Nokia 808 headset: Advice please. (Nokia support s...

The WH-209 headset that came with my phone was sadly destroyed. It seems the WH-209 is unavailable anywhere except by buying an 808.
Nokia support have three times told me that the WH-208, which looks identical to the WH-209, is compatible with the 808. But it doesn't seem to be. I went to the trouble of getting one, and it's not supported by the 808 but does work with an Android phone. Research that I've done since suggests that the WH-208 is made for the Lumia 800, which uses the AHJ standard rather than the OMTP standard.
Or maybe I'm wrong?
Anyway:
1. What's a good, available, headset that works with the 808?
2. Or is there an AHJ to OMTP adapter that would let me use my newly purchased headset with the 808?
Thanks for any help.

WH-209 is an old headset used upon a variety of previous devices as here:http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0086LTIN0/ref=asc_df_B0086LTIN02318844?smid=A22QQRQRS0T6NJ&tag=dealtmp3868...

  • Carrier IQ statement please Nokia.

Please can we have a definitive statement regarding which Nokia phones ship with Carrier IQ installed.
No 'As far as I know..', no 'I can't find any evidence..' but a clear statement of fact. Which phone do and which phones do not.

    In the link that Farby put inside this thread;
Nokia Analytics Collector is a feature in Symbian Anna and later versions, which optimizes in-application data collection. The application integrates the NAC API and allows collection and reporting of information about application usage. NAC stores the information provided by the application (session start, events, session stop), enriches it with some device information such as model, operator, country, unique ID, but does not capture data such as the customer’s location, or phone number or email. NAC sends data in compressed and encrypted form to the Nokia back-end systems where it is consolidated to provide important feedback to application developers on general user behaviour.

  • Nokia 808 Charger compatibility

    Hi,
You can use these Car Chargers with your Nokia 808:
    DC-4, DC-6, DC-10, DC-17, DC-20
Those are the ones which are compatible with the device. If the charger that you have is not on the list. We suggest not to try to use the said charger to the phone as it may damage the battery or the phone itself.

You Know Symbian How It Bad And Old
If Nokia decide to produce a WP phone with Pureview technology it doesn't mean that WP can be ported to the 808. The 808 has different hardware to Lumia phones, hence the different OS's. It's as simple as that.

  • Nokia 808 Pureview GLONASS support

Will the Nokia 808 Pureview support GLONASS?
I see the N8 is listed here:

    Hi Obviously,
GLONASS is not listed in the official specifications for the Nokia 808 PureView. Therefore I would assume that the phone does not support this standard, and will not unless offficial communication from Nokia states otherwise.
    Hope this helps

    Hi Art808,
    Welcome to Nokia discussions board!
Thank you for your post. Can you try to install(or reinstall) the latest software version using Nokia Suite to clear up any bugs.
Also in order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging.
Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory.
Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory (select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache).
Saved images, videos, or sound files.
    Contact information.
    Calendar notes.
    Downloaded application packages.
If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them (select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App.mgr. > Installed apps.).
Any other data that you no longer need
If possible, use the memory card instead of phone memory in the Camera application (select Options > Settings > Memory in use to define the memory where the images are stored). You can also use Nokia Suite to transfer images and video clips to your PC.
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).

  • Wml format support for nokia 808

hi. I have no access to hotmail due nokia 808 not support wml format.
What should I do? Any ideas, pls!

WML is the old WAP v1.* "WAP Markup Language" from late 1990's for the "mobile internet" of those times.
It was replaced years and years ago (around 2003) with WAP v2 and XHTML-MP.
And nowadays also most phone browsers support "full" HTML (some better, others not), so they need neither WAP or XHTML-MP.
In other words, lack of WML support (if the Nokia 808 browser no longer supports it) should not prevent you from accessing Hotmail.
You should be able to use the 808 web/internet browser to access the real, web based Hotmail, instead (if you've been trying to use some ancient WML version of Hotmail).
You should also be able to configure the 808 Messaging app to connect directly to Hotmail (using POP3 or IMPA4; not sure if Hotmail is still lacking IMAP4 support, but in the past it only supported POP3).

  • Regional (Gujarati) language support for Nokia 808...

I am using Nokia 808 since launch. The only problem i have is i can not read Gujarati Language on my phone except some PDF or Image files. Is there any solution to enable Gujaati font on Nokia 808?
If anyone knows the solution, please share. I would love to hear from official Nokia Care if they CARE!!

