Nokia 97 homescreen problem

i cant use homescreen and its appearing blank neither i can use the screen touch pad for dialing homescreen just vanished one day and its not appearing back now

is the touch still working or has it stopped completely?
if taking the battery out and popping it back in doesn't work i suggest a factory reset (it'll not affect any content of the phone but any personalisation of the menu etc will return to the factory preset) but this should give get evederything back to normal.
if the touch has stopped working completely i'd drop it in to your nearest nokia repair centre as they should be able to fix the touchscreen under warranty (my touch screen went dead and the unlock button fell off and they put a new screen on with only a 3hr wait). if you do that i suggest backing everything up on your computer in case they update the software which will wipe everything

Nokia 5800 screen problems when unlocking

When I unlock my phone, I get horizontal and/or vertical lines - I can't use the phone during this time, because the display is so badly affected!
After about 5-10 seconds, the home screen will show perfectly normal. When I either lock the phone, or lock it manually, then unlock it a few minutes later the lines come back again!
Is this a hardware or software fault? If it is a software fault, how can I resolve this annoying problem?

I have exactly the same fault on my 5800 to the point where the phone is completely unusable.
Used the "Contact Us" facility 5 days ago - still waiting for a reply/acknowledgment.
I bought the phone in mid February so it was quite an early release model, V11 frimware, but the screen fault was there early on but only very occassionally. Had the phone updated to V20 but the problem was still there. However it got progressively worse until the phone became unusable. The screen can only be restored by powering off and on again but once the screen has gone into saver mode it cannot be restored via the unlock button, or any other means other than a power down.
Sent the phone to the Nokia "Anovo" repair centre only to have it returned 10days later with exactly the same fault as I sent it in with. The return advice note stated that details of the repair would be found on the enclosed letter - there was no enclosed letter. The return form states that all phones sent in would be automatically updated to the latest firmware - mine wasn't, even though Nokia notified me 2 weeks previously to inform me that there was an update for my phone.
Rang Nokia Care last week, (Thursday) to be told that someone would contact me by phone, (borrowed phone obviously, as I had stated my 5800 was unusable). Friday and I had not been contacted. Rang again Friday morning 10.30am only to be told someone would contact me. Left a contact phone number again. Friday afternoon - still no contact so rang again. This time I was informed that someone should have told me that I wouldn't be contacted until Monday as thet were all "Very Busy" - I wonder why. Today, Monday afternoon stil no one has been in contact so I suppose I am going to have to go through the whole routine again.
I am very close to the point where I am going to give up and demand a refund for an item that is clearly "Not of Merchantable Quality" or "Fit for Purpose" which would be a shame as when it worked I was really pleased with it. I bought the phone outright so I have no contract redress so am completely in the hands of Nokia. I know that Nokia is a very large company and I am but a single customer but from all the forums I have lookes at since this saga started I am driven to believe that the 5800 is causing Nokia some serious problems.
If I do finally get some acknowledge from Nokia I will inform this forum.

I just bought and pickup my new N8 from Batelco, as soon as arrived home, I unpacked and only to find out that its not charging and not even opening.
If they recognized the fault, they should at least informed the customer or the supplier itself or distributor about this fault so as not to have this worst experience of my life. A brand new and costly phone is not worth having this kind of problem.
Bad thing was, when I told them about the problem, they send me right away to customer service instead of replacing it with new one.
Guys from Nokia, you should do better than this, its not healthy for your company to have such lousy and problematic phone.

Complaint against nokia xl charging problem

i am registering complaint against nokia service and nokia mobile care because of the my nokia xl is not charging properly when charging the phone phone will charging slowly.when restarts the phone shows the actual bettery.

Nokia 5800 XM homescreen problem/questions

Hello everyone,
I have a few problems with my 5800 homescreen:
The homescreen does not rotate when I rotate my phone. First I thought the motion sensor is disabled or even broken but then I noticed that the main menu and other applications rotate correctly. Am I overlooking a setting or is this a bug?
New emails do not show up on the homescreen. I've had an E71 before and new emails would always be displayed on the homescreen.
Contacts bar and shotcut homescreen cannot be displayed at the same time. This is really annoying, because the contacts bar was one of the main reasons I bought this phone - I did not expect that it eliminates all the other homescreen options I was used to from the E71.
Can anybody help me with these issues?
Overall the homescreen does not seem to be very flexible. I've already tried to upgrade my device firmware to see if any of these bugs were resolved, but I am still stuck at v21.

