Nokia C3-01, suggestions for next S/W update

I am using Nokia C3-01 from 2 weeks. It is nice phone with touch and type combination. I would like to add some suggestions for next software update.
1. Brightness control
2. When writing a text message, tapping # change only alphabet from capital to lower case, but missing numeric. I have to press 3-4 times to write numeric in text. Also have no 'option' to insert numeric. If I change other language (not English, which is automatic), then I can get numeric by tapping #. Nokia, please care it for next firmware update.

You can do a long press on the keys to get the numeric value instead of pressing it three to four times. This works for all Nokia since years, if they have keys
Or do a long press on the # key. This gives you the option to activate numeric input. Also a quite old feature for Nokia phones.

A suggestion for next 5800XM firmware update

I hear all the time people wants widgets on their homescreen. i'm not sure if this the waht i really miss there.
instead i will be much more happy if i could have the contact bar above (and more than 4 contacts, at least 6-7 which we could roll left/right), and under this bar should be the application bar (and again, more than 4, which we could roll).
under both should be the google search (which is great), and the tasks/notes, which is my most important feature on the phone.
and how it all should work?
i want to see a full desktop when i start my phone, and when i choose my contact the other tasks/apps dissappear from the screen (or being transparent).
i don't understand why i have to choose between contacts and apps, and most of the time they both don't take advantage 5800's hugh screen (by leaving large spaces unused).
but if we could see a Facebook widget or a normal weather widget on the next firmware update, it could be nice (but less necessary) ...

that is a nice idea you have there, but one must think about how practical all these changes and additions will be. if one must have, lets say 6 contact icons next to each other in one row, the icons would have to be small in order for them to fit in nicely. i do notice that the way you have imagined the new home screen is much like the old S60 3rd edition, but do note that the 3rd edition was not touch screen. there are many people who wish different things for certain handsets, mine would be that the 5800XM should have a more windows vista feel to it, with option lists and screen appearing and dissapearing into the screen as though it was another layer on top of the previous page.
you must also remember that the S60 5th edition on the 5800XM is the a new version of the software, being added on the first Nokia touchscreen smart phone, so there are still many things Nokia has to learn from the 5800XM "test" phone.
hopefully our ideas will be seen in the new future.

Suggestion for next web browser update

im a happy owner of nokia n97. I love the browser compared to others i have used, think about this suggestion think about the video player for the n97 where videos can be watch even though icons are still present(they are not in way or hiding anything. ) if this method is applied to browser especially when zooming atleast you could see what your doing. i like the see through effect it makes things easier. also it would be nice to have most of the option in photos available in music player. thanks keep up good work nokia

C3-01, for next S/W update

Enjoying Nokia C3-01 for nearly 2 months-impressive machine,but I have some suggestions for the next
firmware
I have aranged them by majority as I take it.I think Nokia are the simpliest phones,but sometimes simplicity is not the best,is it?
First of all,the memory card password function is awul,as certainly others think... I'd suggest the password to be synchronized with Ovi Suite application and be stored within OR/AND the Ovi account,won't be great?!?
-it maybe added at least a password reminder or a backup in the phone memory,which IS NOT DELETED when the phone resets,and the user can access it by the phone's security code
Also WHY when I set a password the phone stores it and it don't ask me for it till i reset it or insert the card in othe Nokia cell,that is a HUGE chance to forgot it,as I did My previous cell hasn't ability to set a password for the card at all(I know all Nokias has,but don't you think that thiss REALLY a huge issue?)! :/

Second-when I am connecting to a WLAN and the signal is too weak,it displays a message "Network cannot be used to access the internet.
Connect anyway?" well,i think that this at least should have an option to be switched off,as it is NOT true NEARLY ALWAYS and the phone restarts VERY OFTEN when i press "Yes" A BIG BUG
The calendar does NOT switch on the phone for event with alarm reminder,only the phone's alarm do.
Instead,it starts the event's alarm as soon as I switch on the phone. Isn't it ridiculous???
When the phone clock is resetted due to a long time without battery and I did not set it,or set it wrong,lets say an hour-all calendar evts's times are changed with an hour!!! One more absurdity.
As already suggested-brightness control,but I'd add one more importand lack-backlight control,currently the display's light is 60 seconds,I prefer to be a 10 maybe.Also ability to turn off the keyboard's lights.
The phone's browser has NO real history,only for the current session and for visited ADDRESSES, NOT PAGES
BT devices aren't backed up,after phone reset and restoring from backup in microSD,they all are vanished.
Phones' browser data-bookmarks ,browser history(as far as it has)usernames,passwords and cookies aren't backed up too
I want to delete the browser's original bookmarks.
"Go To" menu-the items in it aren't backed up and i can't drag them to arrange.
Cannot arrange the main menu(as much simpler Nokia phones CAN).
Video counter fails-I shot "Video000",then I delete it,and the name of the next video isn't "Video001",but again the same "Video000" and I am forced to rename videos when I upload them to my PC,as they canot be with the same names in a single folder.

