NOKIA Australia BELLE (i now have my doubts)

so its been a while since we have herd from the nokia team in australia about the rollout of belle. at the curent time all my sources have gone mums the word.. but the thing that makes me think we wont get bell till after the lumia phones have been launched in australia. my thoughts behind this come from the fact that he who must not be named tells me that the generic version of belle for au doesnt exist, yet the new zeland one is alive and well.

I think what Andrew is saying here, is that whilst you may own your phone, and can do what you like with your phone, including smashing it if you want. You are always at the mercy of the phone manufacturer ( no matter who that is), and your service is always own by the carrier. The idea that we are the ones holding all the cards is no longer true for the most part. In this case it is always up to Nokia as what you get, they decide if they will produce an update, they will decide if and when you get it, even how you will get it. All firmware changes have to comply with telecommunication rules, and it the carriers that are responsible for making sure any mobile that runs on their networks comply.so even here you are at the mercy cf the telcos, if they don't want to test it or even just pass it , as compliant then you don't get it. You will never truly own your phone or the phone service. None of us have any control anymore, because it really doesn't matter what phone you use, you will still have the same issue
If that is what you are willing to accept then that is exactly what you deserve.
smart customers understand the relationship and how customer driven market forces make
and break companies. this is nothing new... either they meet our needs or they cease to exist.
believing that you have no choice only prolongs bad management and stifles real change.
one exception or instance does not define the relationship.
when someone tolerates your lies do you stop ? no it seems to work
when someone sells you a faulty product and you accept it ...will they fix it ? no
If you what to believe you have no choice then you deserve what you get... nothing
sorry but this negative / downtrodden i cant do anything is why things are where they are at.
If you are looking for instant gratification then this will not help you (nothing will by the way)
But actively driving companies to improve their products does produce better products.
not all the companies may be in business in the end.
As they say " you can be part of the solution or part of the problem"
You will note that i did say for the most part we are not the ones holding the cards.
That is not to say that we dont complain when something is wrong or that we dont say what it is we want. check out some of my post on the lumia 800/900 and the new 808/pureview. If we dont say what is wrong nothing will get fixed.
And at no point did I say that we should just sit back and take what is given to us. I did say that we will get what Nokia and others wants to give to us. They are 2 entirely different things. Unfortunately as it stands at this very moment in time, the carriers do have the power to decide not to allow something, that part possible wont change, but that is not to say that we dont apply pressure to make them either reconsider or to change the way that they exercise their powers. You have to also understand that it is not always just the companies that may cause us issues, but the government and their relevant departments as well. I'm not saying that we cannot change things. You only have to look at what happened when Nokia initially decided not to supply the update to Australia, It was people like Andrew and others including myself who rang and spoke to nokia and the carriers. It was all of us that has managed to at least get the update process being looked at for Australia.
I'm afraid that you cannot just go and say "I dont like that , so its changed", you have to work with the cards that we have, used them the best way possible. Sometimes this will get you only a little way further ahead, and sometimes you can make big steps ahead.
As in a game of poker you are not the one that has all the cards, there are other players and you have to work at playing the best hand you can. And to be niave about it, and just say to them we control you, so you will do what we want,  will get you absolutely nowhere.
When I was very young about 8yo (i'm 45 now), we used to have the local baker come round our street in a little truck, selling their hot bread and rolls and cakes etc straight out of the truck. Best bread you could buy as far as I am concerned. They provided the best servcice, they knew your name. If something happened and you didnt leave out some money, but always got a loaf on that day. They would always leave the loaf for you anyway, and you would fix it up next time...Where are they now.? They are gone thats where. You want bread now you go to the supermarket. I totally understand market forces and the direction that everything is going. The service based industries cannot cope with the large corporations, and no matter how much we would like that kind of service again, you simply wont see that again.
Your right telling companies our wants and needs does drive them to produce what we want, but always at a cost. A cost that has to be balanced. Look at apple, they balance their costs by giving everyone the same mobile phone. Telcos love them, They get 1 update to test every 12 months or so, and have to supply no service to the units. Everyone is just referred back to apple. Nokia on the other hand try to produce several different handset every year,  All requiring different updates, all being tested at different time of the year, all requiring more time to sell on behalf of the telco staff. Apple profits are soaring and nokia who are trying to provide everything to everyone, have dropping profits.
So i do understand how things work and the economies of scale with business, I also understand that the biggest thing driving all of this, is not wants or needs or who has the most products. It the company that provides the biggest convenience to their customers. Why do customers stay with certain finance lenders even when they know they are paying more than some other lender down the road, Convenience (also known as laziness). Complaining about something is not convenient.
Oh by the way the more you complain the less you are heard. Maybe you have heard that before. Sometimes you need to accept things before you can change them. And if you cant accept how things are ( which is all I tried to illustrate previously), then you will never have any understanding of how to change them.

