  • Nokia 8800 original silver problem?

Hi can anyone help me I have a nokia 8800 silver and recently it has developed a problem where I cannot hear the person who has called me? When I turn the phone on the nokia tune is quite loud and audible as normal but when I am making a call I can barely hear the other person? It is really strange can anyone advise how to repair this ? Is it a common fault ? I have checked the speaker volume on the phone and it is fully up so it isn't anything as simple as that. I would really appreciate any help with this as I love this phone and do not want send it to phone heaven. I look forward to your responses.
    Thanks

might be the earpiece that has failed. have you checked that you are up to date with the latest firmware for your device via checking via Nokia suite? also try Restoring your phone to factory settings.
failing that, you will need to take your phone to nokia Care for inspection: http://nokia.com/support

  • Nokia 8800 Ringing Volume Problem

I have a Nokia 8800 and i'm finding that, even though I have the ring volume to max, when a call comes in it is ringing at the minimum level. I have tried to reduce the volume and then turn it up again and this doesn't work either. Any suggestions anyone????

other people have mentioned this before and were told to try getting the phones firmware updated.

hello, if you suspect you have adware on your system, please perform all these steps:
    # [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    # afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    # finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

  • DT-8 Stand for Nokia 8800

    Hello All,
I am trying to find an extra desk stand for my Nokia 8800, but it looks like official Nokia stores do not offer one. My local retailer doesn't have one either.
There are some on ebay, of course sellers claim that there are authentic, but I can hardly believe this. Also, found one on this site http://www.directmobileaccessories.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2236 but also have doubts about it being genuine Nokia item.
I will appreciate any advises and comments.
    Regards,
    Denis

I'm sure one has been found in the 2 years since the original post was made
This forum is for phone problems, ebay is for selling stuff.

  • ISync Nokia 8800

BTFE works fine with my Nokia 8800 but I can't get it to sync - the bluetooth connection drops on the handset.
It's listed as compatible with iSync on the Support site. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, are there any known workarounds?
Imac Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

This is a Nokia Series 40 mobile phone. The series indicates the operating system on a Nokia. A Nokia Series 60, 80 or 90 is based on Symbian OS. Nokia Series 30 and 40 are based on Nokia's own operating system.
Apple iSync 1.5 and 2.1 supports Symbian OS based mobile phones but no Nokia Series 40 phones. Search for the various topics about the Nokia 6230 and have a look at MacMedia PhoneDirector.

  • Smtp server Nokia 8800

I am trying to set up email on my new Nokia 8800.
I have downloaded the settings from the Nokia website and they work with my phone. However, I need to insert my own smtp server with ssl and I cannot modify this in the configuration downloaded from Nokia. When I create a personal configuration the e-mail no longer works it will not even connect to retrieve email I recieve an error message that says, "subscribe to data packet service". I am certain there is no problem with my provider since until a few days ago I was retrieving and sending emails with my old phone and can presently retrieve email with the Nokia configuration. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Sigh... I also had a confusing conversation with a Nokia tech who was very sincere if trying to help me - his explanation was something to the effect that my IMEI had become unregistered, so he deleted my email.noka.com account on his end and had me reinstall/re-setup Nokia Messaging. That didn't work, so he had me try something else which resulted in Messaing not working at all (at least before it could download messages, I just couldn't send them).
I deleted everything, reinstalled/re-setup everything and at least got to the point where I could download and read messages. At this point I've given up - I set up an SMTP daemon on my home computer with the same username/password as my IMAP account and I'm using that for now.
If anyone from Nokia is reading this, I know you're sincere and you make some good hardware, but if these problems don't get fixed, this may be my last Nokia for a while.

  • Various 8800 problems

    Have read the various posts under 8800 and agree;
1.battery life is appalling - lasts a day with 30-60 min of call time and a few texts, back of phone is too fiddly to remove to bother changing batteries.
2.i also have a strip across the screen that is slightly altered where the screen saver time strip is, seems to be there on all backgrounds.
    also
1.why under 'go to' on left hand button is there no option for inbox? it's been there on other nokias and is really useful
2.sound is very quiet, even on maximum
3.on answering a call whether it's by opening the case or pressing 'answer' with the case opened or closed, callers have complained of hearing a loud screeching noise - has anyone else had this problem?
so in summary, to quote a magazine review, the nokia 8800 is like a ferrari with the engine of a morris minor!
How could Nokia get a phone that is fairly expensive and supposedly a business phone so wrong.... one plus point though - i haven't managed to scratch the screen yet....!