I take a photo 70,then delete it and though the next taken photo is 71-very good,but not perfect-the both vid and photo counters aren't backed up:
I reset it and I have a new phone with 0 taken photos! BIG INCONVENIENCE
I'd like a shortcut to specific folder in the gallery or the memory card at the home screen's shortcut bar.
EQ setting isn't backed up(rock,pop...)and before I had 2 additional custom sets-set 1 and set 2,now after the last phone reset they are "Java" instead of "Set 1" and "Set 2"
Can be added a timeline for "My Videos" like it has for the photos.
Ability to disable the upper-right clock in home screen and in menus,when typing,etc,as i can always view the time by locking the keys
Also removing the big clock and date when home screen mode is set to off.
Removing "No SIM card" message
Hiding the 3G sign when without SIM
Hiding operator name
Adding some more functionality to the LED - lets say when playing music it can flash according to the beat!
Maybe changing the songs with the proximity sensor when the phone is locked?
Disabling the asking "Start the phone without SIM card?"
Adding "minute beep" function when in call.
And here some more "cosmetic" things & "bugs"...
As I can connect my PC to the internet using USB cable and OviSuite through my network provider,why not via Wi-Fi as well?

When setting the time for an event from the organiser and mark the minutes or the am/pm indicator and press options,the indicator does not show am or pm,but "00" well,this it doesn't matters at all.
I cannot start the radio directly in loudspeaker,but have to turn it manually.
When writing,and with caps on,if I delete a letter it turns off them.
"My shortcuts","Home screen" items,BT visibility setting,and "Auto update option" in clock settings isn't backed up.
Embedded delivery report for SMS seems not to be working
Adding home screen moveable,or not"widgets",like a music one,with at least play/stop function and scrolling song name in it would be cool.

Abstract of new/improve c3-01 features:
-Multi alarms
-WiFi data log in Log menu
-Data log show in kbs (or can select how this be'll show: bytes or kilobytes in Settings menu)
-Play/stream video under WiFi conections
-Text mark and copy/paste text
-Multiple selection for delete messages
-Can run appl in background/Minimize it (Sony Ericsson Java phones have this functionality; why Nokia s40 Java based phones not?)
-Press turn off/red botton: *sofly: appears menu with Profiles, Remove microUSB Card, Turn Off. *Press 1sec: Close networks connections. *Press and hold: Turn Off
-Pres Call/green button: Press and hold: Appears running aplications in background
-Improve photos captures when flash is activated. It is much white or 'burned' by flashlight
-Update/improve Java API access (vg: install Google Maps in c3-01 and cannot acces to accurate location based network cells. SE mobiles, yes; Some app cannot acces to memory to upload a photo or cannot activate camera to capture).

Wish list for next iPod software update

I don't know if this the right place or not, I was unable to find a better place for this.
Wish list for next iPod 5G software update
1.) Use the same folder structure as in iTunes (could be an option)
2.) Allow creation of custom eq settings in iTunes.

What the next update needs is a better way for ipods to deal with gapless albums, I have several albums that I put on gapless album cuz each track leads into the next one perfectly and that little pause really throws off the feel of the music. But I can't put either of those albums on Repeat All, Shuffle Songs or Shuffle Albums cuz then it only plays the one song in it's own playlist and to get to the next track I have to go back to the menu and scroll down to the next one, which is a hassle to say the least.

Suggestion for next firmware update - Nokia 5800

If anyone from nokia is reading this in the next firmware update for the Nokia 5800 XM can we have the facility of have the name of the title track of a song scroll from left to right whilst the song is playing, as at the moment it scrolls once and then stops so if its a song with a long title all you can see is just half the title after its scrolled once, and also maybe a way as the song is playing of seeing the details of the song playing (like the tags for artist, Kbps, song title, album name) by clicking the onscreen softkey/options button. And also this can be extended to the contacts list where the name will scroll from left to right to show the full contact name when you press on it, at the moment it doesn't do that.

Unfortunately the care centres are the only people that can help you.
Any other methods that you may read about on other forums will void your warranty and cannot be discussed here.

Nokia 5230 - Wish List for Next Firmware Upgrade

I'm using Nokia 5230 with the latest firmware, V 12.0.089.
The following are my wish list for the next firmware upgrade:-
1. Messaging > Sent Items: Please include short cut icons to Forward, Create New and Delete as in Inbox.
2. Log > Recent calls: Unnecessary option for Call > Voice Call.
3. Settings > Personal > Themes > Call image > Theme image: A bug with certain 3rd party theme (e.g. JustBlack - 5th theme). During lock mode, screen is totally blank during calls & alarms.
4. Settings > Application mgr. > Installed apps.: Too much application will cause an error of "Application Manager Memory full" and auto exit when selecting "Option". During error, phone memory is around 25MB, Memory Card is around 2.5GB/4GB.
5. Ovi Map > Drive / Walk > Set Destination: Please do an icon based UI for History, Favourite, Search & From Map. The list is to small to click on to (when driving) :-)
6. Organize > Please include multiple selections. E.g. Mark/Unmark > Mark / Mark All. Easy to move multiple applications at once to any folder.