    Well, doing that "could" be your problem, as it will error out & prevent the official unlock from being processed.
    At any rate, good luck.

  • Nokia care Belle software update

    To put it bluntly, I would like to know how long would it take for Nokia Care to update belle to my N8?
    Being a pre-order customer for the N8, I also had a faulty unit which was replaced and has the code 059B656. Althought I think it is unfair to make us go to nokia care just to get the update considering we were one of the first to purchase the n8.
    What's done is done. I don't have good experiences at nokia care and prefer to do things on my own. The bottom piece of my N8 broke early on and a replacement was supposed to take 3-4 hours. I insisted if it takes that long just provide me the new piece and I'll install it myself. Well after some hassling they managed to get it done in 1 hour. To unscrew the broken piece, screw in a new piece and a bit of paper work and putting things in the parts bin (I assume).
    My friends N8 took 2 weeks to come back from a swap, mine took 1 week to come back from a swap. I'd rather not be without my phone. A simple thing such as a software update I hope someone from Nokia can guarantee maximum of 1 1/2 hours to install provided there are not many customers. I am a tolerable person.
    what's done is done. Lets move on to the most critical question:
    Has anyone updated their N8 to belle at an NCC yet? Please highlight your experience.

    Well, I was in a jolly mood and planned my day around the expected 3 hours. So sent in my N8 first person as it opened at 10am. Sat at starbucks for 3 hours doing my work thanks to long life of the asus notebook. Collected at 1pm. Belle is now on my phone. I'm worried now, what about other updates? Will the swap unit still be able to do OTA and Nokia Suite updates? My wifes unit is not a swap unit and recently had important updates to her phone, of which I didn't have any.
    I sure won't want to lose another 3 hours + few more hours restoring apps and data for future updates.

  • Fruit ninja missing for nokia e6-belle

    Hi,
    I am new to this forum.
    Its been some time that I upgraded my nokia e6 from anna to belle. I have not faced many problems as far as other applications are concerned. But Fruit Ninja has been made unavailable for noka e6-belle now. Apart from being unavailable, the applicaton is also charged for other phones.Is there any way that i can get the application back?
    Moreover, there are not many interactive applications to download as far as e6 is concerned.
    Why doesn't nokia make efforts to have as many apps as it can in a business phone like mine?

    Sorry to inform you, but it looks like Nokia doesn't care about E-series anymore, since they outsourced Symbian support to another company named Accenture. Presently Nokia is fully focused to their Windows phones. Pureview 808 also receives some attention as their last Symbian flagship, but I guess it's not for long.
    Nokia phone sales are constantly dropping and that's a reason why 3rd party software developers are not interested in Symbian. Besides, E6 has quite odd screen resolution, which requires extra effort from developers to make their apps compatible. I was very suprised when Facebook made their app available for Belle(more than a year after realease for Android and iOS).

  • Upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard - now have problems with basic apps?

    I have a 2007 iMac (5.1, 2007) dual core. It's capable of running Snow Leopard and Lion (but not, I believe ML).
    I just bought the upgrade SL discs from Apple and installed them as an upgrade, moving up to 10.6.3 (from the discs). After running software update I'm now on 10.6.8.
    Since upgrading I've successfully run Time Machine. However I have the following problems:-
    A bunch of emails were present in the Inbox, but contained no body text - just the subject line. I have managed to since find most of them successfully from TM. This is a minor annoyance but I thought I'd mention it.
    ITunes won't boot up. It booted the first time I tried it, but since then the little icon just bounces up and down.
    Certain apps won't quit properly. I quit from the top menu, but the little blue light remains under the icon in the dock. I then have to 'Force Quit - Application Not Responding' *every time*.
    Safari frequently won't load up bookmarked or seach pages, the progress bar gets stuck part way across and I stare at the rainbow pinwheel for ages, before having to quit, then Force Quit, then restart Safari and try again.
    Now, I'm tempted to do a Clean Install, but after four international moves (Singapore-Australia-UK-Canada) I no longer have any of the original discs, and thus as I understand it will lose iLife. And iLife 11 needs Lion.
    I've done a disc permissions repair thing via the Mac Disc Utility. I've run a few clean-up operations via Onyx.
    Any suggestions gratefully received. My Mac as been running great for years, but this upgrade has been extremely disappointing thus far.
    thanks
    Feargus

