM/Lotus has announced an S60 client (Lotus Notes Traveler) with Nokia (but it is IBM/Lotus that has written that application:

Upgrade to OS on Nokia 770 Tablet

In my new Nokia 770 I realized that the operating system was the 2005 version. After performing, in an apparently normal way, the process of updating to the 2006 version the device worked no longer (did not reboot at the end of updating) and all I could get was a blank screen. I am going to get a new one but I´m afraid to try again.

Thanks for the tips, Niel and WWJD! I have just learned from another source that OS 10.4 is also available on a 4-CD set. Is there any way I can get this set? I'd be happy to exchange the one DVD for the set, as apparently this would solve all problems without the need to invest in new drives. Thanks!

Nokia 770 - Taken my money and run

I have had my 2006 version of my 770 for 2 weeks now and whilst in general it does what it does on the tin it has a few problems which I am not sure are faults or what.
1. It crashes a lot. I am talking 2 or 3 times a day and it does not get used that much. This is less stable than a Windows PC. This cannot be normal yet it is running the latest software release.
2. 50% of the time it fails to find my wireless network. All other devices in the house are fine but this thing refuses to even acknowledge the existance of the WiFi connection never mind connect to it.
So I have checked the FAQ sections liked to from here but the 770 is not covered.
I have rung the helpline and they have not got a clue.
I have then given up and tried to return it as faulty yet my emails go unanswered.
So before I get my credit card company to do a chargeback on Nokia has anybody got any suggestions on how to solve the problems.
I really don't want to return it but if it is not fit for purpose then back it goes.

And still you keep missing the point. I should not have to work anything out. The device is expected to work "OUT OF THE BOX" as a piece of consumer electronics. Whilst I do work in IT I still do not expect to have to debug something like this. Thats Nokias job.

You keep opening your mouth. Ensuring that people who come to this forum looking for help realise that actually they will get flamed if they dare speak ill of Nokia. They then go elsewhere which as others have said ends up with all these problems not being reported here. But then you are on record as saying that Nokia don't provide support via these forums anyway. And on a final point, just to put into perspective my relationship with Nokia and to assure you that I am not looking to pick a fight. So far this year I have placed in excess of £1 million worth of orders with Nokia. I have no problem with them at all (or would take my business elsewhere) but still expect the stuff they sell to actually work out of the box.

Nokia 770 OS Upgrade?

We moved about 2 years ago and I finally found my 770 in the bottom of a moving box, so I dusted it off and recharged the battery and all's well.
I do have a question about the OS:
On the wbesite the latest OS is referred to as the "2006 OS" version 3.2006.49-2
My OS is listed as "2005" version 5.2006.13-7
I seem to remember upgrading the OS a few years ago and judging by the version numbers I may have. Support says that their version is "definitely more up to date", but I have serious doubts given the version numbers.
Is anyone familiar with these specific version numbers? Anyone who can verify whether or not I have a newer OS (as new as a two-year old OS can be I guess)?

Nokia 770 starts unexpectedly

I bought a used Nokia 770 for a decent price. It's ok, but it has an odd quick of starting up unexpectedly.
I will turn it off and place it in my bag.
A day later when I go to use it, I slid it out of the metal cover and it turns instantly on. (instead of going through the whole boot cycle). Since I may not use it for several days at a time. This has resulted in the power being almost completely gone when I was ready to use it.
On times, I have heard it start up inside my bag.
At first I thought something jostled it, and hit the power switch, but I have also seen it happen when the bag was just on the floor the whole time.
Has anyone seen this ?
P.s. To forestall the obvious, I'm not putting in on stand-by, I am choosing the last option on the menu and switching it on.

Just install a formatted 2GB RS MMC unless access speed is an issue in which case may need to patch OS 2006 kernel.

Question Regarding Security Updates 2006-005 and 2006-006?

Okay I just noticed Apple Security Update 2006-005 and 2006-006 are available for download. Has anyone had any problems with these updates? I remember the Security Update 2006-001 was a nightmare for me -- Safari was broken after that update I had to do a complete OS reinstall then re-update to Mac OSZ 10.3.9 Panther and I only want to update if the likelihood of any problems occuring is very slim. Anyone running Mac OS X on PowerPC chips (i.e. using a PowerBook, an older iMac, Mac Mini, PowerMac etc) or on Intel chips (i.e. MacBook Pro, the new iMacs, new Mac Mini's etc) with Mac OS X Panther, Mac OS X Tiger etc having any problems with either update?

(10.3.9 Client) seems to have broken my CS2 Version Cue after loading Security Update 2006-006 via Software Update - 27MB or something.
Though afterwards all apps (Illustrator 12.0.1, Acrobat 7.0.8, PS 9.0.1 and InDesign 4.0.4) open and run fine, Version Cue disappeared from the Desktop Menu and System Preferences and says it's no longer installed, all this immediately after loading the Update and restarting.
Two restarts and a Repair Permissions haven't resolved the issue. I've downloaded the stand alone Update and have run that but without any luck. I'd had no history of any trouble with any Security Update prior to this, and have run good maintenance schedules.
I've not seen any other posts or related issues to mine, so maybe it's just my isolated event?

Nokia 770 and Adobe Flash Player

I have been to a number of sites, like youtube.com, where I am directed to get an updated flash player, and then i am routed to the Adobe Flash Player for Linux download page. Unfortunately, the download button is not shown on the 770, while it is shown when I use my computer. Even if I could download it, the instructions pertain to a computer with a Modzilla browser.
Does the 770 have a flash player, and can it be updated?

Answer : When like the nokia 770 it comes with an outdated flash player that can't be updated!
To own one of these 770s with a completely out of date (cira 1998 for flash 6?) flash player is like owning a car (recently purchased) that will not drive on newly built roads!
I got my mind around the 770 not having a decent Calendar a some time ago (eventhough you get a Calendar on the most basic Nokia phone!). The Geeks of Nokia tell us "This is not a PDA & that why it doesn't have a Calendar". Ok so it is not a PDA but if it is an 'Internet' Tablet, why is the flash player so out of date?? Why don't Nokia release an updated version for it?? This device was on sale in the UK upto about 2 weeks ago through Nokia's own web shop for £243 !!
If Nokia think all 770 users should buy an N800 just to get upto date internet capability, here is my answer: IN NO WAY 'JOSE'!! I am looking at alternative options.

Impossible download application nokia 770

I've just bought a nokia 770 but I can't download new packages with the application manager.
After selecting a package (hello-world-app for example), the downloding window is opened with the following message : "Downloading 17 kB" and after 3 or 4 minutes the error message is
fired : Downloading error.
Note : My internet connection is up: I can browse on any web site.

I've already had a look to the maemo list without success.
It's weird, at first I used the french version and I was not able refresh my package list.
After switching to english version I was able to refresh the package list but the list was empty.
so I added the maemo repository in order to have some applications in the list.
is it ok to have an empty list with the default nokia catalog ?
is it possible to track the errors in a log file somewhere (I don't have any xterm for now because I can't load any package).

Nokia 770 flash update?

Hi,
I've just bought a nokia 770 internet tablet running os2006 operating system with adobe flash 7.
I've noticed that websites such as facebook and other flash heavy websites insist on having flash 9 installed. Is there any workarounds for me to get it installed?
Also is there any way of installing a version of msn I know of some software called gaim/ pidgin but I'm not sure how to install it can I download it straight to the tablet without using a pc?

You have to wait until Adobe releases Flash 9 for the device (might never happen).
