Nokia 770 vodafone uk gprs with sonyericsson t610

Hi,
I am trying to connect to the internet with a nokia 770 via my t610. I have used the nokia wizzard to set it up, but it does not work. The t610 has gprs internet connection and it works. The bluetooth connection between the two seems to work as well as I can access the data on the t610 from my nokia 770. the nokia can not access the internet via the t610 though.
Any help appriciated.

I have just tried a nokia 6230 with the settings I have got on the tablet! This worked straight away. Very frustrating this.

  • Can a Nokia 770 Internet Tablet link with a Sony E...

Can a Nokia 770 Internet Tablet link with a Sony Ericson K750i as a Modem?

Did a little more digging and found that quite few people have problems getting this phone to do dialup with anything other than a laptop and SEs own software.
reason is that SE use some funny command structure, instead of *99# they use *99***1#
The number 1 there is important, it is the internet profile to use for the dialup, there will probably be several settings in
    Menu->Settings->Connectivity-> Internet Settings -> Internet Profiles ->
In the phone, and so the number will need to match the one that is configured for Internet access (and not Wap or MMS)
Also the N770 will need to be configured to send *99***x# (change the x to the number of the connection). I have never used the 770, but looking at the user guide you need to go to
Control panel > Control panel > Tools > Mobile operator setup wizard
Create a connection as described on page 27 of the user guide, the settings will be network operator dependent, but the key thing will be to configure the Dial-Up number to be *99***x#

  • Nokia 770 Connections

Can anyone provide me the settings for connecting the Nokia 770 to a Motorola V3i and then subsequently Orange GPRS.
I thought I had all the settings right, am paired with the phone but it still can't access the internet and I get either "unable to access internet" or "can not connect with the V3i".
Any help/thoughts/comments (especially polite ones) appreciated.

ok - so I had to reply to my own posting, but I've found out how to do it, so I thought I would share it with the forum incase it helps.
I've got a Nokia 770 and a Motorola V3i on the Orange network and each time I tried to access the internet using GPRS it would say it couldn't connect to the internet.
Firstly, I could see the phone was actually paired OK via Bluetooth as I was able to use the file manager on the 770 to explore the phone.
OK - so how to set up the connection...
    Access point name orangeinternet
    Dial-Up Number *99#
    User name user
    Password pass
(all the above are case sensitive)
Click Next and then click the "Advanced" button
Click on the "Other" Tab and ensure both the following boxes are ticked
    Allow Plain Text Login
    Use PPP Compression
Then in the Supplementary AT Commands box, type the following (again case sensitive) at+cgdcont=1,"IP","orangeinternet"
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Nokia 770: Can't Surf The Net In Hotels

When trying to connect my Nokia 770 Internet Tablet while in hotels, I find that my success is hit and miss. But I can use a laptop and connect. The difference is the browser on the laptop defaults to a web page from the ISP where I have to agree to some terms before being allowed to surf the net. How do I get to this default page with the Nokia 770?Message Edited by cxbank on 26-Jan-2007

Well, both really. Sometimes I can open the browser and surf for a while fine, then it hangs. Other times it hangs as soon as I open the browser. I've also noticed that the iTunes visualizer hangs unless it is in full screen mode. It never used to do that. In fact, I used to have trouble getting a full screen visualizer, now it's all I can do. Windows is updated. I suppose I could try sound and video card updates.

  • Nokia 770 and Adobe Flash Player

I have been to a number of sites, like youtube.com, where I am directed to get an updated flash player, and then i am routed to the Adobe Flash Player for Linux download page. Unfortunately, the download button is not shown on the 770, while it is shown when I use my computer. Even if I could download it, the instructions pertain to a computer with a Modzilla browser.
Does the 770 have a flash player, and can it be updated?

Question: When is an 'Internet' Tablet not an 'Internet' Tablet?
Answer : When like the nokia 770 it comes with an outdated flash player that can't be updated!
To own one of these 770s with a completely out of date (cira 1998 for flash 6?) flash player is like owning a car (recently purchased) that will not drive on newly built roads!
I got my mind around the 770 not having a decent Calendar a some time ago (eventhough you get a Calendar on the most basic Nokia phone!). The Geeks of Nokia tell us "This is not a PDA & that why it doesn't have a Calendar". Ok so it is not a PDA but if it is an 'Internet' Tablet, why is the flash player so out of date?? Why don't Nokia release an updated version for it?? This device was on sale in the UK upto about 2 weeks ago through Nokia's own web shop for £243 !!
If Nokia think all 770 users should buy an N800 just to get upto date internet capability, here is my answer: IN NO WAY 'JOSE'!! I am looking at alternative options.

  • IChat Nokia 770

    hi
I have problems connecting via GOOGLE TALK from my NOKIA 770 tablet to the GMAIL account in JABBER inside iChat.
I can connect in chat no problem but not in AUDIO CHAT = it always gives a "no answer" error.
    Any help please?
    thank you
    enrico

The Google Talk service is standard XMPP, which iChat can also understand. So in that respect iChat is compatible with Gtalk.
But the audio part of Gtalk is new, and only recently started becoming standardised as a JEP.
iChat doesn't use this new standard. Because there was no standard for audio or video over XMPP when iChat 3 came out Apple implemented their own custom way of doing it.
If you want to be able to voice chat between the Gtalk client and iChat you will need to submit feedback to Apple requesting they update iChat to use the new standards. Until that happens text chat is all you're going to get between iChat and Gtalk.
If you just want to be able to IM and voice chat between your 770 and other people you could try Gizmo (http://www.gizmoproject.com). They have clients for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux, and they have been working on one for the Nokia 770 recently (Nokia 770 is Linux-based anyway i believe). You'll be able to send text chats from Gizmo to people on Gtalk too as they also use XMPP for IM.