    Hi baltwo
    Many thanks for your advice. I've read all the links and will be buying a 2nd external HD to do a SuperDuper back up. I already had a 1Tb drive with Maxtor back up on it, and I also managed to get a Time Machine back up as well, so at least my data should be safe.
    Qn - If I back up the System and Utility folders as well as the Home folder, I don't suppose I can restore them after an install and everything (eg iLife) will 'just work'?
    Anyway, I went straight from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I don't have any Tiger discs either (see reasons above) so now have no way of restoring original set up. I tried to boot from the SL install CD and then hold 'C' but must be getting something wrong as I don't get the Disk Utility pop up. It just boots as normal to the desktop.
    Anyway, via the normal Disc Utitlity I've done a Repair Permissions again with no major issues. However, my Onyx software now won't run at all so I can't clean any caches a second time.
    I've contacted the Apple rep who sold be the SL discs but she's not got back to me yet re iLife.
    This weekend I'm going to try a fresh upgrade. If that fails I'll try Erase and Install, if I can get the 'C' button timing right. I'll update if I have any successs.
    cheers

  • Change Default browser, Nokia E6 Belle

    Hi,
    I recently upgraded to Belle, is there any way to open links from email with Opera, not default browser.
    The settings->Default Apps is not working.
    Can I expect fixing of this problem soon?
    Thanks
    Moderator's note; Corrected post title and removed corrective post.

    Well, I am Nokia  500 user and I have exactly the same problem. Default browser settings are simply ignored in Belle. Previously I have used Symbian Anna and there Opera Mobile was set (by me) as default browser and it was working as expected - means links opened from email client were opened in Opera. After upgrading to Belle, Opera Mobile still can be set as default browser, but this setting is simply ignored.
    I am not so sure if it is Opera developers fault, otherwise why it was working on Symbian Anna ???
    If nokia programmers have changed some standards (if they did - I do not have such knowledge) they should also support some backward compatibility. From my point of view (user point of view) it is simply regression. I have also reported this problem to Nokia Care without any result and response. Since that time I am checking updates regularly and instead reasonable fixes I got several minor updates related to social networking or alike . It is frustrating.
    In fact currently I am not even sure who should I bother with this problem, Nokia developers or Opera developers ?

  • PHOTO EDITOR NOKIA 500 BELLE

    Hi i have a NOKIA 500 BELLE and in my app PHOTO EDITOR i have hundreds of photos i dont want and its taking up alot of memory is there anyway to delet thoes photos?

    Hi lesliejansen,
    The pictures displayed in your phone's Photo Editor application are the same as the ones in your gallery. They are not a copy of the pictures, they are the displays of the same files from the memory. If you would like to free some memory space, I advise you to delete the unwanted pictures from the gallery. Once deleted, these pictures will not be displayed in the gallery or in the Photo Editor app anymore.
    Feel free to post any other questions you may have.

    Did you confirm by launching the Maps on your phone that the Maps are not installed ? In an earlier version of Maps this was the case on my Nokia 5800xm. Though the Maps were downloaded and installed on the phone Nokia Suite showed there aren't any..but in fact they were and I could use them without any issues...This was however corrected in the later updates..

  • Hi,all i'm murali,i have one doubt

    hi,all i have one doubt most of the times repeated in the interview ,plz solve me.
      1.    how will u raise exception management in function modules?
      2.    how to create a  check box?
      3.    in a invoice how can i find the sales order
       these r the questions plz give me the perfect answers for these .
    waiting  for reply.
    murali.

