Nokia Asha Platform in Nokia Asha 311

Hello, does Nokia Asha Platform will available be update for Nokia Asha 311?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Aww? No it isn't.
Nokia 311 is running on the Nokia s40 OS under the Nokia Developer Platform 1.0
Whereas Nokia 501 will be using the Nokia Asha Software Platform (ASP 1.0) which has been developed over the smarterphone platform that Nokia acquired some years ago.
Although the looks can be same, the internal coding of both will remain deferent. Also, the price at which 311 was sold, its hard for Nokia to keep supporting this old device and give it such big software updates. But Nokia is the king and lets see what the end result will be
Closing - Asha Software Platform is also S40, just a bit more polished. It will still remain a java only OS

  • Asha 210 and Nokia Suite??

    Hello,
I am trying to sync my new asha 210 with Nokia Suite but it tells me its not supported. As that phone is quite new, how is it possible it is not supported?
I want to import all my messages and contacts from my old nokia 2710, but I can't. Should this be a joke?
I was always a big Nokia fan, but this is just a huge disappointment at the moment. If I can't get this running, my asha will be going back, quite useless without sync options...........
    Thanks for any help anyway

Use the phone switch option found
    in settings- sync and backup.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cleaning tool for Asha Platform ?

Hi, I think NOKIA should build a cleaning tool for Asha Platform like some softwares on Android or Windows, such as : Clean master or Ccleaner. Sometimes, you use the asha device, system creates tempt files or dump files and you must clean all to increase internal memory capacity. With the cleaning tool you can usually refresh your device and easily manage your softwares or games. Is this a good idea?

    brian_le,
That feature is sure to be desired of but due to restrictions of the Asha / S40 platform this might not be possible. Most of the temporary or cache files are needed in order to speed up some processes that is accessed frequently.

  • Asha 501: A2dp works on asha platform?

    Hi,
I just want to know whether we can expect a2dp(play songs via bluetooth device) in the asha platform. Is it the new asha platform not supporting it?
Or else Nokia is trying to push its users to the LUMIA version of mobile.  Even the basic phones are supporting this feature now a days.

I can only guess because that bug could be anything (even the Bluetooth name of your phone could be a problem, something in the profile records, it could be a tiny bit).
    edostefano wrote:
Do you think that AVRCP Control is needed as well?
    Normally not.
    edostefano wrote:
Which versions of AVRCP and A2Dp are in the update? my car just says it needs AVRCP 1.3 and A2DP 1.2.
Version should not matter either, that is the design of Bluetooth. Furthermore, there are a lot of A2DP 1.0 devices out there, I bet they work with your Volvo.
    edostefano wrote:
do you think that buying the nokia asha 503 will solve the problem? or does it have the same bluetooth specifications as asha 501?
Well, I guess it is the same, at least my Nokia Asha 503 behaves very much the same as my Nokia Asha 501. Or stated differently: I have not found a difference, yet. Why do you not go for a Lumia?

  • Trailing problem on Nokia 3300 platform

    Hi!
i am developing a game on couple of platforms, which displays fast moving objects each frame. it's working fine on all platforms except Nokia 3300, on which the trailing of the moving objects is too annoying. i have used image buffer to draw each frame, though it seems irrevelant to the trailing.
anybody met such problem before? any solution?

There is no real solution to this, because the problem doesn't come from the software, but from the hardware. The older Series 40 phones didn't have very good screens and when a pixel changes between two very contrasting colors it leaves a "ghost". The only ways to deal with this are trying to play around with the colors so maybe they don't contrast as much or slowing the game down, both options aren't very good.

  • Is there any future update for Nokia X Platform?

Whn nokia is going to update nokia x platform .People have watse their money on the phone tht is already obsolete..
Moderator's note: We amended the title of this post as we moved it to the most appropriate board.

The Nokia X will get updates but not the X2 platform, and you could say that the X2 has killed the first gen X series

When I start my Nokia Ovi Suite (V. 2.2.0.245) it works as usual, I can brows around my content without any problems. As soon as I connect my Nokia 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006) it crashes. Worked just fine before I upgraded to the latest version on the phone.

Uninstall Ovi and re-download from Nokia web. Reinstalled Ovi Suite but that didn't work.
I then uninstalled all Ovi and all Nokia related software, cleaned Registry and reinstall Ovi Suite: Failed to fix.
Then I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1 which worked just fine with 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006). I had no problems making backups or to synchronize.

Made a complete backup on my phone.
Installed Nokia Software Updater and I reinstall the latest FW 51.0.006 to my phone.
Then I organized my content for a few minutes.
Shut down Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater.
    Started up Nokia Ovi Suite.
Connected my phone and clicked on PC-Suite on the options.
    It now works again????
Something happened when I installed PC Suite that enabled me to use my Nokia 5800 with Ovi Suite again.

  • Nokia Messaging - Broken; Default Nokia email clie...

I've had the e65, e71 and now the N97.  Great phones, they just can't do email.
So, first I want to congratulate the idiot product manager at nokia that thought that removing support for IMAP IDLE in the default Nokia email client would make the Nokia messaging service successful.  That guy is definitely the BIGGEST idiot in Nokia.  Second, I'd like to congratulate the second biggest Nokia idiot, for charging for the Messaging service.  This was a chance for nokia to get on top and they totally screwed it up.  Closed platforms eventually die.  Who wants an OVI chat when you can have fring or Nimbuzz?  Not only do they charge for the instant email notifications, but also the service doesn't work.  You can't send mail through Nokia Messenger if your smtp server uses authentication and TLS.
So here's to Nokia becoming #3 and eventually disappearing...  Cheers!  The hardware's great, but there's some real idiots working for Nokia.  Luckily there's Profimail...