Suggestion for next release of TM

Hi
I hope Apple takes up this suggestion or someone tells me I have been doing something wrong.
I have a 250GB external hard drive which I use for storing movies I make. I want to allocate half my 250GB to TM. I don't want to reformat my external drive with its current moves and set up 2 partitions.
It would be nice if in System Preferences one had the capability to allocate a % of the external drive to TM.
Hopefully fixed in next update.

I don't think you really understood my post.
To do such a thing would be to put your data in danger.
As TM changes how the file system (the thing which keeps track of your files and so on) works it would be unsafe to promote such a behavior you wish for. And by giving the option to set a limit on how much space TM may use on a partition Apple would in some way promote this dangerous setup.
But on the other hand such a thing could be useful if you were to have several computers with TM to use the same partition.
My point is that Apple will probably not implement your request as it would be more dangerous than helping, in most of the cases were it would be used.

Hi, just a thought for the mods if they are able to feedback by any channels about any next gen box...

Capabilities, which would be great... I think that it would be great if the box could have wifi capabilities instead of using comtrend power adapters, I would also imagine this would be much cheaper to supply when inbuilt.

Suggestion for Next Release - Dynamic Column Widths

Is it possible for the next release of xcelsius to allow the developer to dynamically set column widths?
Appearance > Layout > Custom Column Widths - let the developer bind the values dynamically to a range.

The XScorecard (part of the XComponents @ www.antivia.com which are free to download and free to use) does exactly this. In fact it does a little more because the column widths bind in both directions, which is useful to sync two tables together. If they are bound to the same column width cells then even if the end-user drags the columns in one table the second on changes as well. If there are things that the XScorecard does not do which you need it to then leave a comment and I will see how difficult it would be to add.

Suggestion for next PC-Suite version

In the last version, I've experienced that when I cut / paste SMS to any folder, the saved SMS names are now formed by a part of the message + vmg extension.
In previous versions, they were formed by a number + vmg ext.
My suggestion is: could the name be formed using the date they were sent / recieved?
You could capture it from the sms and put it as the name in a time format (for example, MM.DD.YYYY.hh.mm.ss.vmg).
It would help me a lot when browsing my backed up messages.

Suggestion for next imovie

Any specs on the next imovie?? One thing I would like to see in future versions is an area to have more video clips in the timeframe. Just like you have the ability to have 2 audio tracks, they should increase the video to 2-3 video so you can cut and edit video alot easier. I like how simple imovie is but have switched over to FCE HD and have found it a bit difficult to edit multiple video clips. I usually record using 2-3 cameras at one time and enjoy the simplicity of imovie.

the average camcorder user is a guy as me: Daddy & son go to the Zoo - fill a tape with impressions, import, edit, add titles & music - done.- look at the metaphor/User Interface of iM: sorting slides... we've done that 80 year ago.. (no, not me, I'm not THAT old...) editing multi-camera/multi-angle footage is way beyond that, you can do that "live" in a broadcast truck or as a Hollywood editor...
as said: unlikely to see that feature… there's a free edit-tool, offering that feature, probably more usable for your needs: HyperEngineAV ....

Thanks to reading and applying suggestions in this forum, I've been able to raise my Fico scores to 755ex, 741tu, and 750, eq. I have a secured Credit with PNC bank with a zero balance and $2,500.00 limit. I also have an old 7 % high rate mortgage with Wells Fargo I would like to refinance. I'v had two (2) hard credit inquiries in the past two years with the most recent one in 12/2014. My concern is my FICO scores taking a major hit if I 1) apply and convert the secured PNC Bank Card to a regular PNC Credit Card or I apply to refinance my high rate mortgage. Given my current FICO scores, what would be the recommended best next step that will harm my FICO scores the least?

Let a small balance report on it and then go refinance that mortgage. Finances >>>>>>>> FICO and there's absolutely no reason to be carrying a 7% mortgage in this market. FICO really doesn't matter in this case, get the house refinanced. After that's sorted I'd recommend going and opening at least 2 more cards, and then converting the PNC card later if you wish; short term negative, long term better to have a thicker file.

Suggestion for next iPhone OS

If the browsing of internet or any content, e.g the contact list can be assisted by the tilting of the phone using the motion detection sensor.
Instead of moving the contact list by touching the screen, moving the contact list by tilting the phone up and down. Instead of touching the Safari up and down or right to left, tilting the phone up and down, right to left to move the screen. This will come in handy for us riding in the subway, standing in a moving bus.
Steve, can you add that to the next OS? I have some more ideas as well, if you give me you email address.

Suggestion for next version of Time Machine

It would be really nice if the Time Machine drop-down menu had an option "Eject Time Machine Disk" I use time machine whenever I set my laptop down on the desk. Every time I take my laptop away I have to go to the finder and manually eject the disk. I probably do this 3 times a day.
So if you know any developers on Time Machine, please pass this suggestion along to them. Thank you.
