Nokia 820

Have just bought a Nokia 820 unlocked in Qatar and i cant download Smart Shoot or Nokia Drive Bets. When I go to the Store it tells me this "App is not acailable for your device " etc. How can I solve this problem

Nokia 820 problems

Just bought two Nokia 820s, one for my wife and one for myself. Awesome phones except for a couple of issues. First, the GPS and Nokia Here Maps. When I am at home the maps show me in the right spot but reports (showing the address) that I am 3 houses down the street. When I am at work, the phone shows my position correctly but reports that I am in the Elementary School across the street. Hmmmm. gMaps does not have this problem and seems to have more detailed maps about my city and roadways. So it is a Nokia software problem? I like the Here functionality better, but the accuracy and detail are missing compared to other map services so I have to keep more than one app on my phone, using precious space. Second, I would really like to be able to sync my phone calendar with my google calendar and tasks. Right now I have to use third party apps so I have more than one calendar app (I prefer to use the one on my phone with live tiles!!!!) and more than one task app, etc... and more than one travel app. Also it would be nice to separate the people I want in my phone book from the people I have on social accounts (I will NEVER be calling most of the people on my facebook account, but there are people I call on a regular basis and I hate scrolling through or having to search a gajillion people to find who or what business I am looking for) and still have them listed, just seperately.

Were you running gMaps on the same phone? If so then that would suggest the innacuracy in probably in the mapping data. This being the case, you should report the error to the map data provider using the link below.

Query on Nokia 820 Camera/Flash

I have a Nokia 820 - it is a great phone and I love it. I have had it for the last 6 months but I noticed a couple of things lately.
When I use the camera and take a picture, sometimes the screen blacks out and you cannot take another picture without turning the phone off totally and then restart it.
Separately, I have installed a Flashlight app, and when I turn it on, it wont turn off. So, the camera flash is freezing.
Has anyone experienced this issue or can give me any ideas on how to resolve it - I would appreciate it.

Remove the app so and see if all is ok.Id also suggest removing unwanted images from gallery if you have many there.

Nokia 820 Signal \ Reception Problem

Just taken delivery of a Nokia 820. As a die hard iPhone user, I pleasantly surprised myself by just how good Windows OS is and the build quality of the handset.
But I'm going to return it.
Signal is dreadful compared to other phones (tested in the same place) and my battery is destroyed by it constantly looking for signal or switching between H, H+ and on a special occasion - 3G!
I notice a lot of people have the same problem with the 820 and 920. Is there a fix or is the hardware faulty? I've tried all the solutions listed in this forum and elsewhere. Annoyed that reviewers said nothing about this.
My phone is SIM free and on the EE network in the UK.

Same on my 1020. Sim card I use frm my 808PV, there simcard works fine. Operator said that 3G is working fine and problem is the phone... But I found many similar complaints from all WP phones not only Nokia make. Problems should be addressed to MS... Hope Nokia will help it's loyal users to deal with MS

Nokia 820 SD Card problems...

Just to say I appear to be having some kind of odd compatability issue with the SD card functionality on the Nokia. I've got a 16GB Sandisk (not sure the rating) which works fine on syncing through Windows 7 Bootcamp and the Windows Phone App Beta and through folder drag/drop, but on replacing it with a 32GB Samsung Micro SD JC (6?) had all sorts of issues. Drag/dropping my music back into it via windows eventually hit on some sort of lock-up, it would only sync 0kb files via the app and on OSx Mountain Lion the Windows Phone 8 app would find the phone and crash.
Any ideas? Is this a known issue? I'd like the spare space!

I would try to reformat the sd card from Samsung on your pc.
do a long format. this will take longer but be more thourough. then put it into your nokia and is should add folders that are necessary for the device.
if that doesn't work on the Samsung card, yet it works on the sandisk one, it is proly the card.

Cyan update breaks bluetooth on Nokia 820

Has anyone had the same issue and found a solution? ... having updated to Cyan, the bluetooth no longer works ....symptoms are:
1) Although it says connected, the sound continues to come out of the phone speaker rather than my bluetooth speakers or headphones
2) The volume rocker switch becomes inactive when bluetooth is turned on
3) If Bluetooth is turned on before the music player is opened the music player becomes unresponsive.
I now have a smart phone with no bluetooth
I have done 4 factory resets, so please dont suggest another one
Is there anyway of re-installing Lumia Black? .... the Nokia recovery tool does not give such an option

It is unclear from the description if you have you tried unpairing the headphones and speaker, then pair again?

