Nokia BH-604 Bluetooth Headphones

I recently took delivery of these beauties and thought I'd share some of my impressions.
The sound quality is excellent, but you do need to set up an equaliser preset as they are FAR too boomy by default. Just knock off HALF the lowest slider and add a little at the top and you should be close to right. It's sad that Nokia feel they need to produce a rubbish sound by default. I guess it's a sop to the tin-eared morons of the younger generation, but I feel it's a mistake, as anyone with any decent auditory perception will think they are 2nd rate should they hear only the default. In fact they are really quite good, with a balanced range showing reasonable detail throughout, but ONLY if you jigger the settings. They are not up there with the true audiophile jobs but they do give an experience superior to anything you can get with earbuds.
The dynamic range is much greater than achievable with wired phones from my mobile and most importantly: they give considerably greater fine control. My 5630 gives only 3 VERY coarse steps for the volume range that I like to use, just not good enough! These phones solve that problem. The volume selection on the phones is cummulative with that on the phone which seems rather strange to me. I would have thought they would sync. Not that this is an issue, just keep the volume on the phone up fairly high so as to transmit the most audio resolution and adjust it down on the phones if you need to.
Pairing with my 5630 was a doddle and I got quality stereo audio straight off, HOWEVER: it was easy to confuse the audio side of Bluetooth pairing and if there is any interuption the audio side will cease to work, even though the Bluetooth manager says they are happily paired. The ONLY CURE for this is to reboot my phone. Pretty poor really, but I have come to understand that Nokia's phone software is 2nd rate and not to be relied upon. Perhaps other phone models don't have this problem, let's hope so.
I found that running certain background apps caused the player to jump occasionally, not badly, not enough to irritate a little. Offenders include Google Search and Google Maps. Closing these solved the problem.
That's all I want to say for the nonce. Go ahead and add any impressions you wish to share.

base on your impressions, you surely enjoy using it.. good for you

  • Why iPad can not see Nokia BH-505 bluetooth headphone?

Nokia BH-505 bluetooth headphone has all the bluetooth profile that iOS supports.
But, my new iPad can not see it. HTC's sensation can pair with the BH-505.
Apples tooth is different from that of Android or they do not have tooth?

    It works for me too.
Just going a little bit further in the step 2, push down the TURN ON/OFF button for about 8 seconds.
I'm saying it because I also have a Nokia BH 504 and the reset process is realized by hold the ANSWER/END CALL and VOLUME UP buttons about 8 seconds. That makes me a little bit confused with Nokia BH 505.

  • Bluetooth Headphones for Sport (BH-503 or other......

    Hi there,
I need some new headphones for my Nokia N79 and thought I might try for some wireless ones. I like the look of the Nokia NH-503 ones. They're nice looking, have nothing that hangs round your neck like there are on most wireless headphones and they look like they clip on your ear for stability when jogging or something. I looked at the compatibility list and the N79 isn't on there. I emailed Nokia who confirmed that the BH-503 is not compatible with the N79 much to my shock and awe. I find this completely ridiculous. I was pointed in the direction of several innapropriate, ugly or expensive alternatives like the 504, 103, 903 and 604.
Does anyone know if the BH-503 is actually compatible and that Nokia just haven't tested it so are saying it isn't?
Looks like I'll be going for some wired non-Nokia branded headphones if not, which sort of sucks, I think.
    Thanks,
    Nick.

Just in case anyone is interested, the Nokia BH-503 Bluetooth Headphone DO WORK with the Nokia N79 despite what Nokia UK have told me. I took the plunge and purchased them after being sure they should work based on the Tech Specs I've found and lo and behold they do. Amazing. They're excellent headphones and I'd highly recommend them!

  • Enabling the mic when pairing BH-604 bluetooth hea...

    Hi all.
I recently bought a pair of Nokia's excellent BH-604 bluetooth headphones. They work really well in XP for music playback but I would very much like to use them with Skype but am unable to configure so that XP recognizes the unit as having a mic.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I've just got a set of these and listening to music, they are fantastic. But I had the same problem with the microphone.  Bit of searching on Google turned up a sort of answer.  When you pair the headphones using the automatic (express) mode, it selects the 'Audio Sink' profile, which doesn't make use of the microphone.
If you use the 'Custom' option, you can then select between the three profiles that come installed on the headphones. The other two are 'Hands-free' and 'Headset'.  I've tried both, and theres isn't any real difference.  Both work OK with skype, BUT the audio quality on both is pretty bad... - not even in the same ball park as the Audio Sink profile.  Why this is, I have no idea, but for the time being, I've got the headphones installed with two profiles, so I can use one for listening to music, then disconnect and re-connect with the other for skype.
Would be great if Nokia could figure out a way for the microphone to work with proper audio quality (can it be that hard?)
    Hope that's of some use.