Your battery could be faulty, get a replacement one and see if it performs better.
I think your screen has some damaged and it may have to be fixed.
You can customize the list of options shown in the Go To menu, consult you phone manual on how to do this.
You might want to try another phone with two speakers for better sound (like the 6233)
Regarding the sound callers hear, I think your phones microphone might have a problem.
You should take your phone to a Nokia Service Centre ASAP.

  • Nokia 8800 - Complete Newby Needs Help !!

    Hi All
Im a complete newby to this tech lark so could do with some help!
Basically ive just got a nokia 8800 phone & its got nothing on it so I want to transfer some tunes, vids etc onto it.
Firstly ive installed the nokia pc suite & updated it on my pc but then relaised that the phone doesnt have a cable dock to connect to the pc !
Ive ordered a bluetooth dongle like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLUETOOTH-DONGLE-FOR-NOKIA-N-GAGE-8800-6280-6230i-7373_W0QQitemZ220133688184QQ...
Do i need to install the software that come with the dongle? i.e. drivers & blue soleil?
When ive got passed this bit i assume pc suite will see the phone then?
Any step by step help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Jason

Bluetooth and Windows is a bít tricky combination, because Windows XP (which I assume you have) has an inuildt Bluetooth driver software that works with many Bluetooth USB tcks tc. but not all.
YOu might have a Bluetooth that requires the Bluesoleil and the bluetooth conflicts in PC have been well documented in this board and everywhere else.
    But you should try:
Install the CD first (if you have already put the bluetooth dongle to your PC without intalling the cd first you maybe in trouble already and it is a bit too lenghtly to hrlp, but google for xp bluetooth bluesoleil problem and oyu will find help.
However, if you have not yet put the bluetooth stick to you pc, put it there after you have installed the cd.
Then open PC suite and get connected and activate both phone bluetooth and pc and follow get connected wizard instructions

  • 8800 problem

I have had my Nokia 8800 since September. It has recently started displaying the following problems:
-simply cutting out as though the battery is dead.
-returning the message "phone restricted" at times.
-returning the message "sim card registration failed" often.
-returning the message "insert sim card"
-at times it does not transmit my voice.
Is it the phone that is a problem or my sim card?

I have had the same problems with cutout. i sent it back to Nokia UK as I live in New Zealand now. they tested it and the batteries and said the batteries were fine. i sent it back again (at great trouble and expense) with a letter saying that it wasn't ok as the problem was still there. it cut out after 2 texts from full recharge so could they please fix it and use it for a couple of days before they sent it back to me so they could see the problem. They sent it back again saying it was ok and to buy another battery. Needless to say it wasn't. i have emailed them at nokia care and at the place it was "fixed" and they refuse to have anything more to do with the phone despite it being under warranty.
I have emailed various nokia people but no-one answers my emails and wants to help. now, of course, it is out of warranty. I feel really ripped off and angry at nokia for refusing to stand behind their warranty and their product. especially now I see that so many others have this problem.
does anyone know what I can do? its an expensive phone to just throw away. but its useless as it is.
    thanks
    Julia

  • Nokia 820 problems

Just bought two Nokia 820s, one for my wife and one for myself. Awesome phones except for a couple of issues. First, the GPS and Nokia Here Maps. When I am at home the maps show me in the right spot but reports (showing the address) that I am 3 houses down the street. When I am at work, the phone shows my position correctly but reports that I am in the Elementary School across the street. Hmmmm. gMaps does not have this problem and seems to have more detailed maps about my city and roadways. So it is a Nokia software problem? I like the Here functionality better, but the accuracy and detail are missing compared to other map services so I have to keep more than one app on my phone, using precious space. Second, I would really like to be able to sync my phone calendar with my google calendar and tasks. Right now I have to use third party apps so I have more than one calendar app (I prefer to use the one on my phone with live tiles!!!!) and more than one task app, etc... and more than one travel app. Also it would be nice to separate the people I want in my phone book from the people I have on social accounts (I will NEVER be calling most of the people on my facebook account, but there are people I call on a regular basis and I hate scrolling through or having to search a gajillion people to find who or what business I am looking for) and still have them listed, just seperately.
Thanks for listening and I sincerely hope these issues can be addressed.
    chris

Were you running gMaps on the same phone? If so then that would suggest the innacuracy in probably in the mapping data. This being the case, you should report the error to the map data provider using the link below.

With regards to synching with google, this service was stopped by google .