There are changes in Bluetooth from WP8.0 to 8.1, and from Black to Cyan - it took a couple of pairing attempts to have my BH-111 headphones properly recognised for both music and voice. And no, we can not go back to WP8.0 but there will be further updates with bugfixes to sort out all sorts of trouble.

Wireless Charger for Nokia 820 and a silicon cover

So I use a silicon / rubber cover for my lumia 820 and was wondering if there's a point of getting a wireless charger if I have a rubber cover on it? May the cover affect charging abilities?

Exact dates of software updates have NEVER, repeat NEVER EVER been announced by Nokia nor by MS. The best you can hope for is a quarter wihtin which it will be made available. In this case it is Q1 2015. If it comes earlier consider it a Christmas bonus.

Nokia 820 naviagation BT profile

Does anybody know which BT profile navi uses, when sending voice commands to BT (helmet) headset ?
Nokia's specificatin lists many profiles, but does not specify, which service uses which profile.
Problem I'm facing is, navi cmds, which I want to hear from helmet headset. In "phone" mode OK, but if I listen to a radio (headset's built-in)/have intercom conversation, navi cmds won't appear.
As what i've been told, this is a phone's fault, because it is not cabable of interrupting radio/intercom. Really?????
If it's not possible to interrupt radio/intercom, could this voice be on a background?

Nokia 820 and tethering

Does anybody know if you can use your nokia simultanously to phone and tether with a W8 tablet.
I would like to look up certain things on the internet while on the phone and use the internet connection of my phone via tethering for my tablet

I think the question was more whether or not it's possible to be on a call at the same time as sharing data.
That depends how you're connected.
If you're using LTE then there's no problem. The data goes over the LTE connection and the voice over 3G.
If you're on 3G then it should still be possible although the data connection might be slowed down just that little bit.
If you're only on GPRS or EDGE then it's not possible because the voice call will deactivate the data connection until you hang up.

I have tested 3 other iphones - 2 x iphone 5's and an iphone 4
only 1 of the iphone 5 connected to the Lumia's Wifi - the one without 6.1.4 update

hi ive had problems as well with wifi,but its working ok now,my router was set to wep key so i changed it to wpa-psk then i wentto wifi on phone then what ever your network name is choose forget this network then put network name in manually then put key in seems to work for me,before i done this if i switched my phone off then put it back on i would have to put network key in every time but not no more seems to be working fine touch wood

Yes you can. Go into your email client app and edit it in the settings.

Nokia 820/ problem with apps

a lot of the apps I have downloaded appear glitchy. Words with friends app freezes up the phone will ultimately shut down on its own. I'm constantly having to go out of a game and come back in. The chat function only on certain people will take completely out of the game as well. Same with draw something that I downloaded for my children. Facebook app for windows8 phones also weird. If I'm scrolling thru pix then go back to view comments on a previously viewed picture the comments are for a completely different picture. Glitchy

If the applications are not working as per your requirements then you need to contact the developers ... Many applications are yet to be made compatible with WP8 ..they may be still not updated from the earlier compatibility with WP7.5 and hence the problem ...

Nokia 820. Want to have Ringer Silent But Alarm At...

I can't find how to do this. If I turn my ringer all the way down it still vibrates and I'd like it not to. And I'm not sure if the alarm would still go off. I'd like to sleep undisturbed by text messages and calls but still have the alarm go off for the time at set it will all the bells and whistles to wake me up. Can anyone tell me how to do this and also how to silence my phone's ring AND vibrate without turning it off or switching to airplane mode? The alarm with phone silenced is most important, but I'd like to turn off all other indicators without switching off the phone also. Thanks a lot!

I didn't think you could set the alarm volume separately from all other volumes which is what OP is asking. There may be apps which do this, I had a look at 2 or 3 of the free ones but didn't use any of them so not sure.
They all have to be kept permanently alive as the system won't allow them to replace the inbuilt one so a drain on battery but as the instructions got one said you can keep phone plugged in overnight

How to set storage location in Nokia lumia 820 for...

Hi,
I would like to know if and how to define the storage location in my Nokia lumia 820.
I have recently purchased a micro SD card by Kingston and would like to download and install apps, like games who require more storage then my Nokia 820 supports(8GB).
I saw that the only available option set is to choose the the storage for music + videos and pictures from settings/phone storage but no option set could be found for the apps or others.
Please help me with some guidelines or with a proper workaround as I tried unsuccessfully to find the understanding for this in various resources.

You can't install applications, Games on the SD Card. Only other thing that you may save on the SD Card is the Maps ..but you need THIS application. Need to log-in using the same credentials that you use on this forum to download it ...