  • Nokia bluetooth headphone

hey, so i've got his nokia bluetooth handsfree that i sometime use with my macbook. i'm just wandering why when i watch something through safari, as in a clip on youtube, there is not sound output. the same occurs with quicktime and vlc, apparently the only programme this handsfree will work with is itunes. does anyone know why this is? is there some setting i haven't changed in the bluetooth pref pane?

    Hi
I've got similar problems with Sony DR BT22 bluetooth headphones. Works perfectly with my Sony Ericsson mobile, but on the macbook only itunes works (although without the headphone function of REW and FF). As the post above, when I'm trying to watch youtube clips I get no sound and the video freezes. I've also tried with Logic 8 and it really screwed with the sample rate, attempting to take it down to around 8000, It would then sometimes play back a few seconds of really slowed down audio and then made Logic crash
There are many posts about bluetooth headphone issues within this forum and it seems Apple don't fully support these devices yet. Wish I'd done my research before I forked out the cash !

  • Nokia Bluetooth headphones: lost code

I have a nokia HS-3W BT headphones and i cannot find the BT code to connect it to my phone. What shall i do?
    Thanks
    mg

I suppose HS-3W is one of those models that doesn't use generic passcodes (0000 or 1234) so, the only choice would be to go to local Nokia service point for help.

  • Bluetooth headphones in windows xp

i have recently bought a nokia 5200 that came with a set of bluetooth headphones, i was wondering if they could be connected somehow to my computer, to listen through them i supose its possible because windows comes with a bluetooth file transfer utility but it doesent let me connect them for this purpose
is there an utility a driver or something i can do ?

No you can't. The profiles of blue tooth head set does not have the profiles for use in PC/Laptops. The are blue tooth head sets that is specifically for PC/Laptop use.
I've just cross my fingers that some manufacturers will come up with such thing that could works on both device flawlessly.

Because Microsoft Mobile Community is rather high volume in threads, I recommend to create one thread for each topic. Especially in this case, because MixRadio has its own section. Are you able to log-into MixRadio with your Nokia Account? Are you about:
    A) individual songs (or complete album; purchase),
    B) offline mixes of MixRadio+, or
    C) MixRadio Unlimited download subscribtion.

I am getting a Nokia N80 and would like to listen to music with bluetooth headphones. Is there anything out there that is compatable with the N80 ?

Well, it support Bluetooth headphones, but not in stereo .. which is probably what you mean. The regular non-BT headphones work well though.

  • RAM preview audio will not play through bluetooth headphones

I am using bluetooth headphones (Jaybird Freedom Sprint) to try and edit audio/video in after effects. However, when I go to Preferences>Audio Output Mapping and choose "Freedom Sprint" and click OK, close the preference window, and it will automatically go back to the default "Built in Output" when I open it back up. It will only play the sound through the Mac Pro tower I am using. Is there a way to get the headphone option output to stay permanently?? Is there a reason why it is not staying selected?  Another thing I forgot to mention is that all other sounds work (like iTunes, volume up/down) through the headphones except for the audio RAM preview in After Effects. How can I disable the audio from playing through the tower? Very frustrating!
BTW - the only time headphones actually work is when they are plugged into the tower. These ones obviously can't be plugged in.
    Thanks! (Screenshots provided for help)

Thanks! I definitely did try that first... (trying to find a solution with the headphones). You can't find any info about them online/their website. Regardless though, After Effects will not allow me to play the audio output through any other device except for the Mac Pro tower - even playing it through the LCD Cinema Display won't work.
    Thanks for your reply

  • Is there a way to listen to radio on iPod nano 7th gen with Bluetooth headphones?

I know the iPod nano 7th gen uses the headphones as an antenna. I know there will need to be some sort of antenna attached. Does anybody know if there is an antenna on the market that can be plugged into the headphone jack that will allow audio to be sent to a pair of Bluetooth headphones?

There is currently no such antenna available.

  • Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?

Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?
The sound when I record video is not so good, so I'm trying to use the Bluetooth headphone/microphone to capture a person voice but not know which setting to use.

    Hi Robert
Thanks for answering. I didn't know where to post other than the bluetooth forum which is relatively quiet and had no answers forthcoming.
Yes the voice isn't reaching the amp although it is registering on the input bar in the Sound System Prefs, just won't "play through" as it were. I can't see how it could be done I was just hoping someone might see something I am missing.
It seems a shame that you can't do it as iTunes on an old iBook makes a good juke box for DJ'ing and with everything becoming wireless these days it seems sensible that you could cut that one last wire.