Wow, all of these problems have been discussed dozens of times. Next time please search before posting, but here are answers.
1: No the homescreen does not rotate. It's not a bug, it's a "feature". Wait for a firmware update and hope that Nokia decides to do it right for a change.
2: No there aren't emails on the home screen. It's not a bug, it's a "feature". Wait for a ... blahblah
3: No, you cannot show the contacts bar and the shortcut bar at the same time. It's not a bug, it's a "feature". You know the drill. Also, no you can't show more than 4 shortcuts or 4 contacts at once.
Yes, the homescreen for the 5800 is only minimally useful. You'll learn to live with it. People are shouting for Nokia to add the widgets homescreen (like in the N97), but who knows if Nokia will see reason. At this point they're trying to keep the N97 boat from sinking at the dock, from the reviews I've read.

E71, Nokia Messaging, Homescreen, Sub-folder & Not...

Ever since I updated to the latest version of nokia messaging (1.0 build9.2.3.396) I lost funcitonality regarding subfolders and notifications.
I still receive mail correctly in the subfolders, however I do not get any notification, nor does it show up on the homescreen. Previous versions of Nokia messaging did have this functionality. Can i turn this feature on somewhere, or has it been removed?

Hi there, you mentioned you just updated to the latest version of NM 1.0. It is strange I just updated to NM 2.2 and I have no problem with that. I will recommend that while you have NM 1.0 installed on your phone, go to email.nokia.mobi and download the NM software and see if you get the latest version NM 2.2. Once upgraded to the latest version NM 2.2, you may have to log into your NM account on your PC at email.nokia.com and select "Install Now" to send the SMS to your phone, open the sms and open the link, this will prompt you to enter your main email address and password and it will sync all your mailboxes to you NM client.

After the update the phone was working fine for almost a week, the problem appeared when the battery went out and the phone subsequently turned off, when I plugged it to charge,I have got only the Nokia Logo white screen and the phone did not boot to the homescreen! After several trials of removing the battery which did not work, I tried removing the Memory Card which worked out but my problem now is that the Home screen shortcuts are not working as follows:
Dialler: Not working
Contacts: Not working
Calendar: Not working
Shortcuts: Not working, not appearing
Green button: Not working (does not get the dialler)
The tooltip that shows when I keep pressing on each of the above items does not read what it is (it seems it is missing the name and shortcut of the program running it). Only the Time and date, alerts links are working.
Also another note is that the dialler and contacts are working only whenI go to the Menu by clicking the green button or selecting the contacts.
Conclusion: it seems to me that the problem is only in the Home screen, also another note is that after the software update I am noticing that the battery is going out faster than before with the normal use of the phone, nothing intensive e.g. WiFi or bluetooth or GPS.
What I have done trying to resolve this issue unsuccessfully:
1- Restore Factory settings.
2- Format the Memory Card
I hope there is a solution for this! Also I would appreciate to know if there is a software that allows to re-install older versions of firmwares.

i had the same problem and fixed it by a hard reset for the phone
and then a soft reset
and a hard reset for the memory card((using my computer))
and then a soft reset in the phone

5800 homescreen problem and ringtone list problem.

i am facing two problems:
1.Usually when the music player is running you can see the song name and duration on the homescreen. This has disappeared for me. Calendar entries dont show as well. I use handy shell whose task manager i used to kill the homescreen accidentally. I tried restarting the phone and restoring the factory settings. Kindly help.
2.In my gallery and in my ringtone list there is this one track which appears 96 times! i deleted the track but the entry wont go away. how the hell do i get rid of it??!!

use option #3, its not usually what it is meant for but if you cant remove a file then that might be a way to go. also did you try to remove it from your memory card via card reader in your computer and see if this helps any ? the option #3 will erase everything off your phone so make sure that you do have a back up. also i think that you store your stuff on the memory card so try this first and see if it works for you.
1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for all operations listed here is 12345
2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone
3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working.If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. )
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

prob 1:GPS is not working ,it always gives error "WAITING FOR GPS".
prob 2:some games not starting after installation though these games r big ones(maximum 8 MB) like armageddon,bounce,toonwarz,etc.
prob 3NOT A SERIOUS PROBLEM)my phone memory is decreasing day by day can anybody tell me any way to increase it.
prob 4:my phone sometimes gets freeze or black screened.