First of all this is a User-to-User Forum. To get any official response you need to use an appropriate channel in THIS link.
I don't think there will be Gujarati language pack available for the phone. Confirm it by contacting your local Nokia Care. You can find NCCs in your are thru' the same link pasted above.
Coming back to your query, do you want it for the Messages, etc or to read Gujarati Internet sites ?

  • Help. My Nokia 808 PureView Proximity sensor probl...

Hello. I just wanted to ask if my problem with the proximity sensor on my brand new Nokia 808 PureView not locking my phone when in a call even if my ear or my finger blocks the sensor is a Firmware/Software-related or a Hardware-related problem? It's not a big issue but i just wanted to know.
PS: It has no screen protector covering the sensor.
Please I need your expert advice. So that if it's really a hardware-related I can send it to the Nokia Care Center. And if its a software/firmware-related then I'll just wait for the update.
And thank you for having the time reading my post/query and answering.

  • Joikuspot not working on brand new Nokia 808

I've just purchased a Nokia 808 from Singapora and tried using Joikuspot.  Unfortunately for some reason it fails to start a connection.  I've made sure that BOTH mobile data and wifi are on as well.  When I start the program, it asks if I want to start a connection (to which I say yes), I choose AT&T Internet and wait.  I can see the 3G internet icon start up, but the wifi icon (or transmitting icon) never appears and the message "Connection failed, Connection unavailable" appears up at the top.
I've tried reinstalling Joikuspot (well, I purchased the premium version actually), reinstalling the phone software (via Nokia Suite) and doing a factory reset with no success.  Internet and other apps seem to work fine under 3G and wifi as well so I'm not sure what's going on.  Any information regarding the matter would be extremely helpful.  Thanks everyone.
    Jon
Btw, I've also contacted the people at Joiku and what they've recommended (factory reset, checking certain settings) hasn't worked either. :-(

    Hi all,
This post is about using the third party application JoikuSpot in USA (and other FCC governed countries) and is copied to the following threads:
    http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Phone-Applications/Joikuspot-not-working-on-brand-new-Nokia-808/m-p/...
    http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Pureview-808-Intermittent-wireless-c...
    http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Help-Does-non-US-variant-808-purevie...
    1) It doesn't matter where you get your Nokia 808 PureView from, ie it doesn't matter if it's a US, Singapore or Finnish variant.. If you are using that device on a network/carrier in the US, the device recognises this and is not going to allow you to make Ad-Hoc wlan connections, as per the regulations set out by the FCC.
    2) I understand (this I am not certain on) that the FCC regulations came into force in 2011. Therefore for any device manufacturer since then, the device is not allowed to create Ad-Hoc networks otherwise the device manufacturer wouldn't get FCC approval.
    3) The FCC restrictons are in this case technically talking about Ad-Hoc networks, not 'wifi direct' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Direct) networks that are used for example in Lumia 610/710/800/900.
    4) I understand the US Variants of Nokia 808 PureView do not have JoikuSpot preinstalled.
    5) I understand that US customers are not able to purchase JoikuSpot from Nokia Store.
    6) JoikuSoft should be aware of this as they are making the software to create the Ad-Hoc networks. I will find someone to talk to JoikuSoft, failing that I will do it myself. I noticed a post from 'greentoy' claiming "According to Joikusoft Support, It should work fine in US, but they didn't know for sure.". Greentoy, if you're reading this please post me the JoikuSoft contact you had so I can sort this out with them.
It goes without saying, if you have Nokia 808 PureView in the US, and are using JoikuSpot successfully, then I am happy for you and don't want to cause problems for you, but I suspect the FCC would be happy to tell you about their feelings..
Are there any other questions I should be aware of using JoikuSpot in the US before I try to get in touch with JoikuSoft?

  • Nokia 808 Pureview Youtube Videos not working

    Hi guys,
I just purchased my Nokia 808 and everything is running smooth except videos are not playing online.
I am seeing a little f sign in the left upper corner which I believe is the flash player sign.
I can see everything else in the window except the actual video.
I contacted Nokia support and they restarted the phone.
I also have the latest software update.
I am unable to find a newer flash lite other then the current 4.0 which is pre-installed in the phone.
Please help because I do not want to send the phone back.

    Hi galaga742,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum.
I've just tested this for you, the Nokia 808 doesn't support html format. A picture sent within the body of an email will be received on the phone as an attachment and will not be visible in the email itself.
    Hope this clears things up.