    Murali,
    1.
    Exceptions
    Our function module needs an exception that it can trigger if there are no entries in table SPFLI that meet the selection criterion. The exception NOT_FOUND serves this function:
    Source Code
    Having defined the parameter interface and exceptions, we can now write the source code of our function module. To do this, choose Source code in the Function Builder. This opens the ABAP Editor for the include program L of the exception or OTHERS occurs in the EXCEPTIONS addition of the CALL FUNCTION statement, the exception is handled by the calling program.
    If the calling program does not handle the exception
    The RAISE statement terminates the program and switches to debugging mode.
    The MESSAGE ..... RAISING statement display the specified message. How the processing continues depends on the message type.
    If the calling program handles the exception, both statements return control to the program. No values are transferred. The MESSAGE ..... RAISING statement does not display a message. Instead, it fills the system fields SY-MSGID, SY-MSGTY, SY-MSGNO, and SY-MSGV1 to SY-MSGV4.
    Source Code of READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE
    The entire source code of READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE looks like this:
    FUNCTION READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE.
    ""Local interface:
    *"       IMPORTING
    *"             VALUE(ID) LIKE  SPFLI-CARRID DEFAULT 'LH '
    *"       EXPORTING
    *"             VALUE(ITAB) TYPE  SPFLI_TAB
    *"       EXCEPTIONS
    *"              NOT_FOUND
      SELECT * FROM SPFLI INTO TABLE ITAB WHERE CARRID = ID.
      IF SY-SUBRC NE 0.
        MESSAGE E007(AT) RAISING NOT_FOUND.
      ENDIF.
    ENDFUNCTION.
    The function module reads all of the data from the database table SPFLI where the key field CARRID is equal to the import parameter ID and places the entries that it finds into the internal table SPFLI_TAB. If it cannot find any entries, the exception NOT_FOUND is triggered using MESSAGE...RAISING. Otherwise, the table is passed to the caller as an exporting parameter.
    Calling READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE
    The following program calls the function module READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE:
    REPORT DEMO_FUNCTION_MODULE.
    PARAMETERS CARRIER TYPE S_CARR_ID.
    DATA: JTAB TYPE SPFLI_TAB,
          WA   LIKE LINE OF JTAB.
    CALL FUNCTION 'READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE'
         EXPORTING
              ID        = CARRIER
         IMPORTING
              ITAB      = JTAB
         EXCEPTIONS
              NOT_FOUND = 1
              OTHERS    = 2.
    CASE SY-SUBRC.
      WHEN 1.
        MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO.
      WHEN 2.
        MESSAGE E702(AT).
    ENDCASE.
    LOOP AT JTAB INTO WA.
      WRITE: /  WA-CARRID, WA-CONNID, WA-CITYFROM, WA-CITYTO.
    ENDLOOP.
    The actual parameters CARRIER and JTAB have the same data types as their corresponding interface parameters in the function module. The exception NOT_FOUND is handled in the program. It displays the same message that the function module would have displayed had it handled the error.
    2.  PARAMETERS p_check  AS CHECKBOX .
    3.You can find the information in table VBFA.
    VBELV - Your Sales Order Number
    VBTYP_N - 'M'
    VBELN is the invoice number.
    Don't forget to reward if useful.....

    Hi Vijay,
    Please try to use this to implement your scenario:
    public void onActiondownloadToExcel(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
         //@@begin onActiondownloadToExcel(ServerEvent)
         IPrivatePO_Details_ResultView.IPoDetails_ExcelDataElement ExcelEle = null;
        for(int i = 0; i< wdContext.nodePoDetails_OutTab().size(); i++)
                  ExcelEle = wdContext.createDetails_ExcelDataElement();
                  Here check condition for selected table checkbox column in nodePoDetails_OutTab()
                  if (wdContext.nodePoDetails_OutTab().getPoDetails_OutTabElementAt(i).get<Table Column Attribute>.getMdoNo
                                 ().equalsIgnoreCase("TRUE")
                           // Here you need to code for setting table row value in the node Details_ExcelData. Like same as below
         ExcelEle.set<Table column Name>(wdContext.nodePoDetails_OutTab().getPoDetails_OutTabElementAt(i).get<Table
                                          Column Attribute>.getMdoNo())
         wdContext.nodeDetails_ExcelData().addElement(ExcelEle);
    Hope it helps
    Regards
    Arun