"prob 1:GPS is not working ,it always gives error "WAITING FOR GPS".
*you need to check first if the GPS hardware is working on the device, to check this: Menu > Application > Location > GPS data > Options > Satellite Status > the phone will start retrieving Satellite signals, take note that your phone only needs 3 Solid Bars on the Signal Strengths.
IF you were able to have 3 Solid Bars, then your hardware is working, you can troubleshoot by reinstalling or re downloading Map data to your phone using Ovi Suite if still the same. try doing a hard reset (make sure to back up your files first).
BUT if your were not able to have 3 Solid Bars on teh signal strengths, then the hardware is the issue. needs to have it check with the care center.

I'm using nokia c5-03 for almost 6 months. I hav the following problems , which i couldn't find any solutions
1. .mp4 videos are not smooth in my phone even the videos downloaded from nokia ovi store are not playing well.
2. Phone is tooo slow especially for camera and gallary,
3. There are many bugs in my phones like i have two calculator in my menu, automatially connecting gprs, etc.
I have nearly 40mb free memmory, and almost 35mb free ram.My firmwire is upto date,
is there any solutions for these problems.

If after the hard reset you are still experiencing problems, please plug in your Nokia C5-03 to your computer via usb and install(or reinstall) the latest software version using Nokia Suite.

Even plain Google.com? Is your phone new? Did it start doing it right out of the box? If not, what was the last application you installed before this started happening? uninstall that.
If that fails, I think you need a hard reset if even reinstalling firmware did not anything. Back up all your data, then type *#7370# on the dialer. REMEMBER TO BACK UP, THIS WILL DELETE ALL DATA ON YOUR PHONE.

I've got a problem playing videos in YouTube with my 5800. Recently I updated my version of Flash Lite to 3.1, from that day I can't see correctly videos on YouTube, when the the indicator of the bar reaches 1/4 of the totallity of the bar, the sound and image stop, but the indicator continues playing. If i want to see completly a video I have to put the indicator in the start of the bar and wait the load again. Some idea to fix this problem?

Hace poco actualicé la versión del Flash Lite a la 3.1 y desde entonces no puedo ver correctamente vídeos de YouTube, cuando el indicador de la barra alcanza 1/4 de la distancia total, se detienen el sonido y la imagen, pero el indicador continúa como si siguiera reproduciendo, es decir para el vídeo es como si siguiera reproduciendo pero ni el sonido ni la imagen continúan., para ver los vídeos tengo que llevar el cursor de carga al principio y esperar la carga de nuevo, es un problema realmente molesto. ¿Alguna idea para solucionarlo?

I have Nokia 5800XM as well. The YouTube videos are playng fine for me. my FW is 40.0.005 with FL3.1
Maybe you need to update your device's firmware and FL version.\
Start Device Manager application on your 5800XM from menu or dialing *#0000#. It will check for new updates and ask you to download them. Remember that these updates are in MBs. I'd recommend update using a WiFi connection or flat-rate data plan.

Nokia 500 - GPRS problem after updating to Nokia B...

Last month after the announcement of update of Nokia Belle to Nokia 500, I have updated the firmware. And it was successfull and it works fine.
But while try to browse the internet in mobile using WAP or Mobile data, I could not do so. There is a problem (Error in opening the page). Before i.e. while using Anna i regularly browsed and it worked fine. after updation only this problem arises. I have checked all the settings and all is looking correct but could not bowsing.
Pls help me.

Could you please follow these steps if problem will occur again?
1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2. Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
6. Restart the computer if prompted.
7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and Nokia Suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.

Nokia 5230 connection problems

i am using nokia 5230. i have just downloaded and installed PC suite 7.1.51.0 with windows visa 32 bit. the very first time, everything worked fine. i synchronised all the phone contents to PC. now, whenever i connect the phone to PC, it gives me a message "USB device not recognized by Windows". i have reinstalled PC suite but no improvement. kindly advise.

-nokia ovi suite 3.0.0.284
-bluesoleil 5.0.5
- CSR Bluetooth adapter
the problem is when i tried to connect my device via blueetooth, the device is found but the programs says maybe you have to install the modem drivers for your device, then keeps lookin for and says there is a problem connecting go back and try again.
I have no usb cable and i need to connect it via bluetooth,
please help.