  • Impossible download application nokia 770

I've just bought a nokia 770 but I can't download new packages with the application manager.
After selecting a package (hello-world-app for example), the downloding window is opened with the following message : "Downloading 17 kB" and after 3 or 4 minutes the error message is
    fired : Downloading error.
Note : My internet connection is up: I can browse on any web site.
could you please give me some hints to solve the problem.
    thank you

I've already had a look to the maemo list without success.
It's weird, at first I used the french version and I was not able refresh my package list.
After switching to english version I was able to refresh the package list but the list was empty.
so I added the maemo repository in order to have some applications in the list.
is it ok to have an empty list with the default nokia catalog ?
is it possible to track the errors in a log file somewhere (I don't have any xterm for now because I can't load any package).

  • Nokia 770 Very Disapointed

I got my nokia 770 two days ago and so far finding is very disapointing.
Some websites I cant log into using itexample this website. I cant set the email on there to aol even tho I can log onto aol mail read my mail that way I am trying to install gaim but when I log in I get missing protocol plugin for [email protected]
If anyone can help me with these problem it would be very nice many thanks

The 770 does not support Java applets (J2SE, Java 2 Standard Edition) as embedded on web pages.
I don't know what the Flash support in the 770 is, but in the newer N800 it works OK.
Hotmail does not support Internet standard messaging protocols (SMTP for sending, and IMAP4 or POP3 for receiving), so you need to access it via the browser. If you have difficulties with the regular pages (e.g., they expect Internet Explorer, ActiveX support or some such), try going through http://mobile.msn.com instead.

  • Nokia 770 flash update?

    Hi,
I've just bought a nokia 770 internet tablet running os2006 operating system with adobe flash 7.
I've noticed that websites such as facebook and other flash heavy websites insist on having flash 9 installed. Is there any workarounds for me to get it installed?
Also is there any way of installing a version of msn I know of some software called gaim/ pidgin but I'm not sure how to install it can I download it straight to the tablet without using a pc?
    Regards
    Phil

You have to wait until Adobe releases Flash 9 for the device (might never happen).
For (all the available?) software compatible with the 770, you can go here:

  • Nokia 770 Tablet

I just got a Nokia 770 Tablet an am having trouble signing onto AOL and reading my email.  I am able to send emails. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.  I seem to have all the settings that Aol recommends for ingoing and outgoing.  It might have to do with the user name as that screen comes uo, but doesnt allow me to put in a username.

I was wondering the same thing. The size of the memory card is based upon the OS. Most are restricted to 2GB because the file system is FAT16/32. I have no idea about the 770 and would like to know also.

    Best Regards Dean

oh dear god! a 770! That's like handing someone a "black and white" phone!!
But seriously, I like / miss the 770.. a hard case / screen protector built in
You're kind of limited in what you can do with the 770, I'm afraid.. The main reason is the age of the CPU and the limited flash memory..
First thing I'd do is reflash the thing.. wipe it clean..
If you head on over to http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/ you have three options:
    OS2006: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_770.php
This is the last great OS version for the 770, it is Maemo 2 (compared to Maemo 5 on the N900)
    OS2007 Hacker edition: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/os2007_hacker_edition.php
This is a cut down version of OS2007 aka Maemo 3 that was released first for the N800.. The reason this is a "hacker edition" is because many of the apps are removed to allow the image to sit on the very small flash memory.. It's not as good as OS2007 is on the N800
    Last is:
    OS2008 Hacker edition: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/os2008_hacker_edition.php
This is the hacker version of OS2008 aka Maemo 4.. Maemo4 is the OS that ran on the N800 and later the N810 phone. Just as with the OS2007 hacker edition, its really cut down.. It's not really suitable for day to day use..
Now, the main thing to note is that you can reflash your device as many times you'd like.. This means you can try all three OS versions.
To flash your device, you need a copy of flasher-3.5
The process is very similar to the N900
    flasher-3.5 -F image.bin -f -R
replace image.bin with the name of one of the OS images you downloaded from the links above
After you've run that command, turn your 770 off
Press and hold down the "home" button and plug it into the computer.. it should wake up and start flashing.
This is a bit of a summary.. but let me know if you want more in depth details and I'll see what I can do.
The 770 is was great device, but it is really very dated compared to the N800, N810 and now the N900..

  • Nokia 770 - Missing Home City

I received my Nokia 770 IT yesterday. While I was trying to setup the device, I noticed that my city (Toronto, Canada) is not listed in Home City selection list.
My Nokia 6680 phone doesn't have this problem, so, I'm wondering did Nokia leave some cities out or it's my problem?
Also, is there a way to add a city?
    Thanks for your help guys.

No such adapters exist. The 770 can be connected via Wi-Fi/WLAN or a mobile phone with Bluetooth or infrared support.
