Nokia 930 display update breaks phone

Hi there was wondering if you guys are aware of this lots of people on the Windows phone central forum are reporting problems with the app update of display.
i have this problem as well. basicly before you update the display app the screen is all black as it should be when setting alarm or ajusting brightness in the bottom half of the screen. however as soon as you update the display app it cause the bottom half of the screen to appear illuminated from the sides like a LCD display. I assume this is the fault as when i have restored my phone to factory and dont install the update everything is fine and the screen stays black as it should then update cause this problem again.
i dont know what info you need but its a 930 on lumia cyan built on 18/06/2014, RM-1045_1066 VOD-GB, unusre how to get info of the display update but with out update it dosnt have the 3 options only has the 2.

Well, we're all 'just' users here, although I do not think Microsoft will give a final date, we know from experience it does not take them very long in these cases usually.

I have a nokia N72 phone and I did download the nokia software downloader from nokia website and updated my phone software. However, the "fonts" on the display and all the items have become larger than what it used to be and it's really ugly. Does anyone know how I can reduce the size of the font?

My nokia ovisuite wont let me update my phones sof...

hello im trying to update my nokia n8 phone software it wont let me update it via the the phone it keeps telling me i need to update it via the pc so i downloaded the nokia ovisuite on my pc that im currently running on windows7 and it wont let me update it im currently on version (014.002) and theres an update i found in the sw update app in my applications folder on my phone for version (022.014) it says underneath the update name witch is N8-00 device software (use your pc to update) so i went to www.nokia.com/softwareupdate selected what modle my phone is downloaded the ovisuite and tried to update my phone it gets to (checking device support software is up to date) then come up with something went wrong restart you ovisyite and try again if the problem preseeds to happen then uninstall nokia ovisuite and download the latest version witch i did and still it gets to ( checking device support software is upto date) and come up again something went wrong i dunno what to do i would be very grateful if you can help me thanks

Hi, I've got 2 questions regarding the called number display on handsets. Essentially, when a user dials an external number it's obviously shown on their phone handset screen - when that number is manipulated to add prefix for certain PSTN gateways etc. the updated number is shown on the phone display, which the users identify as "not the number I dialled" - can this be changed?
It a cosmetic issue essentially, but one I am being asked about and can't find an answer to:
1) I add a prefix on the gateway to the outbound dialled number (to add a carrier code / network function to all calls) - ie, \^9!\ \1666\ - Process looks like this:
user dials -> 912345
shows as dialled number on handset -> 912345
translation-rule on gateway (in IOS) converts number to -> 166612345
call connected
user handsets now updated to show dialled number as -> 166612345 (but still wanted it to show 912345)
2) Another seperate scenario is that I am doing called party transformation on a route pattern - here the modified number is shown instantly on the callers display. Presumably this in unavoidable? Or, can the original number dialled by the user be displayed on their phone, not the modified one?

any calling or called transformation in the route pattern appears in the screen.
you can discard the 9 in the route pattern and add prefix 9 in the route list level.
for the 2nd point there is a service parameter in the call manager to keep the original dialed number

It helped earlier but it has come back again. I don't know what to do. I tried what you said earlier but this time even this is not working either. And quite intrestingly my phone won't turn off. I turn it off, it goes off and then restarts on its own and then keep giving the same message again and again.
Could it be a charging cable, is there any chance that the cable which was working fine one day could turn to be "incompatible" with iphone the other day????????

Nokia N95 - Software update v20.0.015 for Phone CO...

I purchased my Nokia N95 in the New York Flagship store in July. The phone hasn't really lived up to it's expectations and has been quite disappointing.
I have however been given hope with the v20.0.015 software update. I have just gone to update the phone however it is saying that the latest firmware is v12. This phone is unbranded, unlocked and purchased from your flagship store. I would like to know when the new software will be available for the phone CODE:0548763 so I can make my original investment of $812 work like it should have out of the box.

Unlocked and locked is not the issue here. The issue is operator branding. A phone can be branded and unlocked.
Secondly, CPW seem to have their own product codes for phones, which means that updates for phones bought off them are just as late as if the phones were operator-branded.
If you want a generic phone with early access to updates then CPW is not the answer.

Nokia 920 Windows update killed my phone

I woke to the phone wanting to update Windows, been a Sunday morning I proceeded. After eventually completing the update the phone says its in flight mode, if I take it out of flight mode it locks up !, i do have at least WiFi access. If i go to phone or text it bounces back to the home screen. Any application that will run locks the phone and I need to do a 3 finger reset to get it back.

I have Nokia E50, Can any one help me to update my phone software. Also in our country some mobile operators are offering Cell Info Display, i have switch on that display feature but it is not constant it is appearing and disappearing. is this due to phone software issue?

If there is a software update for your phone, go to the support site for your phone, and download the Nokia Software Update tool. Connect your phone to the computer via a cable and open the software update tool. Be ABSOLUTELY SURE nothing interrupts this process as it could damage your phone. If there is a software update available for your phone, it'll give you the option to download and upgrade your phone. Be sure to backup your phone before you start, as you'll lose your data.
The Cell Info service is network dependent. Its possible there are issues with your provider that are causing the breaks in service.

Nokia 6500S Software Updater - PROBLEM

Hi, Everyone!
I was hoping that someone could give some assistance with a problem that I encountered with my brand-new Nokia 6500s (slider).
I purchased the item about 3 days ago. It's a beautiful phone with great functionality. But, I noticed that I was having some unexplained delays with SMSs. I would send an SMS and I would receive their responses 2+ hours late from the recipient.
So, I decided to update the phone's software with my PC using the Nokia Software Updater. I had used it before with my Nokia E70 with great ease.
I connected the 6500s with my PC via USD and connected with PC Suite and then started up the Nokia Software Updater. The phone had a full battery and the connection to PC Suite was recognized.
I was updating to 4.84. While updating, the phone's display went blank but the bottons were still illuminated and the update seemed to be proceeding normally. Then, at the 3-minute to completion point, I started hearing those MS XP sounds that indicate a USB device has been plugged in or removed, then the phone appeared to shut off. I thought it strange, then the Nokia Software Updater put up a screen that said "Connection with Phone Lost."
UGH! I immediately tried to power on the phone, but it seems it's now "dead." I have held the power botton for a long time, but it doesn't do anything.
Can anyone please let me know what can be done? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The only way to get your phone working again is to visit a nokia care point/service centre. It will be covered under warranty (unless you have imported it) and they may be to fix it while you wait.

N900 October 25th update breaks music player?

I installed that latest update, Maemo 5 20.2010.36-2.002.
Now the play button doesn't work on the music applet and half my songs do not appear in the music player.
Does anyone else see this or know a solution?

Nokia 5530 messaging update issue

not sure if it was mentioned before bu ive experienced a new issue (new to me). i updated my firmware to v20 and then got an update of nokia messaging (to version 10.1). after the update was applied, when i reply to any text message i have to wait about 20 seconds to start typing a message. it's HUGE delay! it was ok before the update, i'm not sure if it's firmware's fault or messaging 10.1 update's fault. any ideas?

Thanks for your post and welcome to the Nokia forums!
Please hard reset again and update your phone's software to get rid of the errors.
Make sure you make a back up first with Nokia Suite before you hard reset the device. You can do this by going to Tools > Back up. Don't tick the Settings box when doing so as this will backup the errors.
Once the phone has rebooted, connect it to Nokia Suite again and click on the green arrow to update the software. If no update is available you will be able to reinstall the current one, this option is displayed in blue.