Thanks to your suggestions I was able to get it work.
I think it is quite confusing the way Nokia handles email. At least for me anyway. I was not aware that Nokia Email, the application on the E72 is different that Nokia Messaging, which is the online service. I thought everything that goes through Nokia Email is Nokia Messaging. It turns out that the best way to have your email on E72 is through Nokia Messaging(and to get it you need a cellular data connection; Wlan connection would not do it).
To answer your question: yes, indeed, when I manaully configured my Gmail account using the option "Other" I could also opt for syncronization "After notification", which is not any more available now that I configured my email using Nokia Messaging (on the Nokia Messaging webiste I configured my Gmail account). Now for "When to syncronize" I have: Time synchronization Off. And it works.
Again, I think Nokia should work on improving the interface for setting up an email account, making it more user friendly. Today, a very well known Symbian web writer presented his work around with Nokia Email. Not sure if he got it right though, because I tried that before and it was not working for me. Click here

  • Nokia Lumia vs. Nokia N9?

I want to buy a Nokia but I can't decide which one. Which one is better overall, Nokia Lumia or Nokia N9? I heard that Nokia Lumia had great reviews and it's powered by Windows. So I'm considering the Lumia. Second opinion?
By the way, is it just me or does the Lumia and the N9 have the same body design?

It depends on what's important for you. The N9 runs MeeGo and excels in multitasking. There is no limit on now many apps you can multitask and switching between apps is fast and intuitive. This is true multitasking, not tombstoning as in WP7.5. Podcasts continue to load in the background and GPS apps continue to run.
Another difference is the idle screen. The N9 idle screen can display a clock , notifications and other info while the Lumia idle screen is completely dark. Oh yes, the alarm will ring even when the phone is off like a typical Symbian phone.
On the downside apps are not as plentiful as WP7.5. There is a community developing apps for MeeGo but few commercial developers want to support a platform which Nokia has said will not be developed further. Having said this you can find many apps in MeeGo which has no chance of coming to WP7.5 because their developers have to work in a sandbox environment while MeeGo developers have the freedom to write apps which interface with the hardware and integrate into the OS. Examples are call recorder, call blocker, changing the way you answer a call, data monitor, screenshot apps, wallpaper changers, etc.
You should make a list of apps which are important to you and check if they are available in the platform of your choice. Preferably go to a shop and test run the UIs. If the N9 is not available in your country you can still purchase it online but bear in mind Nokia will not warranty it in your country unless you purchase it from an EU country where they are bound by EU laws. Happy hunting!

  • Nokia OVI Suite and Nokia Care Support

Today I called Nokia Support, because I could not download maps with map loader.
The guy asked if the ovi suite is installed. I told him, that the Ovi suite keeps on crashing on start-up on my machine, and that all other software is running fine, e.g. the PC suite which I am using instead.
For a price of 14 Cent/Minutes this "Nokia-Care"-guy had the nuts telling me that probably my computer needs to be fixed. After telling him that my computer works fine with all other software, he finally told me that I need to call Microsoft, as it would be their fault that Ovi Suite is not running on my machine.
This is a poor joke called "Nokia-Care". Dear Nokia-people, that is no-support and no-care-at-all. Providing something that crashes for free, and charging money for providing rudeness on the phone.

  • Worst nokia care and awesome nokia technicians

baught my lumia jus 1 month back...the screen was loosely fixed....and whenever i pressed a bit hard and swipe horizontally the screen would move.....
send it to nokia care (Country:india,
    `state:kerala,
    place:Thrissur)
on primary investigation from nokia care team, they told me that it was a feature of all lumia 800s.(damn good)
so i requested them to please show it to some one who has some technical knowledge.so they send it to nokia factory(DELHI(india))
After 15days, that is today, i received my lumia back in exactly the same condition i gave it.
The screen was still loosely fixed.
cheers to nokia technicians in the nokia factory.
Nokia care team told me they will again send it for 15days.i said enough.
Selling my nokia lumia 800 tomorrow....i dont know if anybody would wanna buy it.......

I had problems with my lumia 800, the first time I sent it in, it came back scratched etc, the display was just destroyed for a new phone, so I sent it bavk in again, and got a new device all together, it was some nokia certified warranty center that handled my case the first time.
I have to say though that these days such service is not common anymore, so I think nokias customer care is actually good.
And being a former iPhone user, and a long term nokoa user before that, I prefer the lumia over my iPhone hands down, the build quality and os, pretty much everything is just better.

  • Nokia PC Suite VS Nokia PC Connectivity

This may be a noob question, so please forgive my ignorance.
Can someone please give me a concise rundown of what Nokia PC Suite & Nokia PC Connectivity Solution are?
I've been searching Google & all over & can't really get a distinction between the two. I'm largely unfamiliar with these applications, but because of some of the work I'm doing for my job I need to find this information out.
    Thank you all.

There used to be separate versions of PC Suite for each and every phone model
At some point it evolved into a single, "unified" PC Suite version supporting all phone models (relatively current at the time and afterwards, ignoring support for many older models).
A few yeara later Nokia branched off parts (the core PC connectivity bits/components) from PC Suite to create a new application (user interface) called Ovi Suite (PC Suite was being kept updated alongside) based on Qt.
A couple of years later (last fall) Ovi Suite was renamed to Nokia Suite (as Nokia is gradually moving away from the "Ovi" brand it introduced in 2007).

If things haven't changed lately, you can even install both on the same PC, if you wish.
For N9 (MeeGo) Nokia also has the Nokia Link:

And for Mac users Nokia has had stuff, too:
